This was are nine time to Mexico and all of them but 1 with Apple vacation and I would have to say this was on of the best trips we have been on . From the time we arrive to the time we left the stuff was on top of everything. The room and the beach where amazing and the food was outstanding! We are already planning on going back next year as this will be the 10th time to Mexico for us and there is no doubt that we will leave it in the hands of Apple to take care of that for us. The moment we stepped off the van we were greeted with such kindness and hospitality. We felt so welcomed. It took a while to get our room but they kept us entertained and did eventually switch our rooms so we didnt have to wait any longer. The food was phenomenal! So much better than we expected. The swim up bar, swing bar on the beach and bars in the resort were all wonderful. We were hoping for a bit of a better beach but that was out of their control and they compensated for it very well. The rooms and ground were very well kept and inviting. Overall it was an incredible experience. We will most definitely be back!

The thing that bothered me the most....the lady who booked it had been there! I specifically asked about blue water..."oh yes, it's beautiful" NO> it looked like Myrtle Beach. I asked the locals they said that particular resort NEVER had blue water....that's what I go for....I'm never in my room so my room is important but not as important as beach...AND I ASKED THAT SPECIFICALLY...was the resort nice..yes...but will I go back...NO.

The hotel room air conditioning system was very loud. The pictures of the ocean showed beautiful water, not the seaweed that was actually there.

This was our 5th visit to Now Sapphire and 6th to a Now resort. We love how we always feel like VIP Guests, even if we haven't upgraded to Preferred. We have been to Mexico 13 times and all have been booked with Apple. We have never been disappointed. We have our 14th trip (to Punta Cana this time) and another Now resort. Thank you Apple and thank you Now for being our home away from home!

My wife and I were impressed with the Now Sapphire. We have stayed at several other chains in other locations, this is by far our favorite. All staff seemed happy to be at work, even when it was hot. The hotel was clean, food selection was good, and bar service was great. Concierge was happy to tune the t.v. in the Eclipse Nightclub to the Cubs game several nights during our stay. They even found the game in English for us. The entertainment staff did an excellent job of getting people involved but they were not pushy when you politely declined. The only issue was the lack of clarity in the water, which is not the resorts fault. Other than that, we will be back!

We loved our stay at the resort and we plan to come back with our daughter next time since it was very kid friendly. However, I didn't like the pressure that was put on us to attend the vacation seminar breakfast's. I felt harassed by some of the staff to the point my husband and I didn't even want to walk through the lobby area when we needed to. I think this is something the resort needs to look into and consider changing.

The hotel was good but not excellent. The highlight was the sandbar, the bartenders where excellent there. I think if we had to book again, we would have stayed at the Royal Sands in Cancun. Some of the staff went out of there way to make our trip wonderful and others seemed indifferent to our requests. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed our time there. The one downside was the check in process, our flight can in at 10 and they would not let us check in until 3pm. We had to pay $420.00 upgrade charge to be able to check in at 1 pm and also get a preferred room.

I recommend this hotel if you are looking for better than average, but not five star. The hotel was very clean, staff was friendly, and the only real draw back was needing to wake up early to secure pool lounge chairs. Dress codes for dinner are not enforced other than one restaurant.

Nice Hotel But.......

We spend 6 days on this Hotel out of only 4 were really enjoyable (more on that later). My first impression was not a good one as we were NOT greeted with the usual fresh towels and champagne, we never received our welcome champagne and fruit basket in our room either. I am a UVC member and have traveled to at least 9 other locations so these services are what I am used to. The UVC representative took us to the Preferred Lounge. Here we had something to eat and drink as our rooms were not ready once our rooms were ready we were taken to our rooms via golf cart. The lobby is big and offers great seating and nice views. Here you will find Coco Café, a night time bar, Desires and the Theater I just wish they had more comfortable sitting at the Theater and don’t allow people to smoke there. Food - We had breakfast both at the Market Buffet and the a la carte Blue Grill (this is a preferred only restaurant for breakfast with amazing views) service was prompt and courteous. Most of our lunches were either by the Blue Grill or getting snacks at the Barefoot Grill were we had hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, salads and some paella. We had dinner at each restaurant as we tried them all. All of them had a great ambiance and good service with the exception of the French restaurant (details on this below), we had the best waiter team at Blue Water Grill and loved our dinner there, enjoy our time and show at the Hibachi table in the Lemongrass, but we specially loved the food at Cibu where Heriberto took good care of us. Now going back to the Paramour restaurant (French Restaurant) here is my take into the NO reservation policy I never had an issue in other hotels were the regular wait time is between 1/2hr to 45minutes but on this particular night because of 2 weddings going on at the resort they closed 2 restaurants for dinner, which made the wait time almost 2hrs on each restaurant. My problem is that after we waited almost 2hrs we went in and the restaurant was half empty, I was thinking it would be full and loud and won’t be able to enjoy my meal to make matters worse after we were seated the table next to us was occupied as well, we saw how fast our neighbors were taken care off with drinks and food orders right away. I am usually calm but you see I am a Diabetic person who at this point was famished and thirsty but no one put attention to us. Management if you are going to close 2 restaurants and have a Hotel at 95% capacity, kindly provide more waiters so the service goes smooth. Beach – the water was not as clear as I would have imagine but the sand was soft they have plenty of palapas and lunge beds to enjoy the breeze. There was some seaweed but nothing intolerable, the hotel has workers out there every day keeping it a bay. Make sure to tip those guys because they are some hard workers we always try to tip one individual every day and provide with some water. Pool - The pool was big but cold at first once you are in for a while it will get better, people around the pool were having a nice time and being entertained by the staff. We tent to stay by the core zone pool as I was traveling with teens and that is where we spend most of the time the pool there was also cold and hard to get out of. The Core Zone – this was the main reason why we choose this hotel, as I was traveling with 4 teenagers they were particular excited to utilized this zone, they have ping pong tables, foosball, pool table and air jockey, they also have a basketball court in the pool they used it day and night. We wished it had better illumination at night time and would love to see more staff around to enjoy some competitive tournaments. Room – I particularly didn’t like the position of the rooms; we were in the preferred side but with a tropical view, as this resort has very few ocean view rooms, the bed was not comfortable although they try to put in some sort of foam to make it a bit firmer as it was too soft for my taste, the shower is dated not a lot water pressure and off and on hot water depending the time of the afternoon you were using it, it only has one sink; it does come with a separated bidet. Room A/C was the worst, no ceiling fan either (the other two rooms we booked had a better AC). I just hope for more sun in our balcony. Spa – We utilized the spa only for the hydro circuit which is very relaxing, the facilities are well kept and very nice, we also took advantage of the Temazcal ritual which we loved, highly recommended. Nightlife - After dinners we will head to the lobby to relax on the ample siting space and enjoyed the nightly lobby performance solo singer, jazz player etc. Around 10:30pm we will head to Desires, the dance club, which was also a hit and miss depending of the DJ of the night and the crowd that was already there but we made the best out of it did not stay pass 11am unless we got a hold of the pool table and my kids and husband will play until pass midnight. The service staff is absolutely incredible; they are the main reason why we enjoyed this hotel, special thanks to the following staff who made our vacation memorable: Alberto at the Market Café, Alejandro and Moises at the Bluewater Grill, Feliciano at the Pool bar, Salatiel and Ivan our servers by the beach and pool, Jorge our Pool concierge and Sandra, Daniel and Cici from the entertainment group. Now why I didn’t enjoy my last days at the Hotel, people have to be aware that every year this hotel hosts “Strings and Sol” some sort of rock convention/concert. The Hotel closes for regular vacationers in order to accommodate the concert community to have full access of the amenities. The concert staff and concert goers stared to pour in by the hundreds, Wednesday we were unable to enjoy part of the beach as they were building a massive stage with tons of equipment being transported from the lobby to the beach area, lots of noise, people etc. I tried to go to my room to get a nap before dinner, but was impossible my room was next to a master suite which was full of people screaming, drinking and smoking. Thursday night was a chaos the wait time increased for dinner and never mind trying to enjoy the lobby after dinner, we tried to use the pool table by the Desires club and were asked to leave because they had a meeting (good thing they have the additional pool table by the Core Zone) It was impossible to get thru Coco Café or the bar in the lobby. Also the amount of people smoking was intolerant in my opinion hotel should reserve special places for the fellow smokers; I HATE second hand smoke. Also I read a lot of comments about Cancun being not safe, well we witness a drug transaction right by the beach in front of us, when I tell you that these people knew each other from the past I am a hundred percent of that as I speak perfect Spanish and understood everything that was being said, which made me wonder why people complaint about security in Cancun when the tourists are the ones looking for the product. When I went to complain to the staff they didn’t seem to care that much about my comments; I know is good business for the Hotel to host these kind of events but at least have a warning when you are booking so you can decide if you want to go, reduce you vacation stay or simply switch hotels, if I had known ahead of time perhaps I would have done 4 days at Now and 2 at a different hotel perhaps Dreams Cancun or Now Jade, instead of leaving with the bad impression in this Hotel.

Loved our destination wedding experience at the Now Sapphire
LindsiGish, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Wed Dec 13 08:48:01 EST 2017
We had our destination wedding at the Now Sapphire, and are so incredibly happy with our experience. It was scary choosing a resort we had never visited, but we trusted TripAdvisor reviews like this one, and rolled with it. I’ll try to be thorough here, in hopes that it will help other brides in the future! THE RESORT The resort itself is beautiful. The lobby area is open, airy, and clean. It’s small enough to navigate easily, but large enough that our group could spread out. Our room (preferred ocean front) was beautiful—so nice to relax in the balcony hot tub and soak our feet after a long day/night of dancing or walking. We heard zero complaints from other guests about their rooms—with the exception of a couple that were not ready by check-in time. The non-preferred rooms were a little confusing to get to, but once you figured it out it wasn’t bad. The free paddle boards and kayaks were awesome, and the fitness center was a nice perk too. If you're freaked out by animals... then you probably won't love the coatis that were running around. They're adorable (to us!) and totally avoid people, so nothing to be worried about. We thought they were awesome. THE POOLS & BEACH The main pool is massive—it’s big enough that there are plenty of areas to go where there are no other people—although the competition for the chairs is fierce. You have to save them by 8am or so, or you’re unlikely to get a spot by the pool. It’s the same by the beach—lots of people put their stuff out early, eat breakfast, and then hang out there all day. We lovingly called the preferred pool “the library” because it was so mellow and quiet most of the time. The staff there was amazing—kept the mango mojitos and beers flowing for our guests. There is another pool in the kids/sports area—we never went in it, but it’s there if you want to swim laps or something else. The beach was lovely when we were there—they sweep up the seaweed every morning so it was very clean. THE FOOD It’s an all-inclusive resort—the reality is, they are not gourmet food havens. However, it was the best food I’ve had at an all-inclusive to date. Paramour was totally overrated in my opinion—but Lemongrass (where they cook on the tables) and Fresco (the Mexican place) were delish. The buffet always had tons of options and appealed to everyone’s tastes. The CoCo Cafe was so nice for some espresso and pastries when we didn’t feel like going to the buffet—and the preferred lounge had some nice snacks options too. The only real complaint is that 4 of our guests got sick. Luckily, it was on the last day—but definitely seemed to be food-related. Our guess was the buffet scrambled eggs… but who knows! Also… it’s Mexico. The reality is, if you’re going with a big group, someone’s bound to get a stomach bug. It is what it is. THE WEDDING This is totally a wedding resort. One of the staff told us they do 500 weddings each year… crazy! There were two other weddings the same day as ours, but surprisingly, we only ran into one of the brides, and it wasn’t until later in the night after the receptions were over and we were getting coffee. They kept us all pretty compartmentalized and I didn’t feel shepherded around or like they had a ton of other priorities. We had a beach ceremony, and party by the preferred pool. It was a nice setup for both. Juan Carlos was our coordinator, and he was great. He graciously and patiently answered all of my questions by email leading up to the wedding day, and was easy to find when we met with him when we arrived. He calmed me down on the wedding day, and we felt safe in his capable hands. The delivery of the welcome bags to the rooms was a little bit of a mess... they were all really late and got delivered at different times. Not a huge deal except that they had things people needed for the ceremony, and they weren't all delivered before the wedding happened (even if the guest had been there for 24 hours). I had to check on them like 3-4 different times. If I had known, I'd probably have done a welcome party in the lobby and just handed the bags out directly. The wedding food was the best food we had. Everyone raved about all of it. We chose the tortilla soup, spinach salad, beef tournedos (basically just steak), fish filet, and fruit tartlet—all great. The one thing I would say is do NOT pay extra for cake for extra guests (if you have more than what’s included in your package). We cut the cake and then never saw it again… they had put it out on the dinner tables but no one was over there and didn’t know they had set it out. The wedding staff was wonderful—especially Alberto. He remembered everyone’s names and drink orders. Package-wise, we chose the eternity package. It was the right choice for us. I had my friend do my wedding day makeup, so they let me have my makeup done the night before instead. My hair on my wedding day was lovely... she did a great job. We decided to hire out the DJ (Uno Audiovisual) and photography (Photostudio AB), because the quality and the price was just way better than what the resort offered. We also got outside flowers (for Floreria Riviera) for very cheap—as other reviewers said, we walked outside the resort gates, paid cash, and walked the flowers back inside to avoid the outside vendor fees. It was not an issue at all. If you're not sure if you should tip, just tip. They appreciate it greatly. We brought a huge envelope full of cash to tip everyone—the wait staff, Juan Carlos, our photog, our videographer, our DJ, our bartenders, the hairstylist, everybody. OVERALL Our guests loved the resort—so many people told us how much fun they had, and everyone seemed so happy with the environment, the food, and the wedding. We will absolutely consider returning to the Now Sapphire for family vacations in the future!

Great service, mediocre dining
Jenna A,
Tue Dec 12 10:37:09 EST 2017
5 stars for the service, 3 stars for the food. Beautiful beach, clean property, slightly dated rooms but nothing gross. The food was very very salty (and I like my food on the salty side). I'm also gluten-free and I would not recommend this as a gluten-free-friendly establishment. It was obvious that most staff I asked about GF did not know what I was talking about. The one exception was a man in the Mexican themed dinner restaurant who was very on top of the gluten-free thing (he went above and beyond at one point, informing me that I shouldn't be eating my kids french fries because of cross-contamination in the fryer!). I wish I could remember his name! After many days of feeling a bit lost in the culinary sense it felt wonderful to have someone who understands my limitations. I recognize that the all-inclusive model requires cost-cutting at this price point, it was obvious that food was the area where they try to save the most. Kids club opened at 9:30am and closed as late as 10pm. Allowed for a date night for us. Kids were safe and offered a variety of activities every day. We came here over another resort specifically because of the size and scope of the kids club. Activities on the beach are free with tips strongly encouraged. Bring lots of small bills for tips all over the place. We enjoyed paddle boarding several times, kayaking, and were taken out once for some sailing. The activity staff was another plus. I really enjoyed archery with one of the entertainment staff, and how hard she worked to bring a group of strangers together. A bummer for us was when my son was stung by a jellyfish within the roped off swimming area. Staff at one point had assured me that jellyfish weren't an issue. What was most disappointing was the lack of help we got as my son screamed on the beach. I had to carry him until I spotted an employee with a cart and begged him to drive us to the front desk. He informed me he could "when he had finished what he was doing". When we got there we waited for at least 20 minutes for someone to arrive and apply a cream to help with my son's pain. This occurrence may be common for those at the resort, but it is not for us, and it was traumatic for my son. Overall I recommend if food isn't why you're going. I'll be specifically looking for resorts that mention dietary restrictions when I'm researching options in the future. We paid for the ocean-view upgrade with an outdoor jacuzzi and were really happy with the upgrade.

Great Vacation!!

Mon Dec 11 12:16:10 EST 2017
I just came back from a great vacation at the Now Sapphire. I read some reviews before going about how cold the pool is in December, which made me a little concerned since all my kids wanted to do is swim. But after going there and trying it myself, it really was not that bad once you get in. Staff is great, food is ok. I recommend the Blue water grill. The view is amazing and food is pretty good. Hibachi was fun, but food was dry. The buffet I did not like, but it was ok for breakfast. I would visit again I really enjoyed my time there! Please tip the guys that are cleaning all the sea weed on the beach, the do a great job and it is a tedious job. The pool manager George was great and very helpful!!!

BEST RESORT EVER!!!

Mon Dec 11 11:50:09 EST 2017
I'm not sure why Anna said this was the worst hotel they have ever stayed at. I whole-hearted disagree. The resort is immaculate, the food is fantastic, the pool and beach fantastic. Tons of activities to participate in or just sit back and watch. Fernando and Raul were our favorite bar-tenders. Miguel made sure we were well taken care of at the pool. Moises was our favorite server at Fresh Water Grill. I think this was our favorite restaurant. We really hope to return next year. Perfect place for a getaway to forget your troubles and relax!
