Apple Vacations Traveller Reviews
Another great vacation
We have used Apple for every trip we've taken to Mexico and they have always been great.
Other than food, everything else was great
The common areas and grounds are beautiful, very clean and well maintained. Our room was very dark and had a very strong musty odor. Thankfully we did not spend much time in the room.
Expectations not met
We should have received a honeymoon package as it was stated on our reservation. We never did. We kept asking about it each day, and a day before we left hotel staff deliver a bottle of wine. We have stayed for 10 days. And a honeymoon package should be a bit better than a bottle of cheap wine. Hotel did not clean the beach at all. Beach was full of sea grass, it was covered in sea grass, and smelled very bad.
Everyone was very nice and helpful. There were a few problems. The room was not ready until 3:00pm, which is probably standard, but I wish I would have prepared a little better for that. The temperature in the room was hard to control and there were no additional blankets. The maid service during the day was very good, however we wouldn't receive turn down service every evening. Besides those couple of things, we had a really great time! The food and pool were very nice. Thanks so much!
Big, Clean and Happy
Staff was very attentive. Hotel was very clean and grounds well groomed. 6 out of 7 dinners were great especially the french restaurant. No breakfast items available thru room service, No food at pool side but plenty of drinks. Food and drinks were at beach, Honore bar well stock and change to my taste. Bombay Safire gin available on request. Apple staff was terrible in time management and respect for my time. Estimate were never close and when we try to clarify for the next days tour they did not care!
A WONDERFUL experience
This was a late honeymoon for us and we absolutely loved our experience. Upon arriving the lobby is air conditioned and a cup of lemonade is offered to all guests. We were taken to our rooms, which are in great condition. we had a room that was really close to the El Tapitio restaurant, the pools, and the beach. We thought that the Maya buffet was better than the Lindo buffet, and we also appreciated the menu options. I ordered off the lunch menu there once and was very pleased with the food, and the buffet was always delicious. We visited the Japanese restaurant, the steakhouse, the mediterranean restaurant, and the gourmet restaurant. All of these restaurants offered great service and the food was also delicious. Our favorites were the gourmet restaurant and the Japanese restaurants. We would recommend always going to a la carte restaurants for dinner, as we preferred them to the buffet for dinner.
We also enjoyed the plaza area, we got crepes and ice cream one night and tacos when the main dining was closed and we were hungry.
The StarFriends activities are also great if you are looking for some exercise and are more of the active type of vacationer. We enjoyed the beach volley ball and soccer, and also did the pool aerobics one day. The StarFriends are so freiendly and good at encouraging people to join in and make the activities fun.
Lastly, all of the other staff here are GREAT as well! We were always greeted with smiles and greetings whether it be the cleaning staff, or bar tenders, or servers. We loved our Concierge Elisabeth as well, she was always so excited to see us and greet us. She made us feel right at home, and was helpful with anything we need.
The only negative thing I could say was that there were a lot of people on the beaches and pools, and it was difficult to find beach chairs during prime hours. That said, we usually could find something, and if there was nothing at the beach, we would go to the pool where we could always find a seat, it may not be your first choice of seats. While these areas are busy however, if you want a nice quiet area with some privacy, there are a lot of other nice places to relax together, and we didn't find this too much of a frustration.
Overall we were very pleased with our trip and would definitely consider coming back in the future. The staff here were one of the biggest things we could not stop talking about during our whole trip. We fully recommend the Maya!
Awesome week in Mexico
The wife and I just got back from a week in Mexico and had a fantastic time! The resort made a few changes, bottled water at most of the bars to make people feel more comfortable. We sampled our fair share of the liquors and beer at the pool/beech/lobby bars and had no issues! The food was great as always and I never once felt like I was going to be kid napped. Great time!
Firstly, let me say that our resort was absolutely beautiful. The grounds were well kept. I do feel that the beach front could have been better maintained. It seemed as if the section in front of the "adults only" section of the resort was better maintained than the more "family" oriented portion. Our section was overcome with seaweed. The staff was very warm and friendly and accommodating. Where I had issues were with the food and liquor. One of the larger bars near the wave pool was very slow in service and did not get one order right. The bartenders did not acknowledge you when you approached the bar, even to say, "I'm sorry we are really busy, please give us a minute." They just seemed to ignore you and once they did acknowledge you, did not listen to you order and got it wrong. I was not impressed with the food at all at this resort; it was truly disappointing. I understand that it is an all inclusive resort and to a certain extent you expect the food to be average but I felt the food was sub-par. The only restaurant that was good was the Japanese restaurant, with the steak restaurant coming in close 2nd. We were really disappointed with the Mexican restaurant (baffled). I ended up sticking with wine because the liquor had a bad taste and everything seem watered down. I will say that the staff was so friendly and everyone says hello. Anytime we needed something or had issues with something, they did all they could to resolve the problems. The room was pretty dated and the tub pretty gross. We had security in our room 4-5 times to reset our safe because it kept breaking down. They sprayed for mosquitoes during the day but by nightfall new groups swarmed around our door and flew into our room. We spent a lot of tome killing mosquitoes. Also, we went to a show at the Lindo and in the outside auditorium where the show was help, it was sweltering. No fans, nothing to circulate the air which made it really difficult to sit out and enjoy the show. It's a really big resort and it is beautiful but it really needs to work on somethings. I don't know if I would refer this resort, it had some good qualities but that just did not surpass the bad.
Place, maid (jennifer) , staff, were great! Excellent for kids, food could be better especially the buffets but it was good! Only thing i did not like was when checking out on our last day you spent that 8th day in the airport instead of the resort. But i would highly recommend!
Iberostar Paraiso Maya
2nd time at the Maya--outstanding resort--would definitely go again. Have ben to the Lindo twice and the Grand Paraiso twice

Iberostar Paraiso Maya
We had an amazing time visiting this resort. All of the staff appeared to work very hard and efficiently. The landscaping and the cleanliness was excellent. However, the staff at the front desk are very insistent on scheduling a breakfast with patrons to review investing in the resorts
Great resort, but not what we expected.
We just returned from a 10 day stay at the Paraiso Maya. The staff at the resort were all awesome, always smiling and wanting to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We stayed in building 63, which we found was a good location for us since we don't mind walking and are used to being in bigger resort complexes. Our room was a junior suite with a pool view. It had tons of space, good sized bathroom. It was always super clean, the bar fridge well stocked with beer, water, etc.
The resort has a good layout, and it only took us a couple of days to get familiar with where things are located.
The pools were always well cleaned and the grounds were immaculate wherever you walked. The beach areas had lots of papalas to choose from. We did see staff members removing towels from unattended beach chairs. There were little notes on each papala warning about reserving chairs. Every resort says the same thing, but this is the first time we've ever seen it enforced.
The gym facilities are top notch, the best selection of equipment we have seen in our 12 trips to the Mayan.
Our biggest disappointment was with the food quality and selection, especially at the a la cartes. They were more of a buffet-style and we always felt rushed to eat and leave.
There were quite a few times where some of the food trays were left under the heat lamps a little too long; this was pretty consistent with breakfast and lunch as well.
Overall this is a good resort, great location between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, but I doubt we would return.
Great place to visit. Awesome beach that is well maintained (seaweed cleaned up every morning. Ruben, the beach concierge, is super friendly and accommodating to all guests. Regina works hard all day to keep you hydrated on the beach. Didn't use the pool a ton, but it was massive and cleaned every night. Good variety of food options. Room was very nice and cleaned every morning. The resort staff is amazing and very friendly. Located only 30-45 minutes from the airport. Would recommend this resort to anyone in the future.
Wonderful vacation at Iberostar Paraiso Maya.
Our room was located in building 60 which is next to the pool and close to the beach. Two room suite with large bathroom that had double sinks, jacuzzi tub and shower. Beds were very comfortable Luis kept our room spotless and well stocked with water, clean towels, etc.and Bety prepared our room before bedtime. All staff was very accomodating and friendly. Concierge at each building to assist with any needs and make dinner reservations. Food was pretty good and in abundance with a variety of restaurants and buffets to be found throughout the complex. Lots of pools and activities during the day and shows every night. Golf carts to take you around if you didn’t want to walk. There is a shopping area, exercise room, tennis, nightclub and casino located on the complex. Chairs on the beach were reserved early in the morning. If you went later in the day, all were taken. Swim up bar at the large pool which also had ice cream shop located above. Grounds were well kept by hardworking staff who seemed to like working there. Enjoyed every minute and hated to leave.

4th trip to Iberostar and the thing that stood out the most the last 3 times was the employees and service.
Employees and service: Excellent, they do a great job and are professional. Iberostar does a fantastic job of hiring people friendly employees and everyone we met had a positive, I want to please attitude.
Check in 2:30 pm was good. Went and ate a good lunch and came back, nice room in 60 building. Air worked great, room was cleaned very well, no problems.
Beach: love this beach and this is main reason I came back. NICE water and even with seaweed coming in hard a few days the water was mostly clear and awesome! I love that beach there!
Beach chairs and palapas was ridiculous, not the fault of the resort. We found chairs everyday and a few days moved in on palapas where shade was as 2 chairs had towels on them for hours with no one there. We moved their chairs in sun and we took shade. Being a big country boy the unknown "claimers" never said a word upon their returns! It got worse when we did find 2 chairs one day as there were no palapas available and an Iberostar employee came and told us we were a few feet, literally maybe 6 feet, too far towards the beach. And he told us we had to move the chairs back. I asked him why and he had a security guard with him, felt bad for that guy as he looked embarrassed by the entire thing. Made matters worse when we saw others doing same thing and they weren't ever asked to move. Another young couple in front off us another day were run off being 8 feet too far out. That man was unhappy also being that the people that occupied those chairs for 4 hours before him and his girlfriend moved there had no one ask them to leave. Iberostar needs to speak with that guy as he was not polite. No excuse as the one given was bogus.
Beach service: Fantastic! All employees exceptional and hard working. Cold drinks and the hamburgers and fries were good.
Ala cart restaurants: I am sorry but they are all hat and no cattle. I feel bad for the staff. Seafood over cooked. Steaks poor quality. "Gourmet" restaurant nice place, the lobster appetizer was very good. Fish dish was average if that, shrimp dish was farm raised shrimp, no taste. Great presentation but the food was not even average. Real problem. Mexican restaurant same thing. Steak same flank steak all over. Average if that. Soup weak. Service: Excellent
Buffets: good with exceptions. Kids running wild and picking up food and putting it back. Need supervision in there. Service: Excellent. Had to ask for butter knife everywhere we went and often there weren't any spoons for salad dressings. Repetitive, appetizers and tuna and salmon appetizers very good. We found things to eat. Breakfasts good. Great service.
Food: C if that, hate that but they have an issue with the quality of the meat and dinner meals.
Appears the focus now here is on The Grand and Club Premier.
Again, the employees that work at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya are excellent people and employees. Smiles and they like to make your stay enjoyable. They made our much needed vacation a good one. THANK YOU!!!Very refreshing daily to see all of them going out of their way to make us tourists happy. I give them all a 5 star rating!!!
