The food was horrible but the service and hotel was great.
The beach was disgusting and full of seaweed, the lights and water kept going out, 3 of the 4 alla carts restaurants that we paid to have access to were closed during our stay, the pools closed super early and the quality of liquor at the bars were poor.
Jesus & Sonja are the bbest
Check in was horrible took us 4 times waiting in line for our room to be ready. Had to change rooms, due to no air in the first room and the second room was not much better. Little air and a horrible mildew smell. Was told it was all the room but it wasn't had friends and family in other rooms and their room were perfectly fine. Loved the beach bar Sonja & Jesus was the greatest. Treating us like family knowing what drinks we liked and always making sure we had a table to hang out at.
Nice to look at
The pictures don't really represent what the average vacationer will get. The cabanas are for VIP only. The rooms are out dated. It was a nice experience but more so because we had great company. Each couple had issues with their room. Issues with staff. Plumbing issues. We were told to move out things out of our room and we would be transfered to another room 3 hrs later. Which was ridiculous to be without a room mid day in that heat. A person opened our door without knocking whatsoever while I was in the shower and my husband was in bed. Our room was at the edge of the property which was adjacent to a home so we had dogs barking, roosters cock a dooing. The vendors are pushy. The time share people basically kidnap you. They escort you to set up your transportation then deliver you to someone to listen about a time share. I went along not thinking I had a choice in the matter. Admittedly, I enjoyed my time with them but did not purchase a vacation package. But, they are relentless in their efforts to trap vacationers. It's annoying at best. My next resort would have to have no solicitors. The buffet and the steak house provided the best meals. The other restaurants we visited were not great. Fortunately our reservation was early enough to hit the buffet after. It wasn't a horrible vacation but it could have been better.
Not what I expected or what I was looking for.
After reading reveiws about the hotel, I was a little worried. It wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been. But it wasn't what I thought I paid for. I was turned off after staying at this hotel. For all inclusive, I expected more. This was a lower all inclusive hotel, that you have to pay more to get a VIP service. Why pay more? I already paid for an all inclusive stay, and felt like I was at a low brow hotel. Not at all what I expected.
My experience at Be Live
First off it took over 2 hours to check in! That is ridiculous. There were a ton of people helped while I waited. When I finally get to my room it smells horrible and the door handle comes off in my hand every time I try to leave the room. The room was not up dated.
The food however was excellent in the buffet and in the restaurant the drinks were good. That staff was good. The front desk staff not so much. The guest service desk did finally help me get a new room days in after continually complaints.
Great vacation but avoid the casino
We went to play in the casino our 2nd night there. I was playing Texas Hold em and was winning by a decent amount. I decided I had enough and got up to cash out. The casino staff PHYSICALLY would not me leave. They told me I had to keep playing. After arguing to no avail, I sat back down. I tried to just fold out hoping they would let me leave, but they again insisted that I play my hands. At this point my wife who was behind me was getting nervous, and quite frankly a little scared. I ended up leaving with NOTHING. Once I busted out, they let me leave. Whatever you do, do not play there. I went from having some nice change in my pocket, making it an even better vacation, to being down money. Terrible experience.
room in disrepair
Air conditioning barely worked had to wait 30 minutes between toilet flushing ceiling fan didn't work only hot, hot water for shower and sink
Vip or low class up to you
they push you on a upgrade to vip, if not it was like coming to a place where you were treated like low class. we had fun but dont like places that if your not VIP then you are not good as in low class. You did not upgrade you did not pay you dont get.....
Do not stay here!
We were less than impressed when we arrived. No one explained anything or gave a tour. Basically we were ushered to our room. Upon arriving the room was uncomfortably warm which is what it stayed the entire trip even after multiple requests to have the a/c looked at. There was a hamburger with bugs left in the non-functioning safe which made me question the cleanliness of the room. The cleaning ladies never changed the sheets only made the bed and only gave us new towels if the old ones were soaked. Most of the staff was unfriendly and gave us the run around if we had questions.
Horrible is the only word that comes to mind

Most honest review you’ll read about BeLive
I visited Be Live January 11-19 with my 2.5 year old and 60 year old mother, I am 31.
We’re relatively easy going people, booked the trip last minute (few days before) and we were just looking to get out of the cold.
We booked the family suite ocean view which is supposed to be they’re highest classed room that is not adults only.
1) Rooms: the rooms are very dated. We didn’t really care about that too much. They were nice. Not awesome but OK. The view was nice overlooking the ocean. The issue with the rooms is they are SO LOUD. Our room was 5328 you can hear everything from the room next door, the hallways and outside. Honestly it felt like people were talking right beside my head when they were in the hallway even talking at a normal taking voice. It was honestly awful. Had the worst sleeps of my life. Bring ear plugs.
2) Food: we enjoyed the food! The a la cartes were great. We never ate at the regular buffet so I can’t comment on it. The VIP buffet was great! We always enjoyed everything we ate.
3) Beach: average. I’ve been to DR a few times it’s the worst beach I’ve been on in the DR. The water is cloudy due to all of the boats around kicking up the sand. You cannot see the bottom and the water is not blue it is brown. I got pinched by a crab on my toe (very painful)
4) Pools: the VIP family pool needs a overhaul. It’s nice to have a private place to go but it is very dated. The big pool was nice had an area for my 2.5 to walk into, lots going on, and fun.
5)VIP: I’m glad I had VIP for sure. They serve champagne only in the VIP area, and all the alcohols were better brands. The VIP better together lounge was nice, needs some updating. Leo out concierge was great always ensured we had champagne in the room, milk for my son and if we had any issues he was on it
6) Staff: the staff that we interacted with were all amazing!!! Rossanna is absolutely incredible and helped with all concerns. The security on the beach (although they don’t speak English) were great. The waiters and bartenders were also great. Guys, you need to TIP. I spent about $40 a day in tips and everyone was always happy to see us, made sure we always had what we needed, even brought us drinks when we didn’t order. You want good service? Tip... period.
Overall: I wouldn’t return to this resort because I think that there are much nicer resorts in DR. It left much to be desired. They need to do a lot of work in updating the resort and fixing the issue with the rooms. The people and food are the reason for the 3*
Beautiful January Temperatures
The Be Live Collections Resort is no doubt a beautiful resort. The food on the other hand is Cuba quality. We had a beautiful swim up room at the far end of the resort ( a long walk to the main buffet). The room was achieved because the original room had a odor of raw sewage, so for a few more dollars we upgraded. The advertise a bunch of bars however there is really only one open after 6 pm which can get very crowded, especially if you get a little rain. Bavaro Beach is ranked as one of the 50 best in the world and it is beautiful but many of the lounge chairs on the beach are in disrepair or simply broken. The number one reason we would not go back to this resort is the Time Share Sharks. They are absolutely relentless and harass the resort guests like, feeding sharks.
This hotel is nice but the food is not the greatest the rooms are a good size but needs improvement on the cleanliness the disco was very smelly and gross !!! Hopefully this helps I wish someone would have warned me about some of these things
Amazing Christmas Vacation
We visited this resort from December 20th. to the 27th. We arrived at the hotel around 9 pm. and had a very quick check in along with a welcome drink. We had enough time to get checked in, go to our room, change clothes and still get to the buffet before closing time. We did not upgrade to VIP.
We stayed in block 12 and our room was very clean and beds were comfortable. It was a short walk from there to the beach and pool area. ( There was a pool, separate from the main pool, only a few steps form our room. There was also a bar that wasn’t nearly as busy as the one at the main pool.)
Beach: We found the beach area to be very clean. The beach was cleaned each morning. Workers would also walk through during the day to pick up any litter. Each afternoon, while we were there, a tractor would drive along the beach and workers would clean up any seaweed and put it on a wagon. We never had a problem getting a shady spot even if we went later in the morning. (After 10 am)
As mentioned in other posts there are vendors on the beach. We found that if you told them you weren’t interested but thanks for asking, they left you alone. We saw the same vendors everyday and found them to be friendly and not pushy once they knew you weren’t interested. This was also true of the workers selling the timeshares.
Food: We were very impressed with the food. There is lots of variety at the buffet. For breakfast eggs to order and a variety of other foods such as made to order pancakes, variety of sausages, bacon, cheeses, breads, smoothies, as well as some local dishes. Lots to choose from. We always found the service to be excellent. When we would arrive back at our table, after picking up our food, coffee was already poured.
We didn’t eat lunch often at the buffet, as most days they had a special lunch on the beach, along with drinks. We enjoyed the paella and homemade Dominican soup. We also ate from the burger joint on the beach.
Most nights we went to the specialty restaurants. Our favorite was the Asian. You sat at a table with a small group of people while the chef cooked and entertained you. There was a good variety of food cooked on the grill that included rice, seafood, vegetables, chicken and beef.
We also enjoyed the Mediterranean, Steak House, and Brazilian (especially if you are a meat lover). Service at all restaurants was excellent. They were always checking to see if you had enough wine or beer. Staff was very friendly.
We didn’t go to the seafood restaurant as we come from an area that always has fresh seafood.
We did try the Mexican restaurant but were not fond of it. I guess it is a personal preference as we met a couple that told us how much they enjoyed it.
Christmas Eve Dinner: Amazing. You were greeted with a glass of champagne. Service was top notch. Our waiter was very friendly and looked after us and kept our water and wine glasses full. There was something for everyone. There was a small dory filled with different types and sizes of shrimp and crab.
Carving centers included turkey, roast beef, Italian prosciutto, and someone to pass out lobster. There was every type of meat, side dishes, sides, cheeses, breads deserts etc. to choose from.
On Christmas day there were lots of activities at the beach including a visit from Santa. Children were invited to come up to see Santa and were given a gift for their age group. Nice touch
Wifi: There was no problem with Wi-Fi if you were in the main bar area. We had no problem logging on, the connection was quite good, and it was free. You do have to pay if you want to log on anywhere else on the resort. We didn’t find going to the main bar area an inconvenience to us.
Staff: The staff were so friendly and helpful. You were always greeted with a smile and you felt that they truly enjoyed their job. They worked from early morning till late at night and made a point to say hello, let you know what is going on and invite you to participate in activities. There were plenty of activities at the beach and pool area all day long as well as some live entertainment and dancing at the main bar area each night before the nightly show.
We were to several shows and enjoyed them.
Overall we had a great time and are considering going back for Christmas next year.
Just returned home
Just returned home from Be Live Collection Punta Cana after 7 days. To sum it up...absolutely one of the best vacation destinations ever. We touched bases with "Rosanna" via Tripadvisor msg. regarding this property along with signing up for the VIP status. Rosanna was wonderful to accommodate our wishes. Victor & Rosanna couldn't do enough for us. All the staff was so accommodating & genuinely friendly, not just the "I have to smile & be nice"....actually genuinely concerned regarding our stay or needs. Having access to the private VIP beach was worth it, however the guys in the tan shirts can drive you nuts just wanting to upsell you vocational time shares, but we would make a run for it every morning passing them during breakfast @ the buffet restaurant. They are pushy but pleasant. The food at this resort is fantastic no matter what your desires. They even have a snack bar open all hours of the night with burgers, fries, southern style chicken wings that are to die for. There are bars all over the resort. The only time we had to get in line for a drink was in the evening at the main pool bar, other than that it was just a walkup. They have pretty much any drink you want within reason & being the good stuff....lol. The whole resort is exceptionally spotless. Staff cleaning all the time, be inside or outside. The beach is super fine white sand. The lounge chairs on the beach are plentiful & comfortable. We will certainly be returning next year, same time, the same way, talking with Rosanna first to arrange our stay. Rosanna answers your emails within a day. Good or bad, she does get back to you & can't do enough for you. It really is a beautiful resort. Weather was perfect, even when you would have a short down pour, which I call liquid sunshine. We stayed in the adults only section. The rooms can be a bit noisy with slamming doors in the hall ways, but no big deal. If you don't mind party noise late night, then staying by the main pool is good. We stayed in building 3,... away from "party central", & much of the late night noise. I simply can't say enough about this resort. In all honesty, we had NO bad experiences @ any time during our week. Now that's a first. Thank you much Rosanna, Victor, & the rest of the staff for a super fantastic week with you. See you next year & yes Rosanna, we'll stay in touch......Bobby & Andrea from Canada.
