Decent stay despite a few hiccups

The beach is AMAZING, and the resort itself has a number of pools that are all well maintained and have nice features like plenty of shade and hammocks. The adults pool was our favorite, since it did not have loud kids, had comfy chairs, and had daybeds as well. The food was the only downside, but you can only expect so much from an all inclusive. There was no local food whatsoever which was a bummer, and the buffets were mediocre. The only positive when it came to food was that the a la carte dinners were much better. Overall I would not do it again, but the positives of the resort and beach make up for the mediocre food. Check in was also a hassle, but all other aspects of the room were above expectations.

I will never use apple vacations again

The first three days of my vacation were a wash. We booked and paid for a sea view jr suite at the grand palladium punta cana. We were given a no view room several buildings back from the beach facing a road. it was impossible to track down the on site apple rep I wasted three days trying to get it rectified and in the end I had to sign a waiver saying I wouldn't write a bad review for palladium to get my room changed to something remotely close to a sea view. I will tell everyone I know not to use apple and just to steer clear of the D.R. all together.

I see Expedia rating is 3.6 out of 5. About right. RESERVATION: We reserved 4 rooms, but two were allegedly unavailable in our price range, so we had to pay extra to get what we’d already paid for. ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF CHAIRS: There were plenty at the beach under umbrella trees, as well as at the pool. If you wanted a pool towel, you needed to get there before noon (or wait). BEACH: Atlantic with waves; no debris. TENNIS AVAILABILITY: Courts “for Club members only” are fine, but 3 courts for non-VIPs in poor shape: surface worn, parts peeing, fence too low, no lights. FOOD: Huge, but buffet food was often not hot. Restaurants closed without warning. They ran out of what should be staples, like passion fruit. Even fish cooked to order was tough. Coffee didn’t meet expectations, except in lobby bar. Overall, the food was mediocre. BARS: Plentiful ICE: Not always available. MINI-BAR: Re-stocked in morning, so if you sleep late, you may have to wait; fridges varied in temperature. NON-HARRASSMENT: Hotel rents space to vendors, and others prowl the beach, not to mention time-share and spa employees bothering people. Teen girls in our party detoured to avoid aggressive jewely salesmen. TV STATIONS: A large number in many languages, but not that many US. WI-FI: Spotty QUIET: The pools had the usual annoying music. Beach-goers could avoid noise. Rooms were especially quiet. STAFF: They seem to enjoy helping guests, though many don’t understand much English. CLEANING: Hotel offers a choice of cleaning times, but these aren’t honored. Some days we were cleaned in the morning, some we needed to ask the maid to do us next. GROUNDS: Nice like most resorts.. ROOM: Poorly designed. Impossible to turn on shower or Jacuzzi (in same unit) without climbing in. Rooms with 2 beds had frosted glass walls, so bathroom privacy impossible. TRANSPORTATION: A huge resort, with trams frequently circling. There are speed-bumps in their roads; what does this say about how their drives are supervised? (and they can trip you up at night) ELECTRICITY: Could shut off for short periods. WRISTBANDS: Required, apparently to keep guests out of the VIP area.. CASINO: We won on slots on our only visit I see Expedia rating is 3.6 out of 5. About right. RESERVATION: We reserved 4 rooms, but two were allegedly unavailable in our price range, so we had to pay extra to get what we’d already paid for. ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF CHAIRS: There were plenty at the beach under umbrella trees,

I was told there would be a rep at our hotel everyday... There was not. In fact, I only saw one, the day we got there. It was very disappointing. I had questions about excursions, but I was not ale to ask them due to no rep. I was told to look for the blue shirt with flowers, there was not an a rep present. I also feel like I should have been warned about the lack of people who spoke English. This would have been nice to know. Had I known that English was not valued here, I would have picked a different resort/destination. Over all my vacation was fine, the resort was very nice, the staff (even though they could not understand me) tried very hard to get me what we wanted. My disappointment is not with the resort, it's with Apple.

There was way too much trash around the pools, and the hotel. My room A.C. didn't work. Was moved to a second room... not better, but had a working fan. The beds were lumpy and rutted. The first room had a jacuzzi tub, with a shower head. The water goes EVERYWHERE in the bathroom, so having to mop up after a shower. The beach is small, it was never cleaned of similar trash left behind, nor cleaned of ocean "junk" after high tide. There were vendors onsite constantly pushing their trinkets. As well - the hotel vacation club kept trying to push us into a meeting where they would try to sell us a timeshare. When all you want is to be left to have a quiet vacation, this is an unacceptable annoyance. I will not go back to this place. I have friends who've stayed in other places not far from this location, with very different experiences.

The Grand Palladium Resort and Spa was beautiful. It was my understanding that it was newly renovated. I thought the hotels was very clean and the staff were extremely kind. I loved everything about the hotel and the experience my fiancé, friends, and I had! I would highly recommend the Grand Palladium!

Overall, the resort was great. It was very clean and the people were very nice. The only issue I have was trying to get water from the resort. Everyday they gave us two bottles of water but if we asked for another bottle of water they would tell us we had to wait until they restocked our fridge. Also, the food was okay. I couldn't eat the buffet everyday but I loved the steakhouse and Italian restaurant that was on the resort.

Another wonderful trip to Grand Palladium Punta Cana

Just got back from Punta Cana. We had reservations for 3 couples in the Punta Cana section but wanted Bldg 3000 or 4000. Found out they were going to be closed. Emailed with Maria over the next few months to see what we could do. Got there on May 11th and they upgraded us to the Palace Section BEACH FRONT! Hubby and I had a king room 8118, sister and her husband had 2 doubles 8113. Both had amazing views of the beach and water. Other couple were on ground floor 8102, also a double but also with great views. We were so thrilled to be steps from the beach! Entire week was great weather, little windy but pretty much sunny every day. Lots of seaweed this trip, worst we have ever seen, but nothing you can do about that. Went to a number of restaurants - everyone really liked the Habachi-we went 2x there. Buffets were good as always. I did not think the Italian was that great and the rest did not think the Asian was all that great. We never go to the Steakhouse as all 6 of us think the food there is terrible. Great water pressure in the rooms, no issues at all. HUGE tub, actually too deep! You had to be careful to get into it so you could take a shower! Only recommendation - with all the construction and remodeling - the pamplets are not up to date, signage is not up to date, show schedules were not posted like they have always been in the past. Bldg 2000, 3000 and 4000 are totally stripped, like down to the studs. So should look great once completed Our favorite - the new Hemingways! So gorgeous and in such a perfect spot right off the Punta Cana lobby. So much busier than the old Hemingways. Only issue, was music was insanely LOUD!!! With that small of space, the entertainment should be a much lower volume. You could not even talk, much less think. We walked down to the new Beach Club at the Suites section - it is gorgeous! Cannot wait to stay in the TRS again next year. Hubby and I had access to it so we went a couple times just to get a drink. They did a great job on the remodeling there with that Beach Club. Overall, another wonderful trip to Grand Palladium in Punta Cana and cannot wait to go back. Grounds as always looked amazing and staff were wonderful, just like they always are! Just love it there!

Love the shuttle service. Lots of restaurants, helpful staff. First time to a Island Vacation. Loved the beach! Came here with a group of family members for my daughters wedding which was very well done by your staff. The only problem was the wooden stools in the bathroom. I ran int it when I got up to go to the bathroom and broke a toe on my right foot!

Great stay. Staff were excellent!

Stayed here for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rooms were lovely and well cleaned, minibar restocked daily with beer water juice etc. Restaurants are amazing with the buffets cooking food such as meat and fish in front of you exactly how you like it. The steakhouse, Italians and Mexicans were phenomenal!! Bar staff were incredibly attentive bringing you refills around the pool without being asked which was a nice touch. There is lots to do in the complex and the sports bar is worth a visit. The only issue we encountered was the vendors around the pool areas (there are many beautiful pools) selling trips, people with monkeys parrots etc wanting you to buy a photo and jewellery stalls hanging necklaces around you in order to make you purchase one. Most of people will leave you be once you tell them no a couple of times. We went to the spa and had a fantastic time there (they offer 2 for 1 deals when you go) and the facilities there are second to none. When leaving the hotel we were approached by guest services to fill out a review (even though we had already done 2). This consisted of the woman taking your phone and filling out options for you and after bring told no for 15mins she eventually decided to leave us alone. Such a pity as everyone else was fabulous. All the staff were amazing and will help you in any way possible, definitely worth a visit!!

Loved it!

We just returned from our second visit to Punta Cana. We stayed the first time at the Royal part of the Grand Palladium. It was great but upon our second visit we decided to stay at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana. The rooms were great. We chose the GP because you have access to three resorts as part of the complex (four if we had stayed at the former Royal - adults only). This gave us plenty of pools and restaurants to choose from. Our first evening there, the power went out due to a brief storm. The restaurant workers were fabulous. They used the grills to provide food and they used cell phone flashlights to help guests find the food and the seating. Despite the heat (obviously no power, no a/c) and the only lighting minimal from backup generators, the staff outdid themselves to feed people and entertain us with their cheerfulness. If we come back for a third visit, absolutely we will choose one of the Grand Palladium resorts again!

Physical resort is beautiful, management not so much!

My wife and I recently spent two weeks (april 23rd-may 7th) at this resort and we took our two adult kids with us for a week. We are all Canadian and seasoned travellers. While we found the actual resort big and beautiful, the beaches terrific, food good and generally what a 5 star should provide, the resort fell short on many fronts. In my opinion, all preventable by management. On arrival, my daughters, age 29 and 31 were put into a room with one bed, obviously we had requested a two bed room and near us. They had to be moved to another distant room where it smelt horribly mouldy. They ended up staying there for the week not wanting to move again. Our room was great at first but had several issues throughout the weeks. The hairdryer blew up, toilet paper holder fell off, sliding door wouldn't lock, fan clunked, air conditioning wouldn't get the room below 27 degrees. When we left a maintenance card on the door for service, it was never replaced for other issues that may come up and we spent way too much time on the phone or customer service trying to explain the new problems. Most of the staff at this resort speak little or no English so communicating was an issue. There are no clocks in 2 of the 3 lobbies. There are no bulletin boards in the lobby explaining what shows or music are playing anywhere and as this is a large resort, creates a problem. Both of their bank machines were out of order when we needed money. They send you to the casino for small bill change but they have none for tips .You need to be very careful walking the resort as there are hundreds of vehicles travelling alongside you when going from place to place, not ever sure which ones pick you up and which ones simply pass you by even though empty. Hydro went out 4 times at least in the 2 weeks we were there, each time for the better part of an hour. Every renovated room ( to the best of my knowledge) has an absolutely stupid new shower/tub design that WILL leak a ton of water on your hall and bedroom floor causing a serious fall issue. Instead of trying to fix the issue, they simply tried to move us to another with the same issue. The maps they provide you are outdated and WAY to small to read. A restaurant and main pool mysteriously closed with no explanation. Long story short, if you speak fluid Spanish and don't care about details, you may love this resort but if you only speak a bare minimum of Spanish and you have any issues at all, good luck to you!.
