Grand Palladium Bavaro
When we arrived at the hotel, we realized we left our backback with our important documents (passports, cash, credit cards, etc.) on our Amstar transport van. Yamei at the reception desk immediately called Amstar and Cindy Rijo contacted the driver who returned the intact backpack within 3 hours. The Amstar driver had integrity and did not take anything from our backpack. A huge thank you to Yamie and Amstar. The food at the Bavaro buffets were subpar (often cold and not fresh) so we ended up walking to the Palace buffet to eat (food was hot and fresh). The staff at the Bavaro pool made no effort to get guests involved in any activities. We stayed December 4-11, 2017 and on Friday and Saturday a group of young people came in with their own entertainment (wireless speaker) and blasted music so loud that many guests left the pool. No one from the pool staff attempted to have the supplemental loud music removed so we could enjoy the poolside music provided every day by the hotel.
Our electric kept going out in our room 1929. Food was discussing. Most of the people in our party got sick. Went to check out and was told I owed $22 for wine I didn’t have. They straightened it out but they told me I wouldn’t be able to leave unless it was paid. I will never come back there and will never recommend to anyone.
Completely understand construction and horrible customer service
We booked our stay here due to the highly advertised children's activities and pool. We arrived and the entire children's pool and amenities were closed. We were then told the information was on the website however they couldn't find it nor could I after searching. The next day someone finally found a hidden disclosure that the area would be under construction until 10/15 but we got back 10/11 and there is no way it will be completed within months. A good 30% of the resort is under construction including the Brazilian and japanese restaurants. At night you need to walk past all the dark covered construction areas which are poorly lit and made us nervous for our safety. When we complained to the management about the kids closures and the lack of transparency they said the only thing they would give us was an apology. They were rude and completely dismissive. We have been on numerous all inclusives and the management at this hotel is the worst we have ever encountered.
Not so thrilled
We were bombarded with solicitors starting with check in! We were greeted with drinks & cold towels, which was nice, but then it started with them hounding us to join their travel club. Solicitors rent space there & are extremely pushy! Room was ok but we called the front desk 3 times about running out of toilet paper & water. We had to hunt it down ourselves. The entertainment staff were all amazing.
Great resort, with excellent service, food, drinks, and hospitality. My wife and I will definitely return!!!
Unsatified with my stay
I was very unhappy with my stay. The check in process was horrible it took an approx 2 hrs for me to check in after waiting for over 30 mins and no one would assist me. We were told that they have a BBQ for apple guest which they never had and we were unable to make reservation at an restaurants. The communication from the hotel staff was horrible. 93% off the staff was rude. I called numerous times to get my fridge refilled and for extra blankets and towels never received. My son dropped a bottle in the balcony and broke called for service 3 times and finally someone came but left half of the broken bottle so we didn't use the balcony the rest of our stay. We had a leak in our room over my sons bed we called complained no one ever showed up. I have a video of it. Booked an excursion and the representative gave me wrong prices. Not a good experience with hotel. Btw it wasn't a language barrier because I speak Spanish.
Staff does not speak English. More cool ncerned to sell you additional packages
Grand Pallidium Bavaro
The hotel room was below average. The first room we got smelled like mold. We were moved to another, which smelled a little better. The facility is old and is in need of updates. The beds weren't comfortable and the pull out sofa was a joke. My kids couldn't even sleep on it so all 6 of us squished in two beds. The staff was nice and pleasant, but too many people pushing to constantly sell you stuff. I think this hotel had a 5 star apple rating. At most I would give it two star. Beaches were nice though and the restaurants that you book reservations for were good. We all liked the Spanish, Japanese, and Italian.
Place was beautiful and beach was amazing unfortunately my entire family (5 ofus) got sock with a stomach bug. Not sure if it was caused by the ice or food at one of the restaurants.
My biggest complaints were the beds in the rooms are too small. Two adults cannot sleep comfortably in a double bed. Queen sized beds are a must. The pull out sofa is a joke. Only people 4' tall can fit otherwise your legs hang off the bottom. It's more like a futon than a pull out sofa. The waitstaff at the buffets needs serious improvement. It takes multiple requests for beverages/coffee before anyone comes to the table. You're not allowed to get up and go get your own coffee or water. Most tables of four are set for only two people so there is never enough silverware, napkins, glasses, ect for a family of four. Dirty tables are rarely cleared so you can't find a clean table to sit at. The buffet restaurants need a lot of work in general.
Food so bad you wouldn't want to stay here
Yes, the beach is stunning and the drinks are strong. But you can get that at countless resorts. The food was so poor that we would not return. Everyone we met at our hotel had the same opinion of the food. We even met a couple who left the resort for restaurants in town since the food was so lacking. The only good meal was at Sumptuori but we ended up with food poisoning that ruined our last three days. So frustrating! Now to the Amstar service. A nice bus takes you from the airport to the resort. You get tips and are told a designated time to meet your Amstar rep to get your shuttle departure time. This actually ends up being a sales pitch for excursions and after the meeting they make you come back again to get your departure pick up time. We did want a short excursion and Luis told us the Scape Park with two activities would keep us away for about 4 1/2 hours. Well, that trip kept us away for 8 1/2 hours where three of those hours were spent on the bus picking up and dropping off passengers. The downtime continued before, during, and after each event at the Scape Park. This was a definite disappointment that we would not recommend. Too much downtime, so much longer than told and it was just a crowded tourist trap.

No refund more then month!
I have canceled my stay, because our hotel was not what we expected. It was leaking to the room etc. I was checking out first week in december and up today (15 Jan 2018) I dont have my refund more then 1200 USD.
We stayed a week in a Junior Suite 2 older and 2 younger. We were received very kindly by a "concierge" who put himself at our disposal for any concerns and would call us daily to know if everything was fine. He also invited us to a "family day" to enjoy a Dominican breakfast. We did not know if he called us some day, since the phone in the room did not work. Since we warned it took 2 days to fix it. The remote control of the room did not work. They told us that someone would come to fix it and it took more than a day for someone to come and solve the problem. The Wi-Fi signal was intermittent all over the place. In fact, the signal was cut 30 minutes before the check-out time and as we had to check the plane, they gave us information about another room so that we have access to Wi-Fi in the lobby. 2 days did not make the room. We had to go personally to request that please do so. When they did not leave clean towels, call to request towels and they did not arrive, they were replaced the next day when they made the room. To restaurants, it was necessary to arrive between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to sign up for a waiting list (usually 1 hour) as there are very few tables available for non-VIP or ROYAL passengers. . One night we arrived at 8:30 and we tried to eat in 3 visibly empty restaurants but they told us that there were no tables available.
As the days passed, we were told by hotel staff that: the service we were receiving corresponded to a room reserved by "agency" if we wanted a better service we could do an upgrade of the room; that the "family day" (which finally did not exist) was a talk to sell us a timeshare offered by the hotel; that the restaurants take reservations from the VIP or ROYAL guests that have priority and do not have a tolerance time in the reserve, keep the table all that night. In summary, it is a 5 stars resort only for those who book at the Palladium Royal Suites or who are part of the hotel's travel club. For the rest, it is a 3 stars superior.
Best Hotel in punta cana
Nice staff Good Food the Boss för the Imperial cl ub is very Kind pur Room was veey nig Restaurant a la carte Amazing the Pools and the beach super is Perfect die my Family is the best One i will ne back
Great Vacation! The hotel is beautiful! Food is great! Service is excellent! Can't wait to come back! We went to the steakhouse, Chinese, New Argentina restaurant, and all the buffets. ALL WERE GREAT!
Fantastic place!!!! - just needs some minor improvements
We stayed in the Bavaro suites from 28/12 to 4/1 - and overall it was fantastic!
The pools were great, the beach was stunning, the food was exceptional (in all of the countless buffet and a la carte restaurants we had access to), the room was faultless, the weather was perfect, the service was great - and the cocktails were flowing all day every day!
The Bavaro hotel is part of a huge resort shared with three other hotels - all under the Grand Palladium group. We had access to all of the buffets and the a la carte restaurants as well as all of the pools and facilities the resort had to offer. I believe there are around 6 or 7 pools - all with swim up bars, waiter service, ample sun loungers and sunshades and plenty of activities. Our 9 year old daughter was in her element, as were we. It was aimed as a relaxation holiday for us so we spent a lot of time at the pools and we were waited on constantly with cocktails and drinks (the Pina Coladas and Miami Vice's were outstanding!). The size of the resort should not put anyone off as you can either walk through the stunning grounds of the resort (no sign of hurricane damage!) or you can get picked up at one of the many buggy/train stops and jump on the next buggy/train that comes along. The buggy's and trains were a particular highlight for our daughter - loads of fun!
We were upgraded from a junior suite to a master suite when we arrived which was a nice touch - it was a very large room with 2 double beds and a sitting area with sofa bed. The bathroom had a huge Jacuzzi bath and separate shower - perfect! It was kept clean and the minibar had a few beers in so we were happy. As we arrived late on the first night we ordered some room service which was spot on.
The food across the whole resort was nothing short of excellent! We used La Catedral buffet for breakfast each day and there was a great variation of food on offer there - all of it was excellent. For lunch we either went to the buffet near the pools or the one on the beach (Araciffe) - all of which were fantastic. A nice touch was the beach BBQ's that were often on offer with a cool live band banging out funk and reggae classics whilst we ate our lunch - amazing!
The evening food options were ridiculously good - Tapas, Asian, Italian, Argentinian, Tepenyaki, Indian, American - you name it and they had a restaurant for it! We ate in La Tapeo (Tapas) which was amazing, Bamboo (Asian) which was outstanding, and La Pasciana (Argentinian) on our last night which was great as it had literally only been open a few days. On a couple of nights we had our evening meal in La Catedral and Bohique buffet restaurants and they were fantastic also! Such a huge variety of food we just didn't know what to have first!
On New Years Eve we attended the gala dinner at La Catedral and they pulled out all of the stops - the food was incredible! As much lobster as you could eat among other beautiful dishes! It was well organised and considering the amount of people eating the service did not suffer in any way and we were well looked after as always. On top of the gala dinner a huge open air concert was laid on in the sports field in the middle of the resort - with DJs, bands, and the mother of all firework displays when the clock struck midnight! My daughter will never forget that night! Again - despite the volume of people at the concert it was all tables and waiter service - it was a great party!
We wish we booked 10 days as a week just wasn't enough - we relaxed, we ate, we drank, we swam - it was exactly what we wanted.
Now - a couple of points that I feel I should make in the interest of balance and honesty...
1. With such a big complex can come some communication issues. Unfortunately on more than one occasion we were given incorrect information by the reception staff at the Palace. We were told twice by the reception there that the Torres buffet was open, only for us to get there and it be closed. We were also told twice that we did not need to book a reservation for the Tepenyaki restaurant - we turned up and we were told we had to have a reservation and it was fully booked. We raised this with management there and it would seem that certain staff members were not aware of the new restaurants reservation policy. This was very frustrating as it was our last night - however, within minutes we were at the new Argentinian restaurant instead and had a fantastic meal. Happy days
2. The check-in process needs a bit of work. I think they could do with a few more staff and a smoother process when they know there are busy times for people arriving. The last thing people want after a long flight is to stand around at a reception (even if the welcome drinks were great!)
3. I think the resort would benefit from more English speaking staff - don't get me wrong, I don't mean loads as I can get that in cornwall. I just mean that a few of the restaurants and receptions would benefit from a couple more good English speaking people in the interest of the service to Brits, americans and Canadians that frequent the resort.
4. The price for the week was a lot - but I guess that's Christmas/New year prices and will be the same everywhere..
There are a lot of people putting negative comments on here - I think some people can be so wrapped up in finding the negative in things that the many positives just pass them by!
Keep doing what you are doing - take on board the feedback, make the required improvements and people will struggle to find anything to fault you on.
We will 100% return some time - for 10 days next time! Cheers
