This was my first time at Dominican Republic and I had a lovely time at the Bavaro Princes all Suites Resorts, Spa & Casino, Punta Cana. The food and the drinks where good and the people was just nice. But most of all who maked my trip wonderful was Massiel Vasduez from apple. She is a wonderful and pleasant person. She was very helpful. Jose Arias was very nice and helpful to. I will be going back to DR very soon.

We are off to the Bavaro Princes All Suites Resort, Spa & Casino, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for the sixth time, in less than 3 weeks. Our accommodations have always been the best. We are treated like royalty from the moment we arrive until the moment we leave. We enjoy the variety of the food in the buffet. Every night is a different theme with so much great food to enjoy. The beach, the water, the tranquility, everything exceeds our expectation, year after year. We have taken our family and our friends over the years. This year is a family vacation.

I spent a lot of time searching and reading reviews before booking. This was my first time in DR. The beach was nice and clean but there is a weird type of seaweed and the water is extra salty but the waves are amazing. Overall I loved the beach. I didn't know that this hotel is not in Punta Cana but in Baravo which is a small city 15mins away. This was fine for me because you can walk outside the hotel and see the community. There was good food, shops and nice nightlife walking distance outside the hotel. I loved seeing the culture and this made me like the trip more. I wish I could speak Spanish as I found out most locals do not. Seems like Haitians were the only locals who spoke very good English. Remember you can bargain any and everything down, even with excursions at the hotel. We did the horseback riding and that was interesting and fun because it took you to a very poor area of DR outside or Baravo. This venturing our scares you do not book. The bus ride was about an hour long because we had to pick up tourist at other hotels. Seeing other hotels in Baravo, our hotel was much nicer but seeing other hotels in Punta Cana ours was older. We paid $110 for two people and originally was quoted $120 per person. Great deal.
The food was horrible at the hotel but that is expected at all inclusive. Having to prepare mass quantities of food brings the level down. And this resort is HUGE. And you have to counter in people with strick diets who can't have much salt and so on. $5 will get you a lot of food outside the hotel and the food is good. The Japanese rest. was decent. The steakhouse was a hit or miss. The Argentina steak was seasoned and yummy but the other steak was gross. I didn't try the other restaurants. My family of 3 did not get sick thankfully! But I did notice that they do not enforce the rule like on cruise ships where you have to use hand sanitize before entering dining area. I think this rule helps a lot and I made my family use it every time.
I liked the room a lot. The jacuzzi I only used once because it takes so long to fill up and the water was nice and hot so i loved that. The shower was great too both shower heads. I like how the room/buildings are set up. And realized that the resort wasn't as big as it seems, well it is big but it is walkable and I enjoyed walking.
The employees for the most part were friendly but not as friendly as say Jamaica or Mexico and I think it has a lot to do with the language barrier. I also found out most employees work off commission only like the photographers and excursion sellers.
Overall I wanted a cheap (paid $2300 for 2 adults and 1 child flight from atlanta to DR 5days, 4 nights) vacation. And I was satisfied with what I got for the price. I booked through Apple Vacations and was glad I did because transportation to and from airport was included and there was 2 apple reps working everyday at hotel. Apple also had a beach BBQ on Tuesday which was heaven because it included lobster. Everyone wears a different color wrist band depending on who you book the vacation with.
The wifi in the lobby was ok. You have to go during non peak times like early morning before breakfast or noon when everyone is at beach or late at night 9pm-12am. Any other time it will be a struggle to get on because everyone is on FaceTime, Skype and FB.

I do not understand how this resort received a certificate of excellence from Trip Advisor in 2013 and how the resort can be allowed to advertise this everywhere! It certainly is not a 4 star resort! Trip Advisor should pay them another visit!!!!
I was there with my Aunt from the 16th to the 26th of January. We had the platinum package.
We were given the best room. Right by the beach. No neighbours, 2nd floor. Small sea view. Thats one positive #764
Upon arrival, noticed that there is no furniture to put clothes in. Only the closet which has 3 shelves!!!
One of the shelves was all wet because the air conditioner was not working properly and leaking! Took calling them 3 times to finally fix it. We also learned from other tourists that the resort has set the air-conditioning to go no lower then 23 degrees celsius.
Only king size beds available for Platinum rooms. So I guess it's couples only!!! A single bed was brought in. Super fun to pay for platinum and sleep in a single bed for 10 days!!!!!
Only ask for rooms on the 2nd floor since 1st floor rooms have no privacy. The trolley and people walk by...you can't just sit outside and relax in your robe ...everyone looks at you! Thank God we had second floor.
Also expect to wait forever for room service!!!! Whether you need repairs, water, food, whatever....it'll take forever. The maid sometimes made our room at 4h30 pm!!! The package also says that they clean your room at night....NEVER HAPPENED!
Buffets are horrible!! What else can I say...the food was terrible. Make reservations at the steak house and get the Filet Mignon. Also make reservations for the Italien restaurant because thats really good. Avoid buffets for diner if you can. Trust me, you won't want to be eating buffet 3 times a day!!! You'll get fed up of omelettes in the morning, you'll get fed up of looking at rough fatty beef, and ribs, beans and slushy food. Also, avoid the so called gourmet Licey restaurant. Platinums get a free reservation but others have to pay!!! DO NOT PAY FOR THIS! They serve the same filet mignon at the steak house with the same sides....it's a total rip off. All the dishes have the same sides: mashed potatoes with vegetables. The deserts: chocolate souffle was a piece of hardened like tofu dipped in chocolate. The strawberry mousse was the same tofu like texture.
The beach in Punta Cana is beautiful. That has nothing to do with the resort! Lol. The platinum section has cushioned chairs and beds ....but they're all run down so you'll finish your day with a back ache guaranteed. Also, don't expect beach service. You'll get service maybe twice in the morning. The rest of the day, NOTHING! The waitress disappears and once, the waiter was drinking beer at the small bar instead of serving customers. You'll need to get things yourself so get chairs near the bar loll. If you're not in platinum, you'll need to take the trolley to the beach so good luck getting shade by the time you get there.
Overall: There are 2 trolleys to take you around this huge resort and they usually follow each other back to back so if you miss them, expect to wait 10-15 minutes for the next one. The Platinum section is a must to be near the beach and restaurants because the resort is so big....but it's not a resort worth your money.
Yes it was sunny, yes the beach was beautiful but that has nothing to do with the resort. I did not get my money's worth and the resort is way too highly rated by SunWing and Trip Advisor. I was glad to finally come home after 10 days.

I don't normally write reviews but I feel like I need to for this resort. My husband and I stayed here January 16-23 for our honeymoon. This was our first time to the Dominican and will probably be our last. I got sick the 3rd day we were there and was sick until we left. I spoke with a lot of other people who also got very sick. I'm not sure if it was the food or the drinks, and I drank bottled water the whole time we were there. The only things I could stomach eating was bread, French fries, pickles, and some days a burger or sandwich. I was so turned off because I was sick I didn't really eat much.
Our room was very nice, the shower was awesome and the jacuzzi was ok because the water wasn't really hot. Our pillows sucked and we didn't have an extra blanket in our room, we only got a sheet and a very light comforter. Other resorts I've stayed at always have extras in the room.
We didn't upgrade to platinum because the honeymoon suite had pretty much the same deal for cheaper. We could never get into any restaurants unless we got there half an hour early because you can't make reservations. I figured you could but they are not a la carte restaurants which is silly! You could get right in if you were platinum though. The steak house was disgusting, the ribs were tough and chewy so I didn't even finish my meal. By the 4th day I was ready to come home!
The beach is beautiful, but when I'm on vacation I don't like being hackled by locals. They would come up to you and ask if you want to buy stuff or go on excursions...seriously leave me alone!
The resort is huge, and not very well laid out. We had to take a "train" pretty much everywhere because our room was not in the best area.
I did not have the honeymoon I was expecting and that is very disappointing. This resort has made me not want to come back to Dominican!
