Apple Vacations Traveller Reviews
Very crowded beach, was not aware that our hotel was one of 3 hotels on one property. Very crowded beach. Great staff. The Japanese restaurant was fantastic, taco bar was great. Buffets food was not good at all. Would recommend hotel for family vacations, lots of different things to do for kids.
GREAT VACATION SPOT
WE TRAVELED WITH THE WHITE SOX THRU APPLE VACATIONS - EVERYTHING WENT LIKE CLOCKWORK!
Wonderful Christmas Vacation
The resort was beautiful and clean the staff was very nice and helpful throughout our stay. The pool bar staff was great Ricardo does a fantastic job! The activities staff was wonderful very friendly and offered a lot of activities throughout the day volley ball, yoga, and Zumba are just a few of the offerings. The evening shows were also very nice, the Christmas Eve Magic Show was great! The food was good, at the buffet not great. I really didn't not like the fact that we had to make reservations for the à la carte restaurants they say you can make reservation prior to arriving and that is not true. We had a group of 12, four of which arrived 2 days prior to the remaining 8 and they would not allow them to make reservations for all of us since rooms had not yet been assigned to the 8 that were arriving 2 days later. Once we all arrived and tried to make reservations there we none available, until I raised a concern and then magically reservations appeared out of the blue. The Christmas Eve Gala buffet was very good and had many options to choose from. The Steak House restaurant was good and the Mexican restaurant is a must try we really enjoyed it. I will say I prefer a resort that has open seating first come first serve for à la carte restaurants. Over all our Christmas vacation was wonderful beautiful weather and very friendly staff!
2 members of our group after eating at buffet ended up with confirmed salmonella and spent a night in the hospital. When we informed the front desk they stated they had not had any complaints. There were four other groups that were being admitted to ER when we were that were staying at exact resort we were at!!
My family had an amazing time at this resort. We are already booking our trip next year back to Del Mar. The staff was welcoming, helpful and very courteous. We are recommending this hotel to our friends who are looking to go to Mexico. We will be back!!!
Not the same
Much of the food at the buffets was tepid to cold. Attention from the wait staff at buffets and a la carte restaurants was definitely lacking. The quiet pool needs to be watched by hotel employees. Loud, drunk adults and screaming children. Drinks were severely watered down. I do not appreciate the staff pushing the Iberostar The Club.
Friendly staff, great service, lovely hotel and grounds!
Everything about our stay was wonderful, from the time we checked in, until the ease with which we checked out! Everyone was friendly and helpful. We've stayed here before and we would stay here again!
The staff at the hotel was excellent in all areas
Iberostar Paraiso del Mar
Really beautiful, jungle feel to the grounds, while well maintained, gave a feeling of privacy. The grounds never felt busy or crowded. The plethora of animals and birds was an unexpected surprise, which, being animal lovers, we adored. The buffet food was adequate, but unexciting, while the specialty restaurants were outstanding. Avoid The room service pizza at all costs! The beach was clean and not overcrowded, with refreshments close to hand. The pool was pristine. The public buildings are gorgeous, with polished marble floors weaving between living ponds inhabited by fish, turtles, black and white swans, ducks and flamingoes. I experienced one very surly, dude bartender, who, after I ordered a cocktail (my only one of the day) snapped at my back as I turned "see you again in five minutes!". I understand he probably deals with some unpleasant heavy drinkers, but this treatment of a guest, in mid-afternoon, was a real downer. Aside from that one experience, the staff could not have been more pleasant, always offering a cheerful greeting when paths crossed, regardless of their roles. Jonathan, the Apple rep on site, was so kind and helpful, offering help with translation for a tour gone wrong (not booked through Apple) and aiding us in booking two other tours. The Apple recommended tours really were the best. Trust them to get you where you want to go, at a fair price. Overall, I hope to repeat the experience, and will recommend it to others!
Great pool and beach environment horrible food
The beach and pool areas were amazing. It was very tropical which we like. However, the food was terrible. The buffet food was the worst I've had at an all inclusive. The ala carte restaurants were just fair. The room was upgraded but was no bigger than a standard room and we had no coffee pot for the morning. The shower water went from really hot to cold while showering. Certainly not what I expected with an upgraded room and great apple rating. The worst part was that gave you a towel card and if you didn't return at the end of the week they charged you 10.00 for the towel. Absolutely ridiculous policy when your getting in and out of the pool. What are you supposed to do, take the pool in the towel so someone doesn't steal yours!? Will not stay here again.
Iberostar hit it out of the park!
Our all-inclusive stay at Iberostar del Mar was amazing for the price we paid! It far exceeded our expectations and surpassed the quality of a previous all-inclusive resort in Cancun. We loved the proximity to great scuba diving and snorkeling. Next time, I'll spend more time with a good book on the beach on one of the many cabanas/sleeper lounges or in the perfect aqua water on the beach. I loved being able to order a drink or snack right on the beach, with no money exchanging hands. What a great place! Great restaurants and buffets throughout and available golf carts to carry you wherever you want to go. The pathways and beautiful landscaped areas invite evening strolls too.

The place is absolutely beautiful, very well kept and very friendly staff, The food however is not what was expected and heard many complaints during our stay there. After getting very ill on the third day did not eat any prepared food and stuck to fruit and bread. The specialty restaurants are horrible and an absolute waste of time, the bad food at the buffets is still better that those places .
It can do better
There are a lot of things going for the resort, but this is a 3 star at best. It is close to the airport, large but well laid out, gives a jungle feel, beach is great, and the people who work here are very nice. Check in was smooth and allowed early check in.
Initial reaction was disappointment because compared to Grand Bahia Coba where we were previous year, this resort looks older, and very bland, there was no wow factor at all in anything.
I will suggest getting a room closer to the beach if you plan to be at the beach often.
The resort shares restaurants and pool with the beach resort. The a-la carte are close to the lobby and so are the buffet restaurants. There are 2 restaurants close to the beach, one for each of the 2 sharing resorts - del mar and beach, both almost identical and both had bad food. There is a snack bar at the beach, which was very very bad. Food at the buffet restaurants acceptable.
We walked around in the 2 nicer resorts, lindo and maya, which had nicer pool, nicer restaurants, but rooms seemed the same. They had a separate snack bar at the beach, which seemed much better. Probably the main perk for the upgrade to Lindo, Maya is the food at the beach snack bar and good restaurants.
Did not care for the drinks, but they did not look good.
They have a nightly entertainment, the wait staff takes care of you there during the show, the show is on average quite good.
And they have fun pool games, and one needs to be careful playing them, for instance the water balloon game.
They have a great beach, and water sports.
I have given minus 2 stars for the bad food and drinks close to the beach.
Our 1st Trip to Cancun - Loved It!
My Wife and I recently made a trip to the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar Hotel - with a large group from the Chicago area. We had a very enjoyable time. This was our first trip to both the Cancun area and this hotel. We found the Hotel and Grounds just beautiful. All areas are well kept. Our room was cleaned promptly each morning and provided a very relaxed personal setting. And the Hotel Staff - we cannot say enough about them. We found them to be very hard working people, who are very friendly, and will do whatever they need to - to make your trip the best it can be. Our only compliant was with the food. The Buffets have great and grand selections - but we found the main dishes to be cold. We also truly enjoyed the beaches - and watching the sunrise almost every morning. Overall we are very pleased with our trip and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to travel to the Cancun area. THANK YOU IBEROSTAR.
Very relaxing trip! Beautiful resort:)
Even with it being a family resort, the place is so huge you rarely notice that there are kids. Very clean, staff was on point always! Food was hit or miss...love the breakfast, the food area on the beach was always fresh for lunch and the mexican and Japanese restaurants were delicious! Dinner options were so so in the buffet. It would have been nice if they were themed nights like at the Riu instead of a lot of the same things. Highly recommend the coffee shop and crepe place in the shopping centre. Entertainment staff was incredible especially Stephanie, Tony, Luis and Caesar. We got pretty involved in the activities and we loved them all. Lots of activities for everyone and classes at their gym. Bartender Lionel at the far pool bar, amazing! They had quite a bit of animals there, the coati left us alone and were cute to watch even though there was a ton of them. There’s plenty of seating on the beach and around the pools plus a nice quiet pool area with a lot of cabanas and a waterfall. The evening shows weren’t bad either like the circus one, only a couple of the nights they were a little cheesy. Nightclub wasn’t bad either, not up to date on the music but they played a lot of good stuff. Recommend going on the shuttle to Playa Del Carmen. Takes about 10-12 min to walk from lobby to beach but they do have little shuttle carts. There wasn’t a lot of one age group, good mix of families, older couples, etc. I would go here again, wanted to relax and we were able to do just that:)
Great Property and Layout
We have stayed here twice, most recently this past November. This is a great property, with friendly and helpful staff. Very clean rooms and easy access to pools and beach. Will definitely be returning again!!
