Apple Vacations Traveller Reviews
Dreams Palm Beach.
Overall hotel was very clean. Food was far superior to resort we stayed at in Cancun. Bar service was a bit slow and drinks were very inconsistent - we would order exact same drink and it looked and tasted totally different. We were very disappointed with pool activities and evening entertainment. We had so much fun participating in and watching pool activities at resort in Cancun. The night club was BORING. Very few people mainly due to music - music was totally geared to local 20 year old population. Crowd was a mixture of ages so music should be. A lot of people went to night club and left after 30 min or so. Hotel was very clean and food was decent. Buffet was far superior to what we were expecting. Beach has seaweed. They did try to manage it but it was still an issue. I would recommend this resort IFF you are not interested in pool games and night time entertainment.
we will not be returning to this resort and won't recommend
we had such good experiences with different resorts in Punta Cana provided by Apple vacation but we will not be returning to this resort and won't recommend this one. So poor and bad services...sorry
Beautiful Hotel with Terrible Food
The hotel itself is beautiful, the pools and beach were nice. It was an issue finding a beach chair by any of the main pools. WE had to stick to the small preferred club pool. The Entertainment team did a dod job in their nightly performances but unless you were a child there was not much entertainment any other time. The pools close at 7 pm which is way too early and leaves you with nothing to do for hours. The food quality was terrible and we were hungry half the time because there just wasn't any quality food to eat and beware of eating any meat due to the unsanitary ways it's handled. The staff were very nice and did their best. The rooms were always very clean. The last few days though we could barely go outside due to a horrific smell coming from the beach area, rotting seaweed and dead fish smell. It was so bad, it made you double over and gag. I would say it's more of a 3 star hotel. The flights were awful and I would never book another trip that used Frontier as the airline.
I was a little disappointed with the beach. Litter all over the place. My nightmare of a complaint was the information I received at the front desk when the gentleman hooked my phone up to their wi/fi. He told me and it also said in the pamphlet that I received that I could make calls free of charge to the U.S. Wrong!!! I came home to a $399.61 bill just for roaming charges. I was and am still not happy about that.
The Real Opinion
First: Apple Vacations - I must say that they made a mistake with my airfare when adding infant in lap and tried to charge me a lot more than I was quoted (after I already paid for everything else) but after I complained and asked them to go back to the recorded conversation from the first time when I was quoted less, they did and called me back and honored what they first promised. I appreciate the honesty of the company and all other experience with them was good (transportation to the hotel and back to the airport etc)
Hotel: everything was absolutely great (specially staff - very helpful and friendly - my favorite was Odry), resort was beautiful, spa was 100% worth the money (and I am not easy to please when it comes to massages and environment), food was good (I did not go to the restaurants, only seaside grill, which was nice), a lot to choose from, beach sand was really nice but beach sucked (dirty water, not very picturesque, and small), however, pools made up for it (nice and clean). The worst about my overall experience was the hotel room. Very outdated furniture (and I paid for nicer room), not a good quality, musty smell, AC did not work based on how you set it, and floor tiles were very slippery. My 16 months old fell several times and I just could not relax in the room. Cleaning staff was there regularly and kept the fridge stocked too but the management should really consider investing in overall room remodeling. If they remodel rooms, I would definitely consider coming back
Dreams Palm Beach 2018
Our stay at Dreams started out very rough. We were checked in and got our room to find it was not up to the standard of what we expected or paid for. The room had a leak by the light in the bathroom and the faucet in the sink would not turn off the water unless it was a special turn and still had a steady flow, the room had little bugs also. The overall apprearance of the room was very disappointing. We told the Preferred club person the issues they sent maintenance and didn't not help anything and they said they had no rooms available to us to change room til the following day.(this person in preferred on 6/2/18 was not friendly or helpful in any way) we had to demand talking to a manager! Once we got with a manager and they saw the room it was agreed it was in need of repair. We were offered another room that was totally remodeled and in perfect condition. The Manager on staff that night was very nice and wanted us to be happy with our relocation. Isabel the manager at the hotel was very nice and apologized the next day and offered many things to make up for the error and inconvience. Once we moved rooms and worked out the issues the rest of the stay was wonderful.. The resort is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. Would go back to this resort if I could skip the first day of the room mishap. I would say that it is not mentioned anywhere that Punta Cana is on the Atlantic side and the water is not blue. It was dirty with seaweed and never blue. To get blue water you have to be on Carribean side. Overall we would go back!
Not exactly the luxury vacation I envisioned
Overall, my stay at the hotel was good! Service was good, and food was overall very good. My main criticisms:
1) the beach had a lot of seaweed and the area was small
2) the food was almost never hot; either cold or lukewarm
3) the room beds were small if 2 people had to share
4) the room bathroom needs upgrading; the water pressure in the shower was so weak, and I didn't like how there was no door or curtain to the shower so water came out on the floor easily
5) 12 mosquitoes in our hotel room during our 7 day stay; it was a huge inconvenience
6) when we checked in at the preferred club lounge, we were pushed hard to sign up for the welcome breakfast and orientation -- aka timeshare. we refused. they claimed they were not timeshare, but we saw the salespeople at the world cafe talking to people and essentially they're selling you the same thing and earn commission.
everything else was fine. the service was overall excellent; only a few people at check-in or some waiters were not so friendly and helpful.
Not worth the money
I was thinking that preferred service was going to be something special. There were a few things that our party of 6 encountered that ruined our experience.
Orlando- when we got to the resort he asked us to come to a presentation that we would be told was 90 minutes. That we could leave before the 90 minutes was up just donít tell anyone that he told us that we could leave. There was no way anyone couldíve left the meetings that they hold. He completely lied to us about everything. We stayed the 90 minutes because thatís all that you can do. We were given the ďbucksĒ to use for a beach dinner. The dinner was for our complete party. The food was mediocre at best. Orlando told our group that it would be $49 total and that the bucks would cover it. Which at check out we were informed of the true cost. At 4:30am and you have to leave at 4:50 am for your flight you pay $49 per couple three times. Then we were given a coupon book and were told we could use it at the spa for any service. Another lie when we went to pay for four services at the spa.
Spa- when I made the appointments for my daughter and I at the spa I told the receptionist I wanted two 25 minutes massages and the feet fish. When my daughter and I got to our appointment we were told our coupons couldnít be used at all. I was completely upset with the amount of money we were already spending for the resort and services and then told we couldnít use a $10 coupon. After a great massage we were taken downstairs and told we could swim in the spa pools. Unfortunately no one told us to bring our suits to the appointment. At the end of our appointment the receptionist told me she wanted to give us a 10% discount which was nice.
Bars- the swim up bar was great in the big pool and the service for the most part was good. The waiters would come up and get orders but then they would not bring you a drink after waiting for one for over an hour. At this point our party would go get our own drinks. The drinks were watered down but for all inclusive what can you expect.
Beach- the pictures online were beautiful unfortunately nothing about the beaches are like the pictures. The seaweed is so bad that you canít swim in it. The color of the water near the resort are dark and not the beautiful turquoise.
Preferred- when we got to the resort I informed two people in the preferred room that the 31st was my husbands birthday and I wanted to have a small cake or something for him. I was told no problem it would come on the day of his birthday in the afternoon amenities. We were never given a cake or anything else for his special day from the preferred people. Whatís the point of preferred? The one day I request something and actually I asked twice to make sure that it would happen. Unfortunately the preferred service wasnít worth it.
Restaurants- we were told by our travel agent that we could go into any restaurant as dress casual. The men could wear knee length khaki pants and dress shirts. The women could wear dresses. When we got there we were told that wasnít true. So that meant we could only eat at two restaurants. That was a huge let down.
The one great part of the restaurant The Worlds restaurant was our waiter Junior was amazing. When we went to the cafe on my husbands birthday I asked Junior if he could do something during dinner for his birthday. He told me not to worry about it he would take care of it. After eating he and a few workers came out and sang happy birthday to my husband with a small cake. If it wasnít for workers like him, my husbands special day wouldíve been ruined.
Rooms- the two rooms on the 3rd floor were decent rooms the air conditioner didnít really work but I could get passed that. The room on the 1st floor was so completely disappointing. The first night there my daughter was bitten over ten times during the night as she slept. So the next day we go into her room and kill mosquitoes that night we killed over 20. So the next morning we go down to the preferred area and talk to receptionist. The lady told me that itís a tropical island and itís to be expected what did I want her to do. I was completely shocked by her response. I asked if she could send someone to spray the room. After 9:00pm that night someone knocks on the door with an can of bug spray. My mother in law who was also staying in that room told them she was in bed and they could come back during the day. While in the room my daughter got over 28 mosquito bites on her body. Thatís with her sleeping with a long sleeve shirt to help keep her arms covered during the night. I was told by a friend who stays in the Dream resorts that the resorts normally spray every day for mosquitoes. Why wasnít that done at ours?
To think our party of six spent almost $10,000 US dollars to come to Dreams Punta Cana resort and we were disappointed. This trip was a graduation gift for my daughter for graduating with honors and a 4.0 gpa. It was also for my husbands birthday and our anniversary. This was also the first time my mother in law has ever left the country. This was suppose to be an amazing trip and it wasnít.
Best little getaway
Overall, this is one of the best resorts for fun and relaxation. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and everyone is so friendly. If you want to just go lay by the pool or beach, you can do that all day long. Or if you want to partake in any activities with the entertainment team, they really know how to have fun. Gavi and his team are so great. They have planned the best activities. I would go back to this resort just for the entertainment and how much fun we had. Jose at the swim-up bar is amazing. Makes literally the best drinks. Sitting poolside, Ambiorix will run over with any drinks you need. You have to check out excursions with Benson. He is so great with explaining everything and his recommendations. You have to go see Richard in the World Cafe. So fun and energetic. Dreams, you are really doing a great job of making everyone feel welcome and having great staff to take care of your guests. This was my second time to this resort and I will be coming back soon.
Overall the hotel was great. Everything was well taken care of. The staff was decently friendly. They like you a lot more if you can speak a little Spanish. The beach had lots of trees so there was a good amount of shade. Beach was pretty seaweedy, but they were cleaning it up every day. The drinks were good. Donít be afraid to ask for the better liquor. The food was ok. It was edible but nothing was really amazing. We did enjoy the coffee shop every morning tho. The entertainment seemed pretty good. Itís not something that we really participated in or cared to. We did check out the casino and the discoteca, it was very outdated and small. That could use improvements. The cleaning service was great. They also came by for turn down service at night. Overall good experience!
First vacation in 4 years of marriage.
My wife and I have never been on a vacation or a honeymoon and we decided it was finally time, so we booked this all inclusive vacation through Apple. We read a thousand reviews for many different hotels and finally just picked one. If you are a person who looks for absolute perfection in EVERYTHING, you won't be happy here. However, if you are looking for a great place to simply get away, then this is a great place to go. We loved the variety of restaurants, some were better than others. We upgraded to the preferred club, which allowed us access to two additional pools and restaurants at lunch time. We did this upgrade for two reasons, one, the jacuzzi bathtub is a requirement for my wife. Unfortunately, it took 49 minutes to fill the tub, which sort of killed the vibe for a relaxing bath. The second reason was for the hors d'oeuvrs that were to be offered between meals. I am a retired chef and we consider ourselves sort of spoiled when it comes to food, so the hors d'oeuvrs didn't quite meet our expectations. Other than that we loved the hotel and how clean it was, everyone was "excellente" all the time and friendly. Our only big complaint is that a charter airline had been used, Swift and it caused us great grief. Our initial flight was delayed two hours, however, we were not sent an email or notice despite the company knowing the night prior. Then once we finally boarded, there was a mechanical failure with the air conditioning. We were grounded for an hour on the plane without A/C, it was a bit hot to say the least. So by time our flight left, we should have been landing in Punta Cana. Then on the way home, again our flight was delayed. I would simply suggest that if you have a choice don't use Swift Airlines. At the end of it all, we will use Apple again and likely stay at a relative hotel to this one simply so we can visit other countries.

The staff here were superb.
But they are very persuasive about their upgrades.
We up graded to their premier area which gave us exclusive use of 2 pools and a breakfast restaurant which we made full use of.
People were leaving towels on sunbeds ... but the life guard would move them after so long.
The beach is nice but not the best.
Evening entertainment was really good.
Be prepared for locals selling their wares on the beach and also a local market set up in hotel grounds once a week.
Choice of 7 restaurants. Good food.
No elevators... so expect to climb maybe 3 flights of stairs..
All in all a good relaxing holiday..
Emilio is Excellenteeee
What a great experience at this hotel. Our host Emilio over at the pool bar made sure we had a great time and always made sure our drinks were full. If you're thinking of a trip to Punta Cana, choose Dreams Palm Beach
We have just returned from our 8 nights' vacation in Dreams Palm Beach. The check-in was about 40 minutes. We were greeted with wet towels and champagne. The rooms need renovation. They are advertised as deluxe but there was nothing deluxe in them. It was clean. The resort is beautiful and very well kept. The staff is friendly and caring. Food is good. Fresh juices, smoothies, fish and sea food all the time, sushi very often, abundance of tropical fruits. We visited the Seaside grill and it was good. The pools were pleasant although sometimes there were leaves, lemons /from the cocktails/ and other rubbish. The wifi is mostly good throughout the resort. We had a wedding anniversary and we received a bottle of champagne and some sweets as a compliment. The drinks and especially the cocktails were wonderful - Pina colada and Dirty monkey were our favourite. The beach however was full of seaweed. So much that water looked brown and green. That is the biggest minus - although it is not hotel's fault. We went to Saona island with a vendor from the beach called Ray. He offered it for 65 dollars/person. Everything was as described and we had a great time. For the transfers to/from the airport we used Shopy tours who were very punctual ans correct. In conclusion, we had a wonderful time and memories.
Dreams palm beach punta cana
The resort is nice with an excellent staff. We stayed preferred. I highly recommend paying the extra money for preferred. The adults only pool is where we spent all of our time as the beach is full of seaweed and very smelly right now. Carlos Alfredo, Mario, and Emilo made our stay amazing. They were very kind and attentive. We would come back just to see them again.
Excellent Resort, Great Service, & Awesome Staff
We had a great vacation. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and always looking to make your vacation excellent. The food was great as well. We’ve stayed at many all-inclusive resorts where the food was ok, but this was top notch. The layout of the resort was easy to navigate and it wasn’t overly crowded. Great for families or couples.
Oscar, our concierge, was helpful and always checking to make sure we had everything we needed.
Junior, our awesome waiter at the World Cafe made each meal fun and exciting. He always made certain our days started with a smile.
We would definitely return.
