The People at Secrets made the rainy weather bearable!
My wife Cindy & I traveled to Secrets Playa Mujeres June 11-18, 2018. We were greeted, got the cold towel, quick check in (you get the picture) This was my wife's 2nd visit here but it was my first. We arrived between breakfast & lunch service. We decided to wait for Oceana, the seafood restaurant with a view of the beach, to open. There we met David. He started our stay off on the right foot. He was so pleasant and really welcomed us to the resort. He suggested a few dished to us (I am not a huge seafood fan, unless it's fried) I loved the fried shrimp tacos & the shrimp pizza. I wish we would have gone back so see him later in the week but there was so much to see.
Each morning we started our day with breakfast at the World Cafe. On our first day we were seated in Luis & Julio's section. They recognized us as new to the resort and welcomed us. The next day our hostess sat us in a different section and Luis seemed bummed out, so we made it our mission so sit in Luis & Julio's section every day after that.
When you stay at Secrets Playa Mujeres you have exchange privileges with Dreams Resort next store. We split our meals 50% at each resort. On the Secrets side we ate at Portifino (Italian), Seaside Grill (get the fried fish tacos for lunch, Himitsu (Hibachi & my personal favorite best show I've ever seen) And Bordeaux (French, went for dessert and coffee, Get the Creme' brulee I could have eaten two of them!)
On the Dreams side we ate at Maris (Seafood for lunch, see above comment on seafood), Gaucho (Brazilian Steakhouse), Fushion (Sushi), Tres Colores (Mexican, get the Ribeye Tacos, so good Ali our waiter brought me another order, Thanks Ali!) And last but not least L'Tiole (French) Alejandro our waiter had a Great sense of humor and was possibly the best waiter we ever had at our 10 plus All Inclusive's. He tried to steer me away from the chicken and I didn't listed. It is best to take his suggestions.
We arrived on Monday, It started raining on Tuesday afternoon and basically never stopped. You may ask "Why are you mentioning the weather at this point of your review." Because, I wanted to tell you about a couple people who were like sunshine on a cloudy day. Maria the waitress around the pool area. She was so attentive and never stopped. Johanna in the Coco Cafe always remembered my coffee order and always had a smile on her face. Everyone at the resort was pleasant and helpful and made our stay bearable even with all the rain. I would highly recommend this resort!
Brenda Jimenez with Executive Services with GBS made booking and planning my trip to Secrets Playa Mujeres so easy for me. Having never booked a trip to a resort, I wasn’t sure what to do or how to even go about it. She guided me through the process and even helped me figure out what excursions I wanted to go on. Thank you Brenda!!!
My family(7 of us) visited Secrets Playa Mujeres last week, what a awesome place and time we had! It was the first all-inclusive trip my wife and I have been on but won’t be the last. The entire experience was top notch from the first step on the property until our last minute we were there. The food, service, activities, entertainment staff, bartender, pool deck waiting staff were all wonderful. Juan is a cigar expert and the cigar class he lead was a great time and very educational. His knowledge help me made a decision on a few Cuban sticks to bring home.
The liquor selection at the bars were outstanding and the bartender very knowledgeable on different drink options. I would like to see a little better selection of beer, maybe a few more Mexican and American beers, but overall great bars.
I would definitely recommend Secrets Playa Mujeres to anyone and WILL be back again soon!
My sister & I stayed the week of June 3rd-8th and it exceeded our expectations. We were greeted with a nice clean cold towel & champagne at arrival. The check in process was quick. However, we arrived early & our room wasn't ready, but we kinda figured that. We had lunch & a few drinks & a chance to walk around and see where things were located. The resort and grounds are beautiful, clean & the views are absolutely breathtaking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was on the third floor of building three. We had a really great view, we did book Run of the House and had no idea what to expect and it worked out really well for us, we were pleasantly surprised. We spent all our time at the beach. The beach is awesome...white soft sand and beautiful blue water. There is such a small amount of seaweed, practically none all. If you are a beach person than this is the place for you. The service on the beach was phenomenal, we didn't even have to ask for a drink they just kept them coming!! Alex was our beach server and was the BEST ever! He was so great & personable! A shout to the rest of the staff at the Baracuda Beach Bar (David, Efrain, Evtisto & Angie) they were all great too. The drinks were all really good. They will make you anything you ask for!! The Sugar Reef Bar at the pool was also wonderful & so were the bar tenders. We had a really nice conversation with Tomas, he is really fantastic! He saw us when we were leaving and gave a gift, that was so sweet! The food was really good... the Barefoot Grill was great for an afternoon snack, we really enjoyed the Seaside Grill. The Market buffet for breakfast & lunch had a variety of options and you could definitely find something you would enjoy. Coco Cafe was the bomb, they had great desserts there! I would recommend checking out the Himitsu restaurant, that won't disappoint. It was a really nice option to be able to go over & check out Dreams next door, we did & liked it. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone I know. We definitely plan on coming back!!
I was hoping it would be good, and was very delighted that it was great
Listen, we all have had a questionable experience at those fly by night All-inclusive resorts, but this was great!
First off, there is one portion of the trip that was not 5 stars, and that was the food... but it was not horrible either. 3.5-4 stars solid on food. And I review a lot of restaurants. But if you go there to relax and can overcome that the food is not going to be an exceptional 5-star event, but better than most, then you will have a wonderful time.
I spend a lot of time and anxiety traveling after food items and typically, it is not as good as it was for the person that recommended I try it. And that usually leads to me experimenting with something else. But I did not have those expectations, based upon other reviews, but my intentions were to solely relax. And I hit the jackpot.
For the wife and I, was a wonderful trip at a mere 1 hour and 28 minute flight from Tampa, I will take it! Can't wait to go back!
Security, comfort and exclusivity all rolled int one very affordable package.
