We stayed in February 2016 for a week just to get some winter sun just the 2 of us, we have travelled to mexico many times over the last 10 years and this hotel by far was the best we have stayed at. Service was Excellent, room comfort was outstanding, food choice and quality was very good. Entertaiment was of a high standard in an air conditioned theatre. the pools were very big but a liitle cool in february.
overall an excellent trip, we would return and will consider other iberostar hotels in the future.
Not really sure where to start. Out of my element on this one.
I guess I'm not sure where to start. I have been taken completely off guard by this experience. That is, in a good way. I live in a mountain ski resort town in the USA. Park City, UT and my standards are above average I would guess? We own a million $ plus home and travel frequently. We are both technology professionals. However, I am rarely exposed to exceptional service like I have experienced in the last week at Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso. I am speechless. I am uncomfortable and out of my element explaining my stay here. This is not what I expected. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff, across the board is staggering. They are consistent, timely and genuine every day, and that is what has struck me. They have surprised us each day with a creative, gift, service or delight. What strikes me is that you can tell that the effort is rooted in a genuine desire to please their guests and make it special. I am humbled by this place. The resort is spotless. The staff in every area is intelligent, inquisitive of your experience and professional. I have never, ever posted a review of a destination resort. This one is required, I must shout praises for whomever manages this resort and manages to hire such wonderful, priceless employees. I will honor Grecia who checked us in, Alturo who welcomed us 'Home' when we arrived, Emilio's consistent, gracious service in the Bella Vista restaurant, Hugo who always took the time to inquire about our dining experience, and there were many more.
I don't get many vacations these days, We have a lot more money than time so any vacation is precious. I'm a little cynical and didn't expect much when I booked this resort. I now understand what they mean when Alturo told me "Welcome Home" when I arrived. Thank you everyone for a special week.
We just returned from our 4th visit to the Iberostar Grand. We have always enjoyed our stays at this property, and this time was no different. This time though there were a few areas which I feel could use a little improvement. But first the good.ð We arrived around 1pm and our room was ready! Something new, you now have to pay extra for a guaranteed pool view, which we did. We had a 3rd floor quiet pool view. The room was lovely. For the next 5 days we enjoyed great weather and enjoyed the wonderful staff at The Grand. The staff truly is their best asset!!
First ,let me add we are pretty easy going and are not complainers. And secondly, before you start judging and saying how petty I'm being, just remember different things are important to different people on vacation. I am noting these things not because they affected our good time, but because they may help others in planning their vacations. Sometimes when you have it narrowed down to a couple of resorts,it's the little things that sway your decision!!
* They will try to sell you a "vacation club membership" by passing you off to someone after check-in. We just said no we were not interested and do not want to talk to anyone about it, and they didn't bother us after that
* The butler situation. We never use the butler, but they really should drop the whole butler thing because so many people were complaining about it. People have expectations that they are going to have this "private butler" which doesn't seem to happen very often. They should call them concierges, because that's what they really are! We just pick up the phone and ask for what we need-it works great!!
*Room service - OK I have kind of a big issue with this! This is an up-scale expensive resort, and yet the room service food is just not very good! And the menu has been the same forever- very, very limited. There are many evenings after a long day in the sun, drinking, you just want to hang in and have a nice dinner in your room. Please up-date your room service menu , and make the food delicious:) We recently stayed at Secrets Akumal and their room service menu
is like a full restaurant menu, and it was very good!! Like fine dining in your room!
* When I say this, I can hear some of you saying - your in Mexico so of course the TV is in Spanish- I know that!! But for those of you that TV is important, you only get 4 English channels at the Grand(BBC,Fox news,Fox sports, and one more). No movie channels.
*Outside bar. I really wish The Grand would add a nice outside bar to the property! The evenings were beautiful, nice breeze, beautiful stars, and no where outside to have a drink! The lobby bar is fun,and Daniel makes a good drink ,but it's inside!!!
* Reservation system. I'm not a fan,and prefer not to have to be on a schedule. Many of the newer up-scale all inclusive hotels have no reservation policies. I was talking to the reservation girl about this policy yesterday, and her response," it's only hard to get reservations the first few nights of your stay". Really!! The first few night could be half of your stay!! The key to avoiding the whole reservation scene is to e-mail the hotel prior to arriving. We made all our reservations before we arrived and it worked out fine.
So those are my suggestions:)
Like I said,we still had a great time! The food is fine. It's a beautiful property, and the people are super nice.
When we first started going to The Grand it was really the only luxury
adults only all inclusive, but now there are several...so the Grand has to keep up!!
Cheers and enjoy your vacation!
We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso for 4 nights in September. We have stayed at a number of all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. I chose this resort based on the number of great reviews. I have never written a review before; however, feel I need to for this one. This was - hands down - the most amazing resort we have been to! It is gorgeous - the rooms are great, the amenities great. The most memorable part of the trip was the staff - from the moment we arrived until we left. We cannot even single any staff member out as they were all extremely friendly and always available. Always trying to find a way to make your stay more enjoyable. The entire time we were there we kept remarking about how incredible the place was - cannot wait to return!!
Great room overlooking Tranquility pool another great holiday with fantastic staff treating you like one of the family always on hand to help you very relaxing. It is a long way to come from Britain but well worth the journey when you get there, the restaurants are lovely good food and great service and in the evening the lounge is nice to sit and have a drink with great barmen and waiters who are very professional. All in all a great holiday, and met some nice people while there.
