Lovely resort. Great service and staff. Reception(check in/check out) staff not very friendly or helpful. Rest of staff was amazing! Loved Edwin at the lobby bar! He was awesome. Chocolate was the best at entertaining us at the pool. Would return here again and I e been to the DR 3 times at other resorts

We started with the Apple rep putting us on the wrong bus ( after tipping 3 separate individuals that grabbed our bags and didnt want to give them back) and the driver trying to make us stay while he did nothing. We left to find the Apple rep with the driver yelling at us. We checked into a room ( without our airplane neck pillow that was lost somewhere between the bus and our room) . The room smelled of mold and bug spray and the toilet was leaking at the seal. The first day other guests told us not to leave valuables in the room safe as they had their money stolen from the safe. I went to the Apple rep and she advised me to still use the safe and completely ignored my concerns and only cared about selling excursions . We lost electricity for hours at a time. We were constantly harassed about upgrading. The food was horrible and the one and only choice of beer and wine were both horrible. An electrical fire broke out on the grounds. We did not feel safe and could not wait to leave.

hotel and room was vary clean pools were also top notch. the pools closed at 7:00PM every day should have been opened latter like 10 or 11 PM food was just OK could not get any food between 3 and 6 PM or after 10 PM need around the clock pizza or burger joint. To much trying to con you into time shares and trying to push selling something at the pool all day

Would never stay there again! The electric kept going out. We would eat in the pitch black. The air conditioning would go off an on at night because of the power outage. The staff where you check in an out are horrible. They were very unwilling to help us print out our boarding passes to fly home. One told me he did not speak English when he so obviously did because he was helping people check in. He just didnt want to be bothered. I was in tears. There were never any wash clothes or handtowels in our room except for the very first nigh. We could not communicate with housekeeping because they did not speak English. Our phone did not work in our room so we could not call. There was no clock, pen or paper in our room. Weird. The food was so very salty. We were told by several people that the hotel is being sold so that is why no one cares. Is that why we got such a good deal? Our experience was not a very good one. Had we known it was going to be like this we never would have spent the money. This hotel should not be a Golden Apple. If we could have come home sooner we would have.

After the office gave us our room key, we walked in and the maids weren't there yet, so they upgraded us to a beautiful king room with living room. Good to know there were safes in the room...for peace of mind. If you tip the servers, they are so appreciative and will be extra nice when they see you the next time. I was a little disappointed that the ocean water had a good bit of seaweed in it.... but sometimes not too much. Overall, the Ocean Blue and Sand was a great place to stay and there was everything you need for a wonderful vacation, even if you don't take any excursions.

Horrible honeymoon

There were so many things wrong with this resort. The food was almost inedible except for the pineapple, pizza, French fries and cold cereal. We paid extra to get the privilege services and it was a complete waste of time and money! There was a huge list online and in the room that we were supposed to get and we didn't get hardly any of it. The ocean "view" room was a joke, you could see a sliver of the water from the balcony. We complained to many people about the things wrong with our room and privilege services but no one ever fixed anything or followed up. In order to get extra washcloths I had to leave a $5 tip, this was after asking two different people to get extra wash cloths. The service in the restaurants were poor, multiple guests had to get their own silverware and had to get up and ask for water refills at most every restaurant. The swimming pool was nice but we hated that they closed at 6pm, we were really wanting to do some night/evening swimming. As far as the room issues, the jets in the jacuzzi didn't work more than 5 minutes after taking an hour to fill the tub, the outdoor shower stopped working more than once mid shower, the floors in the upper level and the outdoor shower were filthy. Very unhappy with this resort, we also talked to multiple other guests and they all had tons of the same complaints. There were also vendors on the resort that hassled you at all times of the day and you couldn't even go to the privilege side of the beach or the villa restaurant without being hassled. The resort also lost power two times while we were there, once for 4 hours and once for 3 hours. When this happened we quickly learned that this resort would simply tell you anything as long as they thought it was what you wanted to hear. I would never recommend anyone to go to this resort ever!

Concern at Ocean Blue and Sand
KAREN F.
May 10 2018
On morning of 4/30 while in the reception area a gentleman and a woman (not related) both came in and indicated that they had been robbed of money, pass port and jewelry. Went to informational meeting at the Apple station in Building 4 only to find that more individuals had been robbed - all in building 4. Apple reps honestly showed no concern. I contacted my travel agent and he contacted Apple and indicated that they had not been notified. I have traveled out of the country with Apple Vacations and FunJet Vacations and have never experienced a situation such as this one. I was in a group of 6 and unfortunately this made all of us very uncomfortable. Knew that you would like to be aware. Also 4 of the people in our group go to the Ocean Blue and Sand annually. I had been once before and my travel partner had never been out of the country before. I like this resort but concerned about the safety. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate in every way. No concerns with any service of any hotel staff.

Safety is a huge concern. No locks on doors, multiple robberies on resort. Staff is rude and unhelpful. Beach is dirty and locals walk onto resort without security stopping them. Locals try to sell drugs to tourists that are trying to relax on the beach. The food is poorly prepared and will have pieces of plastic in it. There is a large sanitation problem: toilets do not flush and faucets do not have running water. It would not be surprising to lift the toilet lid to find it filled with feces and urine. Hotel staff refused to give extra bottles water in the room, I was told to wait until the next day when the mini fridge was restocked. When asked a question, staff members working in the buffet would just walk away from me without trying to help. Housekeeping staff is lazy. I was in the room while housekeeping "cleaned." The bathroom was not cleaned, swept, or sanitized. Bath towels were changed. On my the flat sheet of the bed was changed and the area near the sliding glass door was poorly swept. The safe would pop open even when the screen would say "closed." Experienced power outages as well. Main door would pop open if not slammed shut. Had to use the same beach towel for the entire trip because they were not changed out. No authentic dominican food available on the resort which was very disappointing.i have already recommended for people not to stay here. I did not feel safe at all on this trip nor did I remotely enjoy myself. It was a complete waste of my time and money. I could not be any more upset.

A very average all-inclusive resort. If you like that kind of thing, you'll probably enjoy this one.

This is a budget all-inclusive resort. If you like all-inclusive resorts, you'll probably like it enough. If you don't enjoy them, you'll hate it. An all-inclusive resort like this one allows you to pack luggage, as though you're travelling somewhere exotic, only for you to hang with a bunch of other tourists on a small patch of land completely divorced from the country in which you incidentally happen to be. The food is not good and is not at all authentic but it is unlimited and easily accessible. The alcohol is just okay but it is also unlimited and usually within a few feet of where you're sitting. The beach is better than Lake Michigan, or wherever you live, but it's not pristine nor is it overly swimmable due to seaweed. But it's certainly decent enough for your budget all-inclusive vacation. We stayed in a room in the privilege building. I have no idea if that designation makes an ounce of difference, since it's the only room I saw, but it was well air-conditioned and sufficiently clean and spacious. The house-keeping staff are incredibly kind and hard-working and are surely getting tipped less often than they deserve to be so, if you do come here, please tip them. The restaurants are just barely modified versions of the buffet. The food is largely gross but, again, this is your budget all-inclusive vacation we're talking about. It'll fill you up when you're hungry. The weather and scenery will probably be much better than wherever you're coming from. You won't have to cook or do laundry or spend any energy thinking about what to eat or what to do (since there are basically no options). If this sounds nice to you, you'll probably be happy here. If you prefer that your days be filled with activities of your own choosing that don't involve rotating between one loud pool and one mediocre beach all day long, just skip all-inclusives altogether. Go rent an apartment on AirBnB in a real city -- yes even in the Caribbean -- and enjoy the adventures of travelling. But if you just want to chill and put your brain on hold for a bit, this'll probably do the trick.

we enjoyed the service, pool, beach, food and drinks. The staff was exceptional, especially Chocolate, the activity person for pool and evening entertainment. The trams were also a good feature. Only complaint is the phone did not have any I.D. info on the buttons to know what service we needed to call.

We found this resort on a Groupon deal and stayed from June 14th - June 17th, 2018. I don't know what those that had negative reviews about this place were complaining about. It definitely was not our experience. The resort was beautiful! The grounds were well kept. The food was great for an all-inclusive. The buffet was plentiful with lots of variety. No reservations were needed for the restaurants except the Japanese. We were only there for 3 nights, and we forgot to make reservations for the Japanese restaurant, but they accommodated us anyway! The staff was attentive and friendly. While we didn't have the privilege armbands, I didn't feel we were treated badly at all. There was the up-charge for top shelf alcohol but that was only about $3-$4 dollars which I didn't find unreasonable as they gave you plenty. I didn't give it 5 stars for 2 reasons... the resort had an energetic entertaining staff; however, the entertainment was geared only toward Spanish speaking travelers. I mean, hey, you can only take but so much karaoke in Spanish only. There are English only speaking guests too, mix it up. And 2nd, aggressive vendors on the resort. I expect aggressive vendors on the beach or when you venture outside the resort but on the property was annoying. I don't go on vacation to be harassed. Take the no and move on! I read the reviews prior to going and saw people complain about theft. We made sure we locked any valuables inside our luggage before venturing out. I heard of no robberies while we there. I do suggest you book your roundtrip transportation from the airport to the resort before arrival as I did hear of some overcharging to get from the airport to the resort. We booked with Trafic Tours and it was very reasonable for roundtrip transfers for 2 people at $110. Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely go back again.

We came to this hotel on a family/senior trip. Expecting and hearing wonderful things about this hotel, until we arrived. No one received you at the lobby. Once we got to the rooms they were outdated. Let me talk to you about this so called “all inclusive “ what they are serving you is mixed alcohol (waterred down) if you asked for more alcohol they complained. They were not attentive and gave you attitude for any special requests. The only people who were allowed Top shelf alcohol (black label, finlandia, absolutel) where the VIP, and they still gave them attitudes for the liquor. At the buffet the only 1 they had food was the same for the 4 days we stayed the tables were dirty 24/7 I had to clean my own table, chase servers down for silverware and water. If you asked them they will always say “yeah yeah” and waited for 15 minutes for water. Not even with TIPS would they take care of you. My last night my husband got sun poisoning and we called room service for raw oatmeal. They declined at first and we specifically told them it was an emergency and they took 35 by foot to bring us the Oatmeal it was a shame. Do not stay here spend your money elsewhere the beach is not even close to what the promote not even white sand. We will neveeerr come back here again we should get our money back for cleaning my own table and getting my own water😒
