I will not use Apple Vacations as long as they schedule there flights with Frontier Airlines. Frontier tries to charge you extra any way they can. $300 in extras and then they wanted $2.95 for a Diet Coke. I am done with Frontier.

This is our 3rd year staying at the RIU Playacar. We are very happy with this resort. It is not too big so our group of 10 can keep in touch with each other. Always a fun & relaxing time.

This is our second time staying at Riu Playacar but our third time with a Riu resort. I love that they have activities throughout the day for everyone. My kids are teenagers and are very active. They don't just want to lounge by the pool or the beach, so having volleyball, football in the sand, water polo, etc. keeps them entertained. The shows in the evening are excellent. We have never felt the need to leave the resort but we do like to explore things about the countries we are visiting. We went to Xei Ha and it was exceptionally beautiful!! would totally go there again.

Overall the hotel was good but we are not likely to return. We previously have stayed at both Palace resorts and they are much better. We had ants in our room the entire trip and the food was hit or miss. One night we ate had bad fish (smelled rotten) but thankfully did not get sick. The beach and staff are excellent! On a separate note we were disappointed by how apple vacations handled the luggage prepayments. We were never informed that you have a couple of days preflight to pay for them or you have to pay directly with Frontier at an upcharge. We felt that since this is an all inclusive package out of the country at a minimum carry ons should be included in price.

We traveled in a big group, 32 people celebrating frienship for more than 25 years together. We thought we chose the best option to had a unforgivable time but we were wrong, we chose a poor hotel. At the beginning they don't have capacity at the restaurants to seat everybody at the same time for diners ( lunch everybody take a diferents time a the buffet.) Only at the buffet we can take dinners together. Second and the worst part, the Disco was close and anybody told that at the moment we made all the reservation, one night we put some music with a little speaker and the manager ask us to put off because we can not listen music in any space of the hotel or they will call the police, we were not drunk or something similar, we just want some music and many dance. They didn't have any kind of music even at the bar. After that every night was boring because they just have the Family Theather show that finish at 10 pm, after that they turn off the lights and music. Maybe for a family trip.is a good option but a for group is really a bad option. The customer service in many areas were poor and disrespect with us. In resume... NEVER AGAIN.

Been meaning to write this review for ages. Me and my partner stayed here for 2 weeks last year. We did read some reviews on here and it helped us make our final decision. We 100% made the right one... from begining to end we had one off the best holidays we've ever had. Mexico itself is a stunning part of the world. We found a love for the sea and snorkelling. As for the hotel just WOW, I could right page after page about it but I'll try to keep it short(ish). They are so welcoming every second of every day, rooms are kept clean, they offer you so much its well worth the money we paid. The Mexican and steak restaurants in the evening served some of the best food I've had as off yet. The bar staff are so full of energy and life. The excursions Thompson offer are insane. Not cheap but we did a couple and had a great time. 5th avenue is worth a visit (more than once as lots to look at). Taxis are cheap and a must for getting around. Hotel staff actually wave the taxis into hotel for you. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff. Location is spot on, weather was amazing. Lots of drinks choice (alcoholic obviously). All inclusive as it should be. Entertainment was pretty good compared to other places we've stayed. Fire show was amazing. All so talented. They work so hard and remembered to tip the staff it makes a difference. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely return to this hotel when we come back to Mexico. We did have access to some of the other Riu's near by but we loved Playacar to much to go anywhere else. Of course there are occasion where little things are missed or not totally right but people need to lighten up and let their hair down. I have never seen such a hard working group of people and that's be truth. Most of them work ALL day and I mean ALL day. Well done Playacar, I can't wait to return. Hopefully be soon 💜

Super hotel! Exceeded all expectations Staff were amazing, worked so hard all hours of the day. Always greeted us with a smile, and nothing was too much for them. Amazing choice of restaurants, no booking needed so just whatever takes your fancy on the night. All locals lovely, and loads of attractions/ night clubs/ bars outside the complex that was easy to get to. Will definitely be returning 😀

My husband and I, along with two other couples, stayed at the Riu Playacar 4/12-4/19. Overall our experience was just "OK" for a fun Mexico trip with friends. First, our friends were unable to check into their room for over an hour past the check-in time we were quoted. When they got their room, they turned on the A/C which proceeded to pour water out of the ceiling vent and flood their room. Maintenance was temporarily able to stop the water, but they were not given a new room until 4pm the next day. The food is absolutely terrible and NEEDS to be addressed. Food sits under heat lamps all day at the buffet, and is then recycled and prepared differently to you at each of their sit-down restaurants. On our 4th day we were the first to arrive at breakfast prior to leaving for an excursion. It was in my yogurt (in a ceramic bowl at the buffet) that I found a piece of glass the size of a nickel. Thankfully I spit it out right away! The dining staff were worthless and had us fill out a formal complaint which was not addressed until later that afternoon with the Director. Luckily the director took our incident seriously and handled the manner professionally and compensated us with a wonderful ocean view room..much appreciated! Needless to say we did refused to eat much more of the resort food and ventured off to local restaurants with GREAT food! Aside from the food being our biggest complaint, there were many charming things about this resort. Everything is very clean, and the staff are friendly and inviting. The Riu entertainment staff remember your name and seek you out to participate in fun activities (Thanks Fernando and Lino!). Bartenders were wonderful and drinks were great. The beach is well maintained each morning and the shows at night are generally entertaining. There are great shops across the street, but head off the resort to 5th Avenue if you're looking for better deals! We may not be staying at this resort again, but we did enjoy our time in Mexico!

Just returned from a 2 week vacation, and loved every minute of it. Staff were very accommodating and they couldn’t do enough for you. There was a great selection of food and always plenty of it, I am a very fussy eater but never went without. When you were relaxing on the beach staff regularly came round with drinks on a tray (a mixture of soft and alcoholic drinks) which was great. The beach was amazing, you could always find a bed no matter what time you went down. The entertainment team were always around trying to get people to join in, not pushy at all. First night there we were greeted by Felix and throughout our holiday he always came up to us to see if everything was ok. We went on a couple of excursions, which were ok but we picked the only 2 days out of the holiday which weather was not great (catamaran trip to Isla Majures in a thunderstorm), but it was a experience. Did a snorkelling excursion 2nd to last day, saw stingray, turtles and a nurse shark. Went to 5th Avenue, which was ok but was sick of people pestering you to go in shops. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back. Wanted to try somewhere else next year but after telling daughter about our holiday looks like we will be coming back here.
