The hotel rooms smelled of mold. hotel rooms smelled of mold. was moved 3 times before the room was acceptable. 6/8 people in our group returned with travelers diarrhea. we did not really have any entertainment. the hotel was boring we entertain ourselves. I called my travel agent and she said just complain with no follow up to see if we were ok. highly disappointed in her response.

No frills resort

Small resort with nice layout geared for families. Although I don't think they should have chugging contests at the main pool with young kids watching. Food was not great. Saw 3 dead roaches in our hallway and they laid there for two days until my husband brought them to the attention of an employee. Our room had an adjoining door to the adjacent room and there was absolutely no privacy. Could hear their whole conversation and could see the lights from their room under the door. Totally unacceptable! We were delayed one day because of a missed flight connection because of mechanical issues and Apple representative not helpful or interested at all, just asked if we were staying an extra day which we could not. We need to be compensated for missed day but I doubt we will.

I did'nt go on vacation to be up sold

Let me start by saying that the staff was the best very attentive to every need. The resort itself is very nice, extremely clean it's age shows a little here and there but over all nice. A great place for families with small to teenage children. My problem was if you wanted to eat at one of the only 2 specialty restaurants you were served the same quality of food as the buffet unless you payed for the gourmet plates at 25 to 35 dollars a head. I was then invited to a breakfast by one of the staff and I soon realized it was an invitation to be pitched on buying a timeshare there, I did not partake in the breakfast invite but i talked to others that did and heard that once they said no thanks they were treated rude. Well thanks but no thanks on a return visit it's just not for me

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food was not the best, but good enough. There was a lot of options which helped in finding something to eat. There were times that the main areas of the hotel were not as clean as they could have been. Small details like the floor under the tables chairs in the banquet area were not swept by the next morning. The front lobby sitting areas had sand on the tables, etc...Nothing horrible, just not a polished look. The bedrooms and pool area were really well maintained and the staff was constantly coming around to clear cups and dishes. No problem getting chairs by the pool when we wanted and it looked like there were always a few chairs available on the beach area. It was a great experience for our first time doing "foreign" travel.

Bad experience

We see this hotel - Royal Solaris- as a bad luck find. The room we were assigned was not what the description was when we made the reservation. Out of our party of 5, three got sick from the food/water. Management did not care when we mentioned it, instead they suggested a squirt with lemon. Swimming pools are not cleaned on a daily basis. Wifi for "Apple Vacations reservations is extra." We visit Mexico every year and this was the worst experience we have had. Location is good. Don't spend your money on the Royal Solaris all-inclusive package.

I do not recommend this hotel. At check -in they will tell you the keycard machine does not work only to hand to off to the time share folk(who are friendly). Had to upgrade to a partial ocean view room as Room 111 had a view of a wall and sewer caps. Front desk management does not seem like he wants to be bothered - poor customer service. The woman at guest relations is very kind and helpful. Drinks are made with low grade alcohol. Two bartenders at the beach area bar and servive is slow due to number of people waiting for drinks. Lobby bar would only serve us shots and be when ordered at 12:20am (closes at 1:00am) Food(buffet) is low grade as well except for Fiesta night. Go eat in the downtown San Jose area. The Italian restaurant is so not Italian. The pizza restaurant - not very good. Went through 17 different people to get bags to play bags and 5 of 8 were useable - one was a sock. No one from activities came around until day 6 to invite us to play. They may have music poolside for an hour if you listen carefully - very low energy. Room size and cleanliness is good. Matresses are hard. Thankfully the weather was perfect!

This hotel is way over rated by Apple Vacation should be a 2 apple. It is not a true all inclusive property, it is half time share which Apple customers are excluded form. You should declare this this on your disclosures. I wound not have gone to this property if I had known. I have used Apple Vacations many times this is way below what I paid for. Please call me we need to talk about this. If I don't hear from you we are finished doing business. John

Miss leading All Inclusive

We always give extra bonus tips so it wasn't a problem for us. However if it was someone's first all inclusive trip I won't recommend this resort. They would be confused with all the tip cups sitting out... I prefer to feel like I have a choice on a bonus tip and here it was expected! We would go back to this resort for the price and recommend to friends who are like us who are prepared to give extra tips. If this was my first all inclusive and I was told my tips are included in price of my trip I'd feel cheated. We stayed at Riu in Costa Rica and they'd take an bonus tip but did not put cups out everyplace for extra tips... The only all inclusive I stayed at that didn't allow extra tipping of any kind. Staff would lose their jobs if they took extra tips and they even had pins on that said please do not tip us... Over all price of this trip was worth the money and we would do it again.

Hotel was very nice and I liked the look of the Mexican decor. They could use a bigger and all new erquipment in their work out room. It was very old. Also tennis cour was bad similated grass with sand all over it. Balls did not bounce right. Shows were very good and loved the churros at brealkfast. Buffet could be better. Hambrgers were not to good. Frontier is a terrbile airline real little trays that come down off the seats. The airplane was almost empty on my return but they gave me the last seats and said I would have to $50.00 to change them. Maybe Apple should start using Southwest, luggage is free then.

1 Week Stay at royal Solaris
HedgieWinston, Calgary, Canada

Had a great time in our week stay. The resort is clean, food was hot and there was lots available. Always able to get a chair by the pool, though lunch times were very busy. Check in was a mess - long lines and lots of confusion, especially at 3pm when everyone who had arrived earlier came back for room keys. Numerous lines and not enough staff made for some angry people and staff didn't know how to handle it. Some people were told to form new lines, others told to stay and then move to the new line well after many others had lined up. There was a lot of staff confusion as to what to do with everyone. We were given a ton of coupons, but not sure how they worked, where to redeem them. We were not told about reservations for the speciality restaurants, so didn't figure it out until that evening (and we looked for info too). Some days, the room was not made up until very late - 4/5pm. Not a major issue overall though, for us. Food was a little repetitive, but that's to be expected with buffets. Speciality restaurants were delicious. Drinks readily available and lots of crushed ice. Gym was not bad, though some of the treadmills are starting to get a little old. Still, they worked for us. Wait staff in the restaurants were fantastic and very attentive. I have nothing but praise for them. Aside from the check in issues, we had a great time and would be happy to go back

There is no wow factor whatsoever when you arrive at this resort. It is dated, closed in, and the lobby lacks any character, or indeed anything beautiful. Check-in was efficient and helpful, but almost all the rooms are the same, having tiny balconies that are almost unusable, for when you sit down, and there is just room to do that, you see nothing. An oceanfront room offered for a $90 per day extra fee had the same tiny useless balcony. The food in the buffet was better than many resorts, but the one and only one a la Carte restaurant was unimpressive. You can generally get a palapa on the beach or a place by the pool. I did appreciate that some upright chairs were available. I think the price results in the resort having an extraordinary amount of babies, young children, and teens, and they use all the pool areas except the tiny adults only pool that was always filled with twenty adults, standing, smoking, and drinking. The kids pool is basically unused. The entertainment at night is sad, very sad. The sound system is poor and I would guess blown. One show, called "Freak Show" tastelessly featured dancers in straight jackets, exhibiting various forms of mental illness. Really? In 2018? Bathrooms are clean, but often plugged. The staff who played games and volleyball, etc., were extremely patient and welcoming with everyone of all ages and abilities. That was excellent to see. I would not recommend this resort unless you have lots of children and need a cheap option. It was our mistake.

I read review after review about this place. Good and bad so I went with an open mind. Very friendly staff. They got us drinks while in line to check in. Our room was great! Comfy bed! Walls were very thin. Food mostly sucked but it’s all you can eat so I didn’t starve. Marco Polo restaurant was the best. Room service breakfast was bomb! So good! Pools were nice. Beach was beautiful. Drinks were great! Was there for 5 days and it was wonderful. I would go back and I want to bring my 11 year old daughter next time. Very family friendly resort. Loved it. Buffet did suck. The shows were cheesy but funny.

Will not return to this property! Spring Break 2017

This was our third time to Cabo. First time in San Jose del Cabo with my cousin's family with 4 other kids 11 and under. and first time bringing the kids 15 & 12 to Cabo. Both other times we stayed at the Riu Sante Fe and regret not staying there again. First off once we located our guide for our transfer to the hotel we were told we are waiting for a few more passengers going to the same hotel This was false as we passed the Royal Solaris to drop these people off first. Check in: Absolutely terrible - nearly 2 hours as the clerk said the key card machine was broken and conveniently passed us to the time share or "club" salesperson(nice guy). Once he was done with us the key card machine was operable. Imagine that. We then arrived at our main level room and NO Way as the patio faced a wall and large white pipes - went back to the counter and upgraded to an ocean view which was nice. Mattresses were super firm and uncomfortable - that got changed out eventually. The food (buffet) was average at best. Food variety was limited. Went to the Italian restaurant (not my choice - I know my Italian food) and had the Tuna - dry and so not Italian. Mexican night was pretty good - they had a nice spread downstairs near the entertainment area by the lobby. The pools were nice and the resort seemed pretty clean. Drinks seemed to be watered down a bit. The bar in the lobby stopped making mixed drinks at 1:40am as it closes at 2:00am - absurd. I would not stay at this resort or in San Jose del Cabo again as I prefer a resort with more energy.

I read all of the reviews, good and bad and decided to give it a try since we did last minute booking. The Good: the pool area is nice, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. We did get the hard sell at check in to attend the timeshare presentation but were able to wiggle out since we only stayed for 2 days. The Bad: the food! The breakfast buffet has healthy options, we didn't eat in any of the restaurants in the evenings because you have to make your reservations first thing in the morning or you're screwed. I don't want to think about dinner at 8am. That leaves you with the lunch buffet, which has some ok options and the snack bar. If you consider food to be hot dogs, chips with liquid cheese goo, and french fries, then dig in! I don't eat crap so there were no healthy options outside of a sit down meal. Time it right and you can get 2 decent meals in a day at the buffets. The first day we arrived too late for lunch so we had to go out and buy food outside the resort. We also chose to eat out the second night at the the sushi bar across the street (very good sushi, large portions) because I failed to get up early enough to make a reservation (part of vacation is sleeping in, right?). We stuck to beer and wine (skip the wine, they carry one brand and its bad) so I can't comment on the mixed drinks, but everyone else seemed to be enjoying them. My husband and I were traveling with our teens and requested adjoining rooms ahead of time, but what we got were 2 rooms near each other. It was fine since they are teenagers but if they were younger it would have been a problem. Our rooms were dirty and dated, the backs of the doors and dressers were smeared with greasy handprints, and when the sun shone into the room you could really see how grimy it was. Did we get the most out of the all-inclusive experience? No. Would I stay there again or recommend it? No, but it seemed like a great option for young families or those who aren't foodies.
