Very nice hotel clean and bright. The employees were very professional and the food options were great! Would like to return soon. The beach was beautiful and clean staff came out early to clean the sand of seaweed and the drinks were good. The staff at the buffet restaurant were quick to clear your table and to bring beverages or utensils

Resort is beautiful but very noisy! If you want a relaxing vacation where you sit and talk to people around the bar this isn't the place! Maybe just because it was spring break and most of the guests were students! Crazy busy at the swim up bar, pool was packed with students! Its a shame that they let so many in to the resort at one time! Food was great and room and view were lovely. Thinking it may have been a different experience if it hadn't been spring break! Shows were so/so. Animation team tries to keep things fun, very friendly! We will never go back in March

Great Hotel!

Only bad thing I could say is our room had a moist smell to it, but our friends rooms were fine. The beds aren't the softest, but you're not their to sleep! The staff are super friendly! Visit Kikke in dining, he's so sweet and adorable!! Fernando is also amazing! I loved every bit of him! If you're looking for a good time, go out to the night life with him and his crew, they will take care of you! The food was good and the pools are great! The location is great too, 5min walk to the bars/club. I came to Cancun a few years ago and stayed at Barcelo a bit down the hotel zone, but Riu is the place to be!

Walking distance from Cancun City!

The resort itself is beautiful! I have no complaints for the location. It is about 5 min. walking distance from Cancun city (nightclubs, restaurants, shops) so you rarely have to take a cab anywhere. The rooms were always clean, however twice, me and my boyfriend came back from the beach around 4-5 pm and the maid still hadn't reached our room to clean so we had to tell her to forget about it. Probably because there are so many rooms to clean, they didn't get a chance to do ours yet (we were on the 15th floor). The food: Was generally really tasty, fresh and warm. The only thing that bothered me was that it was always the same. They rarely added new things to eat whether it was breakfast, lunch or supper. After a week of being there, it gets kinda boring to have to eat the same meals everyday. Mind you, me and my boyfriend were very open to new things. We always tried to change it up as much as possible. Same with the fruits, it was always the same fruits. For a place like Mexico, I expected to see so many different exotic fruits. It was always the same; pineapple, guava, passion fruit, melon, peach. The beach: I got lucky in terms of weather however, the beach is very narrow and small. There are many rocks (big mountain ones) so it restricts you from many areas on the beach. Also, there's a volleyball court right smack in the centre where the beach chairs are so if you want more of an open space you need to walk down. *Try to avoid the volleyball area if you don't want a ball to the head* (which is exactly what happened to me upon my first day of arrival. I wouldn't recommend this resort for families with children or anyone who is just looking for a quiet relaxing getaway. It's not loud at night to the point where you can't sleep but it does tend to get loud at times. Apart from all the criticism, my overall experience was fantastic. Regardless of all the things I pointed out, it's really no big deal, it's all very bearable. It was my first time in Cancun and I would recommend it to anyone. I particularly enjoyed the great ambience and the location! I can't tell you how convenient it was for us to walk to the city every night. It makes a difference! Tip: If you are looking for an excursion, I insist you do the Chichen Itza tour with "Xcaret Tours". It has to be the most memorable/beautiful experience. You will visit the Mayan village and see one of the 7 wonders of the world (El Castillo). If you do not know what it is, you may google it. It will blow your mind. The tour guide we had was named "Angel". He made the experience all the more wonderful!
