Amazing resort. Great food. Amazing newly renovated gym. They are currently making a separate gym for children beside the adult gym. You will be happy you made this choice for vacation. We went with a latino dance group and everyone had a great time. Went snorkling and was a great time.

My husband and I stood at the Iberostar Paraisio Del Mar from 9/15-9/18. I was honestly not impressed with our overall experience at the resort. We arrived and were greeted by a check in clerk who was more focused on upselling us on an upgraded room then getting us checked in. We then were sent over to Concierge. Concierge was very informative but quickly made it clear he was trying to upsell us on purchasing a timeshare. We were suppose to receive a $300 credit by booking with Iberostar. The gentleman-Ricardo stated he couldn’t give it to us as our room wasn’t in the system, yet he was able to make us a reservation with our room...in the system. He stated for us to think about visiting the Paraisio Maya for breakfast to attend a seminar on the timeshare and come back later to talk and get our credit. Ricardo was not available when we arrived but met another Concierge who was also more focused on inviting us to “breakfast” at the Maya. Meeting this particular concierge he stated for us to come back to get our $300 credit vouchers in 15 minutes as his printer took a while to boot up (his printer was on and ready). The food was bland. All drinks had a siginificant after taste of coconut. When ordering certain beverages bartenders at different bars “didn’t have something to make some basic particular drinks”. The concierge made mention of a phone application for Iberostar which I thought was a great idea given you had access to all ammenties on the property at the palm of your hand. The downside was the phone application was not updated. Places would show they were open we would walk to the place and it was closed. Another down side was a lot of the restaurants and theater was outdoors. The location is infested with mosquitoes. So the outdoor locations were not enjoyable most of the time. Room service is only open until 11pm and the cart service takes forever to come in the couple of times we called to have a cart sent to us. The pool was at a high tempature and at times not enjoyable given the extreme heat in Mexico. The resort had 2 pools but by day 2 the other pool without a swim up bar was closed due to tiles inside the pool breaking or lifting and people getting hurt. The AC in the room was also not great. I was not impressed with our overall stay although the beach and pool area was nice.

We stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar for 5 nights, Sept 12-17. The grounds were beautiful with lots of wildlife and the rooms were nice as well. Nice family friendly resort with decent nightlife entertainment. I had an ocean front junior suite, room 1010 and it was completely worth it! My backyard was the beach. However; the grounds and rooms cannot make up for the lack of service, lack of air conditioned restaurants, and terrible food and drinks we had. The service here was hit or miss, at times I felt like I was the one inconveniencing the workers. Despite tipping well and being polite, we did not receive great service. Some staff were extremely rude and even had the nerve to have an attitude with us. From prior experience, service at an all inclusive resort can make or break a guests experience. Steakhouse Incident: We made a large reservation for 19 people at 7:30, initially it was supposed to be for 21 but 2 of our party were sick. The day of, our whole party of 21 showed up and I kindly asked the hostess if we could just squeeze 2 chairs in. The hostess proceeded to yell at me, I was shocked. After arguing and fighting for 15 min, she finally agreed. The restaurant was HALF EMPTY by the way. Then the waiters were rude when our steaks didn't come out cooked correctly and we asked if they could just throw my rare steak on the grill to make it medium. Then they wouldn't serve one of our friends at 8pm bc the manager said it was too late. The food at the restaurants and buffet were not good, a 5 out of 10 putting it nicely. I think they serve better food in prison. I mean you will eventually find something you like because there is a lot of variety and you definitely won't go hungry because there is a lot of food. But quality over quantity. Be prepared to sweat your butt off at the restaurants. The drinks are watered down and you have to beg and plead for the good stuff. Once again, lots of variety in cocktails. I will say the bartender in the lobby was the best worker we encountered there! He was super kind and fast. You will also do lots of walking here because it is a large resort, but I did not mind this! Overall, we will not return here next time. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere nicer where you will be treated better!

We went to the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar for the second week of September with the goal of rest and relaxation. Check-in: We arrived at the hotel prior to their standard check-in time and were told that our room was not ready. I was surprised as the hotel should have known my approximate arrival time as I had booked via a large travel operator and coming by plane. Also it is obvious the hotel was far from being full. So I am not quite sure why there would not be a clean room available. On the other hand, right after check-in, we were approached by Ricardo that offered us to book all our A la carte restaurants right then. He explained to us the hotel amenities including 2 A la carte restaurants that don't need reservation. He asked us if there were a special occasion during our stay. As a matter of fact there was and we received a special gift on that day. He sure made us feel welcome to the place. On the negative side, there was a bit of a push for their club membership session – more on this later. Once we got our room, it looked very clean. The mini-fridge had plenty of water, pop and beer. Extra water was also provided for the coffee machine. everything got replenished on a daily basis. We had selected a superior room, So I am not quite sure what extra it provided. Property: This location is basically a complex of 5 Iberostar hotels. My understanding is that we were limited access to 2 of them that were together - The Del Mar and the Beach. I am not quite sure what the difference was between the 2 as they basically looked alike from the outside. A row of 10 bungalows having probably 30 rooms over 3 floors – no elevators (at least in ours). There are 2 loops, an inside loop used by pedestrians and an outside loop used by carts and joggers (haven't seen too many of those) which surround both hotels. The outside loop is about 2 km. So going from the beach to the front of the lobby is less than 1 km with everything being fairly flat. Even at the beach there is a boardwalk. Apart from the distance, this place is wheelchair accessible. On site, there are lots of vegetation and animals Workers: I would say that people on site are working very hard to keep the place in good shape and clean. On many occasions, people came by to ask us what we thought of the food and amenities. Someone came to make sure the room cleaning was done properly. Someone also left us a note telling us to use the safe as we had left a camera out on a table. As we were looking a map of the property to figure out the location of one restaurant, one of the activity entertainer came by and asked us if we needed help. After giving us direction, she invited us to some of the activities. This was the first time someone from a resort I went to called me back after filling a survey to ask more information on certain point I had commented on. Beach: While this was probably not the best week weather-wise for beach activities as there was lots of rain, we still managed to get into the water a few times. Sometime there were no seaweed, other time there were some clusters that could be avoided. Going in the water, there are some flat rocks to avoid but I did not feel the need to use my water shoes. At the beach, there were some waiter coming to ask you if you needed drinks. There was also a snack bar serving Hamburgers, hotdogs and nachos (chips and melted cheese). Pool: They have a very long pool that is divided in sections in order to separate activities. Parts of it goes up to almost 5 feet while other parts in only 2 feet deep. Food: I thought the food was good. Some of it could be a little warmer and have a little more flavour but here you trying to appeal to possibly thousand of people with their own taste in food. Drinks: while not being heavy drinkers, we still feel the drinks were on the weak side. On the other hand, we did not see drunk people like at other resorts. Club Membership: We were asked to attend this presentation that would last 90 minutes over a wonderful breakfast and at the end would receive a $70. Well the presentation does not last 90 minutes as we ended up leaving after 3 hours and the wonderful breakfast is mainly the same buffet style breakfast we would have received at our hotel. What we are being presented is apparently a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy this package at a premium cost that will save you money for further vacations by booking directly through Iberostar. First of all, once you accept that you will attend, you keep receiving recall to make sure you won't bug off on them. At the presentation, they were supposed to show the better hotels we could have access to at a cheaper rate but they never did. On the other hand, they present you with packages requiring a down payment payable the same day on your credit card and the remaining being financed over multiple years. While in theory, the numbers presented for further vacation sounds great (you don't really have a way to confirm those numbers) - I don't see why the membership should be that high and I don't see why they use such pressure tactics to get you to sign. At least, we've done it and believe them when they say the offer won't happen again!! Would I go again? Possibly if the price is right.

Not even a decent experience

I was from August 31st to Sept 3rd in this hotel, Maybe I have higher standards for hotel but this definitely was below average. With the exception of the Brazilian Restaurant food sucked, I did not have any alcoholic drinks so I can't comment on that. But the service is either great from some employees, to entirely bad from others. the concierge that was assigned was Ricardo (who provided excellent service and was very helpful), but there was not much that he was allowed to do. In every single hotel that I have visited in the past you are allowed to make 1 reservation at a restaurant per night, for some reason here you are only entitled to ONE reservation for the entire trip. Food in the buffet seems very low quality and no one seems to make an effort to make you feel valued in the hotel. Trying to get one of the cars to move you from one point to the other is a hassle, and at one point at 1:00 AM, I was trying to stop an employee driving a car to ask him where was I able to get something to eat at that time, and the guys SIMPLY IGNORED ME like I was nobody, probably thinking that I wanted to get into the car. He should've at least acknowledge me or ask me if I needed something. All the efforts move towards trying to sign you up for a club membership, but nobody makes an effort to make you feel welcomed in order for you to come back. Even at an all inclusive hotel, they make you feel like you need to pay for everything that is not crap. With the exception of Ricardo's service everything else was below average I can truly tell you that is very unlikely that I will come back to this hotel.
