Beaches are georgeous and tons of stuff to do! Nightlife is GREAT!! Some things (Casino, Simon Restauraunt and Oro nightclub not part of all inclusive) but for the most part a true all inclusive! We had an amazing time!
Don't hesitate in booking your trip! This place is top notch. Friendliest and most accommodating people we've ever met. This was only our second all-inclusive, but in talking with friends and family that have been all over the Caribbean, they said this place was the best/nicest they've been.
My wife and I just returned from getting married at this resort and spending a magical ten days. We WILL be returning and highly recommend you seek out the following people who mad our trip extra special.
If you splurge for the Rock Star Royalty package (do it), request Damaris as your personal assistant. She catered to our every need from making reservations, picking us up in a golf cart at our request, to fixing our relatives hotel rooms as needed (had to move our aunt and uncle due to noise). She never hesitated to make our trip perfect. Damaris is outstanding, and if the other personal assistants are anywhere close, you will feel like true royalty.
If you are getting married, request Olga as your wedding planner. We had a beach wedding and reception. We got through the wedding, pictures and cocktail hour when a surprise Caribbean storm moved in. We were so nervous we would lose the entire reception because we signed a weather form, making it so that the resort was not liable to give us anything. Olga saw the storm moving in, and moved our 60 person wedding from the beach to a ballroom within an hour and the resort gave us a complimentary reception with EVERYTHING we had paid for - down to the private Michael Jackson show. It was incredible to see the speed and determination she had to make sure we had the most magical wedding, and they didn't charge us a dime even though they weren't legally obligated due to the contract we signed that morning when looking at the weather. She was absolutely amazing.
If you go to the Drums pool, seek out a bartender on the pool bar named, Benito. He is awesome. We would tip him in the morning and never wait for a drink again all day, even when crowded. He remembered us from our welcome cocktail hour and we chatted with him all day. He's a great guy, and great bar tender.
If you are getting married, splurge for the Michael Jackson show. It took our wedding to the next level. All of our guests can't stop talking about how it was the best, and most memorable wedding they've ever attended.
This place is paradise. Book now or you'll regret it in the future! And request the folks above by name. True professionals that will go out of their way to make your stay/wedding a lasting memory!
I visited this hotel whit my wife and my son, all around pretty nice decoration and the architecture was amazing (especially if you like wooden constructions) a nice balance between Dominican traditional constructions and American pop and rock culture. As a general overview I think that I can give 4 of 5 stars to the hotel (in terms of price and quality) in the fallowing lines I'll give you some descriptions of the restaurants, the pools and the beach, you can go strait to the descriptions you are more interest in to save time and I hope it is helpful for you :-D
Toro steakhouse (dining) 4 of 5
First of all the building of the restaurant was close because they are reconstructing some things there, but they do open air dining whit live music performances, really nice so far. The menu was small, may be 15 options or so, but very attractive ones. When we get our orders the plates where hot, so much hotter than the food, so hot that the runner couldn't hold them (poor guy). The food was really good anyways, properly cooked an juicy ;-)
El Gallo Mexican cuisine (dining) 1 of 5
My worse experience in this hotel so far. We are professionals in this area (my wife and I in the restaurants industry) and we saw the waiters and runners making mistakes all around, our waiter let us waiting for like 20 minutes, we get the drink with the the diner and they where horrible (worst bloody Marie ever, passion fruit juice terrible, omg disgusting sangria) not even their most spicy dish was spicy at all (diabola shrimps). I don't recommend this place at all...
The sad part is that the place looks really nice and there is a guy going around whit different tequila flavors, but that's the way it is.
Ciao Italian cuisine (lunch) 5 of 5
Omg this buffet haves so many choices of seafood, and so good. If you don't speak Spanish there you may find it a little difficult because I saw people unable to speak whit English speakers and I had to translate and for god sake forget the pizza and hamburgers, there are so many othe thing that you can try that you'll be surprise ;-)
The market (breakfast) 4 of 5
If you like me are a cheese lover this is your buffet; Camembert, blue cheese, Suisse, Danish, provolone, manchego, Gouda, local cheeses and more (trust me). The personal is very polite and they serve you cafe, milk, chocolate milk, juices, mimosas at your table, very nice ;-)
Ipanema Brazilian cuisine (breakfast) 4 of 5
What I like the most of this buffet was the juice and shakes bar, they do it in front of you and whit the fruit (no concentrate here), for eating is mainly what you spect for a breakfast buffet, but it was a lot more quiet than the other ones for breakfasting and the atmosphere is really nice :-D
Zen Asian teppanyaki (dining) 5 of 5
In this restaurant you can can choose to have a table end eat "a la carte" or to have a chef in front of you making the food which I recommend a lot (I did not eat from the menu, but it doesn't look very interesting for me), our chef's name was "Claude", such a polite, professional and funny guy. The food was not the best I try in the hotel, but it was so nice that i'de better go there than any other of the restaurants. Fried rice, beef, chicken and fried vegetables and shrimps, also tempura banana and tempura ice cream, as I told you not a lot of Choices in there, but the show is great ;-)
Cafetto (lunch) 1 of 5
In this restaurant we did not have a bad service (not even a good one) we can say it was just ok, but in general the restaurant is nothing better than a 3th class cafeteria, for me it was like nothing worth trying
The beach 5 of 5
White sands, beautiful coconut palms, clear waters, omg, heaven on earth, they really choose a nice spot to make this hotel, is just lovely, only be careful whit the waves and your children's if you have any, they can be really big some times.
The pools 3 of 5
There are many, many pools, but they are mainly the same thing, nothing really changes much, which means that going to one is the same of going to the others...
Anyways they are nice, around 4.5 feeds deep, and clean, I think there is not a lot more to say about it.
I hope my review to be helpful to you and nice vacations :-)
We made the best of an often frustrating experience, it became common place for my husband and me to say we're not going to let this ruin our trip.
We reserved and paid for a Caribbean Diamond Suite but did not have any of the upgrades in our room (premium liquor, aroma therapy menu, pillow menu). The biggest disappointment for us was the lack of premium bar. We made the front desk aware of this problem on our first day and followed up several times during our stay, and this was never remedied. When we called to ask about the aroma therapy and the pillow menu we were told that not all rooms get it. Eventually, she investigated and sent the menus up. Lastly, the doors to the rooms were not sealed well at all. Any noise in the hallway echoed throughout and was not dampened much in the rooms. This was only a problem the few nights that some people had a really good time and came back to their rooms at around 2am-3am making a bunch of noise.
We booked a Bali bed for $80 and were given specific instructions that we could only have 2 people per bed and noise had to be kept to a minimum. Half way through the day the couple in the bed next to us left and short time later a hotel staff member brought over a large group of very drunk, loud and obnoxious girls. They could not have had a reservation for the bed because the rental is for the full day, and a couple had been there earlier. Hard Rock staff said nothing about the extra people or the noise. We'd had enough when one of the girls yelled to her friends to look away because she was going to urinate in the bushes behind the Bali beds. We called and spoke with a manager about this, he said he would investigate and give us a call back, which he never did. We went to the front desk the next morning to let them know what happened, and again were told that they would need to investigate and confirm that we actually rented a bali bed the day before, prior to helping us. We were at the front desk for 30 minutes before they offered to re-book the Bali beds free of charge. Unfortunately, when we checked out, the charge was on our bill.
Now for the good! The property at the Hard Rock was amazing and incredibly beautiful. They provide plenty of activities to keep you busy. This includes shows in the theatre, various parties and themes, the spa, golf course, and various tours. Our two favorite things were probably the Michael Jackson impersonator concert and the Moon Rocker tour. Definitely, definitely, do the Moon Rocker tour. It takes you through a large natural section of the property, over rocks and through watery areas, where you will eventually end up cruising along a beautiful and deserted beach. Once at the stopping point, there was a man hacking open coconuts for each person to drink coconut water before heading back. The tour guide was very funny and helpful throughout. If you have no problem driving fast, try to make sure you are near the front so that you do not get stuck behind more apprehensive drivers.
The name of the person who was our concierge for the trip was Kissel, and she was a very helpful and attentive person. She even helped us get some medication that my wife forgot at home. She talked to a pharmacist so that he could find a similar alternative and had it delivered to the hotel so that we didnât even have to leave. Along with Kissel, the wait staff in all the various areas (restaurants, Bali beds, etc.) were all very friendly and attentive. We do wish that there were more good English speakers, but we were in another country, so perhaps we were expecting too much. Kissel and the other staff that took care of guiding you through all the options and helping out if there were issues all spoke great English, so it wasnât too much of a hassle.
The food at the restaurants was better than we had expected for an all-inclusive type package. We tried all of the restaurants and didnât really have any complaints for any of them, but mostly just ended up back at Toro for the final days of the trip. The ribeyeâs were great there, and we love steak, so we just kept going back once we had tried everything. We had great room service experiences as well. You donât have to be afraid of ordering a steak, it still came cooked at the right temperature and was delicious. I wish we had taken more advantage of it, but we really liked getting out of the room and going to the restaurants.
The Wi-Fi in the rooms is really good. It was NHL playoffs and I was able to stream the Penguins games with no issue. I was still receiving signal when we were on the beach, which was great when I was laying around with my tablet. These goes for all of the pools as well. Eden was our favorite. Not only do they have Bali bed rentals there, but they also have these really cool swing beds (first come first serve) that are basically mattresses hanging from the trees. One day, they threw a full on DJâed party there. It was fun people watching all of the people that came there to party.
There is so much to say after staying at a resort this large for 7 days, but it needs to be cutoff somewhere, and this is that point.
I spent 7 night at the Hard Rock resort. It was my first time traveling there and had an incredible time. The rooms were clean, service was great our entire stay. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to the Presidential suite. Juan DeLeon was our butler and truly made the stay enjoyable. He was there for us anytime we needed anything and was so professional. We left feeling like we were leaving family.
We spent the majority of our days enjoying the beautiful weather and spent time at the VIP pool. Doralinda was our server and was so incredible. I recommend you ask for her.. She was so sweet and while we spent most of the time in the water, we never had to wait for drinks or food. She had such a great personality.
Weather was perfect and only rained 1 night. The resort is surrounded by allot of trees and brush.. You might want to pack your mosquito repellent.
The casino does become very smokey. The restaurant food is good. The only bad experience was in the Mexican restaurant as the food was cold. We left and had pizza next store. :) The Spa experiences were incredible.
The resort is very big. They have a nice tram system or can be a nice walk if it's not too humid.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana.
