Nice staff but terrible hotel
The restaurant and bar staff were awesome. Our room was old, bed uncomfortable with aged mattresses and the A/C did not function properly the entire stay. We went to the lobby desk 3 times to complain and ask for another room but we were told by Emmanuel (VIP Manager) and his staff that a better room was not available.
This hotel needs an update.
This place needs all new showers and toilets. We had to mess with the toilet every time we flushed it.
Air Conditioner was the wrost even after they switched our room. Guess is what they can do. The VIP has alot of benefits and one of them is 24 hr. Room service. My kids ordered three different times on different days ice cream "something in the menu" they took the order and it never delivered and if you call to find out the status they won't pick up. Seaweed was horrible but uncontrollable. Beach is nice overall hotel and employees are very nice great attitude and energy. If you tip them they won't forget you. Premium drinks with vip. Cigars are a gift not all that and everyone gets a bottle of brutal. The maid does pop up early. Fills the fridge up with beers soda bottles come and sprite and alot of waters. They will deliver juice if you ask guest services. Most channels are in Spanish but who cares you are there to enjoy. Ask for a main pool room great music. Then party starts at 4 and beach is close.
Caribe Club Princess
Good Hotel, staff very friendly, food at the buffet was okay, restaurants food was good. Beach was amazing, some day there was a lot of seaweed but cannot complain, I would recommend to hotel to have new sunbeds in the beach, most were old and I fell a couple of times. Staff was very friendly. Waiting for the trolley took a long time, it was faster to walk from lobby to hotel rooms. Entertainment was okay. Hotel grounds were clean and pretty. I do have to say that maybe hotel needs to check door lock before allowing customers to go in the rooms. Security came two times to our room to change the battery packs to our room as the key was not working. This is twice in one week were we had to wait for them and change battery packs and security took for ever. Another family had the same problem and we had to call the reception area for them as it was late at night. I would go back to hotel as the beach area and some restaurants were very good.
AC was LTA wife got food poisoning the second day. We were abandoned by the bus on a city tour. My dive excursion was the highlight...we will NOT return to DR, and we have been literally around the world, the worst. If there was a satisfaction guarantee I would demand a 100% refund.
Very Entertaining Hotel
This was the very first all inclusive vacation that I have taken. I have to admit I was extremely nervous about traveling out of the country for the first time knowing that there was going to be a language barrier. A lot of the hotel staff could understand and speak English. I also appreciated that an apple vacation rep was there to meet us on our second day to answer any questions that we had, and help us to book our excursions. The fun and exotic culture of the Dominican really was the highlight of the trip. There were a lot of fun games and music and dancing at the pool. The swim up bar with entertaining bartenders was a fun time! I would highly recommend this hotel.

It was what I expected. For the price I felt it was a good value.
Great Vacation! My group choose to upgrade to VIP for the minor extra cost. When arrived we were greeted personally and were given directions and explanations. The rooms were large and well kept by the house keeping staff. The only issues with the room were a leak in the room after a heavy rain storm and the limited water pressure in the shower. The resort had enough pools for the people and the beach was amazing with plenty of activities. We spent most of our time in the "sunken" pool bar. The food was excellent at each of the restaurants and the buffet. Very great experience!
Not worth staying at this resort
Check in time over one hour. Hotel is old and in need of major repairs. Bed hard, 2 pillows per bed and they were flat, no facecloth after requesting for 5 days. Restaurant hard to get into reservation must be made in person at 8:00 am two days before. Even though restaurant is empty they won't take walk ins. No internet service in hotel except in lobby. Air conditioning in rooms are Old and many in my party had non working units. The pools are not clean and need to be marcite is chipped and rough. On the weekends they allow vendors around pools. Calling front desk is almost a waste of time takes forgive for them to answer. Most of the staff only speaks Spanish so difficult to communicate. I do not under any circumstances recommend this hotel. The only thing I can say is Felipe representative for Apple vacation is very helpful so if you find yourself there he is the most helpful.
Not a 4 star
This aging facility has poor service, fair food options and poor customer service. Water in hotel is not potable. You will get inconsistent information on how to reserve at the specialty restaurants. A call for a porter may not get relayed IF someone answers the telephone .
If you bring US dollars make sure you have lots of $1 bills to make exact change. I had to buy extra things just to get to the exact amount because they stated they didn't have US change. Also. Don't drink the water out of sinks, however the rest on the water at the resort is safe to drink! Overall great trip, friendly people, interactive employees, and meeting people from all

"Not a 4 star"
Stayed January 13 to 20, 2018 and when we got there, we thought, wow this is beautiful. We had stayed in a princess in Mexico so we thought we would get something great. That's not the case. Besides, the little stuff, like bugs in the room, slow service, poor English in the staff, the bars and bar staff were all pretty good. The resort it self was very nice. For me why I'm giving a 2 star out of 5 is the food. It was just garbage. The buffet is too big so I'm sure they have lot's of leftovers and they just merge one dish to another and name it something different. It was so bad. I ate fries and Buns all week. Maybe it's not Princess it's the Dominican Republic, but this is my 3rd time to DR and I'm done. But the hotel it self very, nice and met some awesome people but they need to do something about that food. Yuk.
Hotel and facility's are fine we as british had trouble with the buffet restaurant?? They don't cater for the British theme night every night for different country's except English chips is only an option every 2/3 days fish has bones in it if you like pasta and pizza you will be fine specialist restaurants were ok Brazilian is excellent diet coke is very limited in certain bars not available in the 24hr bar oh and DONKEY is available in the buffet restaurant don't think so Judith is a very special employer carnt do enough for you on front desk
The best of times, the worst of times...
We were a group of 12 adults all between 55 / 65. Arrived Jan 14, departed Jan 21. All from the US. First time to this resort.
Pros: Beautiful beach, beautiful grounds, buildings look great from the outside, service and employees were excellent! Food was satisfactory (nothing terrible, nothing superb). Drinks were great (and plentiful). We were surprised to see so few Americans there. Seemed to be mostly European and South American, which made it more fun. Most all employees spoke at least enough English that communication was not an issue.
Cons: Facility maintenance. Not sure when this resort was last remodeled, but it would appear that it may have been in the mid ‘80’s. Paint doesn’t fix everything... While everything was clean and neat, it would appear that not much has been spent on real maintenance issues in the rooms and infrastructure.
Overall, I would recommend this if you want a fun vacation at a reasonable price. Kind of the “Motel 6” of all-inclusives. We had a great time and so will you if you know going into it that this is an older resort with a few “issues” here and there.
I would like to congratulate the groundskeepers, as the grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. Housekeeping did a fine job. Food service workers were extremely friendly and outgoing. My only suggestion is that the management consider shutting down a building at a time and completely renovate (plumbing, electrical, structural). We had the VIP package and found it worth the price.
New Years at a resort
This was pretty much as we expected. The a la carte restaurants were very good. Our favourite was the Brazilian restaurant. La Cava restaurant was also very good. The beach was very nice. The bartenders were amazing. The entertainment is where they fell short. It was late at night and not very well organized. We were a group of 20 and one couple had many issues with their room. Overall, it was a very good experience. We did have an issue with the Seona Island excursion but that had nothing to do with the resort, it was through the Sunwing reps.
decent hotel and people
i have given this hotel 4 stars because it is in a lovely position well planed out and is a decent hotel to stay in,we booked the honeymoon suite not because it was our honeymoon but the wifes 50th birthday,i wouldn't book it again not worth the extra money in my opinion but saying that it did have a lovely view right on to the beach,the buffet is ok you will not starve but if you are very picky you might struggle a bit, the speciality restaurants are very good especially the Brazilian,we tended to book these rather than eat in the buffet which I don't think caters for the British very well,our air conditioning on the last couple of days kept kept stopping and starting which made our room very warm.reported it and they came out straight away and wouldn't you know it started up when he walked in the room,so he said ok and left then soon as he walked out of the door stopped again,reported this to the tui rep but nobody came out again,only one and a half days left so left it,if you get 2209 then the air con doesn't work,all in all a decent hotel with with some nice people,ps nearly forgot Judith in customer services what a diamond she is nothing is to much trouble for her she arranged birthday a birthday party for the us and the other two couples who had travelled with us,booked us all in to the restaurants we wanted,she needs a promotion at least,would I come here again probably not, but saying that we don't tend to stay in the same place twice
