Not the glitziest resort on the Riviera Maya but a great experience for families and couples. Food was consistently very good in all venues. We particularly enjoyed the Mexican and Asian restaurants. Overall staff and service were excellent. Recommend the private plunge pool rooms. The premium club in our opinion isn't worth the cost difference. Would recommend this resort to anyone. More>

Great Family Resort!

We were guests over Mother's Day weekend. Had an amazing time! There are lots of great amenities, restaurants and every family member from the little ones (5 years old) to the seniors had things to do that were enjoyable and relaxing! I must admit that while I LOVED the beach and my morning walks on it, I did not get in the water because there was more seaweed than I like to swim with :-) but there are plenty of pool options and I took advantage of all of them! This was our 3rd visit to Cancun, so I didn't leave the property for tours and activities this time, but we enjoyed our four days right on the resort. More>

THE PERFECT ESCAPE

DREAMS seem to be a very appropriate name for this resort! Our stay here was EXCELLENT and memorable, though unfortunately short (4 days). But we got to try a lot of what it has to offer – great food (buffet and a-la-carte options), beautiful, spacious, spotless-clean room, excellent service from all staff and even a visit to a SPA on site. The hotel is fairly new; the grounds/gardens are beautiful and well cared for. It is a very nice to relax in a hammock or in a shaded cabana at any time of the day, if you don’t sleep too late they it is not hard to find an unoccupied one. No problems with beach lounges either, in a shade or sun. We were really impressed with the quality of food at the buffet – nicely presented, hot/cold as need to be. I was especially impressed with the selection of freshly squeezed juices at breakfast – the beet juice and “green juice” being our favorite, great to start your day on a healthy and tasty note. The salad bar and cold cuts/cheese section was a delight – in many resorts I often don’t trust those foods as they are easily spoiled or not washed properly, but at DREAMS they are super fresh, great variety, the salads both light and flavorful. I wish I had asked the chef for a recipe of some. And food presentation in general is really great. Room: we were very lucky to get a VIP room with partial ocean view, it was beautifully furnished, had all the necessities, far beyond the usual shampoos/soaps/bar-fridge etc. – there were various snacks, Nespresso coffee machine, fluffy bath robes, slippers, sun-lotion, bag-spray (!) etc. (there were NO bugs though!) I wish I knew it in advance as it would make me pack lighter, especially on liquids that are very restricted in your carry on. Not sure if all rooms are that well- equipped or just the VIP ones. there was free Wi-Fi in room and free internet in the VIP bar and also in Business Center (we printed our boarding passes there). Out of several a-la-carte options we tried the Japanese restaurant and the Seafood restaurant (by the beach). Both were nice. The Peruvian Ceviche and Seared Tuna (at Seafood) – delicious, they were my favorite! There is a selection of premium liquors at all bars and the variety and quality of drinks is excellent and they do NOT charge extra for premium brands, unlike in many other all-inclusives. Not my drink of choice – but I was surprised they served Grey Goose at the bar, not some cheaper brands or “house-brands” of vodka, same with gin, whiskey or rum – all premium brands. We enjoyed Don Julio reposado (in moderation :) ) – very delicate and flavorful tequila. The one that I would add is sake at the Japanese restaurant, they did not have any. The lobby bar was so cozy in the evening, with nice cool breeze, great view of gardens, spa and mangrove swamp below and SUNSETS! And live music... The hotel seems to cater for couples, families and singles equally well. There are a lot of attractions near the hotel (Croco Cun Zoo, Botanical Garden, Mesoamerican Barrier Reef very close to shore, eco tours, horse riding, several big cenotes worth a visit and much more) and various ways to reach them – you can go on an organized tour, hire a car and a guide or just rent a car, the hotel does FREE bike tours from the property twice a day, I believe. We really liked the fact that you could take long walks on the beach, either way from the hotel, no walls or fences. If you went right, in about 25-30 minutes you will get to Puerto Morelos, cozy little town with good selections of shops to buy souvenirs, crafts, sundresses, hats, jewelry etc., you can see the fishermen with their catch on the pier or visit one of many café and restaurants. There is a small city park and a pretty little church (Parroquia Catolica de San Jose) that has its own ice-cream parlor (!). I am sure there is more - but it was hot to stay too long in town in the middle of the day. On the way to Puerto Morelos by the beach, half-way, there was a pier that could probably be a good snorkeling spot (top attraction for us) – but we did not bring our masks/snorkels this time unfortunately. The taxi ride to/from Puerto Morelos is about $15-20 USD. The spa on site is really nice with a variety of water therapy options, beauty treatments, massages etc. We loved spending time in the pick heat hours in the cool indoor VIP bar. Ivan there provided exceptional service, he is very friendly, professional and the drinks he recommended and made were excellent (try Tamarind Martini and the “fizzy”one in a huge wine glass with crushed fresh berries, ask for his ‘special” :) ). At any time of the day they had a selection of little ‘neat’ snacks and deserts there that were so pretty and delicate. We both noticed that the hotel had weddings every day (sometimes few of them) and they all were very well organized, in beautiful settings, with lots of flowers, tastefully decorated and NO wedding was the SAME, all different themes and colors and settings… I would also like to mention a very welcoming and helpful Reservations Manager Ms. Griselda Melendez Juarez who helped us to book a room and waiters Jorge Laru and Rene (at the Seafood restaurant). We will be happy to come back sometime soon! And USA TRANSFERS/Entertainment Plus provided us with great service with our private transfer, meeting as, on time, as usual, at the airport and then back at the hotel. The driver, Carlos Fritz, spoke fluent English and was very polite and gave us plenty useful information on area's attraction, we asked him to be our driver again on the way back to the airport. The car was new air-conditioned van. More>

Returned from a 6 day trip from Dreams Riviera. I would recommend this resort for families; traveling with a group; children; wedding. We were part of a group wedding with 30+. The resort staff was friendly and quick to attend to your immediate needs. The resort was beautiful; hotel rooms sizes were perfect. Wifi was fast and perfect for Facebook/ Instagram users. I would stay here again in the future. The seaweed was a problem on the resort but there is a tractor type machine that is used in the mornings to clean it up. The beach is decent and the pools are nice. There is the infinity; activities; kid pools plus two jacuzzis. We mainly stayed in the infinity pool. I would rate the food 8 out of 10. The resort was a perfect size; not to small or large. I would recommend staying in a preferred club with a view of the inside property on the fourth floor. If you get stuck with a view outside of the property be sure to ask to switch. You pay for it so ask for what you want. When checking in they will ask if you would be interested in checking out/ tour other resorts (sales presentation). Be sure to skip on that. The sales presentation was about 3 hours wasted; however we got resort credit of $100 to compensate for the time. I wouldn't recommend spending the extra money for a plunge pool as other guests in the group didn't use it. Kids prefer to be with everyone else in the infinity pool and by the time you go to the room for the evening, they are exhausted. Spend the extra money and get the preferred ocean view instead. There are nice showers/ foot showers by the beach if you decide to adventure out; you can rinse off prior to returning to the room. For the excursion: We did the catamaran/ snorkeling tour. It was a great time but it was a 10 hour tour (45 min bus ride with others that got picked up from other resorts; catamaran ride; snorkel in rough waters for about 45 mins; catamaran ride to beach/buffet lunch (food was plain, beach was not that great); catamaran ride to another location for shopping and beach (beach was awesome at the 2nd stop) catamaran ride back to Cancun; van ride back to your resort.) We were exhausted when we returned to the resort; kind of wished we stayed on the resort and relaxed instead. More>

Wedding & amazing holiday with family and friends

I will start with the holiday side and if you are interested in the wedding side then I will mention the wedding at the end if you are interested. The hotel is sooo fantastic! From the minute we arrived to the time we left we were treated so well by the staff who were always happy to serve you and say good morning. The staff are always working so hard with keeping the place clean and tidy, making sure you always have a drink, food and putting all the wedding displays up and down day in and day out. A shout out to Martin who took great care of us down on the beach..such a kind person. The layout of the hotel is brilliant, there is something for everyone of all ages, the kids club is meant to be very good and the kids always looked like they were having fun. The kids pool is perfect for the little ones, the medium pool is better for adults or young children who are feeling braver in the water and the infinity pool was great for adults who appreciated a good view and a nice bar to get some decent cocktails. The restaurants I cannot fault in anyway whatsoever..amazing food and we never got bored of it, the French was outstanding, the Italian delicious, the Mexican great fun, the Asian mouthwatering and the restaurants down near the beach were very relaxed and nice with the breeze and the view of the beach. The beach is incredible and anyone who says otherwise is out of their mind, there was only a bit of seaweed at the end of everyday, nothing to cry about and we were in the ocean everyday for hours. Who can complain about beautiful white soft sand and crystal blue ocean....really? The entertainment staff are very fun and energetic but never pestering and if you wanted to join in then that was fine, there was always something going on from dance lessons, archery, cocktail making lessons, volleyball...etc. The rooms are brilliant, the layout is the best I have ever seen, we were on the 5th floor in a room just slightly up from a standard and it was great, the bed is in the middle of the room, you have his and hers sinks behind the bed with a big bath and two separate rooms for your shower and toilet...YES there are glass doors...but most of it is misted glass...it is still pretty private and REALLY not something to complain about..if you are not that comfortable with someone then you should not be sharing a room..I found there was plenty of storage space and the lighting was great. The WIFI is brilliant and had no problems Overall the hotel was fantastic, we were part of a group of 40 from the UK and New Zealand and everyone loved the hotel and all the staff. We feel we were taken care of very well and a lot of us would return again. Thank you Dreams for the holiday of a lifetime. Wedding Both my partner and I were very worried about our wedding as its very difficult to pick a venue you have never seen before and wont see till 4 days before your wedding, putting your trust in a lady you have never met and only seeing photos of everything you can pick for your wedding day, but we should not have worried. Natalia our wedding planner was fantastic, she was on the ball with our email communications, coming back to us very quickly with clear answers to our questions, when we arrived at the hotel she put us completely at ease. Our wedding day was a complete dream, perfect, wonderful, amazing and it was all down to the amazing staff with the setup, presentation, running around making sure everything was perfect. You do not feel like ANOTHER wedding...you feel like your wedding is the wedding of the year! We got married at the Gazebo and everyone around the pool was very nice and quiet for us during our ceremony and gave us a cheer at the end :-) Our cocktail hour was great fun for our guests while we went off and had our personal photos done. The reception was stunning and was more than we could of imagined. The food was spectacular and all our guests enjoyed it. To finish off the night we danced till 11:00am. All our guests enjoyed the day very much and felt it was very personal and set-up very well. If you are considering getting married here I would highly recommend it. Thank you Natalia and thank you Dreams for making me the happiest lady on her wedding day More>
