Tip Hungry and Attitude
NICOLE E.
Oct 18 2017
For being an all inclusive resort, the staff was very very tip hungry to the point of straight out asking for tips. We believe we should tip for good service but the staff expected it at every turn. The hotel also made it extremely difficult for us to get $1 bills for our 20's. Much of the staff also had an attitude when serving us. We were put off by these attitudes and will choose someplace else next time even though the resort was beautiful.

Breathless Punta Cana was just that!

We were upgraded form the Dreams resort to the Breathless resort. What a great experience. The rooms were very nice, swimming pool right outside your back door and maid service three times a day. The E-team had top quality entertainment and they really made you feel special. This is a adults only resort and the atmosphere was just that. They had something for you to do or keeping you entertained every minute of the day and night. Music and dancing went on until 3:00 AM. Everybody that worked at the resort was amazing and courteous. I want to give a big shout out to two great guys on the E-team, Yendel and Redbull. I would definitely recommend this resort to adults looking to let loose and go out and have a good time. My wife and I are both 60 years old and we are telling everyone about it and we definitely plan on going back next year!!!

Front Desk

The front desk was very helpful but gave horrible time estimates. When we checked in the said come back at 3 to get our room, our room wasn't ready to 3:30. we wanted a King size bed, and received two doubles. They told us to check out the next day and we could get a new room. The next day we checked out at noon and were told to come back at 3 to check into our room. When we came back a 3 our room was not ready and were told to come back in five minutes and were told that every 15min for a hour and a half till our room was read. I wish they would have just told us that our room wouldn't have been read till 4:30 so we couldve enjoyed more time on the beach.

Moved to Dreams La Romana due to Hurricane Marie
HARRY S.
Oct 01 2017
I want to give Dreams an Excellent on taking care of its customers. They moved us to La Romana on Wed morning for our safety for the remaining 4 days/4 nights of our stay. We didn't care for La Romana, we had been there before, don't like the rooms or the outdoor buffet, food is not as good as Punta Cana and the staff is not as friendly. We lost out on the room as we pay for a Deluxe Swim out Room and only had 2 days to enjoy it before being moved to a room that had a musty smell and no walkout to lounge chairs, pool, etc. Once the sun was shining and we could go to the pool, had to be there at 8:00 a.m. to get a chair with an umbrella, don't have to do that at Punta Cana, which is why we pay extra for swim out.

The biggest Con about the hotel
NEAL L.
Sep 28 2017
Dreams Punta Cana was pretty nice. Their pool was their best feature. They do need a lot of updating…things are old and broken down. We almost regretted our choice the 1st day there… we went to the buffet and it was swarmed with rude people and then at the pool those same rude people overtook the whole place. It was explained to us that on Fridays a busload of Dominican people come to the resort for their “vacation” until Sunday. They are supposedly the “richer” of the Dominican people. Because of this I would not go back to this resort. The people were rude, they overtook the pool, chairs, buffet, etc…. And they received service 1st because they spoke the language. They would cut in line and just do whatever they wanted like they owned the place. The workers kept telling us “don’t worry, they will be gone on Sunday”…My only question is – If they know it bothers the guests why do they keep doing it? Everyone we talked to was complaining about it. Their kids were all over the pool bar and grabbing drinks off the counter and no one was doing anything about it. And then on Sunday it became a completely different resort. Had it not been for Maria we would have been perfectly happy there after that.

First off the booking went fine but i was clearly lied to in regards to what kind of room i was to have as initially we were told we had a ocean view room which the resort dosnt have than upon arrival in the dominican we had no transfer and had to wait for over an hour for apple to work it out than when we arrived at the hotel we couldnt go to our room till they pitched us for a timeshare on a vacation we had paid for and just to reference instead of going on and on the rest of my issues pools closed at 6 we had cockroaches in our room the maid was on our room phone when we arrived and she told us to hold on than the first restaurant we eat at the cook used his bare hands after he had wiped his hands to grab our meat and cook it than pushed his fingers into to see if it cooked watered down drinks poor food and bad customer service from not only the staff and managers but from apple vacations as well

Fro those about to travel to Dreams Resort and Spa PC rest assured that the resort is in great shape. We are here until the 30th of May so If I can answer any questions for you I will try. From our previous 2 trips here during the last 12 years we have always found this resort to be amazing. and it still is! Immaculately presented in all ways we can honestly say you will not be disappointed. Please be [patient if you need an reply as the laptop will only go on evry other day. Weather is fantastic 30+ deg with occasional cloud and light shower on the coast. PC airport can be exhausting so be patient! Happy travels. John and Yiasmin.

My partner and I went for a getaway from the everyday hassle of work. The resort is very nice, Many people on the staff is very nice...some not so nice! Edward who works every where was the best... He will go above and beyond to make sure your visit is great... I want to say her name is Keisha who works at Oceana is great as well... (Her husband name is Charles...) Oceana has the best food throughout the resort. I'm not a meat eater. This resort really need to improve on the seafood options and the late night menu... The food wasn't the best throughout the resort... However, once the rooms are updated and improve on the food options and taste this will be a great resort that I would add to my yearly travel agenda.

It's a good resort that could be a GREAT resort

We stayed at Dreams Punta Cana from October 7th-14th, to attend a family wedding -- our group was about 50 people in total. Saturday the 7th was the property's grand reopening since closing down for Hurricane Maria, and some work was still being done to repair the roof on the main building and the one that houses the Bordeaux, Oceana, and Seaside Grill restaurants. Everything else appeared to be in good shape, and workers were busy touching up paint and washing glass doors. Check-in was slow (but, hey, we were a big group) and it was only 2PM, so our room wasn't ready. It *was* ready at 3:00, as promised, and our luggage was there when we walked in. So, the good stuff: the property is beautiful. It's not overwhelming huge, and there is undeveloped land on either side, so it feels peaceful. Loads of mature palm trees, beautiful gardens. The lazy river style pool that runs through the middle is fantastic. Lots of twists, turns, and coves. And lots of lounge chairs. It never felt crowded. The pool is 3 feet deep from beginning to end -- great for chilling out with a drink or floating along on one of the many air mattresses provided. The beach isn't huge, but it also has a palm grove and many loungers. You can find places to catch some shade, and the ocean breeze is super refreshing. This is the Atlantic side of the island, so the surf is moderate, with some undertow. The water was clear of seaweed during our whole stay. The vast majority of the staff is friendly and polite. Yes, folks have varying degrees of proficiency in English, but we got by. As in many places, people appreciate it if you are polite and respectful and try to use some basic phrases in their native language -- and apologize with a smile for not knowing more. Hey, you're a guest in a Spanish-speaking country. The world doesn't revolve around English-speaking Americans. We enjoyed the restaurants and food. It's not foodie-gourmet dining, but the dishes are generally well-prepared. The entree portions do run a bit small at the table-service restaurants; order an appetizer and have dessert, though, and you've got a filling meal. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seated. The World Cafe buffet never had a wait and offered lots of choices. We opted to do late breakfasts every day, and the made-to-order items (crepes, omelettes, etc.) were quite good. *All* of the baked goods and desserts were delicious. The poolside and beachside tiki shacks that offered burgers, hot dogs, and pizza in the afternoons made a great, quick barefoot stop for a bite of lunch. Our room was in Building 2, so there was a bit of a walk to the facilities located in "Santo Domingo Plaza", but I didn't mind getting stretching my legs for that. It was a beautiful stroll. So, what keeps this resort being great? First and foremost, the rooms. The exteriors of the buildings are fine, but the guest rooms need serious updating. Fixtures are worn out -- lampshades don't fit over the new fluorescent light bulbs. The auxilliary outlet on our desk lamp didn't work. The throw pillows on our bed were stained. The TV remote didn't work (and the replacement we got died, too), and there's no listing for the stations available (the room card was out of date). I know you don't vacation to sit in the room and watch TV, but you probably do want to check out the news or weather. The guest services binder was falling apart and clearly missing pages and/or sections -- and a lot of the info was outdated. The A/C system was only so-so. The bathroom only had two lights, both over the sink. The tub/shower was unlit, and it was a European-type setup: VERY high step-up into the tub, narrow glass partition at the faucet end with the rest open. The tub was chipped. There were only two outlets (with one plug each) in the room (and one of those has a lamp plugged into it) and one in the bathroom. If you're traveling with your laptop and phone, and so is your spouse, it's tricky to time out recharging your electronics. So, we had a room with a lovely view over the pool and towards the ocean, but I wished we'd stayed in it 20 years ago. That being said, the housekeeping staff keeps everything as clean as possible. It's just that what they're working with is getting very worn out and they can't make it look new. Our maid very graciously placed flowers around the room every day and really tried to make it as pretty as possible. They responded quickly when we asked for things like more hangers, another TV remote, etc. Be aware: The hallways have tile floors and stucco walls, so sound bounces around and travels -- a lot. You WILL hear it in your room. Depending on who else is staying in your building, that could be a BIG issue. One other "c'mon, really???" was the approach and "invitation" to take a few minutes and visit the Zoetry resort, "just a couple minutes up the road", to see it and "take a few pictures." And "we're having a contest... you can win a free vacation!!! It's NOT a timeshare." Translation: We want to sell you a membership in our Vacation Club. So, yeah, technically not a timeshare. The visit and sales pitch will take a good 2 hours out of your vacation day. No thanks. I wish I could *love* this resort and rate it more highly. They did a great job with the wedding and reception. It's just not everything it COULD be -- and probably USED to be.

Underwhelming
Charlotte J,

Overall we had an okay trip (probably not good enough to feel it was worth the cost). We went for a 5 day stay for our honeymoon. The outside spaces of the resort are absolutely beautiful, we had a good experience at the spa, and their gym has decent equipment. Most of the staff was very friendly and the food was decent (deserts were probably not great, but meals were pretty good). Ok, now the things we wish were different: the rooms are old and tired. We upgraded for our honeymoon and preferred club access but were disappointed that we'd spent extra money for a rusty hot tub on our balcony and a room with old finishes. Our view was of the building next door, so an upgrade doesn't guarantee ocean/beach views, or even a "tropical" view. The bathroom smelled musty and we were greeted by such a strong odor of bleach on the first day that I ended up with a headache that wouldn't go away. I appreciate that they clean, but it was a bit strong. We were also greeted by a "promotion" that required us to endure a tour of the brand's neighboring resorts. We were told that it wouldn't take more than 20 minutes after we told the representative that we didn't want to spend 90 minutes on it, and it actually took almost 3 hours. We lost our entire morning and didn't step foot on the beach until later that day, which was unfortunate because it ended up raining when returned, so we really didn't get to see the beach and spend time on it until our third day there. We were further unhappy with their "promotion" experience because when we specifically asked if we could skip the 90 minute "presentation" or "tour" we were told that yes, we could skip it to receive a gift or something at the end. Lo and behold, we were taken off resort, transportation was extremely delayed between stops, and when we asked the "guide" if we could just talk numbers to get it over with he kept saying that "we'll get to that later". Overall, it was an unfortunate morning and we didn't appreciate the extreme sales pitch at the end. We just wanted to come back to the resort and get on the beach but we felt like we were being held hostage. Additionally, we had the preferred club upgrade. The people behind the desk at the club weren't as helpful as we'd hoped. When we asked about activities and schedules, they kind of just shrugged and said they didn't know anything about them. Consequently, I missed a couple things I wanted to do. Not entirely their fault as I could have asked someone else, but still unfortunate. There also seemed to be a lack of communication for certain things. Overall, it seems like a great family resort because they have kids activities (from what I can tell) and a kids play area. Next time I won't spend the money on a room upgrade (if there is a next time) and I won't expect 5 star accommodations. I wish I'd had lower expectations or booked elsewhere for a honeymoon experience. Of all the all-inclusive resorts I've been to (this is the 5th), this is probably the least enjoyable one so far. If the "tour" hadn't happened, we probably wouldn't be as salty about it. Granted, we did get a $100 gift certificate to the spa for enduring whatever the heck that was, we don't feel it was worth our valuable time.
