By far, best hotel we've ever stayed at! Everyone was beyond friendly and went out of their way to get whatever you want. Food was a little disappointing, but in all fairness, I didn't get to try all of the restaurants. Would definietly go back and highly recommend. Only complaint was the shower. It constantly went from scolding hot to ice cold the entire trip. Painful and annoying, but not the end of the world. Hard to complain when you are being pampered every other way in paradise!
Our Second Time Back This Year!
Everything was just as wonderful as we remember. We even had some familiar faces remember us! Our butler Gonzolo was the same from last tame and just as awesome, he even decorated our room for my boyfriends 50th birthday. We missed having Victor as well since he was in the main building this trip but we saw him going to dinner all the time. Daniel and Gustavo the bartenders in the lobby were also wonderful familiar faces to see. Alejandro was also great! He even ran all the way to another bar the get the wine I prefer instead of just saying they were out. Rigiberto although not always understanding English was still great, him and Norberto made a great pool bartender team. Ivan and Oscar were entertaining as always and Alejander (the new guy) was awesome too. Even kept a smile after being covered in sand by the other 2!! Christian is the BEST "Mexican Limo" Golf Cart driver. And last but not least is Alan at the front desk! He is a true staple in the organization and even though we were sad his Girlfriend our former concierge was gone he still made us feel right at home, like a part of the family!
Keep up the good work everyone!
And Olivia, keep making awesome food it is always so great to see her at breakfast and again at dinner.
-See you soon, Calvin & Kelsey
Iberostar Grand Pariaso is indeed Grand!
This resort is beautiful! The food is incredible! Every staff member we meet was very friendly and accommodating. Our only negative is the sales pitch we agreed to sit through in order to get a free massage... we won't do that again.
Our travel agent who sells Apple Vacations, excellent! Beautiful property, starting to show some wear. Apple representative at our hotel was poor. Had an attitude: He needs to change jobs. Excellent food, excellent service. Will return and use Karen to book!
Very happy honeymooners!
We were very impressed with how friendly all the staff was and how clean everything was. We felt very well taken care of and spoiled
Many issues this trip
Too many issues with airport transfer and instead of a van like we always get for non stop we were placed on bus and sat and waited 70 min at airport before leaving. Hotel was such low occupancy during a busy time is was eery. Only 2 out of 5 restaurants were open each night, reservations couldn't be changed/made for our last night, although open restaurants were dead. Will not be going back here and likely will not use Apple after the airport debacle and the attitude of Apple staff at the Cancun airport.
From the airport check in process, hotel, meals, bars, pools, butlers, maids, ets... our expectations were exceeded by far. The staff knew our names, knew our likes and tastes and were extremely pleasant at all times. Would recommend The Grand to anyone and I can't wait to go back. Best trip ever..
Needs more bars, entertainment started to late. Excellent that they took reservations for dinner.
So much about this vacation was terrific, but it was marred by the never ending tipping of the staff. They looked for ways to do something for us, even if we refused, and expected a gratuity. We had to hit the ATM three times during our stay.
Hotel has regressed from new to 'fixed up' since our first stay, is due for a major refresh, as are most of the hotels in the area.
Vacation done right
Iberostar grand pariso maya no need to go anywhere else.

Luxurious and relaxing
By far the best service! The food is delicious, drinks are high quality, and the pools are gorgeous. Emilio was the most attentive waiter we had-professional and hardworking. The beach concierge Santiago was also superb!
Almost 5 stars but not quite there
I will start by saying I would rate tThe Grand hotel 4.5. My husband & I, plus my mother in law traveled to The Grand from 5/1 - 5/16.
I will start with the Pros. - excellent staff everyone of them, hardworking, genuinely nice staff. Please tip these workers not mandatory but it would be nice a dollar here & there. These workers work long hours & do not make a lot of money. Hotel & Grounds are beautiful & kept immaculate and that includes the rooms. Housekeeping was great our rooms were always cleaned by 11am everyday & turn down every night by 7:30p. Food was good, we especially enjoyed Toni's & Haiku both very good. Breakfast buffet & dinner buffet was also good, we had Diego in the morning, and Edwin at the evening buffet both excellent servers & great personalities!
Spa - had my first massage ever with Alejandra, She's excellent, gentle but firm. Great massage had a excellent experience! Beautiful Spa atmosphere, the oils they use smell heavenly, they use the same oils throughout the hotel & bathrooms in clay diffusers. They sell them at the bigger Spa in the plaza mall. I purchased them l
for my diffuser at home. They smell so good.
Entertainment team - very nice, sweet group. Ivan, Karen, and my Cuban dancer girl ( I called her that this young lady can salsa like no one else, - she is quite the dancer) unfortunately can't remember her name but what a personable, beautiful young lady definitely has the gift of gab. They are all work hard & look like they love their jobs! Great team.
Ok, cons - reservation system is a pain, it really takes away from your vacation. You have to constantly be worrying about trying to make a reservation & you have to make it way ahead of time or what you get offered is the 8:45p slot which is way too late for us, we are early birds. I booked three restaurants dates prior to arriving which was fine but then had to try to book for the next few days once we arrived. We ended up doing dinner buffet many nights. We spoke to other people at the hotel that felt the same way, not sure why Iberostars are holding on to this system, when clearly the customers are not happy with it. We have gone to bigger 5 star all inclusive resorts that don't require this reservation system. You just go when you are ready to eat and of course if you eat later in evening you may wait 15 min for a table which is fine. In our cas, we get there when it opens, normally by 6:30p & we always get seated right away. I feel if this reservation system takes away from having a relaxing care free vacation. I believe your customers would be a lot happier without this system.
Another issue - they aren't very consistent when it comes to gluten free diets, my mother in law is gluten free. In the am buffet they would have gluten free breads, cookies but at lunch & dinner buffets it would be all put away. Many of the servers were not 100% familiar with what gluten free is. We encountered one server at the Italian restaurant that was excellent, he was well versed on the gluten free diet. He made my mother in law feel so comfortable about her dietary needs we wish more were like him. On other occasions , we had to ask constantly if they had any gluten free desserts at dinner time at buffet. One night at dinner buffet it was Italian night and thank god for our server Edwin, he remembered from the night prior & said he would ask the chef to make my mother in law gluten free pasta. They did make it but we waited almost 20 min for it. I think with this dietary issue so many people are now being affected this hotel should be more fully trained & consistent with the foods available.
Other than those few issues the hotel is really a gem, the workers make this hotel! The only reason I wouldn't return is because of the beach & of course this is no fault of the hotel. We just love walking the beach & they don't have much of a beach, the stretch of the beach they have is very rocky & the flag is red most of the time, it seems this area has very heavy currents mist of the time.
Excellent first time trip
This was my first time to an Iberostar property and glad we started with the Grand. We did so after reading the great reviews on TA.
I wanted to thank everyone here and on the forums for such detailed reviews and information. I felt like a pro.
The pool and view to the ocean along with the wonderful breeze is really the postcard moment of the place.
However - there are many other highlights including the Mixology Bar, little sandwiches in lobby bar and great room service along with a + staff.
We made our reservations in advance via email (thanks for that tip!) and were overall pleased with the food. Highlight was the jerk chicken at the Caribbean restaurant but many other good things. Buffets were always tasty. For all inclusive - quite good.
Water temp in shower - I told myself it was a spa therapy ! Ha.
That’s about it!
The resort was clean and the staff was friendly.
The resort was clean and the staff was friendly. Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso was a little piece of heaven on earth. Beautiful landscapes, delicious food, and amazing service. I am planning on returning!!! But it really is the people who work there that made my stay special. They always smiling and wanting to know how to make my stay even more perfect than it was!! They always made sure I was comfortable. The Entertainment crew was very engaging, helpful, and FUN! Thank you all!!
Food, room, service, indoor pool are all good. Included golf rounds are great. However, although publicly listed golf price for Grand Hotel guests is USD 69 per person per round, we were charged USD79 per person per round. Is the tip being built in? The cashier girl at the club house had an ugly attitude when we inquired about the inflated price. The only unpleasant moment over the entire 7-day stay at the resort. We took Sunwing package, however, we never met their representative during the stay which is unusual. We were not able to get free massage as its advertised included feature. The front desk didn’t tell us that there is an agent room behind until the last day. We missed opportunities to checkout some excursion choices.
