Good place for boys/girls trips

This is a great resort if you are out with the boys or girls. Lots of bachelor and bachelorette parties when we were there. It's also a 5 minute walk from the club strip. Don't expect to get any authentic Mexican culture unless you leave Cancun and go to Tullum or other surrounding towns. Not a great resort for kids... No kids pool or organized kids activities that I saw. Also not great for a romantic getaway. It's pretty crowded and gets moderately loud at night. Food was better than average with a good buffet selection. All in all good experience if you are going to a place to party. Pick Tullum if you wa t a place to relax. More>

Stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks. Along with our friends. Just got back today. The staff are absolutely fabulous, friendly, polite and extremely helpful. You can't fault the hard work the staff put in to keep this hotel pristine. The position of the hotel is perfect as it on the beach, loadsofpool areas and walk-in distance from the brilliant night life. More>

Excellent holiday

Just got back from 2 glorious weeks here at the Riu Cancun. All I can say is wow. The food is excellent in the Miramar restaurant with so much choice and different menu each day. The waiters are so attentive especially our little Eusebio, not one day would he let our wine glasses be empty and always cleared our plates quickly once we finished. A couple of downsides was we only got around the pool once as everyone would get down and reserve the beds early and not use them till late afternoon, so we ventured down to the beach where you can always find a bed and the waiter comes down to take orders for drinks. Also the entertainment. It was really good only you could not understand the entertainment staff when they spoke as it always sounded muffled and they spoke very quickly in Spanish and English. Other than that, can not fault the hotel, there is always someone going around cleaning, maid service everyday and minibar topped up daily. Thank you Riu Cancun you made a holiday we can treasure. This was me and my girlfriends first trip to Cancun... We decided on this hotel after reading many reviews.. And this summed up perfectly what we were looking for. We wanted hotel that was quite young there was a good mixture though we met people of all ages that were really friendly and close to all the nightlife.. It sure was. The rooms were nice and modern.. The aircon and fan combined always made the room lovely to go back to after being in the mexican sun for to long. The shower was lovely and the beds very nice to. My favourite thing was the optics the tequila was my downfall on a couple of occasions 😱 We didnt have the best view but still could see some sea not that it bothered us to much though. All the staff were lovely, especially the barstaff and waiters they were always smiling and willing to help you whenever needed and some could speak good english as well.. Be careful though as they do love to offer you a tequila or two!! The food there was always plenty of different options for all types of food lovers. The salad was lovely always fresh and a big selection as well. The drink on offer were good as well alot of reconisable brands which you need to ask for or they will give you the local stuff. The entertainment wernt really my cup of tea at night but it always drawed in a big crowd so it couldnt of been that bad!! The entertainment in the day however was always a laugh my favourite being the water bomb fight right laugh after a couple tequilas😂 There is 4 different pools alltogether the best being the one with the swim up bar but there is a pool round the side which is quiet and chilled if thats your thing.. The beach was really nice as well one side is a bit rocky.. But the other side is perfect. This hotel is in walking distance of the main strip where all the best nightlife is (coco bongo is a must i would go for the lowest package as we were in the middle of it all dancing all night but if you prefer to chill and watch the show maybe the middle package) we didnt get a cab once to or from the strip apart from the first night on the bar crawl as we could berely stand. Also thompson charge alot more for excursions than the vendors i would recommend the bar crawl they offer which will give you an idea of what the place is about.. But we met some really genuine people on there that we spoke to for the rest of the holiday.. Also riu palace is litrally right next door or you can walk straight down the beach to it (2 min walk) the sun seems to go from the pool about 5pm but if you walk next door the suns out for another hour or so for you hardcore sun bathers. But yeah i was really impressed with hotel i thought it was perfect for me and my gfs first time so far across the pond.. Already thinking of booking up next year with mates and there girlfriends.. PERFECT!!! More>

Fantastic Hotel - Absolute Paradise

Just returned from two weeks in absolute paradise. The Riu Cancun has to be the best hotel I've ever stayed in, we just didn't want to leave! The location was perfect, a short walk from the hotels and the nightlife area, but not noisy at all, just the right distance away. Bus stop around the corner which for 10.5 peso you can travel all the way up and down the Hotel Zone. The bedrooms were cleaned everyday, in room optics and fridges topped up every two days. Great air con, great showers, massive beds and plenty of storage place for clothes. Food was tremendous, never ending buffet with something for everyone and varied every night. Dined in the Steakhouse & the Asian A La Carte - great experience & food. The sports bar also has burgers, sandwiches available 24 hours a day. The Pools were clean, well maintained and the swim up bar was just something else! Drinks were well made, cocktails had plenty alcohol - but not too much and spirits & beers were of a decent quality - specially for an all inclusive resort. Beach was nice, two second walk from the hotel, loungers were comfortable. Staff were friendly, attentive and the animation team were incredible - worked very long hours and they always looked so happy! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend, and would certainly return in the future! p.s only negative point would be the sun lounger situation, I do think they maybe need to manage this a bit better, as we had to come down at 6am to get a bed on the good side of the pool (which had sun all day & after 1pm) but I suppose that's the same most places!
