Never saw the apple vacation representative. No information given about dates to meet concerning tours and other items at the hotel. Then I could not locate them to confirm our flight or schedule our transportation back to the hotel. The hotel staff had to do it. When I have traveled before apple representatives were also at the airport directing us to our transportation to the resort. No one was there either. This is the 7th apple vacation
Grand Palladium Bavaro
When we arrived at the hotel, we realized we left our backback with our important documents (passports, cash, credit cards, etc.) on our Amstar transport van. Yamei at the reception desk immediately called Amstar and Cindy Rijo contacted the driver who returned the intact backpack within 3 hours. The Amstar driver had integrity and did not take anything from our backpack. A huge thank you to Yamie and Amstar. The food at the Bavaro buffets were subpar (often cold and not fresh) so we ended up walking to the Palace buffet to eat (food was hot and fresh). The staff at the Bavaro pool made no effort to get guests involved in any activities. We stayed December 4-11, 2017 and on Friday and Saturday a group of young people came in with their own entertainment (wireless speaker) and blasted music so loud that many guests left the pool. No one from the pool staff attempted to have the supplemental loud music removed so we could enjoy the poolside music provided every day by the hotel.
Our electric kept going out in our room 1929. Food was discussing. Most of the people in our party got sick. Went to check out and was told I owed $22 for wine I didn’t have. They straightened it out but they told me I wouldn’t be able to leave unless it was paid. I will never come back there and will never recommend to anyone.
Completely understand construction and horrible customer service
We booked our stay here due to the highly advertised children's activities and pool. We arrived and the entire children's pool and amenities were closed. We were then told the information was on the website however they couldn't find it nor could I after searching. The next day someone finally found a hidden disclosure that the area would be under construction until 10/15 but we got back 10/11 and there is no way it will be completed within months. A good 30% of the resort is under construction including the Brazilian and japanese restaurants. At night you need to walk past all the dark covered construction areas which are poorly lit and made us nervous for our safety. When we complained to the management about the kids closures and the lack of transparency they said the only thing they would give us was an apology. They were rude and completely dismissive. We have been on numerous all inclusives and the management at this hotel is the worst we have ever encountered.
Not so thrilled
We were bombarded with solicitors starting with check in! We were greeted with drinks & cold towels, which was nice, but then it started with them hounding us to join their travel club. Solicitors rent space there & are extremely pushy! Room was ok but we called the front desk 3 times about running out of toilet paper & water. We had to hunt it down ourselves. The entertainment staff were all amazing.
Great resort, with excellent service, food, drinks, and hospitality. My wife and I will definitely return!!!
Unsatified with my stay
I was very unhappy with my stay. The check in process was horrible it took an approx 2 hrs for me to check in after waiting for over 30 mins and no one would assist me. We were told that they have a BBQ for apple guest which they never had and we were unable to make reservation at an restaurants. The communication from the hotel staff was horrible. 93% off the staff was rude. I called numerous times to get my fridge refilled and for extra blankets and towels never received. My son dropped a bottle in the balcony and broke called for service 3 times and finally someone came but left half of the broken bottle so we didn't use the balcony the rest of our stay. We had a leak in our room over my sons bed we called complained no one ever showed up. I have a video of it. Booked an excursion and the representative gave me wrong prices. Not a good experience with hotel. Btw it wasn't a language barrier because I speak Spanish.
Staff does not speak English. More cool ncerned to sell you additional packages
Grand Pallidium Bavaro
The hotel room was below average. The first room we got smelled like mold. We were moved to another, which smelled a little better. The facility is old and is in need of updates. The beds weren't comfortable and the pull out sofa was a joke. My kids couldn't even sleep on it so all 6 of us squished in two beds. The staff was nice and pleasant, but too many people pushing to constantly sell you stuff. I think this hotel had a 5 star apple rating. At most I would give it two star. Beaches were nice though and the restaurants that you book reservations for were good. We all liked the Spanish, Japanese, and Italian.
Place was beautiful and beach was amazing unfortunately my entire family (5 ofus) got sock with a stomach bug. Not sure if it was caused by the ice or food at one of the restaurants.
My biggest complaints were the beds in the rooms are too small. Two adults cannot sleep comfortably in a double bed. Queen sized beds are a must. The pull out sofa is a joke. Only people 4' tall can fit otherwise your legs hang off the bottom. It's more like a futon than a pull out sofa. The waitstaff at the buffets needs serious improvement. It takes multiple requests for beverages/coffee before anyone comes to the table. You're not allowed to get up and go get your own coffee or water. Most tables of four are set for only two people so there is never enough silverware, napkins, glasses, ect for a family of four. Dirty tables are rarely cleared so you can't find a clean table to sit at. The buffet restaurants need a lot of work in general.

Beautiful beach there is no doubt in that. Sellers extremely annoying though. Over course of 8 days saw three being led off in handcuffs for whatever reason. Spoiled the relaxation. Rooms outdated but adequate and maids were good. TV Remote control didn't work and called in twice but no action. Might be worth the upgrade if rooms are better. Also might be worth the upgrade so as to get better access to a la carte restaurants otherwise it's buffet buffet buffet which is really tiring after a few days. Food was just ok, have read reviews raving about the food and I scratch my head at that one. Major let down for me was the constant hassle from representatives in hotel trying to engage you in talking in order to sell excursions, photos, club membership, gifts etc etc and just had me planning each day how to avoid them as it became so uncomfortable. They even try the oldest trick in the book with a tag stuck on your room door with an offer of a gift so you meet with them. Not what I expected from a hotel. Would not return here.
A few Glitches but Overall Great Resort!
Just got back from the Grand Palladium Bavaro after a 9 night stay. This is our third April in a row to Punta Cana. We've stayed at the Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana and the Now Onyx resorts. The first thing I'll say is that the property is huge! There are 3 resorts (Bavaro, Palace and Punta Cana) which you have access to. The grounds are beautiful, tropical and immaculate. Because of the size of the resort, you have many pools and restaurants to choose from. The beach is stunning with hardly any waves. The only knock on the beach are the chair savers - people that throw towels down on their chairs in the morning and end up never using them. This makes it difficult to get a chair in the shade if you go after 10am. The resort has a policy against saving chairs, but I'm sure it's difficult to enforce. The pools are also great. Our favorite was the Bavaro pool. The restaurants are also great. We went to 8 different restaurants and thought they were all terrific. Our favorite was La Paisana which serves in the style of Argentina. Our waiter at this restaurant was Gregory. Gregory also works the morning Buffet at La Cathedral. Gregory was a great waiter and made our stay very enjoyable. Gregory would greet us every morning in the Buffet with a smile. He recommended we have dinner at the restaurant he works at (La Paisana) and he gave us top notch service. Because of the size of the resort, it's difficult to develop a rapport with your bartenders and servers. The only problem we encountered during our stay at the Grand Palladium Bavaro was with the room. We were moved several times because of AC not working and then another room that was dripping water from the AC. The front desk was very accommodating and upgraded us to another room. Unlike the other resorts we've stayed at, the lobbies are actually hopping with activity. Each night there is some type of entertainment going on in each of the lobbies that starts at around 8pm. There are also shows in the theatre and Hemingway's is a great place to have a drink (top shelf liquors such as Don Julio Tequila and Grey Goose Vodka without an upcharge) and listen to some music.
No customer service at all
The hotel is nice but the customer service is very bad.
I had different issues during my stay and I didn’t find any support from the staff.
1. I booked a baby bed which was not ready in my room. I had to call 3 times and go twice to the reception to finally get it.
2. During my stay, I had to go 6 times to the reception because I couldn’t get into the room. The staff changed the card but after I told them 6 times that the problem was the card reader they finally sent someone to change the batteries in the card reader.
3. Air conditioning broke down. That can happen but again, I had to call multiple time to have someone to fix it.
4. One day there was no more water in my room. Guess what... I had to call 5 times... staff always replies that they will fix the issue but it never happens...
After all my complains, a manager offered my wife a 30 minute massage. He promised the voucher to be delivered in my room the same day. I had to call 3 times to receive it.
I booked directly to the hotel and received 1500 usd to be used in the ressort. This is a total joke... you don’t get anything free. It’s only vouchers for discount ( you get 10$ if you spend 50)...
I will not go there any more and would not recommend this hotel.
We had a weeks holiday here over Easter 2018. The resort is very nice; part of a larger complex of 3 hotels and some luxury suites. They all run along the same beach - Bavaro - which is on the Atlantic. However, it is still white sand and blue sea and has the warmth of the Caribbean. We travelled as a family but this is a very mixed resort - lots of ages, lots of nationalities.
The swimming pools are very good - and guests can use all of them. It's a bit of a walk from one end of the resort to the other but there's a little road train and usually golf buggies available if you need a lift. Our pool (Bavaro) was best for our older children but the other pools had shallower parts for younger children. We went to a foam party one afternoon at the Palace hotel pool - great fun. There's always entertainment going on - the animation team (PoP) are great - very friendly and engaging.
We travelled with Tui and booked some trips with them - really worth going to the island of Saona to get the real Caribbean turquoise water experience. We also did a buggy adventure that was great off road driving - and swimming in a cave. It's also a chance to see a bit of the island beyond the resort. Hats off to our rep Gustavo for recommending that we do the more expensive trips - it was worth the extra to be in a smaller group (sailing) and on a better truck (buggies).
The food here is good for an all inclusive - lots of choice and available nearly all day. I particularly liked having lunch at the Arrecife restaurant with views of the beach and the breakfast donuts were a winner with the children. It's not perfect - so if you expect perfection - don't come here, but we were happy. There are restaurants for the evening so it's not endless buffet - we enjoyed the Mexican (spicy) and the Japanese teppanyaki experience is a must, although booking it isn't easy - we had to go at 5:45pm despite booking at 7am the day before (you can only book the day before). I think the sensible times are kept for Travel Club guests and Luxury guests. As I said, not perfect, but not worth getting upset about.
The biggest problem for us was that we are a family of 5. This meant that we had booked and paid for two rooms. Although it is made clear that there is no guarantee of the rooms being interconnecting, I was very disappointed to arrive after a long trip and discover that our rooms were in separate buildings. Another sweaty trip to reception (and a long wait - check in takes forever - be warned!) and I managed to get two rooms in the same block. However, one was upstairs and one downstairs - not ideal. I was not happy about my 11yo sleeping separately so this meant that we played musical beds all week - not that relaxing - and also kept having to go up and down for 'stuff'. I think the resort (and holiday company) could do more to check the ages of children and allocate rooms accordingly. The family next to us upstairs had very young children - I'm sure they would rather not have had to park their buggy downstairs and keep going up and down with the baby. It just requires some thought.
I was determined not to let this ruin my holiday in a beautiful spot, but it would make me hesitate to return or recommend Palladium.
We had an amazing trip to Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites. We are travel club members and had a beautiful ocean view room. I cannot say enough good things about the employees. My daughter was on crutches during our visit and everyone went out of their way to provide extra help. Everyone who works at this resort is so friendly. The property itself is beautiful and well maintained. We will definitely plan a return trip. I wish I was there right now!
