AMAZING family vacation!
Jan 22 2018
This was our first family trip together, overall we were blown away by this resort. The resort was very clean and we always felt safe. The food was great! The service by all the staff was amazing. Everyone was so welcoming and nice. The pools/beach was clean. There were activities for people of all ages. Apple vacation was a breeze to book with. They were very accommodating when we called to book direct transfer and excursions. We will definitely book with you again!

The Coba property itself is way too busy and crowded, while the Premier is clearly preferred because it's smaller and quieter. However, both hotels basically require that you take a tram to the beach the Coba and Premier properties. Sometimes guests rush the tram and grab all of the seats. One afternoon it took three trams for us to get on board. Food is ordinary, except for a few of the specialty restaurants. The sound system in the Coba theater is set to "10" for maximum ear damage. Why? Nice large rooms in three story buildings.

Lies, confusion, and stress
Jan 18 2018
We were very deceived by this resort through Apple's reviews and website. The resort was NOT on the beach. We had to take a tram to the beach. There was entertainment- some nights, at a different resort, that you had to take a tram to. We never knew what the entertainment was because we had to physically go to the other resort and look at that day's events. No beach, no entertainment, no "nightlife" made for a very disappointing experience. My parents were considering going to the resort after we came home and I told them absolutely not! Save the money and go somewhere else. The staff was not friendly. For people working on tips, you would think they would do their job. I am not asking for above and beyond, but do your job. The buffet was the worst. We would have half of our food gone before someone even came with water or even asked if we wanted a drinkk. We just started bringing our drinks in with us from the bar or room. A little girl face planted of the stairs right next to workers and not a one of the staff turned to check on her. Any time we asked for anything- even a clean fork- it was met with an attitude and as though we were inconveniencing them. Don't even get me started about the smell of the room and how it permeated all of our clothes and (3 weeks later) still has our suitcases smelling. The more time we stayed in the room, the sicker I would feel. The food left much to be desired. The buffet was the worst. Asian night, Canada night, Mexican night had all of the same food. There was the same food all day every day. Sure the desserts switched- but those were not goo either. Our trip was not cheap and we have stayed at resorts on the beach with great staff and entertainment for the same price- go find other resorts and go there! AVOID THIS RESORT!

We returned to Bahia Principle Coba several times and already have booked another week in 2018. It has become our second home; returning when the price is right.

My boyfriend and I had a great stay at the hotel. The service was amazing, and Daniel at Le Gourmet treated us to a very special dinner on one of our nights that we had a reservation. Overall, the food was good and there was plenty of variety. Sometimes it was a little colder than I would have liked, but we didn't always arrive right when the buffet opened so the coolness was expected. A couple of days we had issues with our water and mini bar being restocked per the "all inclusive" perk. The staff was courteous when we called and asked for more waters.

Ala carte food could be better
Dec 27 2017
We went to Cozumel and Mikado for our ala carte dinners and both were mediocre. The food at Cozumel was way too salty and we ate more appetizers than the set dishes which include soup and entree. At Mikado we ordered curry yakitori and steak. Curry yakitori tasted like sugar sauce over bed of rice, which is not what we expected from the usual yakitori (skewer dish). Beef tasted like pork. I think the people seated at the teppanyaki area probably enjoyed themselves more. Miso soup at main dinner buffet was like saltwater. We like the food at snack bar better than the main buffet area. AC in the room wasn’t really working but the ceiling fan helped.

Good Value Overall
Dec 16 2017
Overall a good value, but there are some problems with this property. 1)The property is huge and very difficult to navigate on foot. This requires the use of trams to go almost anywhere. 2)The mixed drinks were terrible. They use cheap booze and some kind of artificial sweetner that just was BAD. There is no drink service at the beach or pools. Only one kind of beer is served-Dos Equis draft and that's it. The house wine is fair at best. You can only eat at the restaurant of your choice three nights of a seven night stay. As a result, you eat at buffets far too much for my taste. Some of the food at the buffets was not sufficiently hot and should not have been served. The staff were terrific and the grounds are well maintained. They must hire an army to keep the place going. Good overall value for the money.

Great value
Dec 14 2017
Great vacation for the money. Areas that could be improved: buffet food was not hot, sometimes not even warm. Everyday the food at the buffets were the same. Very little change from one day to the next. I killed 25 mosquitos in our room in the one week of our vacation. Bitten 6 times for both of us. Really missed having a jacuzzi at the pool. Very limited swimming area at the beaches. The tour sales people did not disclose how long the tours would be and they tried to do too much in one tour and they lasted too long (on the tours we took).

My friends and I stayed at Coba for a week in January. It was such an amazing trip and I didn’t want to leave! The pools and beach are amazing, shows and entertainment were always great and we all loved our rooms and amenities. The staff are so so friendly and lovely - the entertainment staff are awesome. Erick was an excellent dance teacher and so nice. I recommend Coba to anyone but it seemed to be the more fun hotel on the Bahia Principe property where a lot of younger adults were which was nice for us. Love this resort and would definitely return. 💛

Some disappointments on our sixth stay at the Grand Bahia Principe
NYCTraveler60, New Yorik City

I would really have liked to give this review 3 1/2 stars. This was our 6th visit to the resort, 3rd at the Coba. We still enjoyed the beach, pools and food. The resort has always been very well maintained, with beautiful landscaping and everything in good repair. This was the first time I noticed some decline in that regard. Three toilets in public areas were out of order, paint was chipping and cleanliness had slipped. Since our first visit in 2012, the rules have gotten more and more restrictive. No more making restaurant reservations in advance or taking out a bike on your own (you can only go with a guide). But our main complaint was that we were no longer considered "VIP" guests, which we had been on our past couple of visits. It turns out they've changed the rules and you now have to come TEN times to get the gold bracelet/VIP privileges (extra a la carte meals, room service, free golf, champagne and fruit in the room, etc.). This was very disappointing, as my husband wanted to play a round of golf, but we didn't want to spend the extra $200 it would have cost in fees and golf club rental. I'm not sure if we'll be returning to the Grand Bahia Principe.

I came to this hotel with my family over Christmas and New Year 2017-18, and I can honestly say it's the best holiday we have had yet. The absolute highlight of our stay definitely has to be the entertainment staff at the Coba pool. They were brilliant at keeping adults and children entertained at all hours of the day, and especially at the parties at night. A young guy in the entertainment staff called Erick completely made our holiday. All of the kids absolutely loved him as he kept us all involved, and I really don't think the holiday would have been the same without him. The food in the buffet restaurant was great, and the al a cartes were even better. The rooms were of a decent size and cleaned to a good standard. All in all, this has been my favourite holiday I have had, and again the highlight was definitely Erick and the rest of the entertainment team. Thank you Bahia Principe!

Just came back from 7 nights . Had a fabulous time due to the amazing entertainment staff. Erick, Alfredo, Marcus, Enrique and Omar were so much fun. They ensured to invite all guests to the activities, and made sure to make everyone feel welcomed. Buffet was fantastic. Lots of food options for all diets. Wait staff were very attentive. Angel made sure that our group was well looked after. Can't wait to go back :)
