Great Vacay - Friendly Staff & Beautiful Property
This was my first time to Mexico and I was not sure what to expect but the reviews of Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar seemed good and my boyfriend and I were looking for a budget-friendly vacay. I will start off by saying that this is a great choice for those like us who are "ballin' on a budget" - you get a lot of value for your money with the beautiful resort, nice rooms, and amazing service. Other highlights of our trip included the amazing bartenders who all went out of their way to make sure we had plenty to drink and that our drinks were made the way we liked. The entertainment team did a great job organizing fun activities during the day - we had a blast playing pool volleyball, horseshoe games on the beach, and even lost terribly at the beer chugging contest! The shows at night were a lot of fun too - we saw a "Dancing through the decades" show with music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s as well as a very entertaining magic show our last night.
The only things that I took points off the review for are the far distances required to walk to the pool, beach, lobby, etc. - we were in building 1600 and were fairly close to the pool but had a 5 minute walk each way to the lobby or beach and I would have liked if everything was a bit more central. That being said, the grounds are immaculately clean and we saw so many cool exotic animals during our walks such as flamingos, lizards, swans, peacocks, and coatis (my favorite!) so that made up for the long walks. The food was hit or miss - the buffet wasn't bad for the most part, it really just depends what you get. We tried the Mediterranean and Brazilian a la carte restaurants but accidentally missed Japanese due to a long nap after a few too many Bahama Mamas our first night! The Mediterranean was just okay - the lobster I had was very dry but the steak was pretty good. We really enjoyed the Brazilian and enjoyed all of the options available to try - I stayed away from the cow thyroid but the BF was more adventurous! I had read good reviews about the Japanese restaurant so we are still both kicking ourselves for missing it.
Overall, we had an amazing time at this beautiful resort and would recommend it for the price we paid. The staff was all super friendly and is devoted to making sure you have an awesome vacay and the value is very good.
P.S. Be sure to check out the unique Star Wars themed disco next door at Paraiso Beach - we had a blast and it was one of our favorite nights!
I will write a bigger review on trip advisor but to make a long story short we had to extend our stay twice due to hurricane Irma. Our four night trip turned into 12. We have been very lucky to have been able to continue our stay here and the hotel gave us cheaper rates to accommodate our unexpected extended stay. We will definitely be coming back.
Would highly recommend.
Been to the Cancun area several times. Overall this was the best resort we've been to. Would highly recommend.
Very Good week overall...
Overall our family (19) had a very good experience. All went very smoothly overall. Was disappointed that we were not all in the same building as requested..and the rooms we requested several were to be adjoining rooms (especially for my 82 year old father). That was about the only drawback..and there was no real effort to ever try to correct this throughout the week.
Excellent Customer Service
I cannot stress enough how wonderful the staff was at this resort. Not only was the resort very beautiful, I met not one staff member that provided less than superior service. From the front door to the back we were pleased and made to feel welcomed. This includes the spa staff and shopkeepers as well. Thank you.
large resort, but did not mind the distance to walk from place to place. hotel grounds were fairly well kept. Food was pretty good, some hits & some misses as with most resorts. the highlight was the meal at the Brazilian a la carte. stayed in a base level hotel room and thought it was was good enough, no problems. one of the best things about this resort was their kids club program - they did an extraordinary job - so may different activities for the kids. at night, kids performed various shows on the theater's stage before the main show - what a great way to build kid's self-esteem, confidence, & social skills!
Cannot wait to go back.
Iberostar Del Mar Riveria Maya
Exceptional resort with exceptional service
Awesome vacation with friends!
Resort was clean and beautiful! Check in was easy. Food was only ok. Drinks were awesome! Shout out to Jorge at the lobby bar, Martin and Miguel at the pool bar and Ricardo at the beach bar! All of them were super friendly and provided excellent service! We had an excellent vacation!
Hot Hot Hot
There was no air con in the public areas like the buffet or lobby bars or theater. It was so hot I could only eat dinner and go to my room for heat relief. Additionally, this hotel was the site of an apparent poisoning of a guest with adulterated alcohol. It was all over the web as well as media in the US yet the hotel made no attempt to communicate anything to guests about the issue it was concerning that the reports seemed so unimportant to Iberostar management.
This was my first trip to Mexico and the first time at an all inclusive resort. I have to say I was not disappointed in the least. I always thought all inclusive meant watered down drinks and food. Boy was I wrong. Can't wait for the next trip

My wife and I take three trips each year and usually spend a week in the Cancun area. This year we stayed at Iberostar Paraiso del Mar. This was the third time that we stayed at this resort. It has a really nice, well maintained beach and good buffet/restaurant dining options. Last year the entertainment was outstanding. This year it was one person who really made our stay special. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Jorge Garcia. He treated us as old friends whenever he saw us during our stay, showing a personal interest and making recommendations that enhanced our resort experience. On our last day we did something that we have never done before. We took a photo together with Jorge so that we can seek out and greet him as our special Iberostar Paraiso del Mar friend when we return next year.
I've stayed at this resort multiple times and each time gets better and better. I have always felt very safe at this resort and this time was no different. Everyone who works there is incredibly nice, hard working , and makes you feel welcome. The entertainment team was great as always! Shout out to Sexy Papi, Cesar, and Mike who stood out the most and were all a great time. The bartenders were great and a lot of fun as well. Roger at the pool bar, Jorge at the lobby bar, and Esteban at the Rock Cafe were the best! Tipping goes a long way and is well deserved. The resort overall is beautiful and well maintained, including the beach and pool. I would definitely recommend staying at this resort!
Couples Get Away
We stood at the resort for 7 nights, 8 days and had a great time. BUT on the last day we just got back from dinner about 9:30 p.m. and we heard a knock on the door, it was a man asking if we needed any towels, water or pop? That was very strange since it was our last night there and needed to pack for our flight the next morning. This place is beautiful and we really didn't have any problems, but that made me feel very insecure in our room that night. They didn't ask us the whole week we were there, so the place needs more security. Also the driver who drove us from the resort to Playa for some shopping also charged us $10.00 extra for no apparent reason for a round trip ticket and then we didn't see him again and had to pay again to get back to the resort. We did the Express Tour to Chichen Itza and it was great! We highly recommend that tour, it's a long drive but totally worth it.
Don't believe the hype
Just got home yesterday from our girls trip. Wait and Room service Staff were amazing and very kind. Aside from the folks at the front desk who were less than accommodating. However, the food and drinks were terrible. Couldn't even get a buzz off the drinks and the food was of the same quality of a low end all you can eat Buffett. So not worth the money I spent. I don't think I'd opt to go back to an Iberostar property again. This was my first Mexico experience and it left a bad taste in my mouth.
Stayed at IBEROSTAR Paraiso Del Mar from 8-24 to 8-30 and I must say it was nice, the staff, food, drinks and entertainment was awesome. The hotel grounds were very beautiful. I’ve traveled to many islands, but never stayed at hotel as big as IBEROSTAR Paraiso Del Mar, 4 hotels in one. Love it!!! Jesus the concierge was very nice and helpful, he helped me from the time I got there until the time I left. I would stay here again and would recommend anyone who’s visiting Riviera Maya to stay here, you won’t go wrong!!! I would also recommend doing zip lining, if you like being Adventurous
