Superb Seafood dinner, not part of all inclusive

I grew up in Cape May, NJ. Love almost all seafood and expect it to be fresh and simple. The dinner we had was superb. I was not part of all inclusive, but was less than 100$ for huge platter of seafood (Warm water lobster, Prawns-Langostino, Octopus, Shrimp, mussels, fish filet, calamari), also had 2 nice steaks, drinks, and nice tip. Was the highlight of our dinners there. Will be going as much as they offer next visit

A very nice upgrade

Being a return costumer has its advantages and we knew already how good Cayena is! We got a recently renewed suite which was simply perfect! 2 big beds, a sofá area and a bathroom with a huge shower! Everything perfectly new and very well decorated! I love the floor level accommodations since we can walk directly to the beach which is only a few steps away! Breakfast is very calm and you get a personal attention from everybody right after the second day; my "chinola" (passion-fruit) jam and juice were always ready the time I arrived! Love Cayena and will return next year!

My family and I stayed at this 'resort' and it was a huge disappointment. One thing that their website doesn't make clear is that there are two sides to the resort. The basic side where you get harassed 24/7. Then there's the exclusive side. Make sure those scammers put you where you paid to be. They claim you're gonna get moved to another room and blah blah blah.... But they probably wont. The resort is perfect for people who aren't bothered by being away from civilization. The resort advertises so many activities and things you can do. However, none of those things are on the basic side. My family and I stayed in Block 2 or 3 I can't be 100% sure. The room was supposed to be ocean view but you could barely see it. The wifi ONLY works in the lobby. All the tv channels were in Spanish. The breakfast was great. Lunch and dinner was kinda a struggle. It's supposed to be 'international' or whatever but if you're from America the food may be a bit different. The rooms were old and you can tell there had been cheap renovations done. Apparently, they don't have but 2 irons on the resort grounds, just a FYI. There's nothing fun to do at the resort. We spent a couple hundred dollars on excursions just so we could enjoy ourselves. One thing I can say is, there are like 100 bars with unlimited alcohol. If you're one to get hungry late at night, you'd better pack some snacks. The restaurants close about 9ish and the market is just too expensive. The pictures on the website are strictly from the exclusive side.(false advertisement) With all that being said, I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone. It's a rip-off and i'm certain you could find another nicer resort to stay at when coming to Punta Cana.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!

If you’re thinking of going to this resort think again and save your money!!! The rooms are way out date, the beaches are covered in seaweed. Not only do you have people bothering you trying to sell you things on the beach, they have people in face all day long on the resort. Not many activities included in your all inclusive. The ones offered are snorkeling on the beach which is rough, wavy and full of seaweed so you can’t see anything. The men on the resort that offer pay outta pocket excursions rip you off and charge way too much money and then try and push things on you that you don’t want. We were told if we bought a snorkeling package we would leave from the hotel on this nice jet boat, they changed it after we paid to a bus that took us 20 mins to our location, then get on a crap boat that took us to this area where there were people just docked drinking. So we said to the man aren’t we snorkeling, to which he replies yes you want to snorkel I’ll take you (isn’t that what this is???), he proceeds to take us to a place where they tell us we can swim w sharks and dolphins but have to pay an additional $40/PP each place, we say no we are good and have no additional cash and they won’t even let us look anymore and make us get on a boat that took us to another boat where we snorkeled for maybe 10 mins with masks that didn’t fit! The whole thing is a ripoff! And everyone is looking for tips on top of the money already paid and if you don’t tip you’re treated differently. Will never go back, it was so stressful, definitely not a vacation, especially one you should take your family on!!! Very disappointed and sad I wasted so much money for something that should have been a positive memory for myself and my family!!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESORT!!!

This resort SUCKS! First of all, this resort is nothing like the pics. The rooms are old and have old furniture. I booked through Apple Vacations (awesome agent) horrible agency. They charged me for an ocean view room only to tell me that type room wasn't available due to renovations. After being there a day and exploring the grounds. I go to building 5 next to the ocean and guess what, the building is full of guest. I complain to the resort and Apple. The day before I was scheduled to leave, they tell my agent they are going to put me in another room. No ma'am I'm not moving now, I want my refund and I want it ASAP. The next thing is there were probably 5 staff who could speak English. If you aren't fluent in other languages, you want to stay away. Vik has reps all over their grounds selling excursions. These people are in your face from the time you leave out your room. You could not even go to breakfast, lunch or dinner without these people begging you to book your excursion through them. The food was mediocre. The one restaurant that had shrimp, it came from a can. There was no other seafood on the grounds. The unlimited drinks were the cheapest brands of liquor on the market. Don't get me wrong, the grounds were beautiful. Someone was climbing trees and cutting coconuts and dead leaves every day. The pool area was nice. The beach was ok, it was full of seaweed which made me uncomfortable getting in it so I only put my feet in the water. The only fun we did have was going on excursions that we had to pay out of pocket for which was the opposite of what we expected from this resort. The market on the grounds is very expensive. The one positive thing is the young man who is a Bellboy, I forgot his name but he was the most friendly, respectful young man there. He spoke fluent English and is an Engineering Student. If you like fun and entertainment in a resort, this is not the one. The resort is a lie and so many people there while we were there complained about the same things. I hope that these negative reviews will spark a change in them. Again, this was a very disappointing vacation and I wouldn't go back there if it was free. BTW: the nice side of Vik Cayena is the private, timeshare resort. Most of the pics online is from the private side. So of course reps are walking around in your space and face, trying to convince you to sign up for a meeting to get a free week to stay. It's a NO for me..
