Not only is this hotel absolutely beautiful, the staff is courteous, caring and understanding. The food is great! Olio and Dragons were my favorite restaurants. The bars, the pools, the hotel room itself were all clean, comfortable and just overall fun! Thank you Secrets, I will DEFINITELY be returning here for my next vacation! Loved it all! More>

This resort is adults only and very modern. The decor is very stylish with a great evening atmosphere. Staff is the best I have experienced at an all inclusive resort, really friendly and helpful. Plenty of pool loungers and a good number of restaurants for dinner. The night time entertainment was not great, but daytime pool activities ( synchronized swimmers, samba dancers, jenga and trivia ) were quite fun. Overall a great property with style and wonderful service! More>

The service is what sets Secrets The Vine ahead of the rest

To begin, this is about the 15th all inclusive resort I have stayed in in Cancun. This time we chose a preferred junior suite. The view was fantastic! And the preferred club was definitely worth the upgrade. Upon check in, we were brought right up to the 21st floor where our butler, Angel, checked us is. They were very accommodating and we were pleased to have our rooms assigned next to the friends we traveled with. The rooms were well stocked with the typical mini fridge with beers and sodas. The only difference is at this resort, you only get small bottles of alcohol (tequila and rum) where other resorts give you full sized bottles in your room. But, there are many many bar options throughout the resort (with premium alcohol). So no big deal. One thing I would like to mention about the room is that the shower's mixing valve does not work properly. You either get really hot water or cold water. It's tricky, so be careful. Other than that, the beds were comfy and the suites were spacious. As you walk through this resort, one thing stands out. The employees! They are truly there to make your experience superior. If you ask for something out of the norm, you will receive it! Anyone who has been to MX, can see where I'm coming from. It's usual to ask for assistance and get a blank look and a, "I'll ask my manger" response. Then nothing gets done. Not at The Vine. They get it done! And with a great attitude. For example, we asked Omar in the lobby bar for Don Julio tequila. He did not have any, but the minute we asked, he ran to find us some. He was back in minutes with the bottle in his hand! Amazing! And again, with a great attitude and a smile. You've read over and over how friendly the entertainment staff is. Well, it's true! One that I would like to give kudos to is Valeria. What a sweet and lovely girl she is. Always with a smile and a positive attitude! She's truly a gem. As for the food, all was very good. They have a wide variety and you'll never go hungry. I'm a picky eater and I always found something I liked. A couple of favorites for me were the tuna tecate in the Bluewater Grill and the hot pretzels at the The Vine Bazzar (I know it's something small, but they're so good!). The filets at the Bluewater were decent as well. This is something you don't find too often in MX. :-) The room service was great one morning, but the other we tried it...not so good. But, our friends had a great experience with room service both days. The Piano Bar had music in the evening. It was good. One night they had a comedian/juggler...good show! I would have liked to have seen a barbecue on the beach with entertainment, but did not. Maybe management will consider this. :-) The Sports Bar has a rather sweaty smell to it. Not a good one whatsoever. In addition, the waterfall in front of The Dragons restaurant lets off an awful rancid smell. I hope management will also fix this. The pools were nice and clean. The water was also cool and refreshing; especially considering the extreme temperatures in Cancun. I preferred the regular pools over the preferred pool. The staff working at the preferred pool weren't as friendly. That's sad, because everywhere else service was so superior! I teetered between a 4 star and 5 star on this review. I opted for the 5 star because the staff and service blew us away! We will definitely be back to the Secrets Resorts. More>

Finally a resort that understand the meaning of service

I will be brief on this review as I only stayed there for a long weekend. It started out with a private check-in on the 24th floor. We upgraded to a Junior Suite as the cost to do so was minimal. While checking in, we were surrounded by 5 staff members who were eager to help us get check in and acquainted with the Hotel. Edward, our butler, was most professional and accommodating. Having just stayed at the Live Aqua, we were eager to see the difference in the level of service and must say that it was far and above better at Secrets The Vine. After a seamless check-in, we were allowed to use the facilities even though we had arrived some six hours before our scheduled check-in time. Having been up some 12 hours already, I decided to have a margarita with my breakfast. At some resorts I've been given a strange look for doing so, which kind of irked me. Here it was as if I asked for an orange juice. I must say that the buffet was splendid for breakfast. In fact, I wouldn't waste my time with room service as the food usually arrives a little on the dated side and usually isn't cooked to order. I had it twice and both times changed direction and headed to the buffet. The rooms were absolutely as clean as possible. We've stayed at some very nice places in Mexico, and we find that some just aren't as clean as they could be. This place was immaculate. If the management is listening, we stayed in 2409 and whoever cleans that room does an excellent job. We found the refrigerator in the room to be ice cold (another feature not often found in Mexico). The rooms are stocked with three bottles of liquor, one tequila and two Bacardi bottles. I did not recognize the tequila brand name. With a little convincing, I was able to get a full size bottle of crown delivered to my room. That made the late evening people watching from the balcony a little more entertaining. More about the rooms. The showers come stocked with very large size bottles of body wash, shampoo and conditioner. All of which smell terrific. One additional thing Secrets does is provides you with some very nice sun screen. I stayed at one about seven years ago and that's a really nice bonus. Additionally, there is plenty of bottled water that is replaced frequently since you have turn-down service. The refrigerator is also stocked with plenty of drinks, both beer, soda and water. They also filled some special requests we had for only diet soda and true to form, they filled that request. We ate the first night at the steak restaurant and I found the best food I've ever had in Mexico. First the Tuna Ceviche will make you long for seconds. In fact, we skipped the Italian restaurant in favor of going back for seconds expressly for the Tuna Ceviche. It's probably the single most favorite food I've ever experienced in Mexico and probably makes my top 10 list of all time favorites. As a group, we explored the menu at the steak restaurant and were impressed with about everything on the menu. It's been my experience that most steak restaurants in Mexico just seem to be missing something, but not this place. My rib eye was so flavorful, I needed no steak sauce and it cut with a very dull steak knife. On the second night I had the rib roll, which can be described as a very flavorful pot roast. Not my favorite, but good non the less. My one complaint or area I think could be improved was the private pool on the 12th floor. In the advertisements, they show all sorts of floats at this pool, but when you get there, there is only one float and it is shared by all the guests. I really don't want to use a float that someone else spent an hour sweating and who knows what else. You may want to bring your own blow-up float. I found the service at this pool to be a little slow as well. There was only one server and the place was filled with guests. We did not go back to this pool as it wasn't as much fun as we thought it would be. On a side note, you probably won't have trouble getting a seat here as most days it didn't fill up until well past noon. Ok, I guess I did have one more complaint and that had to do with the sushi restaurant. We ate there and were surprised at the slow service. It took us almost an hour and fifteen minutes to eat our dinner. It seemed that there were only two servers for the entire restaurant. Our first round of beer was warm and it took forever to get them replaced. After that, drinks would sit empty without being refilled for some time. We visited the Sports Bar and had a blast singing the Olay song with all the Collin McGregor fans as we watch the UFC fight. This place was jammed with people, yet we had great service. I wish I caught the waiter's name, but he was moving so fast taking drink orders that he was a flash in and out. Again, great service here. The only minor complaint is the smell. For some reason both here and the piano bar smell like a poorly vented bathroom. Did I mention friendly staff? I met Valeria at bingo one day and talk about an infectious personality. It's hard to not have fun when you are around her. I also met Omar at the downstairs bar by the buffet. He personified the difference between this resorts and others when it came to service. I made a special request for a specific tequila. He knew off the top of his head all the tequilas the place stocked and knew where this one was stored. He called someone to man the bar while he took off to find a key to the secret stash. A few minutes later he returned with my prized tequila bottle. A couple of shots later and I was off to have fun. The next day I returned to the bar and asked him if he had been giving away my tequila (just joking). He said no, and reached down to a special place in the bar and pulled out the bottle. He said he figured I would be back for more. That never happens anywhere in Mexico, but it happened at Secrets The Vine. The management here does a great job here of giving their employees the ability to solve problems. I believe this one trait helps set them apart. Great job Secrets The Vine. We will be back. More>
