Wonderful Place

We loved our vacation. It was gorgeous and the people went above and beyond in service. The food was fabulous. Restaurants were unique and the food top quality. Two negatives to be aware of: 1. Rooms not soundproof. Could hear neighbors. And one night there was a band at the pool playing loud until 11:00pm. (We had to get up early the next morning.) 2. You cannot swim on the beach. The pool made up for it though. One thing: Do NOT do the time share presentation. It is not worth the free things they offer you.

Hotel was beautiful, kept clean. Staff very friendly, bilingual. During off season, they rotate what restaurant are open. Unfortunately, buffet was only open 1 of 6 days, being vegan, I had planned on eating from the salad bar. This limited my choices greatly. Minibar not restocked daily, and they removed curtains before our last day which was strange.

We stayed at Dreams Los Cabo's for our honeymoon. We arrived a day or two after one of the worst tropical storms they have seen in over 10 years, so our first impression was not that great. The resort was working at "60%" according to the staff at check in. We are very laid back people and understood the circumstances. Upon check in, we were told they needed to put a $100 hold on a credit card for incidentals, which we were fine with. Until I got an alert on my phone saying that they placed a $450 hold, not $100! They also barrade you with their "Vacation Club" as you check-in and try to get you to buy into it immediately. Initially the water in the shower was brown then cleared within seconds. And then each had seen better days as well. There were trees and debris everywhere. I'm assuming both were from the storm. That being said, the staff and entertainment were excellent! They worked so hard to get the resort back to 100% operational. The food was decent, but they tried to sell you bottles of expensive wines that were not included. We had a great time but just had to stay on our toes more than we had hoped.

We took a short getaway anticipating a 5 star experience. To our disappointment, it was only a fair stay. The food and service was not the quality I had experienced through my apple vac stay in Akumal Bay MX stay in July. Will return to Cabo but will definitely stay somewhere else. The property is pretty, nice views. Too bad food and restaurant service was poor. The highlights were our waiter at Oceana named Bruno and our barista at the outdoor cafe.

We booked this trip as a "last minute getaway" just three weeks prior to leaving. For the money is was a pretty good deal. The beach is beautiful but you can not swim or even wade into the water. The hotel staff said if you get in the water there you will get out in Cancun! There are large breaking waves and a strong rip tide. It is beautiful to look at and listen to the waves but if you are set on swimming in the ocean you will be disappointed. Overall it is your standard all-inclusive. The food could be improved but you won't starve. The staff are all wonderful. One thing we didn't expect was to be ushered aside right after check in for what they call a "overview of the property". It ends with you giving them $20 and committing to show up the next morning for breakfast and a commitment to "listen to a presentation" about their rewards club, which they assure you is NOT a timeshare presentation. Oh, and you have to bring an I.D. And a credit card. We were so hot and tired when we arrived we just went along with it. The next morning they call to remind you to bring the credit card and I.D. My husband asked why they needed the I.D since the hotel had all our information and said we would not be bringing a credit card or paying them any money. We were out $20 but it was worth it. I don't know if they are part of the hotel staff or not but it was a very sour start to our vacation. They did leave us alone after that. We were just not prepared for that assault upon arrival and thought we did great avoiding that whole seen at the airport only to get hit again. We have stayed at other all inclusive which I would rate higher just due to better food and more upgrades. On the positive side it is a fairly small resort and there were always plenty of chairs and it was nice not to have to make reservations for restaurants and be able to just show up when you were ready to eat. Reservations and everything through Apple worked out fine.

Excellent Stay at Dreams Cabo

Loved the resort! The infiniti pool was amazing-I could spend every minute of the day there. Best restaurant was the seaside grill. Jose ran a tight ship, Elaine helped to be sure all guests were seated quickly and had a nice meal. I wish I could remember all of our servers, Alexis, Hugo, and Mod gave great service. Our room was big and the balcony offered great views. I was disappointed that we couldn't go into the ocean, though I did know that in advance. The evening Mexican dinner was my favorite with the mariachi band and other performers-you definitely don't want to miss that one. The pirate dinner was also great. I wish there had been a couple other evening shows, though watching the set-up for these two, I see how much work went into getting it prepared. Hugo did a great job as the mc for the events! Great stay at Dreams Cabo-highly recommend it!

Relaxing trip!

Jul 10 2017
This was a great-quick trip!! The resort was clean, staff was very courteous. The 4th of July entertainment was excellent. Daily activities lacked for adults-"water aerobics" was listed as one and the entertainment for that was Zumba standing on the water landing-not actually in the water. It was wonderful not needing reservations at the restaurants-the 3 of us got in right away each meal. The World Café for breakfast was our favorite-especially the Smoothie bar, Bloody Mary and mimosa bar!! I was not happy that our reservation was made for 2 queens beds and when we arrived there was not any available unless we upgraded for another $120/nt, which I did not feel that I should have absorbed that on top of what we had already had a reservation for. To accommodate us they brought us an roll-a-bed. Played golf at the Campestre San Jose-amazing Jack Nicklaus course. Had to purchase a collared shirt for my daughter since the concierge did not pass onto us the exact dress code. The cab drive there was $25 each way for a 15 drive. The pool was very relaxing and music was mixed which we enjoyed, lounge chairs and towels were nice! The beach is beautiful but the sand is very rough (last year we went to Cancun and the sand was much more easier to walk in). The Apple Vacations transfers went very smooth. The resort is not a huge one, but certainly one that you can easily get around and make choices for meals. The spa is pricy, but very good and accommodating.

The food was excellent and the hotel was very clean. However, I was told by the representative at Apple that we would receive privileged guest services which we did not receive. This was my first time at an all inclusive but I was unable to request certain wines, liquors, etc. unless I was a privileged guest. This was very misleading. I also was disappointed that we were not able to swim in the beach. Apparently guests never swim in the beach because of the rip tides. They also spent considerable time trying to sell me excursions when I first arrived. I was tired, hungry and ready to relax and the woman we were handed off to was relentless in her approach. I don't understand this aspect of the hotel/Apple at all. Never having been to an all inclusive I don't have anything to compare this to but I shouldn't have to pay $6,000 for an all inclusive and then be told I'm not a privileged guest. Just saying....

the room service was outstanding with the cleaning staff paying particular attention to the smallest details. Our room bed was turned down every evening with a card relating the next days weather..The food service and quality of food was beyond excellent. Just having a formal dinner or something at the beach was an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to talk with Eduardo who related the he had only been to Dreams in Cabo for 3 weeks. He asked me if he could ask me about the service and food and was sincerely interested in my impressions of Dreams in general. He impressed me as a dedicated member of management and sincerely interested in my impressions of Dreams food and service.. The only negative comment I had was about the water temperature of the pool and we both laughed about not being able to control Mother Nature.. Overall our experience having stayed at other Dreams resorts was High excellent..

Great rooms, nice property, nice staff. But the food
Zak S,

My expectation going in. Based on what we paid and the brand I'm expecting a middle of the road all-inclusive. I'm expecting rooms that have nice views but may be aging or not quite as clean. I'm expecting good snacks and ok room service but underwhelming dinners. I'm expecting very limited drink choices. I'm expecting good service and a pretty decent amenities based on the pics I've seen. The welcome... was great. Beautiful atrium, a hot towel, a glass of champagne and no line. The grounds appeared clean and the staff was all over with smiles and helping hands. We checked in around 2PM and our room was ready. We upgraded to the preferred club at check-in. The room: We were told our room was upgraded. The room was certainly better than expected. 3rd floor overlooking the adult pool and surf past that. It was enormous and clean. It was not aging and we were told that this hotel had recently been renovated so maybe that's why. Really no complaints here which was surprising. Some of our travel partners were not quite as lucky but it was in between a hurricane and an earthquake so I don't think they were busy. They were able to switch everyone's rooms until all were satisfied. The preferred club: This is our second time at an all-inclusive with a similar "club". It's another way to get some more money out of you and make you feel more important (exclusive). This one was nice. Higher end drinks (beer, alcohol) and snacks. It didn't have a view or anything more than kind staff and better food/snacks and drinks. The pools were great. We spent all our time at the main pool (kid friendly) and much of it at the swim up bar. This bar can get busy so pick your visits carefully and save yourself some time. Music was played all day. It was kinda strange remixes of american 90's 00's music in the morning becoming more upbeat as the day went on. The standard entertainment was provided by the staff including things like cocktail making and tequila tasting. The beach was closed. As most reviews note this is not a swimmable area of the beach. They didn't post lifeguards at all while we were there. Someone would just parole the beach ever so often to let anyone standing down there know it was closed. Part of this may have been due to the recent beach erosion due to a hurricane the weekend before. The surrounding area was non-existent? By that I mean you aren't walking anywhere. You are a short ride to Cabo San Lucas but the immediate area has more buildings in construction or falling down than it has completed buildings. The food was worse than expected and I didn't expect much. I could go on about each meal here but I'll just break it down into categories Breakfast: Probably the highlight because well, you can't really mess up an omelette. Certainly breakfast didn't set a great tone but it was ok. The service here was hit and miss. One day great, the other ok. The restaurant ambiance was a bit stale and the presentation could have been better. But again, this was as good as it got. Lunch: I'll just say the food and service wasn't great. We tried the restaurant by the pool and we also tried room service. After two tries we ended up eating sushi at the beach bar every lunch/snack. Literally every one of us every day. We knew we were pushing our luck with beach side sushi but it seemed as safe as anything else we were experiencing. Dinner: Nicer ambiance, higher expectations. Worse service, food was just as bad. Rubbery, fatty cuts of... everything. Orders wrong. Food cold. Food served with 15 minute gaps between two people in the same party. This was all at their nicest restaurant. This experience was pretty consistent across each dinner location. Very disappointing considering you didn't even have decent room service to fall back on. I really hope we just caught them at a bad time with the food. It was a nice resort otherwise and this area had just been hit by a hurricane and was feeling the affects of the massive quake in Mexico City and had also had a smaller quake just 100 miles away while we were there. The great: We were there for a wedding, moved there on short notice, and from all accounts the wedding planner (a resort employee) moved heaven and earth to accommodate 40 people and plan a gorgeous wedding. Regardless of the food many of us had memories we will cherish forever. The kicker: Several of us in the party got sick. Please don't let this influence my review of the food above. That was taken without consideration for this last bit. 8 or so of the 40 all got sick either the day of the wedding or within the next 24-48 hours. To me that seems like a virus but I'm not sure. Most suspect the food. If you read through the reviews here you'll see similar stories unfortunately. We almost expected it with the beachside sushi but some of the kids were also sick and never had sushi. We talked to another wedding party there who had 17 get ill and the bride barely made it down the aisle before retreating to her room.

I don't believe in long reviews, I believe in truthfulness and to the point. To start, the room. Yes it is nice just as most people have mentioned. No issues with the room, other than there are no snacks in the room. Not a deal breaker, but would have been nice. The food. The breakfast buffet was adequate, nothing to rave about but no issues with it. Portofino was very good, service there was the best we had at the resort. Seaside had good service and food. Oceana was fair, but could have been an off night. Room service we actually enjoyed, it didn't take too long and was good. As some have mentioned there are no snacks, but then again it's not a cruise ship were you eat all day, it's a resort. Service. It was very good, no issues at all. The bad. Yes it is a noisy resort. It's not enough to ruin a trip, but I prefer a little less noise. Tip. If you like interesting drinks, the lobby bar will make you some fabulous drinks. I learned this too late. Tip, tip, and tip, it is appreciated by the staff, remember a couple dollars to you is nothing, but it well received by the staff. Don't be surprised if the person next to you who is tipping gets better service, it's only logical that would happen. Entertainment. Well it is simple and each night a small performance, but once again it was fine. I gave 4 stars because it's a clean, nice resort. Some aspects of the hotel exceeded my expectations, some just met them. Nothing disappointed me. I have stayed at other resorts in cabo, which I enjoyed more, but with a cost to that. Dreams is a good value, remember don't expect world class food and amenities, unless you are willing to pay for it. But what you get is good for what you pay for,

Good experience and with one minor issue which if handled correctly this would have been an excellent trip

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Dreams Los Cabos. The only issue we had was the beginning of our trip. When we arrived we were told our room was being upgraded and we had already booked a junior suite king but when they gave us the upgraded room it was 2 double beds. So to us as a married couple this was not satisfactory. So we had to wait 3 more hours for a new room. They were also suppose to give us some goodies for one of our birthdays and this took us until at least the 3rd day to receive. But the staff was very nice and the resort was beautiful. The breakfast was awesome every morning. We had fun trying all the dinner spots. We enjoyed our visit and hope to visit one of AMR's resorts in the future but hope they can get the room thing fixed as we have stayed at 2 of your resorts and each time our rooms were double beds when we had booked king beds. Als we tried a day trip that cost $20 to go to a bed to swim and when we got there they said it was too rough to swim and we got charged for the taxi ride which we thought was unfair as they charged us $8 each for a brief 10 minute drive each way. We had 13 people on this trip so did they really pay $104 for a 10 minute ride that they couldn't refund all of our $20? We thought that could have been easily refunded by a resort that I am sure makes enough money to fix that situation without making it feel like it was our fault. We spent a lot of money on this visit just to come there so the taxi situation could have been handled better. Again we enjoyed the stay overall and even with the bad start and the bad swimming trip we still enjoyed the area and would go again but will probably go visit another area first as we want to visit many places as possible to see the world.

This all-inclusive resort is the only way to go. Dreams is attractive, clean, staff friendly, tranquil yet adventurous and away from rif raf but easy to venture out. A must shout out to some key folks, Antoine for Prefered Club, Luis at the Ocean Grill, Melaney at housekeeping. Now for restaurants, 1st prize to Bordeaux and ask for Aldolfo. With fine dinning likes from wife and daughter, this was a pleaser and ask for Mexican Coffee show. Second goes to Portofino withe excellent risotto and wonderful bread. Do the Fire show and of course tequila tasting. For Excursions go with ATV trip booking with front desk and Angelo will take you on a wonderful experience at Wild Canyon. Luxury Day sail was super fun with first mate Daniel. So next stop another AMresorts.

From the moment we arrived we were blown away with the excellent service from everybody on the resort. Anything we needed or any question we had was met and answered within minutes. Especially Josue Anorve the bell boy, he went above and beyond with every interaction from recommendations to insuring our stay exceeded expectations! We cant wait to return to this beautiful resort!
