Heated pools, great service, great food and no bugs!

We were totally impressed by this sophisticated modern sleek hotel. Here's what we liked: exceptional service and attitude displayed by all employees, really great food with top notch creative ingredients, beautiful rooms with super comfortable beds and perfectly quiet air conditioning, wonderfully heated pools and absolutely no mosquitoes nor insects of any kind. We had a Preferred room which was generous in size and I certainly recommend this option. Although we usually prefer resorts with larger properties we appreciated the convenience of having all the facilities and restaurants in one relatively compact building. I plan to return to STV next year. Can't wait to come back! Note - the only downer was the sound of drilling/construction at the nearby Hard Rock hotel. It was annoying but not a deal breaker.

preferred option is well worth it

Had enjoyable stay at Secrets The Vine Dec 2016. The preferred option is well worth it. Especially liked the service provided by Yolanda Silvano in the preferred lounge. She is a beautiful young lady who was very attentive to my wife's and my needs each morning. She made us feel like family. Also Norberto provided excellent beach service. He knew when to bring more drinks without asking and provided prompt food service.

We had a great time at Secrets. We had to upgrade our room it wasn't what we thought we were getting booking through Expedia. We spent an additional $250 for the larger room with the larger terrace facing both the beach and the lagoon on a higher floor it was well worth it. We loved the restaurants the service was great in each restaurant we had no issues no problems at all. It's what we're were hoping for just a real relaxing time and doing what we want. There are some shows after dinner in the pool area and in the piano bar one night there was a great mariachi band that we really enjoyed. We would definitely recommend this place without any hesitation at all.

Overall: Overall, we had a fabulous vacation at Secrets the Vine. The hotel is sharp, chic, modern and clean, which was greatly appreciated. It’s a bit more expensive than surrounding resorts, but you’re paying for an overall better experience. This was our second time visiting Cancun, and we really enjoyed ourselves. I got really sick from the seafood the last day and was out for a week following our vacation. However, I’d still recommend this hotel (just stay away from the sushi!) Above all, the service really helps the Vine shine. Read below for a more-detailed breakdown of our stay. - Property: The property is brand new and extremely clean. There are always employees cleaning, smiling and ensuring you have a pleasant experience. The only bad thing is the overwhelming aroma therapy throughout the resort campus. It made me nauseous, which is surprising because I love aroma therapy and use it in my home. I think they just used far too much of it! Room: The room was clean and had everything we needed. The bathroom doesn’t have a partition (though, the toilet is in a separate “room” with a door) and the shower is separated with glass. This wouldn’t be ideal in a family situation, but works just fine for couples. The shower temperature was finicky – it seemed it was either scalding hot or very cold. The controls were too sensitive! The balcony is phenomenal and roomy. We never really saw others using their balcony, so the lack of privacy wasn’t an issue for us. In the minibar, which is included in the all-inclusive packages, you get four or six waters, four Coronas (appreciated this), two Cokes, two Coke Lites, two Sprites and two Fantas each day. It was always restocked and we had no issues. I wish the A/C could get lower than 72F - during the day, it seemed a bit too warm for my liking and it never felt to actually get down to 72F. Though, others may find it just fine as I am sensitive to stale heat. Food: The food was very good everywhere we went. I think my favorite was the Mediterranean restaurant and my partner’s was the Japanese restaurant. The buffet was surprisingly good quality (unlike other resorts) and I appreciated them swapping out the food on the burners often. The burgers and nachos were delicious by the pool (you can order via your server). I did eat the sushi my last night at the Japanese restaurant, which was a huge mistake. I trusted it because I did not have any problems with the other food throughout the week. I was very sick for more than a week following my vacation and had to go to urgent care in the U.S. No fun, so I’ll have to knock off a star. This may have been able to have been prevented if I took probiotics for more than three days prior to our trip to Cancun. I usually do it for two weeks prior, but I slacked this trip. Service: WOW! We were treated so well by everyone at the resort. Every encounter was pleasant. No complaints here – be sure to tip, especially your pool servers! Entertainment: There are daily calendars distributed each night, which helps you stay up to date on what’s happening and when. I was pleasantly surprised – I was expected sub-par entertainment. The pool dances, the ping-pong tournament and the “circus acts” were all so fun. Pools: No complaints here. We did not have the preferred club, so we were not able to access the pool on the higher floor, but we had access to three pools, which was plenty. I appreciated the water was comfortable and warm (not the case at another resort we stayed at last year). Bars: There are so many bars in this resort. We stayed for five days and still weren’t able to enjoy all of them! I appreciated the sports bar because I love to play pool. I also appreciated the dance music played at night (though, 11 p.m. is pretty late for me after laying in the sun all day!) – had an absolute blast the last night.

this was our second visit to this resort, perhaps its best feature is its overall excellent service. staff are friendly, know their jobs and are invested in making sure you are having a wonderful time. You will be greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and If you are lucky, Erick and/or Michelle will handle your check-in and Ruben will take you to your room/suite. We booked a run of the house accommodation which is the lowest price the hotel offers. While the room was very nice size, with good closet and drawer space, the lighting was poor and the bed very uncomfortable. Housekeeping was good and the one problem we experienced was handled quickly and efficiently. this is an all inclusive property with 7 restaurants and plenty of bars as well as a café serving specialty coffees in the lobby. There are daily wine tastings and entertainment on most evenings. Note, while the hotel features wines, the complimentary selection is rather limited and the service staff seem intent on pushing the wide selection of very overpriced bottles of wine. Stick with the complimentary ones----they are not great, but are drinkable and much better than the service staff says they are. Also, while the hotel says premium spirits are included, you won't find a single malt scotch, even if you wanted to pay for it. Of course, most guests will find the complimentary selection of spirits and cocktails more than satisfactory. The restaurants all feature great service, but the quality of the food varies considerably. The lobby café features a buffet breakfast with made to order eqg dishes. The buffet selections--other than the fruit----are not replenished very often---if at all and may have sat around so long as to render them uneatable. Note, the woman who prepares the made to order eggs is a gem. She is always pleasant---despite some not so nice guests----is unbelievably efficient and her dishes are always cooked perfectly. The Peruvian style restaurant poolside has great food and a very nice selection. Great for lunch of dinner. Seating indoor and out. Try the ceviches and the soup and go from there. A must try. The bluewater grill on the 12th level was disappointing both times we ate there. The grilled octopus and the tenderloin steak were very poor. On the other hand, the appetizers like the octopus salad and tuna ceviche were outstanding. The Asian restaurant, Dragon, features a very far reaching array of dishes from various cuisines----Chinese, thai, Korean, etc. The food is nicely presented but somewhat overcooked, but you are sure to find something you like. Try the fresh fish. The restaurant chef, Andres, is a wonderful host and is great to chat with. He offered to make us a special breakfast of Chinese style soup and dim sum and delivered it himself as promised the next morning to the market café. A great experience. The hotel's best restaurant is Nebbiolo---Italian style cuisine. The hostess, Jessica and the restaurant chef--Alejandra---were over the top in welcoming us and preparing special off-menu items. You can't go wrong is this restaurant, but make sure to try the carpaccio and the risottos. You will have a dining experience to remember. The hotel has a very nice full featured spa which is well worth trying if you can afford it. While Secrets may not be the best property in Cancun, it is certainly among the best and well worth booking.
