Positives - most amazing beach in terms of size and quality, incredible staff at bars and restaurants, food and drink quality (non-buffet) exceeded expectations including vegetarian options, grounds are highly maintained, fabulous fitness facilities, veranda feature outside the room was a plus (2nd floor), great room service for food and extra beverages, plenty of beach space/chairs/water sport options to keep you occupied. Negatives - rooms are a bit dated but adequate, bedding was more firm than desired, road traffic noise was infrequent but very noticeable at night, ocean view option was not entirely factual, 1st floor rooms lack privacy, buffet was typical for all-inclusive, martini bar did not serve very good martini's.

We love Couples Resorts. This is the second Couples we stayed at. Can't beat the service, quality, and luxury. We plan on returning next year to Jamaica and will only consider one of the Couples Resorts. Definitely get your moneys worth and more. .. More>

We got married on the beach and couldn't have asked for a better wedding. They did an excellent job keeping people from walking through and hanging in the water behind us. They did an excellent job on our DVD.I highly recommend anybody getting married to get one.Food, staff, and drinks were absolutely excellent.This was my third all inclusive stay,first time at couples,and I would have to say this was by far the best.My only complaint was my room.We decided on the ocean view verandah suite and was pretty disappointed.We couldn't see the ocean at all from the balcony.We had family staying in two other rooms in the garden category and we liked their room much better. It seemed more open.The hotel staff swore that all the rooms were the same size but ours seemed much smaller.It was cluttered up with furniture, where there's was not.However,our bathroom was bigger than theirs.I just expected something bigger and nicer for the extra cost that was put into it.We also had trouble with ants in our room from the time we walked in until we left.My other family members did not have any issues with them at all.It also seemed like our room wouldn't get cool enough and housekeeping kept turning off the ceiling fan and sometimes turning down the air conditioning. That was a little frustrating.Apparently the room upgrade was due to location.My family memebers were by the road and we were not.Other than that,everything was amazing.The resort itself is gorgeous.It's very big so you can definitely get a workout going from one end to the other.Loved the martini bar.The beach was amazing and in my opinion the best along the seven mile beach for the adult only resort option.We walked down to visit some friends at a different resort and the beach was half the size.Recommend spending the extra money to go to Rick's Cafe. The hotel, staff, food, and beach were wonderful. Our only complaint was the pool facilities. The swim up bar, was not what we expected from the pictures and we were disappointed overall with the pool facilities. The whirlpools throughout the resort were too hot to even attempt to get in, and the pool with swim up bar is a poor design. It is required that you actually have to get out of the pool to get to the swim up bar, which is in a very small separate pool.

Our showers were lukewarm at best. Liquor was advertised as top shelf. We do not agree. Room very dark. It was hard to see. Had to find out about events from other guests. Toilet was not working properly. Room clock never had the right time. Not all staff were the friendliest. .. More>

The trip started off terribly. The trip started off terribly. We did not know we needed a copy of our marriage certificate to get the honeymoon package we were promised, we were not given the room we purchased (Atrium with a hammock), the A/C and fridge were broken, and ants infested our bed. After the first 24 hours and we switched rooms, our experience greatly improved. Food was great, drinks were so-so, activities were great, and the overall feel was very relaxing and wonderful. I blame the resort for A/C, fridge, and ants, but I blame Apple Vacations for not informing us we needed to bring our marriage certificate as well as for thinking we were purchasing one room when we received another.

My wife and I vacationed at Couples Swept Away in mid-June. We didn't know it was rainy season, but besides a day of torrential rain, overall the weather was manageable. We had stayed in Jamaica previously at a different resort (which we loved), but we thought we'd try a new place. Arrival at the airport was nice, with the Couples lounge. It definitely was a lot less stressful than the previous resort we'd stayed at. The drive to the resort was manageable as well. Overall, the Couples resort was really nice looking. It was very spread out, which was nice for walking, but not so nice for the rainy times. The food and service was mediocre compared to the previous resort we'd stayed at. The room was decent as well. The beach was superb! It was great being able to walk the seven mile beach. My wife loved the floaties that were provided on the deck chairs -- she spent a lot of time floating in the ocean. I appreciated the included Scuba diving. It was nice that this place truly was "all-inclusive" -- no tips were necessary. All in all, it was a nice enough stay; however, it failed to live up to our expectations, especially for the price. We probably wouldn't stay at this resort again.

On Friday May 10, 2013 my wife and I embarked on our first trip to Jamaica. After researching many places, Couples Swept Away was a resort that kept being recommended, and after a week in paradise I can see why it was! This was the 4th AI resort we have been to (1 Mexico & 2 DR) but we are so glad to have picked Jamaica for our trip of 2013. What a beautiful country and the people are so friendly. Now to my review of CSA!! We travelled on WestJet from St. John?s, NL to Toronto, ON and straight to Montego Bay. Going through customs was a breeze and as soon as you get through, you head right to the Couples Lounge!! Here they take your luggage and tag it to the resort you are going. This is when my Vacation actually begins for me!!! Go in the lounge and grab a few cold Red Stripes and soon your shuttle bus will be ready to hit the road for the 1.5 hour ride! When we arrived at CSA, we were greeted with a cool towel and glass of bubbly. Check in was quick and easy, we were booked into a Garden Veranda Suite and we were given floor options, we decided on the ground floor, thanks to advice from previous CSA travellers. No stairs to climb, breakfast room service just leaves the food on your patio table and just knock on your door, so no need to get up and let them in your room. Also you can get a key for the patio door so you can have access to your room from both sides of the building, just remember that they will add $20 dollars to your account for this key in case you lose it. Our room was in building 7, room 2110. It is considered the older GVS rooms, but these older buildings have all new renovated bathrooms that are excellent. I read lots about how the rooms are dated, but we thought our room was great. What is there to complain about when everything in your room works and your maid does an excellent job keeping your room clean! Now a word of advice, when we checked in at 4pm our room was not ready yet and when we did check into our room our bar was not stocked, even though I preregistered on the Couples site weeks before our trip. This might have bothered some people, but we are on vacation and the next day our room was fully stocked! Now the food at this resort was excellent and there was no shortage of finding something to eat even if you?re a picky eater. We always started with coffee and croissants room service on our patio, and then later on we went for our full breakfast, either at the buffet at the Palms, or at Patois where we had the famous banana stuffed French toast and breakfast pizza!! So good! For lunch we usually went to Seagrapes . Here you have to try the sweet potato chips, fish tacos, Jamaican sushi and the veggie burger. Service here is a little slow, but you?re on vacation so the wait is worth it! Now for supper we went to every restaurant and enjoyed all. There are 2 (Lemongrass & Feathers) that you do have to make reservations. We both really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at these restaurants, the service is fantastic. At Feathers Diana and Stacey Ann were our waitresses and the way they served us was above and beyond what is normal for a dining experience, they both were awesome!! Now I will talk about the beach and what a beach it is!! If you`re pool people, you may want to go elsewhere on your vacation. As soon as you walk onto Seven Mile Beach you will think you have died and gone to heaven. White sand and crystal clear turquoise water as far as you can see. Lots of chairs available, and to be able to use the cushions as a float is genius!! Like all resorts we have been to, the chair game is played here as well, but if you want shade, you will find it no problem. Security on the beach is great, there are lots of locals selling shells and other Jamaican gifts, but they are only allowed a certain distance on the beach and if they get too close the security will let them know. There are 2 beach bars and we usually get up to get our drinks, but sometimes we did use the green flag service. You get thirsty you stick the flag in the sand and soon someone will be over to take your drink order!! Orville was one of the beach waiters we got to know, what a nice guy and a great waiter! Our first trip to Jamaica and to Couples Swept Away was a dream come true. 7 days of sunny beautiful weather at a resort where all the employees are so friendly and all seem to love their jobs. Jamaica is all about love, respect and having no worries and if you go on vacation with that attitude how can you not have the vacation of your dreams!! My wife and I will definitely be returning to CSA and we plan on telling all our friends that if you want to travel to one of the most romantic places on this earth look no further than Jamaica and stay at CSA!! My wife and I just returned from our second stay at Couples Resorts. Our week of April 29 to May 7 at Couples Swept Away was certainly up to the Couples standards in every way. I was a bit concerned with several negative reviews before we left but have come to the conclusion some individuals expect way to much when they go to a Caribbean island . It is going to be different, the pace is slower and sometimes small things are not up to expectations . If you let it bother you too much then it will affect your vacation and how you feel. Good flight down and love the Couples Lounge at the airport where you can change and have a cold Red Strip. Check in was easy- our room was not ready so we went to one of the restaurants to get something to eat. and then back to check in- A second Floor Atrium room as requested- love the large hammock , the room was very clean, very rustic and great shower- very sufficient for our needs. It does take a bit to get use to the sounds at night so you may want to bring ear plugs until you get use to it .Yes there were a few ants in the room on the bathroom counter but a few pennies took care of this the first day and after that did not see another ant ( copper really does the trick here so just spead a few around the room and you will never have an issue )The room was cleaned daily, lots of towels and the mini bar always full with any request you wanted . Two things really impressed me about this resort- the beach was spectacular and you could walk for miles on 7 Mile beach and the food was outstanding- it did not matter what Restaurant you ate at .The service was also very good overall and yes we did experience some slow service at times but nothing to bother you about. The majority of the staff do go out of their way to help including the front desk. For the restaurants would advise you to book early - both Feathers ( ate there twice) and Lemon Grass were excellent and the service great). Really enjoyed Patois bit our favourite was probably Sea Grapes for lunch where we ate everyday . The food was so good- fish tacos, snapper sandwich , chips and dip and the various salads . While we did a some of the excursions we spent most of our time at the beach - so impressive . Here are some of the things you should do while you are there - book the catamaran tour early and enjoy - take the snorkelling tour - went twice to both Mexico and Cuba- impressive - take the glass bottom boat tour - spent a couple evenings at the Martini Bar Listening to Chocolate - enjoy Martinis at the Martini Bar ( or two- what a variety - make sure you hear the Jamaican Steel band - go to Patois for breakfast ( great banana stuffed French toast)- we only went the last day and now wish we would have gone more although Palms was very good - visit the sports bar at least one and have a smoothie - walk around the resort and experience the feel of the place - fish ponds, vegetation, massive trees walk to beach - so impressive and just love talking to the Jamaican singers Overall a great vacation and I understand now why people go back to Couples time and time again. My wife and I travel down south quite a bit and have never gone back to the same resort ever but this may change- we were that impressed . Go and enjoy - you will not regret it . We are now booked for Couples Barbados for the fall .

As I start this review let me give a little backgound about my wife and I. We are both in our mid to late thirties and travel to the Carribean twice a year in May and October. We stay at all inclusives and have enjoyed Iberostar in Mexico, Punta Cana, and Jamaica. We have also stayed at Riu's in Aruba and Mexico, as well as Dreams resorts and a few others I probably forgot to mention. We rarely stay at the same resort twice. Couples has changed our mind on that. We stayed at Couples Swept Away from May 6-15. Now on to the nuts and bolts of this place. ROOMS: We stayed in the Great House Verandah Suite. The pro's of this are Patois Restaurant, The internet cafe, excurion desk, casino, and gift shop are all within steps of your room. The downside of this room category is the Aurora lounge is also in this building and it can get noisy for all of you light sleepers out there. Aurora has a blazing piano and sing along going and usually fizzles at around midnight or 1:00 a.m. The room itself was simple and clean. There are nothing modern or fancy about these rooms except for maybe the flat screen T.V. We loved the simplicty and are not room snobs. The tile and fixtures are dated, but again ni big deal. Everything functioned as it should have and that is all that matters to us. POOL/POOL BAR: My wife and I are usually pool and pool bar folks. We spent maybe a total of 10 minutes at Couples Pool Bar. The pool bar area in this resort is very small and stays packed most of the day. It is hard to get a seat here. The pool is clean and the water temp refreshing. It is also a great place to mingle with other guests as at ties it is alot of people in a small area. THE BEACH: Ahh the beach, and what a beach it is. Comparing the beach a Couples Swept Away to all of the places we have visited and listed above, well there is no comparison. The beach here is magnificent and in our opinion second to none. The beach is long and wide. The water was only shoulder deep all the way out to the ropes, and clear to the bottom. We found numerous star fish and saw several sting rays. We did not hang out at the pool bar because the ocean was so calm it was like a giant swimming pool. You could take the float off of your chair and float for hours undisturbed. There are two bars on the beach so it is not far for a drink if you want to go get one. If you don't want to go get one, just stick a green flag in the sand and beachtender will be by to take your order. The beach by itself is reason enough to come back here. Maragaritaville Negril is also a short walk on the beach from Couples Swept Away. FOOD/RESTAURANTS: We thought the food here was well above average for an all inclusive resort. Lemon Grass was our favorite. It is a Thai cusine with an amazing second level ocean view setting. A sunset dinner here is spectacular. I would recommend booking here a night at around a sunset setting, reservations are needed here. Patois is another good place to eat. You order from the menu here, but no reservations are required. Feathers is the signature restaurant. We did not eat here, after looking at the menu nothing appealed to us. The menus from each restaurant are posted outside, so you can look at them before deciding if it is for you or not. The buffet has a lot of variety and is very good as well. We are not food snobs and do not expect Gordon Ramsey critiqued meals. ENTERTAINMENT/EXCURSIONS: We were never approached or bothered one time by an entertainment team member or staff member begging us to play this or that. This resort has a very laid back, relaxing vibe to it. There is no wild and crazy party hard atmosphere to it. The aurora lounge has a piano show and sing along every night. If you are a party animal and need that scene, this resort may not be for you. There is very little night life at CSA, which was just fine by us. We did the sunset catarmaran cruise which is included and a must IMO. Book this early as we arrived on a Monday, and had to wait until Saturday as it was full up until that time. We also did the One Love Pub Crawl which is off site and not a part of Couples. This was amazing. We were picked up at the resort by the one love bus and travelled to six bars on Negrils west end. A truely awesome experience and a chance to really experience local culture. SERVICE: The service was generally good. Some staff members were friendly as could be and others were not so friendly, but performed the service required of them. This did not bother us. Keep in mind there is no tipping at Couples. We felt horrible about not being able to tip, and did not want to put employees in a position to lose their jobs. Couples is very serious and strict on the no tipping policy. NEGATIVE: We only had one negative at the Martini bar. We sat at the bar, and were the only two people sitting there. There were three staff members cleaning, and they ignored us. After 15 minutes of waiting to be acknowledged, we got up and left. This was not the norm in service for the week and it would not deter us from coming back. This resort is awesome. We loved the laid back vibe and atmosphere. The beach is awesome and we will definitly be back, likley many, many times. Stayed 28/04 to 08/05. Another fantastic stay at Couples Swept Away, staff as pleasant as always, food as yummy as last time the beach and the ocean is still the best we have experienced (apart from my encounter with a jellyfish this time). Had a few minor hiccups but nothing so bad to waste my time complaining about. If you want glitz and glamour then this place is not for you, if you like a true carribean feel and vibe then book it now. Every meal we had was fab apart from Lemongrass my husband's meal was fine on the both occasions we ate there but mine was not so good. All in all we had a fab holiday and can't wait to return again. We flew back to Montego Bay again, which was well worth the money. Any questions ask away!!!

BEACH: Spectacular. This is the BEST part of 7-mile beach. It is wide, soft and stunningly beautiful. You can walk all the way to Margharitaville. SPA: I love facials, body wraps, massages, I love it all. I usually go at least every other day. Instead, I went once, the first time was enough. Our regular vacation routine is breakfast, hubby goes to play golf, I go to the spa, then we meet for lunch and spend the rest of the day on the beach or doing tours. We both work very hard and make the most out of our vacations, which are limited to only 2 per year. Couples advertises their ?award winning? spas ? if true, it is completely undeserved. I arrived an hour early for my appointment, paid for my service, and was pointed to the locker room. Yes, ladies, you heard that right. They POINTED me to the locker room. They didn?t walk me, they didn?t offer me a drink, they pointed. Ok, I?m not stupid, I can find my way down a hall. So I went to the locker room, and there were no slippers. They don?t provide them. Everyone walks around barefoot. (Yuck.) But ok, I?m at an award-winning spa, I?ll get over it. So I looked around for the sauna, couldn?t find it, so I went back out to the front and this time they POINTED me over to the sports side of the complex. So I walked out of the building where I was, in my robe and barefoot, and went to the other counter, and asked about the sauna, and the girl waved generally behind her and told me ?it?s down there? which I took to mean down the hall behind her. Ok, so I then walked down that hall, found what looked like the women?s locker room, went in, and found the sauna. It was not turned on. So I went back out and asked for assistance, and was told there were instructions on the wall. Now, that?s just rude. But I was still trying to make the best of it, so I went back in, looked at the instructions on the wall, which stated to turn on the switch and adjust the dials, which I did, even though the numbers on the dials were so worn I had to guess whether I was setting it right. So while I was waiting for it to warm up, I looked for the robe hook and towels. There are no robe hooks by the sauna, and there were no towels in the locker room. So I thought I must have missed them, went out to the girl at the counter (now for the THIRD time) asked where the towels were, and she reached back and handed me one. Now, let?s think about that for a moment. This was the THIRD TIME that I had spoken to this woman, she KNEW that I was going to use the sauna, she KNEW there were no towels by the sauna, and NOW she hands me one? So, so rude. So anyway, I was still trying to make the best of it, so I went in to use the sauna, and it never got hot. When I re-read the instructions, it only discussed one switch, but I actually found a second switch that I guess I should have turned on. Who knows. So I went back to use the steam room, my feet were dirty by now from walking outside, but whatever. So I went in the steam room, and went out to the waiting room 10 minutes before my appointment. The whole time I waited, NO ONE offered me a drink, asked me how I was, nothing. Finally, the lady came to get me for my appointment, told me to change into my street clothes, and I told her I was going to use the relaxing pool after the appointment so I preferred to stay in my swimsuit and robe. She said I should have used the relaxing pool before my appointment, so I said fine, I went and changed, I didn?t want to get in an argument, I could see where this was going. So I changed, she offered me a drink, and I got my service.
