Upon check in I was told the room I paid extra for wasn't available so I was put in a small room with 2 double beds not what I wanted for a get away with my husband so I complained first told I could move next day then told next week so I went to desk and complained and was moved within 2 min. room was nice. Pool was very dirty every day. Only one swim bar open so was very busy we had to order 4 drinks ar a time just to get drinks. Staff for the most part weren't friendly. Felt like when they saw our blue wrist band we were treated differently. Spoke with others who had been there before and they said they would never come back it had changed in a year. Set a glass outside our door and it sat there for 3 days. Had to wait along time for a ride to anywhere since the resort was so big you really needed to ride everywhere. S a lot of time was wasted waiting for a ride or walking. While eating one night workers came by with a back pack blower on and were spraying bug spray came right in on our food needless to say we didn't eat that night. Pool was always dirty no matter what time never saw anyone ever clean it. I have pictures of the filth. Felt that the resort was very understaffed.

The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The food was excellent, especially in the specialty restaurants. The entertainment was not the greatest and the venue was not air conditioned, so it was not comfortable to sit and watch. The rooms were nice, but the air conditioner could have been a bit cooler as well. Plenty of chairs around the massive pool area, but not on the beach.

Great Vacay - Friendly Staff & Beautiful Property

This was my first time to Mexico and I was not sure what to expect but the reviews of Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar seemed good and my boyfriend and I were looking for a budget-friendly vacay. I will start off by saying that this is a great choice for those like us who are "ballin' on a budget" - you get a lot of value for your money with the beautiful resort, nice rooms, and amazing service. Other highlights of our trip included the amazing bartenders who all went out of their way to make sure we had plenty to drink and that our drinks were made the way we liked. The entertainment team did a great job organizing fun activities during the day - we had a blast playing pool volleyball, horseshoe games on the beach, and even lost terribly at the beer chugging contest! The shows at night were a lot of fun too - we saw a "Dancing through the decades" show with music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s as well as a very entertaining magic show our last night. The only things that I took points off the review for are the far distances required to walk to the pool, beach, lobby, etc. - we were in building 1600 and were fairly close to the pool but had a 5 minute walk each way to the lobby or beach and I would have liked if everything was a bit more central. That being said, the grounds are immaculately clean and we saw so many cool exotic animals during our walks such as flamingos, lizards, swans, peacocks, and coatis (my favorite!) so that made up for the long walks. The food was hit or miss - the buffet wasn't bad for the most part, it really just depends what you get. We tried the Mediterranean and Brazilian a la carte restaurants but accidentally missed Japanese due to a long nap after a few too many Bahama Mamas our first night! The Mediterranean was just okay - the lobster I had was very dry but the steak was pretty good. We really enjoyed the Brazilian and enjoyed all of the options available to try - I stayed away from the cow thyroid but the BF was more adventurous! I had read good reviews about the Japanese restaurant so we are still both kicking ourselves for missing it. Overall, we had an amazing time at this beautiful resort and would recommend it for the price we paid. The staff was all super friendly and is devoted to making sure you have an awesome vacay and the value is very good. P.S. Be sure to check out the unique Star Wars themed disco next door at Paraiso Beach - we had a blast and it was one of our favorite nights!

I will write a bigger review on trip advisor but to make a long story short we had to extend our stay twice due to hurricane Irma. Our four night trip turned into 12. We have been very lucky to have been able to continue our stay here and the hotel gave us cheaper rates to accommodate our unexpected extended stay. We will definitely be coming back.

Overall our family (19) had a very good experience. All went very smoothly overall. Was disappointed that we were not all in the same building as requested..and the rooms we requested several were to be adjoining rooms (especially for my 82 year old father). That was about the only drawback..and there was no real effort to ever try to correct this throughout the week.

I cannot stress enough how wonderful the staff was at this resort. Not only was the resort very beautiful, I met not one staff member that provided less than superior service. From the front door to the back we were pleased and made to feel welcomed. This includes the spa staff and shopkeepers as well. Thank you.

large resort, but did not mind the distance to walk from place to place. hotel grounds were fairly well kept. Food was pretty good, some hits & some misses as with most resorts. the highlight was the meal at the Brazilian a la carte. stayed in a base level hotel room and thought it was was good enough, no problems. one of the best things about this resort was their kids club program - they did an extraordinary job - so may different activities for the kids. at night, kids performed various shows on the theater's stage before the main show - what a great way to build kid's self-esteem, confidence, & social skills!

My boyfriend and I traveled to this resort on August 24th-30th. Upon arrival check in was fast, our room was absolutely amazing we were In building 17 on the third floor. It was close enough to both the beach/pool and the main lobby, no complaints. There was and endless supply of places to eat at this resort! The star rock cafe off of the lobby was an a la Carter restaurant without the reservation, food was great and it was air conditioned. The only complaint I have is that the main buffet was open and not air conditioned which made it really hot to eat. Other than that food choices were great every night was different. The Brazilian a la Carte was amazing (7 courses of meat), also we tried the Mexican (it was okay) the Mediterranean (also okay), and the Japanese which I would highly recommend! Once you have booked your three a la cartes for your 7 day period, if you want more you can go to the lobby and ask about any open spots or cancellations! Mosquitos were really bad around this time so bring bug spray! Drinks were great lots to choose from (mojitos and riviera maya were the ones we drank frequently)They can pretty much make any drink. The entertainment wasn’t the best at night but it was fair. The pool entertainment and beach were always booming and making everyone have a great time. No shortage of hot water in the room and the a/c worked great the room was nice and cold. Overall it was an amazing vacation and would recommend this resort!!

We were very impressed with the amenities at this hotel All staff were very friendly and helpful I can’t say enough about the kids club. We were with 3 children ages 4,6 and 8 When it came to whether to spend each day with us or at kids club it was usually kids club. Although there were times it was. A toss up. Their care givers were awesome and very energetic with the children despite the long hours. From the daily activities to the evening performances the kids were very worn out by the end of each day. It made for a memorable vacation for each child. Thank you so much.

I was with a group of eleven staying at this resort October 9-14 2017. The resort is lovely. The pool is huge, the pool bars are fun and friendly, and the beach is terrific. This is the second visit to this resort for me and some of the others in our group. It is starting to look a little tired. I will start my review with the rooms. We initially checked in to building 17. This building is close to the restaurants and lobby area but a good walk to the beach. We asked to move and the next morning we checked in to building 12. It did cost extra to upgrade our location. Building 12 is the perfect location to the pool and beach. It is a walk to the lobby but in the evening there are a lot of shuttles running to take you there so it was not an issue for us. The room is very spacious. The mattress was not that great as you could really feel springs in it. The a/c worked much better than in building 17 but the thermostat was also set lower. Be sure to have yours set at 18.0 for maximum coolness. Our room had a walk in shower and very good water pressure. The pool area is huge. You can always find a chair and shade. There are quiet areas, kids areas, bar areas, and activity areas. You can always find a suitable spot for your pool needs. The beach was lovely. There are many palapas and we always got lucky finding enough chairs for our group no matter what time we headed to the beach. The water was so relaxing. A storm did pass through so it got a bit rough one day but it was bearable. There is a little buffet at the beach that is open for lunch. It served hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and usually another choice each day. Ice cream was available as well. The beach bar had excellent service. There was a self serve area for water and soft drinks too. There was a boardwalk sidewalk that winded through the beach and bar area. This is a nice addition especially for those with mobility issues. For breakfast we always ate at the buffet closest to the beach on the Del Mar side. The food offered was good. The only complaint I had was the dishes offered were not replenished. We usually got to breakfast around 10 1030 and each day everything was half full or empty. It is not acceptable, to me, to not have bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and either the french toast or pancakes available for the entire breakfast service time. It was a disappointment as breakfast is our favorite meal of the day while on vacation. For lunch we usually ate at the buffet on the Paraiso Beach side of the resort. Selection was good. Again, depending on the time we arrived, some of the food was either picked over or completely empty. For dinner, we ate at the Japanese, Mexican, and Steak restaurants. All were acceptable. My steak, however, was really, really tough but I was the only person in our group of eleven with an issue. Again, at these restaurants the appetizers and desserts were picked over or empty by the time we arrived. We had the late dinner seating so we were seated anytime between 830 or 9 pm. Most important regarding the food was the service and it was excellent!! The servers were very friendly and attentive. The serving staff was THE BEST. It always seemed to me the kitchen was focused on preparing the next meal service instead of being attentive to the current meal service. This is a management problem and I do hope management recognizes the issue and makes corrections. One glaring example was the buffet during our visit to the Steak House was torn down before we were finished with our appetizers. If we wanted more there was no opportunity to have more. I do not think this is courteous. The pool area is spacious and the pool bar was fun. The activities staff was great and the music was good. Overall the resort is lovely and the staff is exceptional. For the price we paid it was worth it. I am not sure we will be back for a third time but I do not discourage anyone from visiting the Del Mar. Thanks again to the great service staff that made our stay a wonderful one!
