Mosquitoes and a sub par beach
ERIC S.
May 22 2018
Our room was filled with mosquitoes. We spent about 30 mins per night killing them, but still we're bitten while sleeping. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I killed at least 80 mosquitoes in 3 nights. Warning signs were splattered all over the walls in the form of squashed mosquitoes from previous visitors. The beach was also upsetting. There were large floating piles of red tinted seaweed that littered the water and beach. Only 20% of the beach was swimmable due to large wave breakers that take up most of the water. The wave breakers were what appeared to be mounds of underwater sand with tarps over them. Beyond that, everything was decent. The pools are easily the best part.

Stink
CORY R.
May 17 2018
The sprinkler water smelled like sewer or septic water. For the first 2 hours EVERY morning you would smell sewer. The stench was so disgusting on your walk to breakfast. I can’t get over the smell and how the staff ignored the stench. The Lenard in the outdoor snack shacks on the tables was disgusting also.

Unfortunately the air conditioner leaked onto the floor. We notified the hotel of the problem and the fix was to turn off the air conditioner. It started to get muggy so we turned the AC on and then the water pooled again and my wife then slipped and fell.

The only downside to this resort is the Beach (non-existent). barricaded with some wort of wall...could not swim at all --too rocky also...otherwise, beautiful resort, personnel, went over & beyond to assist you in any way.

Overall, the hotel was very nice. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. The buffet was slightly different each night, and had quite a variety of food choices. I would say the only thing we were bit satisfied was that there was no air conditioning or dehumidifier in the room, so it was always very hot and sticky. The walls are also paper thin, so we could hear absolutely everything everyone else was doing. Other than the room, we had a very nice time. There were a lot of activities at the resort, and there were people there to help schedule our excursions.

Amazing Staff and Grounds!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we had an amazing experience at the Grand Bahia Coba. My family and I were there from April 16th -21st. The staff at the front desk, the bars, the restaurants, the little shuttles, everyone was amazing and extremely helpful. Carlos at the premier lobby was awesome as well. I will definitely be coming back with my wife and 3 girls. ( food was not the greatest but it wasn’t awful either, you get what you pay for, but everyone tries their best to keep everything fresh). Will definitely come back next year.

Viva Mexico!

Stayed at the coba for 2 weeks during May. First of all the complex is huge! Check in was easy we checked in around 4pm and were offered a welcome mojito which was very nice after an hour drive on the coach. The bell boys took our luggage and showed us to our room. Our room was in villa 11b, perfect for us. Nice and quiet but still only a few mins walk from the pool and bars. Nice view over the jungle, and generally a really nice room. The food was fab. By far the best choice I've ever seen at an all inclusive. The buffets have regular themed nights. There is something for even the pickiest eaters. Lots of al a cartes, we tried mikado which was great deffo reccomend a show table, portofini- food and service both fab and cozumel, again great food and outstanding service. The staff really do make this hotel everyone works incredibly hard. Our room was cleaned to a high standard every day, or fridge was always filled and there was always a shuttle driver happy to take us where ever we needed to go. Landy from the main coba buffet was our usual waitress and I can't thank her enough for always doing a fab job and making us feel welcome. Entertainment is great something for everyone from live bands to shows and a good night down the hacienda. The beach was lovely wasn't really bothered by the sea weed some days it was bad others it was not existant and deffo didn't stop us from enjoying the beach or swimming in the sea. The pools were nice however they are really busy, struggled to get a sunbed in the shade after 7am and not normally Andy sunbeds at all after around 9am. This is pretty standard at most hotels I've stayed at. Tours and excursions we booked via the man next to the towel hut much cheaper than TUI and very helpful. I would definitely return. The ground are stunning and I loved seeing all of the wild animals. Take plenty of sunscreen and mosquito repellent you will need it! The hotel staff work incredibly hard and altho you get the same service whether you tip or not of still recommended tipping what you can, they really do deserve it :).

We recently stayed at the Coba for 12 days. The hotel is around 1hr30mins from Cancún airport. On arrival, check in was fairly quick and easy and our luggage was taken to our room for us. Whilst the hotel complex is massive, everywhere was easily accessible using the trolleys which pick you up at various points around the site. Most drivers were very helpful and would go out of their way to take you where you want to go. Our room was lovely, king size bed, very clean, perfectly working air conditioning and fan, and a lovely bathroom. The selection of foods available in this hotel is one of its best features. In the main buffet area, there was so much choice at every meal. Whilst not everything was to our taste, there were so many dishes to choose from you could always find something to enjoy. The service was overall very good in the restaurant, an extra thank you to Jeremias for always making us welcome. For lunch, we tended to visit the snack bar areas around the pools, simply because it was convenient and made a nice change. The snack bars always had a variety of foods, and again there was something for everyone. The a la carte restaurants were lovely, we visited the Mediterranean, the Italian and the Brazilian. The Brazilian is perfect if you are a meat-lover, however my personal favourite was the Italian. We spent time at both of the swimming pools, one being slightly louder and more entertainment focused and one being quieter and more relaxed. Both pools had a swim up bar, although waiting to get drinks was sometimes an issue as there was only ever one barman serving. In order to ensure you have sun beds with the option of shade, it’s a good idea to get down there early in the morning. Although there were plenty of sunbeds, the problem was finding one with an umbrella for shade. Unfortunately we didn’t spend time at the beach, largely due to the huge amounts of sea weed. However, the beaches in Playa del Carmen had the same issue and so we understood it was through no fault of the hotel. We didn’t go on any of the excursions which were advertised so I cannot comment on those. However, my partner did a private sea fishing trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. We did also get a taxi into Playa del Carmen, which was a nice day out although the shops were quite expensive and very tourist orientated. Overall, we had a lovely holiday and I would happily return to this hotel.

Great first visit to Riviera Maya

We went to Riviera Maya for a Wedding and stayed May 12th-19th. The forecast called for rain every day but that didn’t happen so we were very pleased. We arrived around 1:00 and check in was at 3...the rooms were not ready before so we hung out till then. The Hotel is very clean and staff was welcoming with drinks as we waited. The hotel grounds are huge so either expect a lot of walking or taking the trolley. The room was very nice, spacious and clean. Everything functioned properly. The main buffet had a lot of food varieties so if you have picky eaters they are bound to find something they like. We went to two à la carte restaurants, Mushua which was my favourite, the food and service were excellent! And Mikado which is typical teppanyaki but the performance by the chef was awesome and the food was also delicious! The grounds are very well kept. The beach was my least favourite part of this vacation...we love the beach, every morning the staff had to remove truck loads of seaweed from the beach area, I get its not their fault, it’s nature but it kinda sucked, there were also areas that were very rocky and you had to be careful to not stubb your toe, but again it was not terrible it was still a very nice beach and we had a great time! The night club in Hacienda was a lot of fun, there are also some stores and flea market type vendors there, great place to get all your souvenirs and gifts. Overall it was a great experience and we would love to visit this hotel chain again!

You;  Had a great time at this hotel very clean. Plenty of sunbeds on the beach and around the pools. They have several specialised dining options included in the price especially enjoyed the teriyaki however you must book them early as they fill up fast. Small buses to take you around the complex as its to big to walk.
