Great resort, with excellent service, food, drinks, and hospitality. My wife and I will definitely return!!!
Unsatified with my stay
I was very unhappy with my stay. The check in process was horrible it took an approx 2 hrs for me to check in after waiting for over 30 mins and no one would assist me. We were told that they have a BBQ for apple guest which they never had and we were unable to make reservation at an restaurants. The communication from the hotel staff was horrible. 93% off the staff was rude. I called numerous times to get my fridge refilled and for extra blankets and towels never received. My son dropped a bottle in the balcony and broke called for service 3 times and finally someone came but left half of the broken bottle so we didn't use the balcony the rest of our stay. We had a leak in our room over my sons bed we called complained no one ever showed up. I have a video of it. Booked an excursion and the representative gave me wrong prices. Not a good experience with hotel. Btw it wasn't a language barrier because I speak Spanish.
Staff does not speak English. More cool ncerned to sell you additional packages
Grand Pallidium Bavaro
The hotel room was below average. The first room we got smelled like mold. We were moved to another, which smelled a little better. The facility is old and is in need of updates. The beds weren't comfortable and the pull out sofa was a joke. My kids couldn't even sleep on it so all 6 of us squished in two beds. The staff was nice and pleasant, but too many people pushing to constantly sell you stuff. I think this hotel had a 5 star apple rating. At most I would give it two star. Beaches were nice though and the restaurants that you book reservations for were good. We all liked the Spanish, Japanese, and Italian.
Place was beautiful and beach was amazing unfortunately my entire family (5 ofus) got sock with a stomach bug. Not sure if it was caused by the ice or food at one of the restaurants.
My biggest complaints were the beds in the rooms are too small. Two adults cannot sleep comfortably in a double bed. Queen sized beds are a must. The pull out sofa is a joke. Only people 4' tall can fit otherwise your legs hang off the bottom. It's more like a futon than a pull out sofa. The waitstaff at the buffets needs serious improvement. It takes multiple requests for beverages/coffee before anyone comes to the table. You're not allowed to get up and go get your own coffee or water. Most tables of four are set for only two people so there is never enough silverware, napkins, glasses, ect for a family of four. Dirty tables are rarely cleared so you can't find a clean table to sit at. The buffet restaurants need a lot of work in general.
Food so bad you wouldn't want to stay here
Yes, the beach is stunning and the drinks are strong. But you can get that at countless resorts. The food was so poor that we would not return. Everyone we met at our hotel had the same opinion of the food. We even met a couple who left the resort for restaurants in town since the food was so lacking. The only good meal was at Sumptuori but we ended up with food poisoning that ruined our last three days. So frustrating! Now to the Amstar service. A nice bus takes you from the airport to the resort. You get tips and are told a designated time to meet your Amstar rep to get your shuttle departure time. This actually ends up being a sales pitch for excursions and after the meeting they make you come back again to get your departure pick up time. We did want a short excursion and Luis told us the Scape Park with two activities would keep us away for about 4 1/2 hours. Well, that trip kept us away for 8 1/2 hours where three of those hours were spent on the bus picking up and dropping off passengers. The downtime continued before, during, and after each event at the Scape Park. This was a definite disappointment that we would not recommend. Too much downtime, so much longer than told and it was just a crowded tourist trap.
calender of events
the resort did not hand you a schedule of events nor did they tell you where you could find it. It was is the middle of the week until we located the schedule which was not even near the lobby. Also the front desk did not even tell us there was an ice machine in our villa area. The front desk seemed very overwhelmed and uninformed.
Grand Palladium Punta Cana
Food poising, huge construction on the middle of resort, noise and cars working on remodeling, seeing rat and cockroach (buffet) , smelling segarets smocks room , all ways unhappy faces bartenders, every day the same food in buffet and big lanes in a restaurants, the construction worker was whispering stooped comments, when we were passing them going into the pool.In the pool my son cut his palm very deep ,was a lot of blood (ages in the pool was missing tiles and was sharp) and beautiful beach...I don't think so I will ever come back for all of it!
We had a group of 24 come to Punta Cana. Our personal service was excellent. The only problem I think most of us had was being pestered on the beach by too many vendors. They were very nice but there were way too many. The entertainment could have been better with notifications of when and where they were being held. I think we should have gotten a week list of what was going on instead of notes passed under the door the day before. Other than that it was a very pleasant trip. Lenny was very good to all of us!!! She sure knew her job.
Punta Cana 2017
We were pleased AGAIN with the Grand Bavaro Suites and everything around and about our vacation. Once the rain stopped, we had a great time, the weather was terrific! The only thing that hindered our arrival was that it was a local holiday, it was pouring down rain, and apparently the hotel had overbooked because even though we had booked our reservation MONTHS prior to arriving, we ended up in a room on the ground floor 2 buildings away from my sister and her husband. We were not happy about that and asked to be relocated and had to wait until the next day, which meant we could not unpack on the 1st day there. After that, the trip was great! Love Punta Cana and love Palladium resorts!

We had our annual "Girl's Trip" here. We stayed at building 19, which was facing the beach with Junior Suite swimup rooms. We dined at the Spanish tapas restaurant, The Chanterrelle, the Indian restaurant along with dinner on the beach on our last night. We were blessed with traditional dancers and fire dancers. It was fantastic.
The service was top notch, food was delicious and the grounds kept well.
Not sure I can top this vacation. Ever!
Another Fantastic Holiday Here
We stayed at Bavaro from 3rd September until 17th September. We travelled with our son and daughter in law. My son is a vegetarian and was so surprised how much choice he had in the restaurants and how tasty the meals were, in particular the Bhogali Indian restaurant. He has eaten many Indian meals but said it was the best he had tasted. Again, the staff were excellent and go out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable. From the cleaning staff, gardeners, waiters & management. Especially as we were about to experience the biggest hurricane (Irma). The management worked tirelessly to ensure our safety, moving us to safe property which was protected. Thankfully it didn't hit as hard as other Islands in the Caribbean but the resort was back to normal with the sun shine within 2 days, you would never dream that a hurricane had hit. The cleaning staff are always cleaning and the toilets are well looked after and smell nice. We are going back in November as we know the service, food and facilities are excellent.
excellent swim up at seafront
Stayed here early september 2017. Upgraded for some extra pay from luxury junior suite to the swim up suite.
Swim up suites are excellent, nice sea/ beach view, terras with access to pool and private outdoors jaccusi. also indoor bath with jaccussi. room spacious, plenty space for babybed. Good roomservice, for little tip extra amounts of excellent coffee for coffeemaker and all the drinking water you want. Good shower, excellent bed, excellent wifi.
Pools are clean and have plenty of sunbeams to choose from, fine beach, just a lot of seaweed this time of year.
Restaurants all very good, buffet offers wide choice, very good for lunch and breakfast. 8 ala carte restaurants with excellent food, no need for reservations and when you eat a bit early no need to wait for table. Staff overall friendly and helpful, just a lot of people trying to sell excursions, souvenirs and membership of holiday club.
we had not such a good start in the luxury junior suite 3rd floor, on arrival electricity was not working well, jaccussi on roof terras was not working, just 1 little bottle bottle of water for family of 3 including baby, pre-reserved babybed was not there, just a sofa bed. it took 2 1/2 hrs and 5 phonically to get water and babybed and repairmen for jaccussi bath. we complaint next day to TUI hostess/ rep. Stephanie who talked to guest relations staff member Orian, they offered excuses and option to upgrade for little extra pay to the swim up the next day. We agreed and the rest of the holiday was excellent.
We also booked helicopter flight at helidosa, flying over the hotel which was wonderful. Mimibar comes with very good local beer Presidente and the local coffee santo Dominco is also one to remember.
NOT FOR FAMILIES
March 2017 2 adults - 2 children (2 year old and 4 month old) - Junior suite
Room - disgusting, unclean and outdated, arrived and on the first night and when I woke up to do the babies night feed there was cockroaches around the coffee percolator and the babies thankfully sealed unopened powdered milk carton. An experience that I will never forget. Also to point out, we arrived at around 3pm and waited for the babies cots until 10pm until we were literally begging them to come and sort it out because they just wanted to go to sleep. This room we had been given was not the room that we thought we had paid for from the description on the website - it just ruined our whole trip as we wasn't comfortable in that space at all. Air condition unit leaking, walls stained and rooms not cleaned every day.
Staff - a mixed bag. There are so many staff it's hard to making an overall judgement, some people was lovely and couldn't have been kinder to us especially the buffet restaurant staff but others like when asking for a kettle in the room (to make the babies bottles) pretending not to speak English??? Rude! When continually ringing up to see where our baby cots where they would get angry with us for bothering them?? Bizarre. Also lots of staff wanting you to sign up to the travel club so continually getting hassled to go on their tour or take part in their meetings then being out right rude when we would politely decline. Also if you are part of their travel group you get treated noticeably a lot better than those who aren't... dining reservations, premium spirits compared to local spirits, even more comfortable sun loungers on a segregated beach area... it's a joke.
Food - Nice food, buffets are amazing, Chinese, Italians etc are all attempting that style of food but its not really what we would know as Chinese so not that enjoyable etc. Rodizo was very nice.
Pool - Lots of pools to choose from, children's pool has no cover, in fact couldn't find a pool with a shaded area. Often pools would be dirty at the bottom with lots of flies / insects floating around too.
Entertainment - live music is available but then other bizarre entertainment advertised like 'Olympic baby races' ... couldn't even make that one up. This hotel sells itself directly to families but there was no family entertainment, its all on this time table and the website but when you show up its not on.
Resort - resort is clean apart from the rooms! Beach is amazing, lots of seaweed but there are always sun beds/ towels available and beach bars to get a drink. Mainly South American people staying in this hotel (then Americans) which meant our little boy couldn't make a friend because they all spoke Spanish. Resort shops - very expensive.
On the whole - i'm sure you could have a nice time if you was in a couple, older or single but this is not a place for young families as the websites seem to advertise. The price and the rating is just not realistic. We spent a year saving up, get one holiday a year, paid a stupid amount and it was just so disappointing. I really wish we had booked somewhere is...
I would strongly NOT recommend this hotel.
Property is very clean and decent. Lot of hard work is visible to keep it up to date
Service - Hit and miss.
Rooms - Ok. We had Junior Suites. They were clean and comfy
Food - Needs a lot of improvement in a La Carte. Need more vegan and vegetarian options
Staff - Most are good and seem to care but this place could be over crowded and long wait could be the result.
Huge downside is the sales folks of all kinds bugging you for business everywhere - Lobby, beach, pool etc. Beware of Travelclub (Timeshare membership) agents who will pursue you from day one.
Also for excursions avoid pool side agents. We had all kinds of lies and third world service in 2 excursions that we took from them. They will say yes to you for everything you inquire and take full money and you are on your own after that. Unsafe, unclean equipment, overcrowding, constantly skimming money by putting you through unnecessary stops at stores and indirectly pursuing you to buy things at insane prices (44 USD for a low grade swim shorts.)
