The hotel hasn’t changed in the past 2 years. Grounds are beautiful, immaculately kept, and the pool is great. Our room was comfortable and cool. Food was good as was room service. The beaches did have quite a bit of seaweed this time and the waves were pretty rough so the beach certainly wasnt the highlight.
this hotel is simply put amazing. All of their staff members are polite and very pleasant and make your stay amazing.
Absolutely incredible, we'll be back!
My parents and I spent 4 nights at Valentin Imperial, we had never been to Riviera Maya before let alone this resort. It was absolutely amazing. From the moment we stepped off the airport transfer van, we were treated like royalty. Every staff member was professional. We were greeted with cool towels and a glass of champagne at check in. We were escorted to our room in a golf cart by a very nice man named Daniel. He showed us all the features of our room before bidding farewell. Our room was meticulously clean and a perfect size for the 3 of us.
The Food: Blew us away, from the breakfast buffet to the many dinner options! Breakfast was my favorite, everything you could imagine was available (crepes, eggs, pancakes, fruit, fruit juices, breads, cereal, meats, cheeses, pastries, mimosas, coffees). The service in every restaurant was 5/5. I am a vegetarian, and they were extremely accommodating towards my special diet. We went to the Japanese, Italian, Steak/Seafood, and Indonesian restaurants for dinner. Reservations not required, first come first serve. All were fantastic.
The pool: Well maintained, large, and the chairs are very comfortable. Poolside drink service was very nice so we had the ultimate relaxing poolside experience. Plenty of activities including workouts(spin class and aerobics in the pool!!) and games going on each day at the pool.
The beach: Again well maintained, small huts cover lots of lounge chairs so you can have both shade and sun! And drink service was incredible. The water was perfect, although apparently the seaweed is really heavy this year!
Nightlife: Always something going on at night- usually a band in the courtyard as well as a show in the Theatre!
We really don't have anything bad to say about this place. We met many people who had been coming to the Valentin for years and years after trying other resorts. It really is an incredible place. We'll be back!
Beautiful Tropical Resort
This is our 1st visit to the Valentin. We have stayed at other All-inclusive, over 18 resorts in the area so we are learning what we like in them. This resort is one of the prettiest resorts I have been to. The foliage is thick and everywhere which I love. It is a very spread our resort and is a little difficult to navigate until you learn to cut through certain buildings to get places. We had a group of 10 and 3 husbands got up at 5:30 (early risers anyhow) to scout out pool groupings for us everyday. They say you can't reserve chairs but you can. We did not like the beach...very rough waves, rocky and seaweed. We also did not care for the wait staff at the beach. We LOVED the lazy river pools up by building 6-8! Maria & Eduardo are the best servers there!! We received bad table service the ocean restaurant...long wait, empty wine glasses, couldn't get rolls and butter... Our room was gorgeous but had tiny ants on our sink counter and the refrigerator was not replenished well. We also did not get pool towels every night and they make it difficult to get pool towels. You have to go the dive shop or to your concierge for them. The lobby bar is huge and has the very best drinks on site!! The fire show was good but the other shows are not very good compared to the shows we have seen at the Secrets resorts. We LOVED the foam party! Overall, we enjoyed our week at the Valentin but would go to another resort with a better beach and higher quality entertainment next time.
The restaurant by the ocean was understaffed. The rest of the resort was great.
Had a great time!
We loved the Valentin Imperial! Pros: great pool, beautiful, peaceful grounds, fun activities, good food, good service. Negative/needs improvement: hot tub in hotel room outdated and didn't work, turndown service spotty, restaurants had long wait times, other guests hogged the pool floats and no one did anything about it.
Just As Amazing As The First Time
My husband and I went to Valentin for our honeymoon, we were there previously a couple years ago and our trip was amazing. Everyone is so accommodating and nice, it truly is a home away from home. They always have great activities going and the food as amazing! I honestly don't or can't think of one negative thing about Valentin. We have recommended this resort to another friend in which they ended up going and loved it just as much as we did. We can't wait to be back, thanks again to all the Valentin staff for your astonishing service!
Room service and wait service was a little inconsistent but not really xenough to be bothersome. The property was beautiful and extremely clean. The staff very friendly and helpful. I would love to return for a longer stay.
Valentin Imprerial Maya is a Top Notch Experience in Mexico
We were pleasantly surprised by the top notch experience at the Valentin Imperial Maya. We came with a total group of 6 for a friends' vacation celebrating 40th birthdays. Everything was well designed, well taken care of, and well served. The staff was very welcoming and friendly throughout. The food options were plenty and delicious. We definitely took advantage of our group size and ordered many items on the menu to serve family style so we could try everything. We enjoyed many hours at the pool, including some of the Go Team activities like water aerobics/zumba. We would have loved to enjoy time at the beach, but didn't opt to invest in the upgrade. However, took many walks along the shore. Overall, a wonderful experience and I hope we can return sooner rather than later. Thank you VIM!
Best Honeymoon Ever!
My husband and I booked the Valentin Imperial Maya for our honeymoon and could not have had a better time! Everything about the resort was paradise and extremely relaxing. We had not even ended our vacation yet and were already talking about trying to come back for an anniversary! We cannot wait to go back, and we will definitely be booking through Apple Vacations. Thanks Amanda Shook!

Top notch resort
First time in Playa and at Valentin. We loved it so much that we went back 2 months later in December for 5 more nights.
The food/Restaurant choices are amazing, the grounds are breathtaking and the staff is phenomenal!
Stop Looking and Book It!
We booked the Valentin Imperial based on a personal recommendation as well as the reviews we read here. Although we've never been to this part of Mexico, we'll never bother trying to find another resort. This place is top-notch. Clean and spotless. Super friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food. Huge pool that had a more active area as well as a more quiet area ... plus the lazy river pool. Something for everyone.
Wow, just wow
On our 12th trip to the Mayan we found the Valentin imperial, and chose to book based on reviews. It was marginally more expensive than resorts we had stayed at, but the difference was insignificant we determined, as we were already committed to spending x amount.
As soon as we arrived we realized why the reviews were what they were. The resort was pristine and the check-in process was as if we were personally invited. Our room was in building 5 and was stunning. The property is lush and manicured, with every detail looked after. We seldom saw staff doing the work, but magically the resort was always kept perfect.
We are very selective with our diets, and get sick of resort food quickly, which was one reason we chose the Valentin. The restaurants were works of art, like nothing we've seen at home let alone in Mexico. The food was absolutely amazing, not too salty or fried, and a vast selection for everyone's tastes. There was no evening buffet, so you were almost forced to have a nice dinner each night. No reservations required made it really convenient to leisurely stroll to dinner when you're ready, rather than when you reserved the time.
The beach was INSANE. it stretched as far left and right, as the eye can see. The sand was perfect, no rocks, and shallow so that you can walk put without having to tread water. The waives are aggressive, but since you're never more that waist-deep, they're fun rather than intimidating.
The staff were the best I've seen on any vacation anywhere. Each person seemed happy to be There, and happy that you are there. They want you to have a good vacation, and it's apparent. I imagine they screen the staff well and have amazing people.
We often get bored after a few days of doing the same thing every day, but the "Go" staff changed that for us. Dora and Iris (as well as the text of the staff) were crazy! From morning to night they tirelessly make sure you're never bored. There wasn't a moment they weren't trying to make us have fun. They felt like one friend you have that make the party a good time. If you aren't into the excitement however, there is TONS of room to chill and read a book of you desire.
We met many couples there, and each ones were "repeat offenders", returning to the Valentin 10 and 15 times!!!
Lastly, its close to the airport. After a day of travel, we hate being stuck in a bus for an additional hour or two. This was a HUGE extra bonus for us.
Loved this resort
Our vacation was for a destination wedding mid March. We are greeted at the airport and taken to a huge limo. The resort was beautiful and the wedding was perfect. We had a swim up room which not only had gorgeous accommodations but loved walking out to our private patio and jumping in the pool.
A week in Paradise .. I'll be back
Upon arrival, though the entry is modest from the highway, we were amazed at the property, the staff and food that was behind the gates. The property did a great job of having natural areas to stroll through but never felt like it was over urn with critters or insects etc. This was a nicve, natural sound barrier and we never heard things happening across the resort as we sat on our balcony (morning or evening)I would highly recommend the Privilege Package (though I was uncomfortable referring to myself as 'privileged' all week, maybe "Premier Package' might be a little easier to get out). My wife and I have cruised, stayed in beach homes, condos and all-inclusives. Since I do not like being confined to a boat and like the services and ease of resorts, all-inclusive has been our route for the past 15 years for a couples trip(without our little ones). We were married in St Thomas and have been to resorts in Jamaica, Dom Rep, Puerto Rico, Caymans, St Lucia, Costa Rica, Cozumel and Cancun ... my feeling is typically that if I were blind folded and dropped into a resort, the pool and beach being equal at all, the difference makers are the resort layout, food quality, drinks and of course the staff. This one gets 5 stars from us and will be the only one we return to!! Every member of the staff stopped what they were doing to greet us, all were helpful even if it was out of their area of expertise. The only design flaw I might note, is that since we were in the Privileged area and on the top floor, the guest room barroom had a skylight in the ceiling. Even though the front of the room had nice black shades to keep the sun out, we could not keep the room dark after 6:30am because the sun came through and lit it the entire room .. the barrier between the bathroom and sleeping area is only opaque glass. My wife had a sleep mask, I got up extra early. That said, the room was nice and spacious with a sitting area and nice balcony (views shown below in photos).
The BIG difference maker here is the staff .. I want to give kudos to those that really stepped up for us from start to finish but please excuse the spelling on the names.
VIP Check In -- Mauricio checked us in and booked our first four dinners upon arrival, he was easy find all week and always very helpful.
Cabana Host -- Fransisco was great. We were accidentally booked on a beach pavilion for the first day but he moved us to the front row, poolside immediately and had everything set up every day. He knew our names and greeted us everyday.
Go Team was great, active but never over bearing. Most activies were at the western end of the pool so you could have a quiet area if you wanted it but they came over, introduced themselves and asked what activities we liked and then circled back around prior to each to see if we were interested in participating .. The Tequila tasting was a favorite and informative. A special thanks to Renata, Iris, Dora, Jezer and Bennie for making our stay fun!
Pool Bartenders were always very busy but polite and would make/create anything you wanted. Not too much time for chatting as both bars were hopping all the time.
Our favorite bartender was at the beach bar - Alfredo. The pace there was slower and we liked to go sit on the swings and relax. He made us a drink (Yeti Sized) that we luv'd but could never pronounce the name. Upon our arrival, he would say "i know what you like" .. one day, he was off at 3pm but we arrived at 3:15 and he had left for the day. We were trying to explain our favorite drink to another, Alfredo saw us there struggling through our description of our beverage, he came back into the bar and made our drink for us even though he closed out for the day. Nice service !
The poolside grill was a nice option to buffets. I read a review about having some side items available out there with all the meats and I think this would be nice .. even bags of chips, ff or potato salad. Just something beside meats.
We ate in every restaurant, all were great and the Privilege Package allowed us to book out all week. Personally, as evenings were warm, I wish there were more 'dress shorts' options as long pants got warm and I found myself travelling back to the room to change after dinner because it was hot outside and this is where the band played and we ended up there every evening. The Imperial Band was great. They typically played for 75-90 minutes and we wished they would have been on a bit longer as we luv listening to live music verses just a DJ.
As noted, we have been to at least a dozen all-inclusive resorts and this will be the only one we go back to ... they just seem to get the all-inclusive resort thing and are always trying to find ways to make your stay better. "I'll be back" !!!!!
