The one thing that is disappointing is that they and apple keep raising the price of this resort and they are slowly scaling back or eliminating things. Example: Premium liquor has been a selling point. They have eliminated ALL premium liquor from the pool bar and the beach bar. It is limited to .. More>

The one thing that is disappointing is that they and apple keep raising the price of this resort and they are slowly scaling back or eliminating things. Example: Premium liquor has been a selling point. They have eliminated ALL premium liquor from the pool bar and the beach bar. It is limited to the piano bar from 6:30p-2:00am. People go to these resorts to be by the pool and the beach bar. They must put premium liquor back at these locations or stop advertising premium liquor. Even the bartenders are upset by this change.

We were extremely pleased with Couples Negril and would recommend it to friends and family. The food was excellent along with the service. The beach was very well maintained and plenty of chairs on the beach and by the pool. Well worth the money! .. More>

Bartenders were doing a lot of talking with themselves while customers waited to be served. Drink quality was horrible. They give you flags to request drink orders be taken but had 1-2 servers for entire beach and more people just picking up cups not taking orders, sometimes flags were standing for over an hour waiting to order drinks! This is a huge part of paying for an all inclusive vacation. We had 3-4 days that our room wasn't straightened before 5:30 pm. The answer is we are busy:( One night I had the maid arrive to do the turn down service but we hadn't been serviced for the morning yet this was 6:30pm while we were getting ready for dinner. Free mini bar sounds great but you can only order refills during posted times of 9am - 7pm. Sounds easy but really it is 10am we aren't ready yet multiple times or when they are ready not when you call, you must call from room don't try to go to the front desk, oh yeah after you try to order something you must stay in the room and wait those servers to arrive they aren't allowed in the room alone. Why hire them. You could only order 1 specific item like 1 diet Pepsi not 1 for each person in room or 1 beer... They advertise multiple pools and Jacuzzi's but only 1 pool and 1 Jacuzzi were open. 1 Jacuzzi was not working in main pool and the others were under construction during the entire week we were there. I feel they did not let people know well enough about special dinners and special events. A short name was in list but no details. Multiple times we walked out to main deck and said well what is going on and they had seating for dinners for huge crowds and we couldn't find anything informing us of these! Social entertainment people were walking around asking people to play sports and not 1 time were we approached and we are fit athletic people. So it was in my opinion a pick and choose or something, the whole week no one approached us for any activity! Felt like we were invisible!

Couples Negril was a fantastic getaway. Truly relaxing. The staff is friendly, courteous and always willing to help. We never heard the word "no" unless it was in the form of "no problem." Couples Negril was a fantastic getaway. Truly relaxing. The staff is friendly, courteous and always willing to help. We never heard the word "no" unless it was in the form of "no problem." Our room was not as clean as we would have liked, but it's important to remember that the standards of cleanliness abroad are much different than the US standards. Definitely not the worst I've ever seen. The activities, entertainment, shopping, etc. were all fantastic on the resort. Even the shops on site weren't that outrageously expensive. We had a fabulous time and we cannot wait to go back again!

Had the pleasure of staying at Couples Negril 5/13 thru 5/17/2013. Excellent experience! Yes, the water is THAT clean and blue! Above and beyond the best food service of any resort we have stayed at. Very nice room, comfortable bed, very nice air conditioning. The whole resort is clean and neat, someone is always cleaning, raking, buffing, and gardening. Great watersports too! What did it for us was the service. Everyone was nice, helpful and courteous! We came very close to a vacation disaster. When we exited Customs we found my spouse's suitcase but not mine. Air Tran rep not much help other than taking a report. Got to the resort and told them what had happened and they took the form the Air Tran rep had gave me and got to work on it. After a couple of hours they reported that someone had taken my suitcase by mistake but was unable to take it back to the airport. To make a long story short, Couples delivered my suitcase the next day fully intact! Thank you Couples Negril for an excellent vacation!

After a short wait at Couples private airport area complete with on tap beer and a one hour bus ride we arrived at the beautiful Couples resort. There is a brief champagne introduction and then a quick guided tour as you are led to your room. The rooms are a comfortable size, clean and offer great garden views but not many have any kind of beach view. The resort is aligned to offer guests more of a private setting and your not likely to spend much of your time in your room anyhow. Check out the watersport hut for a free catamaran cruises, snorkling (even if you can't swim), kayaking, scuba diving and much more. I recommend you do a quick hobie cat lesson first day and for the rest of your stay you can take these 4 person catamarans out as often as you like. The pool/swim up bar was impressive with the main pool area cascading into the lower bar area. Don't miss the bonfire night accompanied with a talented guitar soloist. Be sure to enjoy the Beach buffet and the Manager's coctail reception. Both offer an opportunity to share a table with other guests. Great for meeting people. There are plenty of other choices for more private dining but allow for some time on a waiting list when not eating buffet. Otaheite Fine Dining is the only restaurant where you need or can make a reservation. It offers the best food, service and most romantic setting. Be sure and make your reservation early. None of the other restaurants dissappoint either but you do have to pay attention to their schedules as not all are open every night. The beach itself is great with the best beach chair configuration I've ever seen. While the two piece chairs can at first be tricky to figure out they are quite comfortable. The thick foam pad on each chair is also great for lying back on to bob in the ocean. Although a word of caution. The current tends to drag you to the nude side of the beach. I've seen previous comments by nude sunbathers about "gawkers" but couldn't help but notice the nudists were the only people who stood knee deep in the water for extended periods of time. This is a beach people walk from one end to the other. "Gawker's" or "exhibitionist"? You decide. In any case this portion of the beach is avoidable if it offends you. There is a flag service for drinks offered on the beach and by the pool. If you enjoying your drinks on the beach you will be treated to a parade of local artists singing for tips. They are quite entertaining. The staff is naturally friendly throughout the resort. There is always something to do but it may require some planning. Pay attention to schedules. If all ypou want to do is relax, there are endless opportunities for that. The only negative is there is only two choices for beer or wine. Red stripe / red stripe light and the house wines were Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. All were good choices though.

This was our third time visiting Couples Negril. We love the beach, pool, food, drinks, rooms, and most of all, the service and atmosphere. We win multiple trips a year through work, and they're to really nice places, but Couples Negril beats them all - even though we have to pay to go there. We love that there is so much to do, and you can do it if you want to. If you don't, you can just hang out on the beach, put your flag up, and get drinks all day. The entertainment is first class.

We were at Couples Negril from 04/22/2013 through 05/02/2013. LOCATION: Spectacular. Negril is beautiful, the climate is perfect for relaxation, and Couples Negril is on a beautiful beach. BEACH: While technically the resort is on 7 mile beach, this resort only has access to 2 miles of it known as Bloody Bay. Bloody Bay is NOT as wide, deep or soft as what is more commonly known as 7 mile beach. You CANNOT walk to the longer part of the beach from Couples Negril because the connecting part the of the beach is designated as private and security guards told us we could not walk across it. So if you stay at Couples Negril, you are not on what everyone thinks of as 7 mile beach. The section of beach at the resort, however, is beautiful, as you can see in the photos. BUT BE ADVISED: THERE ARE NO PALAPAS OR UMBRELLAS ON THE BEACH AT COUPLES NEGRIL. If you want to lay on the beach at Couples Negril but not be in direct sunlight, you will have to squeeze in like a sardine with all the other people laying under the trees on the beach, and continually move the chair to protect yourself from the sun. Look at the pictures closely. There are NO palapas or umbrellas at Couples Negril beach. We asked if we could bring an umbrella from the pool down to the beach, and we were told we could not. And the resort offers no beach tents or other coverings. POOL: The main pool is nice, and the quiet pool is great until the scuba people come to clean up. There is a sign right next to the pool stating ?Quiet ? massage in progress? but when the scuba people come back and jump in the pool they makes lots of noise. Once they leave, though, peace and tranquility is restored. ROOMS: Rooms are acceptable. The beds are ok, not the most comfortable we?ve ever slept on but they are fine. The room is very clean and housekeeping does a good job except having to beg for soap. When we first got there, there was no soap in the room, so I asked a housekeeper who told me they didn?t have any, to wash my hands with the body lotion. I couldn?t believe how rude she was, so I called the front desk and they brought us a bar of soap. You do have to bring YOUR OWN conditioner, though, they have combo shampoo/conditioner in the shower. There is nothing too spectacular about the rooms, and close the bathroom windows when you are talking a shower, they are eye level and people walking by can look right in if you leave them open. MOSQUITOS: The mosquitos are epic. At other resorts, they provide mosquito wipes, light candles or torches, spray your ankles before dinner, or at least warn you not to sit at the outskirts, but not here. You are ON YOUR OWN, and I still have welts from the bites. Our last night we had to have our dinner wrapped up and brought it to the room because the mosquitos were so relentlessly attacking us. It was quite bad ? not as bad as Sandals Whitehouse, but close. FOOD: Breakfast is ok, they cook the eggs pretty runny, so if you want them cooked all the way you have to wait in the omelet line. Other than that, the buffet offers a lot and it is good. Lunch is great, the buffet is full, and the beach grill is amazing. The burgers at the beach bar are truly the BEST anywhere, and the jerk chicken is the BEST on the island. So, so, so good, you have to try it. And the bread at all the meals is so light and fluffy, we especially liked the coconut bread at the beach grill and all the dinner rolls. The O?Tahieti (sp) restaurant is one of the best at any al-inclusive we?ve been to. The downside of the food is that you have to work to find a steak, and you won?t get one every night if you are a man that wants a steak for dinner. But the meals were generally very good. MINI BARS IN THE ROOM: Couples Negril does not provide bottled water or Coke. SPA: The spa at Couples Negril does not have a sauna, steam room, or relaxing pool. GOLF: Hubby said he liked the course, LOVED the caddies, really enjoyed it. But, here the dire lack of customer service at the resort once again came into play. The course didn?t store my husband?s clubs, not all do, no big deal, so hubby had to bring them with him to the course each time. But resorts that we?ve been to in the past have either a) stored the clubs in bellhop storage at the lobby, or b) used a golf cart to bring hubby and clubs back to the room afterward. Did Couples Negril do either? No. When hubby asked, they told him they didn?t have room to store them, which is fine, if they don?t have room, then they don?t have it, but then he had to haul the clubs all the way back to our room on foot, THEN hike them up 2 flights of stairs to our room. I mean, really? He was offered the use of a rolling luggage cart, but not the golf cart that is used for the bellhops to take luggage back and forth to the rooms. Why? It seems they really don?t care. Once you pay Couples Negril, you have 0 refund if you cancel once you get there. I asked, they told me you have to cancel 15 days or more BEFORE you arrive. So think CAREFULLY before you book. Hubby hauled his clubs all around the resort and up and down the stairs. At least he got a good workout. GUEST RELATIONS: I would have to say that MOST employees were absolutely fantastic. Caswayne at the beach grill is a WONDERFUL employee. Melton and Jully Anne at the Haleconia Grill are GREAT waiters and knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. Also, there were some employees at guest relations who were very helpful. But oh my goodness there was one who acted like we were there for her convenience. When I first asked about going to the spa at Couples Swept Away to use the sauna and steam room, she told me I would have to pay for a cab both ways. I couldn?t believe it, when they have shuttles running back and forth all day long. I went back to the counter later (guest relations is by the swings) and there were other employees there, who were wonderful and kind and told me of course they would call the shuttle, just come down and ask. The other one, the mean one, also was very rude to both me and my husband one day. We went to make a reservation for dinner, and she was cleaning the counter. So we politely waited, she didn?t say ?just a moment? or anything, she just ignored us, and kept wiping the counter. So we waited, and when she was done, she walked back into the office behind the main desk in the lobby without saying a word. Not ?I?ll be right back? or ?how can I help you? or ?go fly a kite? even ? nothing. My husband and I just looked at each other and said ?Well, she must be coming right back, that was too rude to be believed.? But no, she didn?t. She went to clean other counters in the lobby, so we just left. We went back later when one of the nice employees were there. DRINKS: The drinks were GREAT. I love the bartenders. They make exceptionally good hummingbirds. Also, if you love water, go to the beach bar where they put fresh fruit in a ?sun tea? type of jar every day and you can get fruit flavored water that is just the most refreshing thing ever. SCUBA: We don?t scuba, but the other guests rave about it. It seems like they don?t charge very much, they have lockers on the beach, and it is POPULAR. Plus the scuba guys seem like a lot of fun. SUNSETS: The most beautiful we?ve ever seen. Love, love, love Negril. EXCURSIONS: They offer a LOT. Go to Times Square for the am shopping trip, that is fun and you?ll get some good bargains. The sunset catamaran is awesome, the church trip is great too (the only thing more beautiful than the island itself is the children that sing at church on Sunday at the catholic church up the street.) OTHER GUESTS: Everyone was so friendly, I love the clientele. We had so much fun with everybody, we really enjoyed meeting so many new people. 95% of them absolutely RAVE about the resort, so we didn?t share with them what we really thought, we didn?t want to rain on their parade. I?ve received some pretty nasty emails, however, from people on this site that disagree with my opinion of Couples Negril. Please don?t send me nasty emails for expressing my opinion. If you love Couples Negril, write your own review, don?t harass me about mine. SUMMATION: The beach and landscaping at Couples Negril are stunningly beautiful, truly world class. The food is good, the rooms are ok, and most employees are just wonderful. But it?s the little things that separate the good from the great. Couples Negril is good, but not great. It would be so easy for them to be great, and it wouldn?t cost them hardly anything. For example, why do you have to ask for soap? They should have it in the rooms. They need to refresh the paint in the main areas and keep the place cleaner. They should clean the circular staircase and use an upholstery cleaner on the cushions in the main lobby. They should either provide bug wipes, or train the hostesses at the outdoor restaurants to warn people not to sit at the outskirts of the restaurant. They should use the golf carts you have to bring the golfers with their clubs back to the room. It?s about training. It?s about providing a complete guest experience. The most important improvement they would have to make before we would ever go back is they need put some palapas or umbrellas on the beach, and update the spa.

I usually don't write online reviews, but I want people to know how great this resort is! This was our second time visiting Couples Negril. It is absolutely amazing. The food, drinks, service, location and weather were all great. There are tons of activities available, but if you want to do nothing that's fine too! Go see Karl, Steven, and Richard at the scuba shop- awesome guys! We are already planning our trip for next year!
