"The value of all service lies in the spirit in which you serve and not in the importance or magnitude of the service...
Even the lowliest task or deed is made holy, joyous, and prosperous when it is filled with love."
This is a quick note of thanks and profound appreciation to all the wonderful staff at The Grand Paraiso as we leave our "home away from home". Although each and every encounter with staff is always positive and pleasing, we feel we must mention just a few who made our stay extra bright and beautiful...
Carlos who served us so warmly and competently on our first evening at l'Atelier. We asked him to choose our wine for our meal. We made a good decision and so did he. Way to go, Carlos!
Alberto at Bella vista. We were lucky enough to be seated at one of his tables a few times. He aims to please with his every move. Thank you for the Cappucino, Alberto!
Cecilia our gracious hostess at lunch and a few times before our a la carte meals in the evenings, is an absolute delight. She remembered us and we will remember her and her smile!
Alfredo, graciously gave us way too much of his precious time while we enjoyed the cocktail mixing lessons at the relaxing, Prestige lounge. He showed us how he loves and respects his work, the people he works with and those he serves each and every day, and above all, his love for his wife and children. Blessings to you, Alfredo!
Gustavo, mixologist extraordinaire!! Shaking things up whether it be a drink or the people who gather around him is FUN FUN FUN!
Hugo, is very serious and attentive about his work. He so graciously came to help pair our wine for our Italian dinner. Our wonderful meal came together certainly because of the great wine, but mostly because of Hugo's caring! We called on him again the following evening in the Surf and Turf. Again, fantastic!
Berta who prepared our room everyday, even with her shyness in English, she more than fulfilled our every need. Next time we come we promise to have learnt some Spanish
Daniel at the lobby bar...what a joyful spirit he has. It took us till our fourth return to be brave enough to sit at the bar. How fun it was. All these times, we were missing out on getting to know him better. Thank you for the "Belini-tini"!
Raoul, our fantastic server at the Italian restaurant . He had such good humour and offered us a lovely opportunity to enjoy more fully the taste of Italy.
Lizandro, who brought us our" quatro Modelo special" each and every time we were seated in his area at La Brisa. Lunch was always a delight! What a great spirit he has!
Ana is just one of the many sou-chefs. She is so sweet and lovely and knew exactly how to prepare ceviché for our individual tastes and never forgot what we liked. She is so adorable and attentive. It was good to get to know her just a little better.
Olivia has been a constant delight and friend throughout our 4 stays at the Grand. Watching her work is something of a marvel. She is indeed our friend for whom we care deeply.
Last but by no means least, our dear Mirna. There are no words to express our complete joy upon seeing her with every return to the Grand. She is among the greatest reasons for our desire to keep coming back. She is both gentle and sweet and works so diligently to provide for our every comfort and answer all of our ridiculous questions that often interrupt her work. And, she makes the best mojitos for our taste. Blessings to you and all those you love, Mirna!
Once again, these are just a few of the amazing staff who care for us and respond to our every whim at the Grand.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Till we meet again.

My husband and myself had an amazing 2 weeks at the Iberostar Grand.
We had a few teething problems, but was very quickly resolved, no problem. The Management and staff genuinely want you to enjoy your holiday, and go above and beyond to achieve that.
The food was amazing, well we have never eaten steak as tender and mouth watering as this, The buffet is very good, always catered for everyone's taste. The rooms are very clean, and towel changed twice daily. The staff were very friendly, thanks to Yuri The Pool Consiarge, she was amazing, and Daniel the bartender, and The Star friends, Infact all the staff where great. The staff don't expect you to tip, but are grateful when you do.
We wanted to compare this hotel with the Iberostar Grand in Jamaica, and Mexico Iberostar won hands down. Thank you Iberostar Paraiso For an enjoyable time.

Iberostar Grand - has the WOW factor - 4th visit
This had to be one of the best vacations we have experienced in the 20 years of travelling to destinations in Mexico. This was our 4th visit to the IBGP and we have visited Iberostar Grand's in Punta Cana and Jamaica.
Starting with our pre-vacation arrangements; we emailed our room request and restaurant reservations and had a confirmation back within a day. When we got to the resort everything was ready for us and reservations were as we requested.
Funny thing is when we arrived the employees not only remembered us but remembered our names. It wasn't a put on either because as they would look up and see us coming there was a genuine smile and greeting "Tom and Lesley". The employees are amazing and not to be a broken record but everyone from the bellman to the gardeners working around the resort work hard to ensure you get the best vacation experience ever. A welcome home; smile; olla; a smile always welcoming and professional! Everyone that greets you asks if there is anything they can do for you or if you need anything! Customer service at it's finest! On another note - I've read reviews about language barriers - they always impress me with their knowledge of the English language.
Our room was in building 71 on the top floor looking out over the ocean - this is one of the many reasons we choose to vacation here. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, quite and roomy. Our maid did an amazing job of having everything in place when we returned from a day at the beach. The mini bar was filled daily - our butler asked how we wanted it stocked and it was done.
We ate at all the restaurants - service was exceptional, food was great at all with many choices. Our favorites were Italian, surf and turf, Japanese; that being said we enjoyed them all. They have a great wine list and if you are not fine with the house wines just order of the wine menu.
Well need to cut this short but safe to say this resort is a real gem with a lot of the WOW factor. The staff, grounds, pool, beach - just everything is an amazing experience. We are already booking to be back for our 5th visit in November and started counting the days. We would like to thank Iberostar and all the staff for another amazingly relaxed vacation where we felt like royalty! Tom and Lesley!
The Old Lady's Crown is slipping and needs re-positioning
We're just back from a 2 weeks at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso in Mexico.
This was our third (2 week) visit to the Grand Paraiso having previously stayed at the Tucan (2 weeks), the Maya (2 weeks) and the Grand Bavaro, Dom. Rep. (4 weeks)
Whilst we enjoyed this latest holiday, we did have aspects of disappointment. I will be honest and factual in the hope of helping potential future customers for this hotel. I am by nature a happy soul and rarely complain. This is not a case of "familiarity brings contempt."
We booked a sea-front junior suite and the view (higher floor) was excellent.
Having pre-booked the speciality restaurants for 4 nights, with the International Buffet (exceptional!) on the first night. I was disappointed, after 4 days not to easily make further bookings via our Butler and Concierge. In my honest view, Butlers are generally of little use, other than to massage someone's vanity in telling friends on their return.
Now comes one my biggest disappointments. ..... why do you need a Restaurant booking? ... other similar Chains (and Cruise-Lines) have successfully eradicated this. You turn up and might have to wait a short time by having a drink in an adjacent bar. I was hearing of people at Iberostar turning up at their convenience and still getting in. Why should we be inconvenienced when we faithfully abide by the current hotel rules?
In the Italian Restaurant the temperature was uncomfortably and unusually low with ladies having to wear extra layers around their shoulders. We were told that "the Director set the temperature and it could not be modified."
Talking of Directors..... In previous years they were always evident at breakfast and other times. They warmly solicited and welcomed comment. This year they were almost invisible, unless they were spending so much time taking parties to see the extra benefits (and cost) of joining The Club. Good management in 5 Star establishments should 'walk the walk and talk the talk'.....on this occasion they seemed somewhat reticent to do do. I was in fact about to go into the French Restaurant on our last night and was approached by a Lady Director with a curt "you wanted to see me!?" It was straight out of "How (not) to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie.
All we had previously said to our Concierge was would we be receiving any flowers for our room? as we had done in the past and as others we talked to had done on only their first visit. We received no flowers as a welcome back or whatever. As we checked out, a lady gave us a small sport's bag which was covered in advertisements for Iberostar and a Star key-ring which we wondered might be taken off us by Customs. As a retired Marketeer (M.Inst.M.) I venture to suggest that your merchandising needs totally re-vamping and bringing up to date.
On to more happy matters, the beach drinks service was the best ever. Our Maid (Claudia in 7156) did an excellent job. Wi-fi was exceptionally good and the best of any hotel thus far.
The bathrooms are well stocked, but a non-thermostatically (dangerously) controlled shower head is just not good enough in 2016. Doubtless, the ladies would also welcome a separate hand shower head for hygiene purposes.
Staff worked hard and we received many Holas! y Como Estas?
One of your senior waiters (Jorge) with greyish hair was extremely courteous, caring and accommodating. It was a pleasure to meet him and he is an asset to Iberostar
Only a minor point, but why make excellent health drinks ( which inevitably separate) and don't have long-handled spoons at the counter to stir them?
Food quality and quantity was exceptional and the catering staff are to be congratulated. We also found the waitresses in the main bar to be welcoming and efficient.
This time we noticed that the Star Friends were mainly male and some seemed un-trained and only wanted the company of their work friends in the evening.
So we arrived home on time, after a holiday which, unlike past experiences, promised much, but didn't quite deliver as we could fairly and realistically expect.
If any Iberian or Mexican Director reads this review, I'm sure he or she will already be aware that "Any Company's most valuable asset is a truly satisfied Customer. I am not as satisfied as I have been in the past and might have to look elsewhere.
Let's see what the 2017 brochures promise and how the reviews gravitate in the months ahead. In the interim,I will hold back my previous recommendations to friends.
Exellent Place ! But needs Work
We just got back from our 4 time @ the GRAND ! We stayed 2 weeks like always and found a lot of cuts in service ! the place was only 45% full and you would think they give you an upgrade to Ocean FRONT?? no way ! we got a room on the 3 floor with the largest Tree in front, with all the Mosquitos in Mexico ZIKA vires??we got bitten 25 time each anyway we took Afterbite and Anti Itch lotion along because in the hotel store it is 20.00 U.S.$$$ but still it spoiled our vacation !! we did a lot of tipping and still got only half an once of Boose on the Beach an every time we got a Different Waiter so more tipping" NO MORE GRAND" The club member area on the Beach is a Descries !!
