I was not happy with apple vacations service at the airport and I purchased service for transportation from and to the airport which I did not receive. The representatives at the airport were not helpful at all and there was no apple vacation representatives at the hotel on my day of departure to help.
Our Apple rep was never at the resort. The day he was we booked a excursion , told him wanted it to be a half day and we were told it would be. We lefted at 8:00 am and were told it be back by 1:00 never returned until 3:00 not happy about this. The buffet food was the same food every day for every meal . Need to have a variety of food not the same thing everyday. When we got to our room a window covering was missing on the deck door. We told them but it never was fixed . Very hard to get into restaurants. There was a lot of landscaping maintance going on, need to do it when people are not around.
From check in to check out. Employees were so unhelpful with bad attitudes.
Rooms were wrong they did not care. The fact they would offer you coffee after you ate and were ready to leave. Family of 5 with two rooms they did not connect so my husband and myself had to sleep in separate rooms. The entertainment was lacking. They allowed salesman on the beach up to hotel who were selling everything from cigars to jewerly and counterfeit purses . Who constantly bothered you. I wish i could post the pictures of the roaches that hang out side my door. Then the girl at the desk never gave us or the family we were traveling with a check out time. They never let us know when or bus was departing. So we missed our bus had less than hour to order cabs and try to get to airport on time. We just made our flight with minutes to spare was so stressful worst experience ever and all the girl had to say was. I was suppose to put the time on here i forgot. I'm not sure if you will make it on time you will have to pay for a cab. Then she left. That was the employee response.
Our friends were at this hotel last year. Could not believe the change in everything from service to quality. They were humilated for recommending us to go with them. Also another couple said they were their in Nov and it changed since then. We feel apple should be aware when a hotel goes under new management
Comparison with last year at this hotel
We have visited this hotel for second time and noticed that the quality of the availability of set tables around meal times was poor. They were short on napkins,utensils and once even ran out of plates. The staf seemed sad. We have noticed immediately after the arrival, that water with fruit was not available at the entrance. They were not able to repair flickering light above the bath tub,that kept us awake after trying twice to repair it. We have learned t the check out, that there was charge to complimentary room service, that was truly free of charge last year. We did not even try to reserve a meal at the restaurants after hearing horror stories about the difficulty of the reservation and wait times. They played most of the time depressing spa/meditation music. After talking with other guests, that noticed the decline, we have learned about a new manager who supposedly cut a lot of staf .... etc. It would be nice to be able to contact Apple Representative directly. We left iPod on a bus which took us on a trip to Santo Domingo and could not contact anybody about it. Overall the hotel is beautiful,the surroundings and the pool are great,but there has been a noticeable decline in service.
Very very nice hotel. Royal service is the only way to go with this hotel otherwise you will be way far away from everything. Food was good. Entertainment was missing. There would be a show about every other night but it would start at like 7:30pm and go until 9pm and then nothing after that. They would have a band or a dj playing at the bar in the common area but really dont consider that much entertainment. So pretty much just leaves you to walk around or go to your room. BIG CON: all the pools close at 6pm which i complained about over and over. If theres no entertainment at least let people swim for something to do after all we are spending big $$$$ to come to this resort. Overall very nice resort to just go and relax.
I have been coming here for at least 10 years and this is the worst service I have experienced here. 1) I had to chase down the maid in the AM to get coffee packets 2) I had to call to get room service to deliver orange boxes which are supposed to be delivered every day 3} my tv did not work until Friday when someone finally figured it out (there were satellite problems Monday and Tuesday) Cocotel was closed due to rain and when it opened I couldn't play because of a tournament. Idid not want to play at 3 in the afternoon. Other arrangements should have been made for guests since it advertises that golf is included. We asked reception for an upgrade when we arrived and were told the hotel was full. We found out later it was half full. The Apple Representative never showed his face.

As a customer returning for the fifth time I expected better accommodations. Upon checking in the desk attendant has our party in two different buildings and stated it no difference we registered together. After requesting to see a manager he agreed to put us in the same building. We asked for a building closer to the lobby as my wife is scheduled for a knee replacement. He stated the hotel was at capacity. That was a total lie as we found out the facility was less than 50 percent of capacity. Our room was way to far away. For these reasons we will not be returning to that resort.
Review of Paradisus Palma Real
The first 24-hrs weren't great. Our initial room was small, no hot water, chewing gum on the bedside lamp, mini-frig was pulled out, no drawers to put clothes in. We requested a room change. Guest services did not give us a tour upon arrival so we didn't know where anything was located. An very friendly employee approached us in the evening while we had drinks. We told her our complaints. She said she'd "fix" this the next day and we were to meet her for lunch at 1:00. Long story shorter, we ended up being ushered into a Melia membership presentation without asking us if we were interested in doing that. Clearly we were NOT the best clients since we already were not impressed with our room. We sat through it all in hopes of getting a better room. Still no room change as of 5:30pm. We complained again and finally they moved us to a very nice Villa. The remainder of the trip was very nice. Unfortunately, the beginning left a very bad taste in our mouths. We would be 'smarter' next time if we decide to visit the property again.
Apple vacations will never be used again by my family and friends!
We were extremely disappointed in what was promised by the Canton Ohio Apple representative, who sold us our vacation package! We were told that an apple representative would meet and greet my family at the resort. That didn't happen, we were told to meet her at 10:00 tomorrow! Each morning ,my wife and I would waste over one hour waiting on an apple representative to be at her location in the hotel. We called the number and left messages daily
Never once did she even respond! We has so many questions that either went unanswered or another company assisted us wilth extra activities, and excursions! We spent 2 hours attempting to locate a company to assist us in getting to the airport on the day before we left! This made our vacation for from what was promised to us. I am also going to share this horrible experience with trip advisor and every friend I know. Total time my wife and I wasted was 10 hours. This experience was unacceptable and will be shared with as many others as possible. I suggest you investigate and make the necessary adjustments not only to my family, and fire the representative at the
Paradisus Palma Real resort.

The hotel was everything and beyond what we were looking for! I requested a room that can sleep the two of us traveling that had a door separating sleeping areas. Apple travel agent did research and found a 1 bedroom master suite at Paradisus. We had to pay the upgrade, but it was worth it. We both rested well in our own space. I like a quiet dark room and my husband sleeps with the tv on. I loved the hotel buffet with all the choices of healthy delicious food and drinks. The evening shows were fantastic!! The entertainers were so happy to be working night after night. Concierge was always there and helpful. Beautiful peaceful grounds and gorgeous beach.
Absolutely fantastic resort, the food is great, all staff is friendly and nice! Barmens are the best!

They made our dreams come true!
We had the wedding of our dreams on Friday April 20th at Paradisus Palma Real. Everything, absolutely everything was perfect. Our wedding planner Mariangel and the entire romance team were so attentive to detail and supportive every step of the way. The first time I spoke with her I knew that’s where we were going to celebrate that special day. Our family cannot stop raving about the great weekend we spent together. Not only the wedding was perfect but the resort amenities and food were off the charts. I’ve visited several resorts all over Dominican Republic and Palma Real is hands down the best one I’ve been to. They go above and beyond to make sure that you can’t wait to go back once you leave. Thank you for everything!
The DR, and more specifically Paradisus Palma Real, is HEAVEN! The property is a conglomerate of several Melia® brand hotels, intertwined and adjacent. When I booked the room (We are Melia Vacation Club members), I was given the option of Palma Real or The Reserve. Not realizing they were pretty much the same property, I chose Palma Real because it had “Golf” in the name.
Upon arrival, we walked into the hotel open air lobby to the most spectacular view of the property and ocean. Breathtaking. We were checked in at the Club office and promptly escorted to our room in one of the Club buildings.
The first room was not acceptable. I realize we don’t spend much time in our room; but being woke at 5:30 AM by noises in the alley was not my idea of paradise or vacation. When we commented on this to our Butler and Concierge, we were promptly moved to a ground floor room, overlooking the Club members’ pool. The one bedroom suite lacked drawer space for storage; there were lots of shelves scattered through the unit as well as 3 closets; but more pull out storage would have been better. Also, we came to realize that the room cooled best if the bathroom doors were kept closed.
For Club Members, there was a nice swimming pool with plenty of seating and Bali beds. Service around the pool was available for drinks (no food service) and the servers were quick to help us set up with towels and chairs. The beach was huge! There were a number of Bali beds on the beach as well as lounge chairs with palapas. Again, the servers were more than willing to get us settled (a small tip helped I suppose). I don’t know if this is year-round or just during slow seasons; but every day, we had a Bali Bed on the beach with our name on it. For members: NO towel cards!
For non-members, the main pool was HUGE and quite often hardly occupied. That was the location of the daily exercise activities. Again, the beach was so big, there were tons of empty chairs. Most days, there was a grill set up on the beach, adjacent to the main pool. I assume it served burgers and hot dogs; the one day I wanted to try it, it wasn’t there.
The food was very good for an All-Inclusive. The buffet at La Nao was excellent with something for everyone. On lobster night, there was actually lobster. There was an area with kid-friendly choices as well as salad, breads, grill and desserts. We ate at just about all of the “ala carte” restaurants, including the upcharge “Passion”. The steak house, RARE, was very good; the others were so-so or maybe just not to our taste. If you decide to splurge on Passion, don’t go hungry. We had the sampler; it was excellent but was spread over about two hours with the real “meat” served about 1 ½ hours into the meal.
There was entertainment every night around 9 pm. We didn’t attend an entire presentation but the bits we did see were good. Mostly, we enjoyed an evening drink at the Avenue bar and watched the people. Gabi bar often had a DJ and dance music in the evening. Gabi is an open air bar opened to the beach with lots of seating as well as dance space. The environment was very family friendly.
The entire Melia property is huge with beautiful landscaping. We walked between our room and just about everywhere on the property, including a stroll back to the hotel from the golf course (not carrying clubs). Many of the walkways between buildings are painted with a slick black paint; use caution as these walkways were slick with any moisture. Also, be careful on the stairways inside the buildings; everything is open air and with the morning moisture still on the stairway, I slipped while descending the stairs.
Many thanks to Fernando, our server on the beach and poolside, the lady bartender at Sunrise (poolside) and Gabriel, our butler. Their service definitely enhanced our vacation.
Overall, this resort was excellent. If we could get direct flights from Houston, I would say we will definitely return.
We were 6 who were on our yearly friends trip. Easy and quick flight from Newark or
jfk. Transportation to the hotel is $6-$8 and no more than 20 minutes from the airport. Check in was easy and our room was ready early but if not they have a hospitality spot where you can change. We were part of the club accommodations and had a separate check in/out and a concierge who made our meal reservations, reserved our chairs by the pool and beach, stocked our fridge with our preferred snacks and drinks and we could contact with any questions etc. there is also the royal service. Each group has their own bracelet color since there are specific seating areas at the beach and some of the restaurants, pools and bars are only for people part of royal service The reserved seating at the beaches and pools is great so that you don’t have to rush to claim a spot. There is waiter service at the pools and beaches for drinks only. There was Music and some activities by the main pool that also has a swim up bar but other quieter pools if you preferred. Certain times of the year there is a lot of seaweed on the beach and in the ocean. They have equipment that comes to remove it from the shoreline but I would recommend checking when seaweed season is and try to avoid since it’s not pleasant in the water with it. We arranged through the hotel a private half day boogie atv type tour and it was a lot of fun. There are snorkeling, catamaran and other tour options you can arrange. There are several tour desks but a lot also come around while you are by the pool and beach to arrange a trip or sell souvenirs(but don’t harass you once you say no thank you). We ate at two of the restaurants at the reserve hotel for dinner that were Beautifully decorated, great service/drinks and food was very good-especially for an all inclusive. We were all impressed with the food in general. You can order room service,go to a buffet or sit down through out the day so you can certainly find something to eat. We really liked Fuego for a sit down lunch, room service or buffet for breakfast, dinner at aqua and hibachi at the reserve and rare(steak restaurant). At night they usually had a band followed by a DJ. There is a small casino and disco We enjoyed our vacation and would recommend it.
This place is Excellent
We stayed for 5 days. The service and hospitality here was exceptional! There was never a time when we weren’t asked if we are having a great stay or if we were thirsty. Our hands always had drinks and our belly’s were always full. Juan was our Conciegre during our stay. He booked all dinners, activities, and had a surprise everyday for us in our room. I would definitely recommended staying here as just for a family, couples, or for fun adults coming to party. This is a great environment to be in.
