Perfect mix of quiet beach relaxation and poolside social activities. We dined at the Mexican, Italian and Indonesian restaurants.Food and service was outstanding Highly recommend. Kudos to the staff for superior customer service!
Best resort ever! Loved the staff there. Very friendly and welcoming. Resort is well kept and clean.
Would recommend the Valentin to anyone
This resort is great in every aspect. The pool and day time activities are great and the food is always good. Have been there twice and would go back again!
High Value Valentin
Superb service, food was excellent at buffets and various restaurants. Maid and service bar service was timely and excellent.
Our issues were not with the staff or service. The food was a disappointment and we did try 4 of the restaurants. We could not adjust our air conditioning in our room so when we were hot ther was no action we could take. Also, the jacuzzi in the room was inadequate. We couldn't fill it up in an acceptable amount of time by using just the warm water.
Our trip was 100% perfect. We loved every second of it. We will definitely be back!
Paradise! It was tough to leave!
The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Carlos was a joy to do yoga on the beach and Gus was so friendly! We had a wonderful time and their encouragement to get involved in all the activities was awesome! Dora did a great job and had great enthusiasm for the water zumba class as well! The food was delicious and such a wonderful variety of restaurants. The nightly entertainment was also very professional! Truly a delightful resort!
Paid for a swim out room with jetted tub. Discovered tub not working on second night. the worked on it every day until our last day when an orange ring appeared in the water. Obviously the pump was leaking oil into the water. We requested the upgrade fee back, the offered two nights back, even thought it was NEVER repaired.
One word - Amazing!
We just got back from our honeymoon and we already can't wait to go back! This resort deserves more than 5 stars. Every staff member you come in contact with is absolutely delightful and ready to meet your every want or need. The grounds are beautiful and perfectly maintained. There is a variety of restaurants - we very much enjoyed trying different foods at each of them. Our room was beautiful and perfectly cared for each day. There was live music each night and an entertaining show to watch after dinner. I can't say one bad thing about our stay!
This was our second trip with Apple to the Valetin Imperial Maya. this time as well as the first time it exceeded our expectations. We were more comfortable this time around, saw several of the shows in the evening, they were all fantastic. Can't wait to begin planning our next trip.
Just returned from the VIM and I’m already trying to figure out when I can go again! Everything about this hotel was top notch.

Beautiful resort with wonderful Service
We have been home a few days now and are ready to go back again! First off the staff is top notch and very accommodating! EVERYONE is friendly and greets you! We had a swim up room building 6, and we were pleased with walking out and being able to relax pool side. This area is quite with service right at your door, waiters/waitresses walking along taking your drink and food order, with quick service.
We had read many reviews prior to going...it is a larger resort BUT it is quite by all the rooms, restaurants are mostly to the front of the resort where all the nightly entertainment happens as well. When I go to bed I don't to hear people partying; my personal opinion. Plus the bit of a walk is needed with all the food and drinks! If you don't want to walk there are gentlemen on golf carts asking if you need a ride!
Food-We tried all but the Indonesian restaurant (ran out of time), everything was cooked to our satisfaction and tasted good! No complaints!
Pools-were cold, but we still got in...Its January, pools are not heated and the nights were cool, they can't control that and I'm not complaining!
Beach-Plenty of beach to swim! Yes there is an area that is rocky and you can't utilize the whole resorts beach to "swim in" but that being said PLENTY on beach to swim in!
Rooms-Gorgeous-Spacious-Clean-and secure! We left our main door cracked as we knew room service was coming, we received a call from the main desk letting us know that our main door was open, made us feel very good that they were on top of things!
Look forward to returning to this beautiful resort in the future!
Incredible resort but the staff is even better. The food is great. The French and Italian restaurants are wonderful. Everything about this resort is perfect. We will be back in 2018! Ps. The Privledge package is worth it.
Very Good All-inclusive
My husband I just returned from a 6 day trip to VIRM. We had less than ideal weather during our stay, and from what we were told, it’s not uncommon for this time of year. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 60s. It sounds fine on paper, but add in the fact that it was very windy and overcast most days and you’re left with weather that isn’t suitable for the beach/pool. We were able to sit at the pool for a few hours on 2 days, but we never got in the pool or ocean. The whole time we were there, we saw less than 15 people in the pool. (It’s not heated and there’s no hot tub).
In my opinion, there are way too many palapas and chairs reserved for Privilege Club. Only a very few of them were in use during our stay, so we ended up walking past dozens of empty palapas to get to the non-privileged chairs. The chairs at the pool and beach that aren’t for the Privilege Club aren’t supposed to be saved/reserved by guests, yet we saw it happening every day. Our room was oceanfront, and I witnessed someone coming out at sunrise and throwing a towel and book on two beach chairs. When my husband and I were outside 3 hours later, the chairs were still empty and there were almost no other open chairs. There are signs everywhere that prohibit saving chairs, but the rule isn’t enforced. You would think the management would enforce the rule since people complain about it in reviews quite a bit, but apparently, they don’t.
The grounds are amazing. I cannot say enough great things about how beautiful everything is, and how well maintained. We had an oceanfront emerald suite in building 12, and if I ever go back, I will ask for this same building. The place is massive, but we didn’t mind that. In fact, I rather enjoyed walking to/from the restaurants. The service was fantastic. Every single person we came in contact with was gracious and accommodating. I’ve never been to another resort with better service.
The food is okay. We ate at all of the restaurants, but did not do the romantic dinner. The breakfast and lunch buffets are about what you’d expect. After a few days of the same things over and over, I was already thinking about being at home so I could make myself something different to eat. The dinner restaurants were extremely slow, and I could never really figure out why. They really weren’t crowded. They didn’t appear to be under staffed. While on vacation, I don’t want to rush through a meal, but I also don’t want to spend 2 hours at dinner. The portions are small, and you’re encouraged to order several courses. Unfortunately, we were often left for 15-20 minutes between courses without seeing our server. One night we got up and left after waiting 20 minutes for someone to bring us the dessert menu (Italian restaurant). We were a little put out by the dress code requirements while packing, but we quickly discovered that’s another rule that’s not enforced. We saw plenty of flip flops (ladies) and tennis shoes (men).
One final thought, I applaud the resort for how many people they seem to employ. The more jobs the better; however, it’s often a little confusing for the guests. Here’s an example; someone picked us up and drove us to the hotel. A man helped us out of the van and escorted us (and our bags) to the main lobby. Another person met us at the door and walked us to the main lobby. One man handled our initial check in, but when there was a problem we were passed off to another lady. The following day we had to change rooms, and a cart picked us up. Another man met us at the new room with our new keys and took our bags from the cart driver. After leaving a tip for housekeeping and requesting certain minibar items (which was ignored) we learned that there is a housekeeper and a separate minibar person. Housekeeping took the tip and did not pass on our request. After that we left a tip for housekeeping AND one in the fridge for the minibar person. My whole point being, we felt obligated to tip each and every one of these people. And honestly, they deserve it. I’m simply pointing out that there are lots of situations where two employees are doing the job of one person, which creates the need for the customer to tip twice as much. After a week of noticing it, I was a little irritated. Carry lots of $1s and $5s. We never left our room without tipping $10-15 USD.
All in all, the resort is beautiful, and we had a very good experience. I would visit again, but only if I got a great deal.
A true 5-star resort!
January 10 - 17, 2018 my husband and I along with a few other couples had the opportunity to experience the beautiful Valentin Resort! I will tell you I was a bit skeptical of the sheer size of the resort by the photos and map that I had researched online, however, upon arrival I was extremely pleased at the layout of the property, the proximity of restaurants, pools, and the beautiful beach.
The amenities at this property are exceptional. Shuttles to/from the main building or to the beach are available within minutes if needed. Massage opportunities within the building or near the pool are readily available. There is a sports and music bar, shows nightly, reggae bands, dj's, nightly entertainment, bike tours, fitness opportunities and much, much more.
The restaurants are amazing! When planning to dine, plan to have a dressy attire. It is worth it! You will have the opportunity to enjoy restaurants such as:
Mar y Tierra (Surf and Turf)
La Hacienda (Mexican)
and The Corner for an extra charge
Don't miss out on a romantic dinner on the beach...it is worth it.
PS...The entertainment group is amazing. Dora, yes that is her name, was engaging, entertaining and supported with other great folks that made activities at the pool so much fun.
The rooms are beautiful, the grounds manicured perfectly and if you are lucky, you could catch a glimpse of a coati (raccoon family), an iguana, or other little creatures. They are not a nuisance, this resort has the bird population and critter population under control (they have hawks that help control the unwanted invaders.
Amazing trip - will return !
Dec 29th to Jan 5th
Amazing resort, will be coming coming, just a few things to improve on.
We arrived late on the 29th and were pleasantly surprised that room service was free and the menu had a very good selection of food. You could order all 3 meals from room service if you wanted.
We had a Deluxe Garden View room. Amazing room. Big tub, separate shower. Loved it. I see no reason why anyone would pay to upgrade from that other then the view.
The food was amazing. Le Marche was amazing for breakfast. Had many more options then the Mar & Terriea
The main pool is huge. It is unfortunately not heated. None of the pools are. So it’s pretty chilly and takes a lot to get used to. First resort I’ve been to where the pool wasn’t heated. The poolside drink service was awesome though.
The dinners are only Al la carte, which is nice but I feel like there should be a buffet at night as well.
Certain nights the Valentin allows local vendors onto the resort. We did not like this, they bug you as your walking by to come look at their stuff and we found this very uncomfortable. This is a big negative. If we wanted to purchase stuff we would
Of done so In Playa del Carmen
The pool had a lot of activities. We did a bike ride with Sairy and she was great. So fun and was very knowledgeable.
We had one server from the Mar & Terria that was great. Mario. He was the best server of the trip.
Daniel was one of the shuttle drivers. He was one of the only ones to stop and ask if we wanted a ride on more then one occasion. Super kind and knowledgeable person. Often golf carts would go flying by empty. We tried calling for one, one day but it didn’t come after 20 minutes of waiting we just walked
Miguel was one of the bad tenders and he was unreal. Mixed drinks perfect everytime !
Christmas music was playing up until the night we left. It was getting old really fast.
We did really enjoy our trip and we would love to come back.
