My wife and I just spent 5 days at the Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana. This is the best vacation we've ever had. The place is just magnificent. Beautiful views, clean, plenty of pools, great beach and delicious food. And as if all that wasn't enough, the service was even better. It all started with our concierge Jose who greeted us and made us feel comfortable right away. We were fortunate to be upgraded to the Royal Service and our butler Alberto turned a great place into a stupendous vacation. Alberto spoiled us by making all our dinner reservations and all other arrangements. Allowing us just to relax and enjoy. He checked on us everyday and made sure we were happy. He was very thoughtful and sincere. Alberto introduced us to Francisco on the beach who pampered us the entire stay. He had our place on the beach ready for us every morning. Every time we turned around Francisco was there with drinks and a smile. No is not a word that exists in his vocabulary no matter what the request was. We've been to other resorts where we've been very happy, but this experience far exceeds all others. Whenever we go back to Punta Cana , there's no question where we'll stay and the staff we will request.

We arrived March 10th with a reservation of a junior suite, the gentlemen at the front (at first tried to sell us an upgraded room) for quite a bit of money. We had declined but he upgraded us anyway to a one bedroom suite anyway which was very nice. It was wonderful! Very spacious for my mom, my sister and I. The hotel was kept extremely clean. There were always workers around making sure the grounds were kept clean. Smelled good as you walked around. The restaurants were definitely hard to get into. We attempted to make reservations as soon as we arrived but could only reserve one night then we had to come back the next morning to do a couple more nights for some reason...and then had to come back again so that was a little frustrating. The buffet was open all the time though, you were able to just walk in and eat. It was absolutely the most beautiful buffet I've ever seen!!!! Food was spectacular...very fresh. If I had to eat at the buffet the whole time, I could have easily done that and I am not a huge fan of buffets. The drinks at the pool bar were awesome...very yummy. Also the entertainment at night was good. There was something new every night. The workers on the resort definitely made sure you had a good time. Dancing with everyone at the Gabi bar. Shaky Shaky was the best!!! He made sure we had a great time!! He did the water spin class with us, stretching on the beach and made sure we knew where the entertainment was every night. Thanks Shaky Shaky!!! The one thing that was irritating was all the vendors that they had at the hotel (two times within our visit) that would constantly try to sell you stuff as you walked by. You literally had to ignore them, but once you mastered that you were all good. There is quite a bit of that at the beach as well. We did end up parasailing with a local (not with the resort) that was advertising on the beach and he was very nice. We had no problems, it was fine. My sister and I did the Ocean Spa excursion and loved it, I highly recommend. If your looking for an hour, relaxing type of massage this wouldn't be it. It was more like 10 min swedish massage, 10 min massage on roller table, exfoliation, a detox foot bath, and floating on the Caribbean sea. You also had the "doctor fish" that eat the dry skin off your feet. It was really cool!! Some people couldn't even keep their feet in it, but once I got used to it, I loved it. The excursion was cool because it was a little of everything. Our weather was perfect, mid 80's I would say. If I was to return to Punta Cana I would definitely head to this resort again.

Paradisus palma real - royal service

I stayed at this hotel with my husband for 1 week. We used the royal service option. It was our first vacation without our children. Our room was very close to the beach so we did not have to walk far. It was our first time having Butler service and we did not really know what to ask for. However, our butler Alberto Vargas was very accommodating. He was warm and welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. He sensed that we were not really sure what to ask for, so he made some suggestions of what he could do for us. He also prepared a beautiful jacuzzi for us twice with strawberry covered chocolates and candles. He was always available and would check up on us regularly to see if we needed anything but he was not overbearing. The beach was nice. Mainly clear water but quite a bit of seaweed accumulated throughout the day but it didn't stop us from enjoying it. There were mild waves and the temperature was perfect. I would rate the food 7/10. 1 definite plus about the royal service was having access to the good alcohol like grey goose vodka and Hendricks gin with no additional charge. The beds were also surprisingly comfortable. It was also nice not having to run to the beach early in the morning to reserve a chair. We always had the same chairs available thanks to Francisco. The pool area was nice but we are beach people so we stayed there most of the time. There was not much night life going on except that we noticed that there were many families with their teenage kids who were dancing a lot at the Gabi beach. It would go on to about 12:30 am then it quieted down. My husband and I were thinking about going to coco bongo but it would cost 75$ u.s. per person and we weren't sure if we'd be able to stay out so late (catching up on sleep time since we left our kids at home). All together, I would definitely return.

Destination Wedding of our dreams!

I had my wedding at the Paradisus Palma Real on November 13, 2016. We had 101 guests including ourselves, ranging in age from 3 to 80. Everyone had a great time and raved about the resort. Resort: Full disclosure, my husband and I stayed at the Reserve, so I won't comment on rooms. All but 4 of our guests stayed at the main resort. We had stayed at the main resort as well when we did our site visit. The resort is beautiful and the lobby is breathtaking. The beach and pool are huge and there were always chairs. It was kind of annoying how far you sometimes had to walk to get a towel. The drinks were good, we gave our guests large tumblers to put their drinks in so they didn't have to use the paper cups (highly suggest). We enjoyed all the restaurants, especially the hibachi at the Reserve. We heard no complaints about food. The only con is making dinner reservations - the romance team made this easy on us by reserving large blocks at a bunch of restaurants every night, but it was difficult to coordinate 100 people. The reserve is sooo beautiful and we were upgraded to a HUGE 1 bedroom with a spa tub on the BALCONY. I have no regrets about staying at the reserve - we wanted privacy. My husband was annoyed that we had to take golf carts to the main resort lobby and beach, but it didn't bother me. Wedding: We had our ceremony on the beach and our reception at the Fuego restaurant. Fuego was an extra charge around ~$5000 but it was 1000% worth it. It was completely private and had the indoor/outdoor feel we were looking for. The other area's offered for weddings (beach, by the pool) were a little too out in the public for us. We did the tailor made package which was perfect because it included a beach BBQ the night before the wedding which was so much fun. The food was great and included lobster and steak and open bar. The package suggests a "white party" and our guests loved it. Romance Team: first off, Maria Quevedo is an angel/superhero on earth. She was on top of every SINGLE detail. She made every request happen for us and made our wedding perfect. Even our make-up artists, who we brought in from outside the resort, commented on how amazing she was because it is usually a hassle for them to get in to the resort. Any issue that came up Maria was able to solve. She was so calm the whole weekend and always checking up on us. Our parents loved her as well and my dad is a bit hard to please! We also worked with Noelia, who was just as good as Maria! Noelia coordinated and attended our Beach BBQ. She was very sweet and on top of everything. Ceremony: our ceremony was beautiful despite a little rain. It was officiated by Pastor Markos Lyons who we coordinated outside the resort. no complaints. We had a contemporary ceremony and read our own vows. Immediately after, everyone toasted with a glass of champagne. Cocktail Hour & Reception - we had 5 passed hors devours and a buffet dinner. Food was great, no complaints. Cake was also delicious. The DJ played all the songs requested and did not play any of the songs we banned (specifically, coordinated dance songs like the electric slide). The drinks were great and the waiters and staff were even better. they made sure i always had a drink and by the end were giving our guests bottles of champagne. They are definitely always working for tips and top level service and it shows - everyone is so nice and accommodating. so make sure to tip them!! My one regret is not extending the reception by one hour from 3 to 4 hours. It would have been an extra $15 per person + extra for the DJ. We were planning to move over to Gabi Beach bar, but it was POURING by the end of our reception so we sort of just sat in fuego til the rain stopped/we were ready to sprint. We moved to the lobby bar but it was much more subdued. I was not ready to end the party at 10 PM! Con: I have one complaint and it is a big one. It has nothing to do with the resort itself or with the romance department, but rather with Paradisus wedding packages. We had 100 guests so about 50 rooms. that is a LOT of business to bring to a resort. Our wedding was not cheap by any means. We paid as much per person as we would have paid for a NYC wedding. When we first booked the wedding, the deal was one free room (2 people, 3 nights, basic room) for every 10 rooms booked. We went ahead and reserved 50 rooms, putting down a large deposit. We did this in June 2015. In order to get the free rooms, our guests had to book through our travel agent/the wedding team and pay the group rate. The group rate is SUPPOSED to be a discount. I think it was like $214 per person per night. We booked our wedding 17 months in advance. At NO time over those 17 months, was the group rate cheaper than the rate on the website!!! Our guests thought we were CRAZY to ask them to pay hundreds of dollars more just to book through our wedding group! We ended up releasing the entire block, having everyone book on their own or through the melia website. We didn't mind paying for our own room, but it would have been nice to have the rooms to gift to our parents, siblings, family member etc after bringing in 100 guests and paying for a very expensive wedding. If you are going to offer these concessions, make the rates cheaper than what people can find online!

Impressive Property

My friend and I booked this resort on a last minute cheapcaribbean.com. The booking was fairly easy/simple online, included airfare, etc. We got the to and from the airport to resort and back via Amstar service, which was super easy and convenient, and reasonably priced. It was ~ 25 minutes from the airport to the resort, so you get to see some of the countryside. When we first got to the resort we were very visually impressed. The property really is gorgeous. It's like Europe meets Vegas. The room was also beautiful and very comfortable. They overbooked their double bed rooms so upgraded us to a King with a cot. It wasn't ideal, but we made it work. The bed was very very comfortable, the room was clean, organized, quiet, fancy but comfortable. They have satellite TV available - the signal was out half the time - but honestly who goes here to watch tv right? One complaint was the shower - they have these showers that are incredibly complicated to figure out how to use, and then half the time were were there there was no hot water (we tried to shower at different times in the day, same problem). The pool areas are very nice, and you can walk the property and check out the Reserve portion of Melia properties while you are there. It's a much quieter area vs. Paradisus palma real. The beaches are pristine - it's clear they've put effort into creating a luxurious beach area. It was easy for us to get towels, and chairs for the most part, as long as you don't mind being in the sun all day - most of the shades chairs are taken early and kept throughout the day. The closed cabana bed areas are pretty much taken the whole day, so if you want one of those get out like before 8 am, maybe even earlier. They have restaurants on the property, most of which are included with the all inclusive, but you have to make a reservation early. This was one of the not perfect aspects of the resort - they only take reservations same day, and starting @ 9 am. But by 9 am basically all restaurants are full and you're put on a waiting list. The upside is most places, if you're wiling to wait, can seat you regardless ~ 815. Also, they have restaurants in which reservations are not required, so you can still eat any time. The BlueAgave was ok - very good chips and salsa, otherwise food was ok. Bana - their hibachi grill - food wise was not super impressive, but still a fun experience. Rare, their steakhouse, was phenomenal. The shrimp cocktail, tomato bisque, ribs were delicious. The interior and ambiance of Rare was very nice as well. Highly recommend you eat here at least one night out of your trip. Their buffet, Nano I believe it was called, was also very impressive. Very clean and organized, with a nice selection and variety of different foods. The food quality here was great as well. The service was hit or miss. I don't want to knock the whole resort just because of one or two people. For the most part everyone was very nice and helpful. I believe more oversight by management particularly in the reservation check-in and guest services would benefit to make their quality of customer service more consistent. Overall a very nice resort and we had a great time. Probably best for couples or families vs. singles looking to meet people. One last thing - they have a drink called the Caparissima - it's a MUST drink, and quickly became one of my all time favorites. My recommendation is to get it from Luis Diaz, one of the bar tenders at the tiki pool bar - he's awesome, super friendly and helpful, and really added some flavor to our trip. He was one of our favorite parts of our trip and we made sure we ordered from him every day. El es lo mejor!!
