I have a lot to say about this resort, some good, but plenty bad. This is my first all-inclusive experience, and although it was nice, it definitely took a lot before I felt completely comfortable. Let's begin with a few problems: (1) Our room had a terrible smell coming from the AC vents, complained and was told that we would only get a new room "when/if" someone checked out the next day. (2) The next day we spoke to reception/ guest services about being compensated in some way for the extreme inconvenience we were put through. They told us they would offer a fruit basket (at most) since they had "found a solution." We were appreciative of the solution, but to even stand in the room, the AC had to be turned off before the terrible smell spread around the room. Also, one of the two sinks did not drain. We got a questionable fruit "plate" that looked like the morning fruit messily wrapped in cellophane (no card or anything). Then another day they sent another fruit basket (this time neater) with a card (with no apology..just saying complimentary fruit basket or something). They also said they'd give us champagne, but that didn't happen. (3) The food was mostly terrible. 4/5 restaurants made us feel sick after. La Hispaniola had options but we got sick of the food pretty fast. (4) Limited fruit selection: We were looking forward to eat really fresh, ripe fruit! Unfortunately, the ONLY time we had a delicious, ripe mango was during the sushi making class...other than that..most of the fruit were light in color and low in taste. (5) Wifi in the lobby sucked, I'd spring for the $5/ day wifi that will travel with you. (6) Can't make reservations unless you are a platinum member...quite silly because we saw many people waiting to be seated often. Luckily, guest services offered us platinum reservation ability due to our room nonsense. (7) As expected, the alcohol was watered down and the drinks were way too sugary. Some things we did enjoy: (1) Entertainment was nice, really kept the crowd going although I doubt some of their professionalism. (2) The beach was BEAUTIFUL. Despite how busy it was, we always found seats near the beach and the pool! (3) Trolleys helped everyone get around. (4) Well kept grounds. Bottom line: Would I come back to this exact resort? Most likely not More>

Having just returned from a two week break here I have to write and tell you how wonderful this resort is. Booked via teletext holidays. Flew direct with BA from Gatwick. Arrived early afternoon. Check in was smooth and easy, although I really wasn't prepared for the heat!!! Took me by surprise. Our suite couldn't of been more inviting. Although we were missing a bed that was soon rectified. Not complaining. Lots of complementary bathroom products incase you forget or run out. Plenty of good quality towels. We spent most of our time around the main pool which in the afternoon is where there are plenty of events for everyone to get involved in. Mainly the adults to be fare. I don't have young children. At times it did feel like an 18-30's holiday which we liked. The animation team, Henry, Hector, Leo, Justin Beiber to name a few really keep the mood going. There are plenty of sun loungers in the shade. The pool is cleaned daily. You are given towel cards to get clean pool towels daily. We met a couple who had their towels pinched. They had to pay $100 !! For the first ten days. I was ill but nothing to do with the hotel. Infact they went out of their way to accommodate and help me. The food is all top quality and although I had little appetite. So much to choose from. All beautifully presented. We only ate in the lobby twice. As the individual restaurants were excellent. We chose to have breakfast at the beach restaurant which is much quieter, I can't say which was a favourite eating place as they were all equally fantastic with excellent service. No queuing or waiting times. All the staff go above and beyond to make your stay a good one. The beach is just like you see in the brochure. Very clean. Well maintained. The gardeners collect any seaweed debri, or any rubbish, but there are plenty of bins. Plus I like the fact this hotel is hot on recycling!!! The gardener will climb the palms to cut down a fresh coconut for you if you ask !!! I paid an extra $5 a night to have the wifi box. Which you carry in your purse. Charge in the room. But works wherever you go. And as many phones as you wish can connect to it. Well worth it. There are a few shops at the resort which have extortionate prices $11 for a packet of crisps !!! Totally overpriced to purchase anything. Also the downside is the trips or water sports which they try to sell you. We did do a few. But had to really negotiate the price. But to be honest I wouldn't rate any of them or recommend them at all. I would recommend the hotel however if you want quality, cleanliness, good food and superb service. Beautiful walks in well kept grounds with its own nature reserve all of the animals are well cared for and well fed. A tram runs regular if you don't want to walk. Or have problems getting about. I didn't see many English families, not that I am complaining but lots of friends were made from the USA It does get very hot very quick here and it's impossible to walk about without shoes on even just from the sunbed to the pool. Raphy and Edmund who work the pool bar are always smiling and super quick. More>

Just came back from visiting the resort August 2016. The resort was beautiful and the gorgeous grounds were amazing. The staff, frome the front desk, cleaning and grounds keepers were friendly and went out of the way to assist us and answer any questions. The meals were plentiful and delicious. The night of our arrival we were served a delicious melt in your mouth ribeye from the grill, unfortunately it was only served once during our 5 day stay. Francisco's Chocolates is a must for the chocolate lover's. My only regret was we did not stay longer. Some our favorites besides the delicious ribeye were the au gratin potatoes, brownies, omelette bar, pasta bar and grilled pork chops. The Capirinhas were a big hit as well. I will go back again. This place was very nice! The bus that takes you from place to place is nice since the property is so large. Walking is also nice because the grounds were beautiful! You can see peacocks grazing along as you walk. The buffet here was extra nice! Not just random food, it was time and care taken to prepare the dinners, and the drinks were top notch! More>
