November Bavaro Princess

We traveled end of November to Bavaro in the Dominican Republic and found the weather to be amazing. The resort is well groomed and taken care of. The food was that of a typical large AI. For the most part people were amazing. We had a few issues with the door in one of our rooms as well as the safes. Maintenance repaired and all was well. The only real issue I have is that the Atlantic side of D.R. is pretty rough. If I had to choose again I would have booked a resort on the Caribbean side where the sea is much calmer. But for the kids they had a good time with the waves. Overall I would recommend this resort. More>

Traveled with friends for 7 days. Awesome service, great suites - we were half way between the beach and the lobby which was perfect for us. The spa is beautiful, clean and classy but still down to earth - not showy. Loved it. They kept the grounds clean, our rooms were clean. The food was good with a great selection, but it still buffet food. The Italian restaurant had excellent selection. Great time. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a mid range resort. Wish the lobby where only wifi was smoke free. More>

The resort was gorgeous. the pictures on trip advisor are deceiving because the beach is nothing close to as clear as the pictures, it was kind of upsetting because we chose the DR thinking the water would be gorgeous... We were there for our honeymoon and they upgraded the room to be right next to the beach free of charge. the tub stopper was messed up and someone was there to fix it within 2 minutes. The food was less than average, we are from the U.S. so we ate hibachi every night pretty much because it was the only thing that was somewhat decent. My husband was throwing up the entire time and we went to the Dr. on the resort. DO NOT GO TO THE DR ON THE RESORT!!!! it was $130 for them just to look at my husband and after a shot and some nausea medicine (that we could have gotten at the gift shop for less than $40 for the 3 different medications. they were ALL over the counter) the total of the Dr. bill came out to $500. it was ridiculous to say the least!!!! They have daily entertainment at the pool which is enjoyable. More>

Service is Top Notch!

We booked the Platinum package and had private check in, where everyone was pleasant and happy to help us check in. We requested by e-mail a ocean view room but none were available but still had a nice room location. The room is large and well cleaned, but limited space to store your clothing. The extra's included with the platinum package were nice, especially the massage. The private platinum club was a little disappointing, there was a stocked bar, but never a bartender. They would bring you a drink from a closet but it was not as nice as the main lobby bar with bartenders and snacks like popcorn, peanuts etc. The Wi-Fi is too slow to use. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The food was plentiful and plenty of choices from buffet to restaurants. The food was average to above average for an all inclusive resort. the lobster dinner at Pescador was the only restaurant where we received below average service. The service was too slow and not friendly. Every other area of the resort the service and attitude was excellent. The resort is not as large as we expected, we were able to walk everywhere with ease, but there is a tram if needed. The beach was beautiful, the waves were a little strong for non-swimmers but still very enjoyable. The pool bar was nice with excellent and friendly service. We enjoy pool activities like water volleyball, this fell short in our opinion as all activities where on the beach. But the animation team were all still super nice and friendly. I wanted to give the resort 5 stars but a few areas fell short, but I will give the employees 6 stars. If you are platinum check out the Punta Cana Princess it is an adults only sister resort, also very nice. I would return to this resort next time I am visiting Punta Cana. More>

Okay but not great

I have mixed feelings about this resort. First off, I must say I disagree with anyone who complains about the Dominican people. Everyone who we met was extremely friendly and helpful. I did not experience any negative attitudes that you might read about. What I found was some patients and some willingness to try to speak Spanish went a long way. I did tip a dollar here and a dollar there which could have helped but I most certainly did not tip my way to good service. As for the resort, our room was...meh. It was fairly nice but could have been cleaner. There were hairs in the shower when we arrived and our mattress was extremely old. The room had a strong scent of mildew and could have benefited from a dehumidifier. To me, this wasn't a problem. To my wife, however, this made her stay uncomfortable and less enjoyable. The pools and resort facilities were extremely clean and well maintained. The beach was clean and while there was a lot of seaweed I did not find it offputting. The food was below average. While it was nice to not have to put in reservations, that sometimes meant a wait similar to what you'd experience at home during a Friday or Saturday evening. We ate at the Italian restaurant twice, the Japanese steakhouse once and the seafood restaurant once. The Italian was obviously our favorite. This restaurant was extremely well managed. We were impressed to observe the manager constantly communicating with his staff to ensure they were providing exceptional service. We made sure to thank him personally after our second meal there. While the service was good at all of the restaurants, the food was just plain bad. No all-inclusive is going to provide great food, but this was below the standards we've come to accept at other all-inclusive resorts. This resort claims to be bigger. I did not find that to be the case. My wife and I easily walked to the beach and to the front lobby. They did provide a shuttle but we rarely needed it. I also did not find this resort to have a lot of activities. I thought when I booked the resort that this was attached to the other Princess Resorts in Punta Cana making it part of a large complex. I've stayed at resorts setup like this which made a group of small resorts into one massive one. That was not the case here. I believe there is a group of Princess resorts on the island but this unfortunately was not part of them. The middle of the resort had a walk through which was very pretty. It had water with turtles and other wildlife with pretty trees and a bridge. Unfortunately, the smell in this area is almost unbearable. I don't think that this is the resorts fault but it detracted from what could have been a beautiful area of the resort. The entertainment at the hotel was very good. It might have been the best of any all-inclusive that I've stayed at. It was not broadway but everyone tried hard and put on a good show. More>
