Great for family adventures
My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon with Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. The staff was phenomenal, especially Nestor and Alba. The restaurants were delicious. The only gripe we had was that this resort is set up more for families with kids than just couples. A majority of the activities were set up for kids and the pool area was not really a place to relax with children running and splashing everywhere. Next time we would definitely choose to pick the Grande of Iberostor because we love the people of the resort but we don't want to be surrounded by all of the kids.
Love this Resort
This was the sixth time at this resort and even more enjoyable than the previous five. The food was better, with even more variety than ever. The activity staff is great, especially the head of the staff, Gilmor, who is also the emcee at most night's entertainments. The entertainment is significantly better than the past. The Christmas eve dinner was fantastic along with the way the buffet area was decorated. I have recommended this resort to many of my friends and upon returning from their vacations, have thanked me for the recommendation. By the way, the entry into the Iberostar complex, is just beautiful.
First of all, let me start off by saying that we love this resort and the hard working staff, and this is why we keep coming back.
My husband and I have been traveling to this resort since 2012 and each time we have stayed in building 53, room 83, facing the pool. When I booked this trip, I immediately contacted the resort and requested the same room. I know that there are NO guarantees, but it worked in the past. This visit, we were housed in building 51, room 11, which is a first floor, corner room, facing the Beach resort. HATED IT!!! The safe didn't work upon arrival and security had to be called on two different occasions to address the problem, the TV had to be re-programmed, and you had to "jiggle" the toilet handle to keep it from running after each flush. After dinner on the first night, we returned to our room to find that someone entered and turned-down the sheets and left chocolates and linens on the floor to wipe your feet prior to getting into bed. ALL OF THIS WAS ANNOYING!!!!! The amount of traffic at this corner/intersection was mind-boggling. Construction vehicles, delivery trucks, resort carts, it was non-stop. On our last night, around 1:30am, we heard someone trying to get into our room. Scary. Our flight back to Baltimore was scheduled for a 1:30pm departure. We were picked up at 9:10am and arrived at the airport at 10:00am. We stood in line for 1 hour before any agents from Alaska Airlines arrived to start the check in process. Needless to say, we enjoyed our stay, no as much as previous times, but will return.
A really good place
We had four previous stays at the neighboring Paraiso Playa and del Mar, which we really like, but the Lindo is a step up, with a wave pool and a lazy river added to the other swimming pools. Food service was excellent. And there were plent of chairs at the pool, thanks to the hotel policy of not allowing people to "reserve" a chair by leaving a towel on it at 6 a.m. The Paraiso complex is a great place to stay and you can't go wrong with any of their resorts there.
The resort is way to big! It takes 10+ min to get anywhere walking, they have a shuttle but you have to wait for it. Food was not great either.
Pros: Friendly staff; beautiful room & grounds, spacious swimming pools
Cons: The food was not very good and there are some minor maintenance problems in the rooms. We had to have our safe repaired twice. There were problems a 3rd time but we changed the combination to numbers that still worked on the safe. The toilet need maintenance, the hall light went out and was not fixed, and the refridgerator was warm.
Good except food.
Everything exceded our expectations except for the temperature of the food. Pool, Beach, Bars, Room, and the facilities themselves were great. The Japanese food was wonderful. All the hot food items on the buffets were at best luke warm. Our dining experience would have been way more enjoyable if the hot foods were even warm,
Most acomidating and friendly staff! The food was excellent bartenders did a great job of surving drinks. This family will definitely be back!
This was our first ever out of country or all inclusive trip. So I have nothing to compare to keep in mind... my husband and I were here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. And we LOVED it. It's already decided we will come back and bring the kids next time. The maid service was excellent, food was super good at the buffets and the 4 alacart restaurants we ate at. With our favorite being Japanese and least favorite the steak house. In all fairness the steak was cooked to perfection just lacked flavor/seasoning for us. The entrainment was fun to watch and participate in. The beach was superb. And drinks were plentiful at all the bars and the beach. These people work their butts off to make sure you have a good time and we liked to tip them to let them know it's appreciated. Overall Epic vacation. We will be back.
I love the place, most of the people in the hotel are very helpful, I met a lot of people that help us a lot like Hugo, Tony and other people that I can't remember their names.GREAT PLACE!!
Not allot of Luxury but nice
No as luxury as other resorts but good. Hotel over all needs update, furniture in the room getting old and signs of damage. Shower ok, toilet good but the mirror and lights need update. Safe in the room needed batteries when we got there. The TV in the bedroom was not working. I called and they did replace quickly. Attention to details is very important. The main pool has a bar, good. The other pools no service or very little service, you have to look for someone to help. Finally, you cant leave your things by the pool. The resort has a policy to have security pick you unattended items. I found this very strange, we had items taken and had to see security to retrieve them. States that unattended items are picked up. Strange because there were plenty of pool chairs.

We stayed for a week and it was the most relaxing time weâve had in a while. Kids 5 and 8. The 8 year old LOVED the kids club and didnât want to leave. My 5 year old had a harder time leaving us but liked it once she went. Itâs nice because kids club is open 9:30am- 10:30 pm! So we were able to go to dinner one night and not worry about the kids. The star staff there is amazing! Hats off to the entertainment staff because they do so great with the shows and the kids and everything in between!
Tip for the maid: first night we left $5 and asked for more water- she left us about 5/6 giant bottles of water each night which was nice when we went off the property. After that we left like $2 and she still did amazing even brought a gift for my girls the last day- handmade nitted hats! A little goes a long way!
The only complaint I have is there is only a few outlets and no updates for usb ports. We had to unplug lamps to charge our phones.
The food was great there. The beach was amazing. Pool bar fabulous. Rooms- comfortable. Building 51 was perfect in the middle. You can request a building ahead of time as well as two dinner reservations up to 2 weeks in advance. The property is clean and beautiful. So much to do!!
Pretty Good for the Price we Paid!
In our recent winter holiday our family, along with 2 other families (kids ages 9-12), went down to the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo in the Mayan Riviera, about 30 min south of the Cancun Airport and about 10-15 minutes north of Playa Del Carmen. I spent a lot of time checking out hotels on Trip Advisor and Expedia to find a good all-inclusive that would give the kids a lot to do while also giving the adults everything they needed as well, all while being a reasonable price. I realize âreasonableâ means different things to different people, but once all was said and done, Expedia had a 1 day sale that brought down the price of this resort for a family of 4 to $6400 total, or $1600/person, which included 7 nights of all-inclusive fun and direct flights from Calgary to Cancun through Westjet. Yes, I, along with others, have spent less than that on all-inclusives but we left on New Yearâs Day, and the prices were generally in the $7500-8000 range so $6400 felt like a deal and we all jumped on it.
The Iberostar Paraiso Lindo is one of those massive 5 hotel complexes where if you book certain hotels you have access to the other hotels amenities, and the Lindo, along with the Paraiso Maya, gives you access to 4 out of the 5 hotels. The âlesserâ hotels (which quite frankly certainly looked the same) are the Del Mar and Beach and people who book there cannot use the restaurants at our hotel or get drinks at our poolâŚif the staff is paying attention. The grand poohbah of the resort is the Paraiso Grand and it gives you access to everything. Once all is said and done these hotels and pool are so big you typically stick to your area and have more than enough to do without wandering to the other complexes, except for the odd a la carte restaurant in the evening.
So did everyone like the place and have a great time? The answer is YES â no doubt about itâŚwe could nitpick little things here and there but the general attitude of all 12 people on the trip is that we would certainly go back as it ticked off nearly every box that we look for in an all-inclusive vacationâŚhere are some of those boxes:
⢠IT WAS CLEAN â the staff worked hard every day keeping the property spic and span from garbage, debris and anything you wouldnât want to walk by or through on a regular basis. Ceramic tile was constantly waxed and wooden walkways around the lobbies were probably over-varnished (be careful of tearing your Achilles if they are a little wet)
⢠WIFI NEARLY EVERYWHERE â first time I havenât either had to go to the lobby or pay an enormous amount per device to get Wi-Fi in your room. There were a couple of dead spots on the property but it worked everywhere from the beach to the mall closest to the highway so that ainât bad. One of our friends turned off their data for the trip and never had to use it because of the great Wi-Fi coverage
⢠KIDS STAYED BUSY â between the kids club, wave pool, regular pools, the beach and more, rarely were the kids bored â if the kids are happy, the parent drink just that much moreâŚnow the lazy river they have is really cold and really lazy so that was a non-factor but most things went over pretty well with the kids. It took a while to figure out that they had 2 kids club activity schedules â one for ages 4-6 and one for 7-12 â once we all figured that out they used the kids club more but the first few days I think we were all looking at the younger schedule and no one wanted to do anything there
⢠CAFES and ICE CREAM INCLUDED in SEVERAL PLACES â not just at the buffets and restaurants, but they had a mall just outside of the lobby that had 2 places for ice cream, and nice cafĂŠ for you coffee drinkers, crepes, a great taco joint and a hamburger diner (didnât try it) that were all included in the all-inclusive priceâŚice cream can also be found near each pool bar and there was a great relaxing cafĂŠ for the end of the day over in the Maya complexâŚI know, little things, but everyone got their fill every day
⢠ALL THOSE MEXICAN TRASH PANDASâ I like wild life on vacation, even Mexican trash pandas, or are they are known in the area, coatis. We found it amazing that we have been to Mexico numerous times and had never seen a coati until 2 years ago at Xel-Ha and then we come here and there are literally dozens everywhere, plus iguanas, peacocks and some rat looking thing on steroids (didnât get a pic of that â looked like it wanted to eat my camera)
⢠EASY TO FIND a DRINK â tonnes of bars everywhere, plus a great sports bar, and a stocked fridge â Iâm just sobering up now
Now it wasnât perfect and I said I wouldnât nitpick and Iâm not going to â Iâm just going to point out a couple of shortcomings â letâs call them our âweâre spoiled and have 1st world problemsâ:
⢠No snorkeling â the beach was nice â great soft white sand, and CRAZY busy, but nice and generally the waves were good to mess around in, but the water north of Playa del Carmen is not snorkeling water â you can go on a snorkeling trip pretty easily but Iâve been to resorts where you just step into the ocean and see all kinds of sea creatures for free â this is NOT one of those resortsâŚwe also got to see the brown seaweed that Iâve read about on TripAdvisor reviews â it wasnât a big deal as we kept walking until we found a clear spot in the water and played there. Overall though the water was fun, just not âthereâs a sea turtle over there!â fun
⢠No Elevator in our 3 story building in the Lindo â sure call me lazy for having to do stairs all week but again, it makes a difference. I canât say all buildings with rooms only had stairs but I sure can tell you complex 55 at the Lindo has no elevator
⢠Food was above average, but not by much and not all the time. It was easily edible, no one starved (in fact some pairs of pants in our group went un-worn due to the fact they must have shrunk in the luggage on the way downâŚor something like that) and some of the a la carte restaurants were really good (although every one we went to still had a buffet of some kind, whether it be the salad bar, dessert bar or both â there was never a place where it felt like a completely higher end experience) but I wouldnât put the food at the Iberostar as something they should put on the front page of their brochure.
Serious changes required!
This was our first visit to an Iberostar resort. we have visited a number of resorts, various locations and are always aware of the compromises when travelling without all the comforts of home and have lower expectations when staying in 4 and 5 star resorts in tropical locations. However, there are a few things that spoil a Mexican resort vacation: amenities, service, food quality and drink quality.
We spent 10 days as a group of 10nat this resort over the New Year. We expected the resort to be busier than when we typically visit Mexico but it wasnât crowded at all.
1. Our welcome. It is a big resort, with shared services of other resorts. A better introduction of all amenities, a better map, list of activities would be very helpful. We were unsure where we could or couldnât go, would have loved helpful hints about quiet pools, etc.
2. There are signs and notices everywhere about not reserving lounge chairs and yet they were ignored. Not entirely necessary with the number of guests when we visited but annoying - if you donât enforce it why bother with the signs? At the beach it appeared to be largely staff reserving seats to earn tips.
3. The rooms was average but noisy. Resorts like this could do a far better job of ensuring rooms are stocked with functioning items: our mini safe, coffee maker, ac and card access system malfunctioned during the trip. The tub drain was plugged with hair. On the plus side, the cleaning staff were incredibly attentive when we asked for assistance. The rooms are also noisy, lots of hall noise, scraping chairs. Some resorts do a really good job of family buildings and adult buildings, not this one.
4. Poolside service was largely non-existent unless sitting right next to the bar. Lounge service wasnât much better - too few wait staff, again attentive and friendly when they did have time to serve us.
5. Drink quality overall was disgusting. There were a few exceptions, for example if we went up to the bar, asked for a drink made with bottled brand name alcohol and coached and watched it being made, it was okay. Drinks are watered down (very low alcohol content), use syrups that contain artificial sweeteners and have odd tastes. As an example, a mimosa with Tang laced with some kind of weird sweetener just doesnât taste good. We ended up going off the resort, buying real orange juice and making our own.
6. We did have some good meals in the specialty restaurants: the Japanese restaurant and the Mexican restaurant were good but we experienced some disappointments such as lovely grilled tuna with beef gravy, some delicious grilled scallops over rice with beef mixed in it, jambalaya sweetened with artificial sweeteners and way undercooked steak. On the plus side, we donât typically like buffets however the main one was a pleasant surprise with great variety and decent quality.
Overall, a wonderful opportunity to relax and spend time with family and we certainly made the most of the weather but there are some major changes required before we visit another iberostar resort.
Rating buttons donât work. Service: 2, value: 1, sleep quality: 2
Wonderful New Year !
We just returned from Iberostar Lindo on January 6 having welcomed the New Year at this exceptional resort. It was not our first visit there and we were delighted that the same high quality has been maintained over the years.
There are so many good things to mention but a real highlight was the Iberostar band performance on New Yearâs Eve. Led by the inspired guitarist Mathias they covered hits by many different bands such as The Beatles, Guns and Roses, ZZ Top etc. The seven person band was also featured in some of the other evening shows demonstrating great versatility in different musical styles.
Also deserving very special mention is the Kids Club. Our nine year old grandson spent many enjoyable hours in a wide range of activities. But it was the care and attention from all members of the Kids Club staff that was so impressive. And with only 25 minutes rehearsal each day they prepared large numbers of children for nightly stage shows, including Circus night, Mini Grease etc. The performances were wonderful and were enjoyable and memorable highlights for both participants and parents.
Iberostar staff could not be more attentive and friendly. Everwhere guests are welcomed by smiles and âholas.â The resort is exceptionally well maintained and impeccably clean. One special feature was the creative artwork in towels every day in our room where Dalia managed to make a new display every day!
Others may provide comments about the food, different restaurants and bars but suffice to say there is great variety and high quality.
We will certainly return to Iberostar Lindo whenever we seek a true family vacation!
We had a wonderful and the resort was beautiful. So we found that when we arrived a lot of the restaurant reservations were already booked. I guess I could have booked 2 by emailing ahead of time by emailing concierge firstname.lastname@example.org. But in all reality, we actually liked the food at the buffet better than the restaurants (except the Japanese/hibachi...soooo much fun and good food)...which I thought I would never hear myself say. But the buffet was fabulous and had a huge variety and kind staff! Some of the bartenders seemed a little crabby if you didn't give them a tip, I would only say about 2-3 of the bar tenders acted like this. Unfortunately we went there with $100s, I totally forgot to get $1's before we arrived. One even left my brothers and husband's drinks at the other end of the bar and never even gave them to them, a waitress grabbed the drinks for them. We did Xplor and loved it, cave swim, cave paddle, zip lines)! Pool was a little chilly, even for us (who live in MN)...hoovered right around 80 degrees sometimes with a little wind. But if you stayed in, it was doable. A hot tub would have been great, but probably full. We had fun playing ping pong and volleyball. It would have been great if they had a planned kids or teens volleyball. Our girls kind of felt left out because adults (mainly males) took over the courts. đ Rooms were beautiful. They stocked the kids rooms with sweets and sodas, but didn't seem to get everyday towards the end. We were near the pool and our porch was nice and big.đ The beach was lovely and the food court/bar/ice cream down there was perfect for all! We bought a boogie board at the resort and couldn't get our youngest out of the water. Decent waves. The activity staff was super (especially Charlie)! My brother and sister in law won the couple show. My husband wasn't super into the shows, some I was iffy on, but he could go to the sports bar. Our 8 yr old was totally drawn to the little kid show before the adult one. The restaurant staff in the buffet was also super! I wish we would have gone over the store area a bit more, short walk from the the resort. Lost of stores, free coffee, free ice cream. And we should have gone into playa del carmen to walk around but we kind of drank by the pool and played vball on the beach and got pooped. Lomas was definitely great to have on the return. They helped us navigate the airport.
