Apple Vacations Traveller Reviews
This hotel needs an update.
This place needs all new showers and toilets. We had to mess with the toilet every time we flushed it.
Air Conditioner was the wrost even after they switched our room. Guess is what they can do. The VIP has alot of benefits and one of them is 24 hr. Room service. My kids ordered three different times on different days ice cream "something in the menu" they took the order and it never delivered and if you call to find out the status they won't pick up. Seaweed was horrible but uncontrollable. Beach is nice overall hotel and employees are very nice great attitude and energy. If you tip them they won't forget you. Premium drinks with vip. Cigars are a gift not all that and everyone gets a bottle of brutal. The maid does pop up early. Fills the fridge up with beers soda bottles come and sprite and alot of waters. They will deliver juice if you ask guest services. Most channels are in Spanish but who cares you are there to enjoy. Ask for a main pool room great music. Then party starts at 4 and beach is close.
Caribe Club Princess
Good Hotel, staff very friendly, food at the buffet was okay, restaurants food was good. Beach was amazing, some day there was a lot of seaweed but cannot complain, I would recommend to hotel to have new sunbeds in the beach, most were old and I fell a couple of times. Staff was very friendly. Waiting for the trolley took a long time, it was faster to walk from lobby to hotel rooms. Entertainment was okay. Hotel grounds were clean and pretty. I do have to say that maybe hotel needs to check door lock before allowing customers to go in the rooms. Security came two times to our room to change the battery packs to our room as the key was not working. This is twice in one week were we had to wait for them and change battery packs and security took for ever. Another family had the same problem and we had to call the reception area for them as it was late at night. I would go back to hotel as the beach area and some restaurants were very good.
AC was LTA wife got food poisoning the second day. We were abandoned by the bus on a city tour. My dive excursion was the highlight...we will NOT return to DR, and we have been literally around the world, the worst. If there was a satisfaction guarantee I would demand a 100% refund.
Very Entertaining Hotel
This was the very first all inclusive vacation that I have taken. I have to admit I was extremely nervous about traveling out of the country for the first time knowing that there was going to be a language barrier. A lot of the hotel staff could understand and speak English. I also appreciated that an apple vacation rep was there to meet us on our second day to answer any questions that we had, and help us to book our excursions. The fun and exotic culture of the Dominican really was the highlight of the trip. There were a lot of fun games and music and dancing at the pool. The swim up bar with entertaining bartenders was a fun time! I would highly recommend this hotel.
Caribi Club Princess
It was what I expected. For the price I felt it was a good value.
Great Vacation! My group choose to upgrade to VIP for the minor extra cost. When arrived we were greeted personally and were given directions and explanations. The rooms were large and well kept by the house keeping staff. The only issues with the room were a leak in the room after a heavy rain storm and the limited water pressure in the shower. The resort had enough pools for the people and the beach was amazing with plenty of activities. We spent most of our time in the "sunken" pool bar. The food was excellent at each of the restaurants and the buffet. Very great experience!
Not worth staying at this resort
Check in time over one hour. Hotel is old and in need of major repairs. Bed hard, 2 pillows per bed and they were flat, no facecloth after requesting for 5 days. Restaurant hard to get into reservation must be made in person at 8:00 am two days before. Even though restaurant is empty they won't take walk ins. No internet service in hotel except in lobby. Air conditioning in rooms are Old and many in my party had non working units. The pools are not clean and need to be marcite is chipped and rough. On the weekends they allow vendors around pools. Calling front desk is almost a waste of time takes forgive for them to answer. Most of the staff only speaks Spanish so difficult to communicate. I do not under any circumstances recommend this hotel. The only thing I can say is Felipe representative for Apple vacation is very helpful so if you find yourself there he is the most helpful.
Not a 4 star
This aging facility has poor service, fair food options and poor customer service. Water in hotel is not potable. You will get inconsistent information on how to reserve at the specialty restaurants. A call for a porter may not get relayed IF someone answers the telephone .
If you bring US dollars make sure you have lots of $1 bills to make exact change. I had to buy extra things just to get to the exact amount because they stated they didn't have US change. Also. Don't drink the water out of sinks, however the rest on the water at the resort is safe to drink! Overall great trip, friendly people, interactive employees, and meeting people from all
Over the world is nice!
Caribe Princess Resort and Spa Poor services
When we arrived at the airport the reservations for our transportation were made under my son's name(he is 16yo). The apple rep that made our reservations stated the transportation to and from will be Apple vacations no it wasn't the transportation company that was taking us and picking us up was Ameristar. We arrived at 12:45pm at the hotel our room was not ready until 4pm. It was hot we were up since 3am and very tired, so waiting in that heat was awful. The main lobby had no AC. To make reservations for the restaurants we had to go some where else besides the main lobby and wait on this line that very in convienent. You could not make reservation for all the days you were there at once, you could only make the reservations for the restaurants 3 days at a time, Horrible!!! The worst thing about the experience at this resort was the soliciating of the vendors for vacation packages and excursions, they were obnoxious and very persistent even if you said no. The staff at the bar were not friendly at all, if you asked them for a drink they did not greet you with courtesy. Some of the men bar tenders that worked the bar by the beach were very vulgar, using sexual language around the women and children. I made an appointment at the spa the service was poor and not up to par. I get to the spa the receptionist saw I came from the beach did offer me to clean up prior to my facial, did not offer me a drink. The massage therapist did not give me a robe to put on and the room was very cold, no relaxing music was on, and she covered me was with a beach towel, the spa had poor very service.
The resort was not clean and first aide staff and skills were very poor. We witnessed some people get cut and blood spilled all over the floor no one came with bleach to clean up the blood, no one used gloves or knew how to give first aide. The area around the pool was slippery when wet and I witnessed 2 people fall due to pool areas conditions. People littered and it was not cleaned up until the next morning. The pool water was very warm and cloudy. We will not recommend this resort.

I stayed here in September and felt I took a chance after some of the reviews. On arrival I was given a welcome drink and free upgrade to an upper floor suite.
The room was nice and tropical with a vaulted wooden ceiling. I had a view of one of their beautiful pools and a sea view.
My bed was clean and comfy and large. Reviews have slated the food but honestly there's something here for everyone . Food is plentiful and the restaurants are nice. Not a la carte like at home but for the price you can't beat it.
The beach is lovely. If anything I would prefer there were not so many people trying to sell me stuff but they are polite and "no thank you " works.
The staff here work so hard and are really sweet.
On trips you see how Dominicans live and it makes you grateful for all you have. Homes range from normal flats and pretty concrete villas to huts.
The sun shone the drinks flowed and everyone smiled and danced to the music that plays everywhere.
Then Hurricane Maria struck. We were told that we would have to share our room with another couple for the storm. They were English so we had things in common and hankered down for the evening . Being involved in a cat 4-5 hurricane was as worrying as it sounds . The staff worked non stop and ensured that we were ok not knowing how their families are or their own homes. They risked their safety for ours and ensured we wanted for nothing. The next day the place was severely effected and it was heartbreaking to see how the beautifully manicured grounds had suffered. Again the clean up began immediately.
So cutting it short.
The wi fi is rubbish
Air con not brilliant
The food is good
This hotel is amazing value for money, it's like a little village.
It's not perfect but it has charm
It's not five star but you have more than you need
It is very pretty
The beach is awesome
You will have a good time
The staff are amazing so
Fight your deepest urges to be cheap and leave a tip.
Leave a big tip.
We survived Hurricane Irma
We travelled to Hotel Caribe club Princess with friends. This was our third visit to the island. I was very nervous about returning as I was very ill the previous time with an allergic reaction to seafood. The hotel could do with a little refurbishment but the rooms are comfortable. The shower in the room was a bit hit and miss. Sometimes there was hot water, another day it was cold. We even had a day when the water went off mid shower. There are plenty of restaurants, my favourite being the Mexican where you can get a huge steak. The beach was full of seaweed which the staff tried to clear every day. There were plenty of sun beds and parasols both on the beach and by the three pools. There are two quiet pools where the sun beds and parasols were plentiful. We walked through the mangrove swamp nearly every day encountering ducks, seeing turtles in the swamp and even an Iguana a couple of times. We were there when Hurricane Irma came. Our room was selected to share with others as a place of safety. We had four people to stay but I have to say I was not impressed to come back and find a Spanish couple had let themselves into our room and were making up their bed. This couple did not speak one word to us the entire time they were there. It would have been much better if we had shared with English speaking people. My husband was looking forward to going on the catamaran which was in the all inclusive. When they went to book it they were told they would have to pay thirty dollars insurance. In my opinion this should be stated in the brochure. Overall we had a lovely holiday. Special thanks to Judith who was our Guest Adviser and she booked all our restaurants for us. Sorry we didn't get to say goodbye. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends, it is good value for money
We survived hurricane Irma!!!!
I was on my second trip to the Caribe Club Princess. My second review will come a little later!!!
In this article I wanted to thank management in there response to hurricane Irma. I was in room 2112 and which is a ocean front room. On the day of the hurricane ( it was a sunny day.) during the late afternoon the weather started to deteriorate. As a paramedic and firefighter I offered my assistance if conditions became bad! Management accepted my offering and wanted to know where I was in case they needed me. The resort secured all chairs, cut coconuts from palm tress in preparation of the storm. They moved all guest that were in safe rooms on the 3rd floor. This was to protect from a storm surge. We he 7 guest in our safe room. The resort provided emergency rations to each room. Candles, food , toilet paper... the most violent part of the storm was around 2 am. In the morning the storm had past by. Security still kept guest from going out to the main areas. Beach, pools till they could access that all was safe. They provided all guest with coffee in the early morning. The resort was very lucky with this storm. Even Canada sent 10 planes for evacuation. There was a lot of debris around but the resort cleaned very quickly.
All in All I must give this resort a big A-Plus for its response for a natural disaster!!!!!
Thank you Caribe Club Princess!!
Two week relaxation
We travelled to Caribe Club Princess as a group of four, two couples in our 60's. We were a little worried about this resort after reading a few bad reports on TripAdvisor, but we all agreed that this was a good hotel, nothing like some of the bad reviews. The rooms are a little dated but are ok for a holiday ( you only really sleep in them and shower anyway). The showers in the bathroom always had plenty of hot water, but lacked a bit of pressure. We also enjoyed the meals in the restaurants, especially the 'Shanghay', We also thought the main buffet was very good with plenty to choose from every morning and evening. The beach was excellent, you could have a long walk in either direction and the sea was great for dip, even when the waves were a little high after the storm. All the pools were very nice and clean, with the two quiet pools easy to find sunshades. We enjoyed our walks through the mangrove avoiding the man eating ducks and iguana ( that's what we told the grandchildren). We really enjoyed the coffee shop, with lots of variety of coffee's crepes and ice creams. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We were at the hotel when 'Irma' arrived and our room was selected as a room of refuge and we had five people to stay over night, we had good laugh about the situation and got on fine during the night. The only things that bothered my wife and I was having an enjoining door in our room, you could hear the next door room very clearly. We also believe that the 'catamarans' advertised as all inclusive are not as you have to pay insurance to use them. One other thing we didn't like was if you wanted a safety deposit box you had to pay for them, $40 a week (first time this has happened on our 6th visit to Dominican Republic), but we all agreed we had a lovely relaxing holiday and would recommend this hotel to friends.
The price was to high
Nice resort but the hotel next to our pool was better for less price and we all shared everything . The only difference was they exit from the back of the Buffett everything else was shared and their price was a lot cheaper and their rooms was a lot nicer . The staff were great ,good food and very clean .
