Room 1: Shower, bathroom and toilet flooded, bathroom ceiling leaked, Room 2: No AC, smelly sewage water dripping from ceiling, broken TV
Renee Brown was my roommate. We experienced such serious problems in our first room they eventually moved us. Room 1 problems: bathroom ceiling leaked, toilet and shower both flooded. It was slippery, smelly and we couldn't dry anything in the bathroom. We could not use the hairdryer or get ready for dinner in the bathroom. It was a nightmare. We immediately complained and had to call and visit the front desk many times to get them fixed. The maintenance man came twice. His efforts resulted in no change. The manager moved us to another room, 1162. The AC was broken which made it nighmarishly hot. The TV did not work. The icing on the cake was that sewage water was dripping through the bathroom light fixture over the bathroom sink. We immediately reported the problems. I actually wrote a note to the manager. We called. We told the maids in the hallway. We followed up. They changed the light fixture but of course, the smelly water leak continued! The AC never worked. So it was a nightmare trip. Despite daily emails to Kimberly Perry who booked our trip and who was apparently back from vacation a couple of days before we were leaving, Apple Vacations did NOTHING to help. Kimberly Perry basically blew us off. After the trip was over, she sent an email telling me to call a generic phone number. She did not pass along any message or notes. She had a full list of problems with timely updates. Because of this nightmare experience, I want a refund. I will be reviewing Apple Vacations on outside sites. We went on the trip with 6 couples. All of our rooms had issues; water pipes breaking, toilets not working, AC not working (too cold & too hot), trouble with keycard entry, trouble with safes, no hot water, lost electricity twice, light switch exploded in room, room flooded from bathroom pipe, had to take thermostat apart to change temp, sliding doors did not work easily. The hotel is very tired & not well maintained. 9 of 12 had stomach issues. The staff was excellent, except the front desk. Check-in was difficult. Some had trouble getting towels from maids.

Nice staff but terrible hotel
The restaurant and bar staff were awesome. Our room was old, bed uncomfortable with aged mattresses and the A/C did not function properly the entire stay. We went to the lobby desk 3 times to complain and ask for another room but we were told by Emmanuel (VIP Manager) and his staff that a better room was not available.
This hotel needs an update.
This place needs all new showers and toilets. We had to mess with the toilet every time we flushed it.
Air Conditioner was the wrost even after they switched our room. Guess is what they can do. The VIP has alot of benefits and one of them is 24 hr. Room service. My kids ordered three different times on different days ice cream "something in the menu" they took the order and it never delivered and if you call to find out the status they won't pick up. Seaweed was horrible but uncontrollable. Beach is nice overall hotel and employees are very nice great attitude and energy. If you tip them they won't forget you. Premium drinks with vip. Cigars are a gift not all that and everyone gets a bottle of brutal. The maid does pop up early. Fills the fridge up with beers soda bottles come and sprite and alot of waters. They will deliver juice if you ask guest services. Most channels are in Spanish but who cares you are there to enjoy. Ask for a main pool room great music. Then party starts at 4 and beach is close.
Caribe Club Princess
Good Hotel, staff very friendly, food at the buffet was okay, restaurants food was good. Beach was amazing, some day there was a lot of seaweed but cannot complain, I would recommend to hotel to have new sunbeds in the beach, most were old and I fell a couple of times. Staff was very friendly. Waiting for the trolley took a long time, it was faster to walk from lobby to hotel rooms. Entertainment was okay. Hotel grounds were clean and pretty. I do have to say that maybe hotel needs to check door lock before allowing customers to go in the rooms. Security came two times to our room to change the battery packs to our room as the key was not working. This is twice in one week were we had to wait for them and change battery packs and security took for ever. Another family had the same problem and we had to call the reception area for them as it was late at night. I would go back to hotel as the beach area and some restaurants were very good.
AC was LTA wife got food poisoning the second day. We were abandoned by the bus on a city tour. My dive excursion was the highlight...we will NOT return to DR, and we have been literally around the world, the worst. If there was a satisfaction guarantee I would demand a 100% refund.
Very Entertaining Hotel
This was the very first all inclusive vacation that I have taken. I have to admit I was extremely nervous about traveling out of the country for the first time knowing that there was going to be a language barrier. A lot of the hotel staff could understand and speak English. I also appreciated that an apple vacation rep was there to meet us on our second day to answer any questions that we had, and help us to book our excursions. The fun and exotic culture of the Dominican really was the highlight of the trip. There were a lot of fun games and music and dancing at the pool. The swim up bar with entertaining bartenders was a fun time! I would highly recommend this hotel.
Caribi Club Princess
It was what I expected. For the price I felt it was a good value.

Fantastic hotel, location and staff
Firstly I would just like to say thank you to all the staff at Caribe club Princess, secondly, don’t believe all the negative comments that you read, there just is no pleasing some people.
I shall start with the negatives, they’re minimal but do need a mention.
1) The rooms, spacious, clean, air conditioned and ours was a fantastic location, however the bathroom was in need of attention and a re vamp, however it was clean so was adequate.
2) the sales men, VERY pushy, the ones who set up those stalls within the hotel grounds every week, do not take a simple no for an answer straight away, before I knew it I had a braclet attached to my ankle even though I said no thank you repeatedly.
3) a la Carte restaurants are just as good as the buffet but with less enjoyable surroundings in my opinion.
That’s enough with the negatives, onto the positives.
Checking in was a breeze, Emilio was so lovely, I asked if we could have a pool or a beach view, even though we were initially allocated a different room with a king size bed I changed to the pool view room which had 2 queen size beds instead, with the added bonus of a beach view as well as the main pool view. The room was very spacious with a good sized wardrobe, safe, tv and the fridge which was stocked daily by our lovely maid who we left a tip of $2 every day. The staff do not ask for tips or expect them but they do a fantastic job so out of courtesy we tipped now and again the bar staff or waiting on staff.
The hotel has absolutley beautiful surroundings and the ground on a whole are really well maintained, the groundskeepers work tirelessly day and night and it pays off, the mangroves are special, the wildlife is fascinating however if you don’t like birds this isn’t the place for you. There are turtles, iguanas, frogs, peacocks, storks, ducks and cats.
The pools are all a good size 2 have bars and music another is more quiet with ample sun beds at all of them plenty of shade if you need it under the parasols and palm trees.
The beach the first half of the week was beautiful plenty of sun beds and parasols and a long stretch you could walk for miles. The end of the week it became a little windy and there were excess amounts of seaweed, but the staff worked hard with tractors throughout the days clearing it as much as they possibly could, I think this was down to it being out of season though so next time would avoid the end of May.
The food was good, plenty of choice with a different theme every night in the buffet, our favourite was the Mexican night. Every day there was a pasta station, pizza, hot dogs and burgers for the fussy eaters. Then different meats, vegetables, rice and fruits which weren’t repetitive or boring. The omelettes for breakfast are on another level, these are a must try option.
The shops on the resort are well stocked but a little over priced.
The mosquitos aren’t a problem here either but there are some little critters that do bite the bottoms of your legs and ankles which we were told by other travellers that they were sand flies which aren’t visible to the naked eye, just make sure you take some bite cream with you if your prone to insect bites.
All in all a fantastic holiday, beautiful hotel, excellent food and wonderful staff.
Just arrived back to the UK after a lovely 10 night stay in the Caribe Club Princess with my partner. This hotel is perfect for all types of people, we found it great as a couple who was wanting to relax but the complex also has a great pool bar and disco for those who are wanting something a bit lively.
Checking in was smooth and easy, it was also a nice touch that we was greeted with a welcome drink and a designated member of staff who personally drove you to your room and carried your cases.
The room was spacious but bland, our balcony offered views of the main pool, the buffet and the beach so we couldn’t argue with that, the beds was comfortable and big, the only negative was the bathroom, it was a little dated and it was starting to show in a lot of areas.
The resort has a number of pools, we stayed around the pool with the swim up bar, we always found it very easy to get a sun bed, however there wasn’t a great deal of space in between each lounger. The pool is large and clean and is mostly warm which is always a bonus.
The beach for the first half of the holiday was beautiful, it stretches for miles and offers a wide range of water sports... however... during the second half of the week it was totally different, the amount of seaweed totally put us off from going on the beach, I’m not one to complain about seaweed but there was an awful lot, fair play to the staff they are relentless, they never stopped, they grafted all day to get rid of the seaweed and they did a very good job in doing that.
The food in my opinion was great, we didn’t have a single bad meal, there is plenty to choose from and I thought the quality of food was brilliant, we tried one restaurant (mamma Mia) the food was good however I found the room very bland and dull, not much natural light coming in any of the restaurants other than the buffet so we decided to stick to the buffet instead.
I have two negatives about this hotel, one of which was the very very pushy men who set stalls up with items for sale once a week around the grounds, they set them up in areas which you have to walk past them regardless of where your going, they are extremely pushy and a lot of people during our time here also agreed with this.
The other negative is that there was no bar with a TV, I think this resort would be brilliant if it offered some kind of sports bar, I personally think this hotel is crying out for something like this.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday in a very good resort. The staff food pool and beach are mainly great! I would recommend.
Caribe Club Princess over Tropical Princess
Those two hotels are jointed together and for me it was really hard to choose between both. In the end, they both have the same amenities, restaurants, pools, beach space. All the night shows are happenning on the Caribe Club side but it's a very short walk. Everything is literally jointed together.
If the difference in price is not significant then go with the Caribe Club. It has 5 a la carte restaurants, in addition to the buffet. In Tropical you only have 2 a la carte restaurants. But you can pay an extra of 11$ per person per restaurant.
We really enjoyed our stay in Caribe Club. Rooms are big. Bunch of activites. Great food. All the staff is really nice except at the buffet. At the buffet there is no service at all (very rude). First time I see that in an all inclusive hotel.
Be aware that the wifi is only available in the lobby and is kinda slow because so many people are using it. A TIP: you have to go on the left side of the lobby (where the travel agents desks are) to get a good wifi connection.
The beach is beautiful. Totally recommend this hotel, and I would even go back!
Having just spent 10 nights here with my boyfriend, I wish we had stayed somewhere else. When we checked in, the gentleman didnt seem completeltly with it and was very all over the place, he nearly forgot to give us the all inclusive wristbants until a new girl that HE was meant to be training, reminded him. Everyone else checking in also got given a welcome drink, we did not.
when we got to the room, the bellboy opened the door and gestured us to go in, until i stopped him and pointed out that the room was already full of someone elses things. not good. He then left a us standing in Block 2 for 15 minutes whilst he went and sorted out a new room for us.
We had booked a 'superior' room, and when we got into our new room it was not superior at all. firstly..the tv was already on, and then there as also a glass full of the strongest smelling alcohol ive ever smelt left in the bathroom. This made me think all sorts.
On inspection of the room, cupboard doors were almost hanging off and some drawers were locked shut. The furniture in the room was incredibly old and the whole room was in dire need of a makeover.
The main buffet restaurant was large and never over crowded. The food on the other hand was never hot and only ever lukewarm. For someone who is a vegetarian there is not a lot of choice except for rice, potatos, chips, pasta and the odd salad if you can find one without meat in. I mostly lived on fruit. The staff in the main buffet were hit and miss. some were friendly and attentive, others came across as rude. On more than one occasion we sat and waited for cutlery and drinks orders whilst 2 members of staff stood about 2 meters away and had a long chat between themselves. we ended up taking cutlery off a nearby table. we then noticed that thie cutlery was replaced in 5 minutes, so they noticed missing cutlery on a table but not customers sitting at a table not eating plates of food infront of them.
Soft drinks in the buffet were often flat, they use bottles of coke that are opened and closed a lot losing their fizz. Whenever anyone did use the pump machine they were always flat. some occasions we took coke from the minibar and had that with dinner instead.
note: if you do visit, take diarrhoea tablets and lots of them as we both had dodgy bellies from the food and spent a lot of time on the toilet during our holiday.
We visited the Mexican and the Italian al a carte restaurants. The Mexican was average but the Italian was a lot better and the service in the italian was also better. these need to be booked through concierge during set hours.
The pool areas were nice. We didnt spend any time by the main pool and swim up bar as it gets very busy so spent every day by pool 2 and 3 which were never crowded.
The creperie is a nice place serving ice cream, coffee, crepes etc and visited here a lot.
we didnt spend much time on the beach, only a few walks along it and it looked nice but got very busy. We did parasailing and it looked gorgeous from above :)
There is a little shuttle 'train' that goes around every few mins and stops at each apartment block and the main restaurant and then the lobby. This is good if you struggle to walk or if you just want to be lazy in the heat. we used it a lot as the walk in the heat can be tiring.
there is only wifi in the lobby. it is awful. it disconnects every few minutes and sometimes took ages to reconnect again. Sometimes we wouldnt even bother with it.
there is also a free shuttle to 2 shopping centres. we only visited one of them - palma real, as read poor reviews on the other one. palma real wasn't great but had a nice ice cream shop. worth visiting as its free and not a lot to do around the resort.
All in all, not the worst place I have visited but you will definitely find better. We took a walk through Bavaro princess, one of the sister resorts and it looked 100% nicer. I wouldn't return here unless they put money into it and gave the rooms and restaurants a complete makeover.

Me and my girlfriend have just spent 10 nights at Caribe Club Princess. We booked this hotel as we stayed at the Grand Riviera Princess in Mexico last year. We were aware that the standards in the Dominican would be lower than those in Mexico, but booking a hotel owned by the same company gave us peace of mind.
Wow…we were surprised to say the least.
Upon check-in we met a disinterested receptionist and were given a room that was still allocated to someone else. Imagine our surprise when the bellboy shows us to our room, opens the door and finds that it’s full of someone’s luggage and possessions. Not a great start.
After 10-15 minutes we were eventually given our own room and whilst we were due to have a superior room, we had one of the much older Caribe suites. The only good thing with this room is that it had a limited sea view. These rooms are incredibly tired, in a poor state of repair and generally looked like they were in serious need of on update years ago.
Certain drawers don’t open, cupboard doors are rickety and fragile, there’s rust everywhere, bathroom fixtures are close to falling off the wall.
The switches on my side of the bed for the light and fan didn’t work, nor did my bedside lamp. To my amazement I found out that this was because the wires were frayed and lazily stuck back with duct tape. Safe!
The bedsheets also need replacing, these were sometimes either stained or threadbare.
There were a couple of times where the water was turned off and the water was rarely hot enough to enjoy a shower, lukewarm at best.
Most of the staff here are disinterested, a lot of them are rude and you get the feeling that you’re a burden whenever you politely ask for a drink or whatever it is you need. Restaurant staff would sometimes not even turn up with your drinks you ordered or you would have no cutlery whilst staff stand and chat with each other. I especially don’t appreciate being told to score the restaurant service as excellent by waiting staff when I was given a survey on the hotel at dinner.
Soft drinks are nearly always flat, in fact I think the only fizzy soft drinks I had were from the minibar which is stocked daily.
There is an extensive range of buffet food, although we both fell ill from eating various bits. The pasta station is particularly good, although expect to queue in line for 15-20 minutes. There are a la carte restaurants too, we tried the Mexican and found the food okay, and also tried the Italian and were really impressed with the service here.
You have to book these restaurants via a concierge, although you have to queue for a while and they are only there at certain hours. Suggestion: Have a computer with a reservation system that allows guests to do it themselves 24/7, whenever its convenient?
WiFi is available in reception, although it’s slow and intermittent.
On the bright side, the pool areas were nice, fairly clean and there were plenty of umbrellas with tables if you enjoy the shade. One of the pools has a swim up bar and this has more activities and gets quite lively, and there’s not an awful lot of space with the amount of sun beds. The other 2 pools are a lot more spacious though.
I can’t really comment on the beach as we didn’t spend any real time sitting by the beach throughout our stay. It’s really clean though and the grounds team spend a lot of the time tidying and taking care of falling palm leaves, etc. both on the beach and throughout the resort. If you’re a fan of the beach I don’t think you would be disappointed.
I can’t comment on the entertainment either as we didn’t see any of the shows.
The resort itself is a decent size, it’s not enormous but at the same time you don’t feel crammed in. There’s a buggy shuttle that runs every few minutes from reception to the different accommodation buildings and main restaurant if you don’t fancy the walk.
Upon check out we also encountered another “friendly” member of staff who didn’t at all seem bothered about our stay and how we found the hotel, he didn’t even ask us how our stay was.
To sum up, I wouldn’t come back and I honestly can’t see how people visit this place more than once, I was so disappointed and shocked with the quality and service here compared to the other hotels in the Princess group.
