ups and downs

I see Expedia rating is 3.6 out of 5. About right. RESERVATION: We reserved 4 rooms, but two were allegedly unavailable in our price range, so we had to pay extra to get what we’d already paid for. ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF CHAIRS: There were plenty at the beach under umbrella trees, as well as at the pool. If you wanted a pool towel, you needed to get there before noon (or wait). BEACH: Atlantic with waves; no debris. TENNIS AVAILABILITY: Courts “for Club members only” are fine, but 3 courts for non-VIPs in poor shape: surface worn, parts peeing, fence too low, no lights. FOOD: Huge, but buffet food was often not hot. Restaurants closed without warning. They ran out of what should be staples, like passion fruit. Even fish cooked to order was tough. Coffee didn’t meet expectations, except in lobby bar. Overall, the food was mediocre. BARS: Plentiful ICE: Not always available. MINI-BAR: Re-stocked in morning, so if you sleep late, you may have to wait; fridges varied in temperature. NON-HARRASSMENT: Hotel rents space to vendors, and others prowl the beach, not to mention time-share and spa employees bothering people. Teen girls in our party detoured to avoid aggressive jewely salesmen. TV STATIONS: A large number in many languages, but not that many US. WI-FI: Spotty QUIET: The pools had the usual annoying music. Beach-goers could avoid noise. Rooms were especially quiet. STAFF: They seem to enjoy helping guests, though many don’t understand much English. CLEANING: Hotel offers a choice of cleaning times, but these aren’t honored. Some days we were cleaned in the morning, some we needed to ask the maid to do us next. GROUNDS: Nice like most resorts.. ROOM: Poorly designed. Impossible to turn on shower or Jacuzzi (in same unit) without climbing in. Rooms with 2 beds had frosted glass walls, so bathroom privacy impossible. TRANSPORTATION: A huge resort, with trams frequently circling. There are speed-bumps in their roads; what does this say about how their drives are supervised? (and they can trip you up at night) ELECTRICITY: Could shut off for short periods. WRISTBANDS: Required, apparently to keep guests out of the VIP area.. CASINO: We won on slots on our only visit I see Expedia rating is 3.6 out of 5. About right. RESERVATION: We reserved 4 rooms, but two were allegedly unavailable in our price range, so we had to pay extra to get what we’d already paid for. ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF CHAIRS: There were plenty at the beach under umbrella trees,

I was told there would be a rep at our hotel everyday... There was not. In fact, I only saw one, the day we got there. It was very disappointing. I had questions about excursions, but I was not ale to ask them due to no rep. I was told to look for the blue shirt with flowers, there was not an a rep present. I also feel like I should have been warned about the lack of people who spoke English. This would have been nice to know. Had I known that English was not valued here, I would have picked a different resort/destination. Over all my vacation was fine, the resort was very nice, the staff (even though they could not understand me) tried very hard to get me what we wanted. My disappointment is not with the resort, it's with Apple.

There was way too much trash around the pools, and the hotel. My room A.C. didn't work. Was moved to a second room... not better, but had a working fan. The beds were lumpy and rutted. The first room had a jacuzzi tub, with a shower head. The water goes EVERYWHERE in the bathroom, so having to mop up after a shower. The beach is small, it was never cleaned of similar trash left behind, nor cleaned of ocean "junk" after high tide. There were vendors onsite constantly pushing their trinkets. As well - the hotel vacation club kept trying to push us into a meeting where they would try to sell us a timeshare. When all you want is to be left to have a quiet vacation, this is an unacceptable annoyance. I will not go back to this place. I have friends who've stayed in other places not far from this location, with very different experiences.

The Grand Palladium Resort and Spa was beautiful. It was my understanding that it was newly renovated. I thought the hotels was very clean and the staff were extremely kind. I loved everything about the hotel and the experience my fiancé, friends, and I had! I would highly recommend the Grand Palladium!

Overall, the resort was great. It was very clean and the people were very nice. The only issue I have was trying to get water from the resort. Everyday they gave us two bottles of water but if we asked for another bottle of water they would tell us we had to wait until they restocked our fridge. Also, the food was okay. I couldn't eat the buffet everyday but I loved the steakhouse and Italian restaurant that was on the resort.

Stephanie, the Apple representative at the hotel was SUPER nice and gave great advice for things to do and not to do. I even lost my wallet and she found it and held it for me until I found her. Romni, at check in, was wonderful and extremely polite. He made sure we were happy!

Needed an Apple Rep

Resort was great. We needed guidance. Front desk OK but English not great. Finally found Apple Rep at another lobby in other part of resort. This was four days into our vacation. Not Impressed. Have always had a rep either waiting for us at arrival or contacting us. When we finally found Stephanie Guerrero she was rude because we missed her meeting. Did not want to help us and said she would not be in the lobby of our resort because there were not enough Apple people at the Punta Cana. Was told to return the day before departure to get our return conformation.

Punta Cana Palladium Resort Let’s start with the good things about staying here. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is maid service every day and over all you really can’t complain too much about the service. The staff are second to none! They are pleasant always smiling and eager to serve you no matter where you are. Weather it be in the buffet, the restaurants, lobbies, pool or bars they are there ready for your order. If you tip them they are very thankful but if you don’t you are still treated no different. The Food & Drink You can not please everyone when it comes to food but even the pickiest of eaters will survive here. The buffets have lots to offer. Also there are the specialty restaurants some very good and some not. The Japanese is a must and it’s by reservation only and once per stay. The only one I was ver disappointed with was the Indian restaurant my dish was fine but not the rest of our party. All in all you will not starve here and the drinks flow freely both domestic and imported even though it’s all inclusive. There is a free mini bar in the room that’s stocked with 1bag of peanuts that never gets replaced. There are 2 cokes 1 sprite &1 orange pop 2 domestic beers 2 Budweisers. These are always replaced. Pools There are 5 or big swimming pools with choices for the kids or adults only. Also a beautiful beach is available to relax or play. There are many excursions available at an added cost of course for the adventurous ones. Okay now here is where some improvement is needed: Evening entertainment show wise is very low quality with little choices. More than one room had the same problem as us with the modern bathroom with the fancy shower head.if too much water accumulates on back splash and tub borders it leaks under the fancy glass and puddles on your bedroom floor. A little caulking would fix that but didn’t want the stink for the rest of my stay. Really there isn’t a lot to complain about. Probably the biggest issue is some the cooks are very heavy on the salt it’s a seasoning not a staple!

Excellent

Grand palladium is a lovely hotel. We had 2 rooms for 4 guests, both exceptional and cleaned every day with fresh towels on request. All restaurants were nice and kept clean. It’s a huge resort with 4 hotels in the complex. Even though it was busy you rarely had to wait for a table in the restaurant. Staff are so pleasant and the reps go out of their way to make youre holiday enjoyable! Definitely recommend

Have given this hotel 4, felt harsh giving 3 as there is nothing majorly wrong with the hotel, it just wasn’t the best all inclusive I have been to. For me the hotel just felt too big, so it lacked personality and some of the areas are not as clean or as well looked after as I had hoped. I don’t want this to put people off at all as it was a nice holiday, but could have been better. The food quality wasn’t great and the rooms were quite tired and not as nice as others I have stayed in, but for £1,200 for 2 weeks all in, you can’t really grumble that much but I wanted to point it out to people. I think for us it was our main holiday of the year so a lot of saving up and waiting for months happened before! I would like to point out though that the beach is absolutely amazing and one of the best beaches I have seen. In addition to this the staff were absolutely lovely.

Pretty but lots of soliciting inside resort and everywhere

Beautiful place but hard to find peace from the constant selling from the locals. Beach perfect but again a barrage of people selling to you. Food was plenty but could be better. Room was great except little maintenance issues like missing drain cover or loose toilet seat. Water was completely out for half day but they fixed it. Air Conditioning worked really well while time. Resort showed NFL playoff games on TV which was appreciated.

Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa- BAD EXPERIENCE

I went to this resort for my best friend's wedding. Food was bad, resort was so big, rooms too far from each other, going to a restaurant or a party was so far. drinks vary from one bar to another, only 2 good bars. Bartenders were sweet, but employees in general did not speak much English. Some spoke French, the AC would turn off and I would wake up drenched. Shampoo/Conditioner smelled back, body wash smelled like Gillette for men. Otherwise, Bathtub was so high, no privacy in shower and washroom, you have a window and you can still see the person's silhouette, in double occupancy and single. Shower head was so far it hurt to shower my hair. anyways all in all, hated the place. But people were nice, if they understood you.
