Really beautiful, jungle feel to the grounds, while well maintained, gave a feeling of privacy. The grounds never felt busy or crowded. The plethora of animals and birds was an unexpected surprise, which, being animal lovers, we adored. The buffet food was adequate, but unexciting, while the specialty restaurants were outstanding. Avoid The room service pizza at all costs! The beach was clean and not overcrowded, with refreshments close to hand. The pool was pristine. The public buildings are gorgeous, with polished marble floors weaving between living ponds inhabited by fish, turtles, black and white swans, ducks and flamingoes. I experienced one very surly, dude bartender, who, after I ordered a cocktail (my only one of the day) snapped at my back as I turned "see you again in five minutes!". I understand he probably deals with some unpleasant heavy drinkers, but this treatment of a guest, in mid-afternoon, was a real downer. Aside from that one experience, the staff could not have been more pleasant, always offering a cheerful greeting when paths crossed, regardless of their roles. Jonathan, the Apple rep on site, was so kind and helpful, offering help with translation for a tour gone wrong (not booked through Apple) and aiding us in booking two other tours. The Apple recommended tours really were the best. Trust them to get you where you want to go, at a fair price. Overall, I hope to repeat the experience, and will recommend it to others!

The beach and pool areas were amazing. It was very tropical which we like. However, the food was terrible. The buffet food was the worst I've had at an all inclusive. The ala carte restaurants were just fair. The room was upgraded but was no bigger than a standard room and we had no coffee pot for the morning. The shower water went from really hot to cold while showering. Certainly not what I expected with an upgraded room and great apple rating. The worst part was that gave you a towel card and if you didn't return at the end of the week they charged you 10.00 for the towel. Absolutely ridiculous policy when your getting in and out of the pool. What are you supposed to do, take the pool in the towel so someone doesn't steal yours!? Will not stay here again.

Our all-inclusive stay at Iberostar del Mar was amazing for the price we paid! It far exceeded our expectations and surpassed the quality of a previous all-inclusive resort in Cancun. We loved the proximity to great scuba diving and snorkeling. Next time, I'll spend more time with a good book on the beach on one of the many cabanas/sleeper lounges or in the perfect aqua water on the beach. I loved being able to order a drink or snack right on the beach, with no money exchanging hands. What a great place! Great restaurants and buffets throughout and available golf carts to carry you wherever you want to go. The pathways and beautiful landscaped areas invite evening strolls too.

Almost everything about our trip was amazing except the food. Highly disappointed in almost everything. Need better quality even at the a la carte. Japanese was good but Mediterranean was not at all. Service every where was nice. Workers were so friendly and nice. Most hard working people I've seen. Food ruined the experience and would make us not go back.

Upon check in I was told the room I paid extra for wasn't available so I was put in a small room with 2 double beds not what I wanted for a get away with my husband so I complained first told I could move next day then told next week so I went to desk and complained and was moved within 2 min. room was nice. Pool was very dirty every day. Only one swim bar open so was very busy we had to order 4 drinks ar a time just to get drinks. Staff for the most part weren't friendly. Felt like when they saw our blue wrist band we were treated differently. Spoke with others who had been there before and they said they would never come back it had changed in a year. Set a glass outside our door and it sat there for 3 days. Had to wait along time for a ride to anywhere since the resort was so big you really needed to ride everywhere. S a lot of time was wasted waiting for a ride or walking. While eating one night workers came by with a back pack blower on and were spraying bug spray came right in on our food needless to say we didn't eat that night. Pool was always dirty no matter what time never saw anyone ever clean it. I have pictures of the filth. Felt that the resort was very understaffed.

The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The food was excellent, especially in the specialty restaurants. The entertainment was not the greatest and the venue was not air conditioned, so it was not comfortable to sit and watch. The rooms were nice, but the air conditioner could have been a bit cooler as well. Plenty of chairs around the massive pool area, but not on the beach.

Great Vacay - Friendly Staff & Beautiful Property
ALEXANDRA A.
Sep 19 2017
This was my first time to Mexico and I was not sure what to expect but the reviews of Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar seemed good and my boyfriend and I were looking for a budget-friendly vacay. I will start off by saying that this is a great choice for those like us who are "ballin' on a budget" - you get a lot of value for your money with the beautiful resort, nice rooms, and amazing service. Other highlights of our trip included the amazing bartenders who all went out of their way to make sure we had plenty to drink and that our drinks were made the way we liked. The entertainment team did a great job organizing fun activities during the day - we had a blast playing pool volleyball, horseshoe games on the beach, and even lost terribly at the beer chugging contest! The shows at night were a lot of fun too - we saw a "Dancing through the decades" show with music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s as well as a very entertaining magic show our last night. The only things that I took points off the review for are the far distances required to walk to the pool, beach, lobby, etc. - we were in building 1600 and were fairly close to the pool but had a 5 minute walk each way to the lobby or beach and I would have liked if everything was a bit more central. That being said, the grounds are immaculately clean and we saw so many cool exotic animals during our walks such as flamingos, lizards, swans, peacocks, and coatis (my favorite!) so that made up for the long walks. The food was hit or miss - the buffet wasn't bad for the most part, it really just depends what you get. We tried the Mediterranean and Brazilian a la carte restaurants but accidentally missed Japanese due to a long nap after a few too many Bahama Mamas our first night! The Mediterranean was just okay - the lobster I had was very dry but the steak was pretty good. We really enjoyed the Brazilian and enjoyed all of the options available to try - I stayed away from the cow thyroid but the BF was more adventurous! I had read good reviews about the Japanese restaurant so we are still both kicking ourselves for missing it. Overall, we had an amazing time at this beautiful resort and would recommend it for the price we paid. The staff was all super friendly and is devoted to making sure you have an awesome vacay and the value is very good. P.S. Be sure to check out the unique Star Wars themed disco next door at Paraiso Beach - we had a blast and it was one of our favorite nights!

I will write a bigger review on trip advisor but to make a long story short we had to extend our stay twice due to hurricane Irma. Our four night trip turned into 12. We have been very lucky to have been able to continue our stay here and the hotel gave us cheaper rates to accommodate our unexpected extended stay. We will definitely be coming back.

I stayed for 8 days from December 5-12. This is the second time I've stayed at this resort. I have stayed at many other Iberostars as well. This resort is very welcoming and I never have any issues with my stay. Had a first floor pool view room that was nice and ready on my arrival. The Taco restaraunt in the shopping area is great. As is the other food as well. I did a lot of scuba diving from Dressel Divers as well for the length of my stay. Nothing to say but awesome things about the whole staff at Dressel Divers. All the divemasters and other divers were great! Would recommend to anyone.

Great Stay!

I went on this trip to celebrate graduating from college. Iberostar has been by far one of the best places I have stayed at in Mexico. The staff were wonderful and remembered us everyday! The nightly shows were awesome, especially the circus themed night. The grounds were kept clean, the beach was beautiful, and the room was nice. There was always something to do at the resort, the staff were really engaging with this. Even though we had red flags everyday we still got to play and have fun in the ocean on a sand bar! Overall it was a great stay! I would gladly go back in a heartbeat.

Stayed here with a group of 19 friends to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday. The overall resort is beautiful in terms of architecture, decor, and landscape. Everything is very well maintained. The whole entire place is simply massive! The staff are simply amazing too -- very friendly, hospitable, respectful, cordial, and hard working. Took one one star because the food definitely needs to be worked on in terms of taste and flavors. A bit too lackluster for me. I wouldn't mind coming back here. As mentioned before, the place is massive and is filled with a bunch of shops, stores, and other amenities.

"Paraiso" as if in.... paradise.......

I'll give you a fair warning - this review will be biased :) After years of visiting Cuba due to convenience and cheap prices, the situation reversed this year. Iberostar came in cheaper than Memories Jibacoa /Varadero area/, although with a side trip to Chicago /to our cousins nevertheless/. We stayed there Nov.29 to Dec.06, a group of 8 people in total. Well, where do I start? With the "paradise", I guess. Some people find it a nuisance but not us - I am talking about the fauna at Del Mar. We loved the sight of coatis hanging around, totally harmless and cute, iguanas lounging in the sun; we even saw a squirrel, some capybaras/?/, vibrantly colored flamingos, black swans with truly red beaks, few species of birds, etc. Not to forget about some rather small but healthy looking cats concentrated about the bushes at the entrance of Del Mar buffet. We didn't feed any of the animals, and we were careful around coatis with our food, so no problems with them trying to partake in our meal :). To each their own, but to me it is a memory that will keep me coming back with more family and friends. Also the flora on this Iberostar property... Originally we were supposed to be in the Beach section, but to accommodate our request for 4 rooms close together, we were placed on the ground floor in building 17, Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar. I usually like to get upper floors, but our room /1711/ was so nicely placed that I was glad to get it. Walking the grounds of both: Beach and Del Mar, next time I would like to book Del Mar. Walking to the beach or to the buffet, is like going thru some tropical forest, surprisingly without the annoying bug presence. We didn't bring any bug spray with us, and didn't really need it throughout the week. In general, grounds were beautiful and nicely maintained. It felt like an eco-reserve with a luxurious touch of marble walkways thru the ponds. The resort was at full occupancy, yet it didn't feel crowded at all /buffets, bars.../. It was challenging to find beach loungers for all 8 of us, but since everybody was on different schedule, 2 or 3 loungers at a time were easier to find and was sufficient for us /volleyball games, swimming in Caribbean Sea, pool visits, coffee breaks/. The resort advertises "no chair reservation policy", but I am not sure how strictly it was enforced. We usually got to the beach @ 10 am, and found our 2-3 chairs no problem. Food......... thumbs up @10 times over Cuba /4.5 stars that we visited previously/. All staff /buffets, bars, cafes, etc./ - smiling and very pleasant. Tips were not really expected and not really acknowledged - it didn't really make a difference if we tipped or not. Pool.... big one....... lots of loungers over there, lots of nooks and crannies, swim up bar... Loved that somewhat chilling/cooler water in the pool after being "kissed" by the sun too much .... :) "Time share" presentations - was lucky enough to politely avoid them, even with the incentive of 150USD value Iberostar dollars. We "grilled" enough travel reps over the trips /Tulum, Akumal, Cozumel/ but our "maybe later" was taken with a smile and just invitation to book with them, no pressure to book it on the spot. Daughter went diving with Tank-Ha diving center - better priced over Dressler divers /on the resort/, but to do that, she had to travel to Playa del Carmen on taxi or resort collectivo, which was safe and convenient. Exchange rate was 17 Mxp to 1 USD at the hotel. Playa del Carmen offered 18.5 Mxp at that time. We used the NovaScotia Bank ATM /in PDC/ to exchange some of our money. Well, that review is long enough, I guess. I could go on and on... But one thing is sure: after visiting Mexico /and this particular resort/ for the first time, it will never be the same to us. We will still go /to Cuba/ but comparisons between those two countries will always come to mind, lol :)

Beautiful! There were 10 of us in our party. del Mar moved all of us to one building which was a half a block from the beach!! Did not expect it. The rooms were clean and well stocked with water every day. The beach and pool area were always clean. The activities they had were fun! The only complaint...their scheduling and posting of events were NOT always accurate. We wanted to to go Mass and they told us the wrong time, not once but 2 other times. We went to the archery range and they were shoot rifles, which we did! The entertainment was good, but again. We didn't really see a posted schedule of when things were starting. They had a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, we didn't know about it! I would go back to de Mar though!
