We've visited a Barcelo in Costa Rica 4 times.

3 times in Playa Langosta, 1 in Tambor. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the beach is great, and the food is very good. The staff are very capable and friendly. The Barcelo definitely has a Costa Rican flavor that we really enjoy.

At arrival we were assign a room that had mold on the ceiling, the Swiss Travel Rep was nice enought to help us get another room. no mold, but not very clean. You also had to keep one of the 2 room cards you were given to keep light and ac attached to the monitor at all times. The food was the same every night, rice and beans and chorizos, pork, chicken or bad steak. The Wi fii that we paid for was turn off the 2nd day, and can only be used at one device at a time. We would ask for towels for the room, they never had clean towels available. The only good thing at this resort was the alcohol and fresh fruit at the bar.

We really loved it. With friendly staff, excellent food, very very clean, awesome mountain views, the beach was a stone throw from the hotel pool. We could sit at tables in the pool bar and look out at the ocean. Really lovely sunsets and postcard perfect views.

We really enjoyed our week at the Barcelo. We would return and recommend it to others. I believe the resort carries a 4 Star rating and that is probably accurate; however, we were completely satisfied with the amenities and food. We were not notified about our departure details as promised. We called on our own and obtained the information.

This is my 2nd time staying at the Barcelo. This is a good affordable all-inclusive hotel. The buffet gets old after awhile but most buffets are average. We like this resort as it is close to town. Most of the other all inclusive resorts are far away.

Not a four Star hotel

I would say it's about three stars. The staff was very friendly. Staff very personable and make you feel at home. The rooms seem worn. Sometimes when staff would come in they would replace all items or not. We had to ask for wash clothes numerous times. Staff would always restock the water bottles. Which was nice. They were also very nice. Our linens were never cleaned or changed. The bed was somewhat comfortable but the air conditioner blows right above you freeze all night. We tried to lower the temperature and in doing so completely turned it off so then it was hot and humid. But the next day staff came in and helped us put it back on. But it was freezing again and we were scared to touch the temperature. Also I requested two full size bed in my reservation. When we got into the room it was a king size bed. I didn't make a big deal about it because we were there celebrating my daughter's graduation and we could sleep in the bed together. Food and entertainment was the same all day everyday. Shopping is expensive. Fun town. They say all inclusive wifi but it's only for one device for each room. The pool always had leaves and bugs in it. We would go back to Costa Rica but probably stay somewhere else just got a change of scenery.

Great Service, great people. Great experience.

This is the second time i have the pleasure to visit this hotel. so right to the facts. They have been remodeling some of the suites. This time ours was on the first floor, and there a few things that i found new, the coffee maker was new, the shower was also better than the last time, and the TV was upgraded. The mini bar was replaced everyday with an assortment of soda and beer. The food at the restaurant was better than last time, they have definitely upgraded that area. The daily choices were good and tasty. The coffee served at the snack and dining areas is FANTASTIC. Also i would recommend the pizza from the snack area, it is surprisingly delicious. The papaya and pineapple were the best I have had in a long time. The swim pool was clean and they clean that twice a day i believe (maybe more). We spend several hours in the pool are and you can see the big Iguanas eating and taking sun baths around 2 pmish. The gardens are well kept and beautiful. I didn't see mosquitoes in there, but there are many by the estero or beach so use some repellent there and problem solve. The estero next to playa langosta is beautiful we also spend long hours just laying out there it was perfect. The Hotel gets a bit crowed on the weekend, just in case you want to avoid lines ..etc. However the best of this hotel is its people, it was great to get there and see Claudio at the Lobby, Adina and Zulina (i think her name spells differently) at the restaurant area made us feel like home. They do a great job making us feeling great. The lady at the towel area and the lifeguard they were super nice to us. The dancers at the show are really good. Overall we had a great time. I hope we can get back soon.

Very nice place, great wildlife, but....

Overall the place was very nice but some things could have been better. We had to lug our luggage up 3 flights of stairs without staff assistance even being offered and no elevators. Kenny at the front desk said made a big deal about lining up a birthday cake for a certain time and night for my friend, but that didn't happen. Why even both if no follow through? He also was not very informative about the hotel or what is provided when asked. Our room was nice and had a loft with deadly steep stairs. But we saw monkeys from the porch! super cool. Food was so so. But what you expect from all inclusive buffet. Liquor was watered down of course, so always ask for a double. Staff was very friendly and we booked a great trip to Palo Verde from the resort.

Very nice...but....

The attention fabulous, Adina in the restaurant and snack bar a delight, Jeffry and Kenny both in the lobby were extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were quite comfortable, very nice gardens and pool. The beach, well kinda rugged for swimming and the south wind brought red flags to the beach area. The food...mediocre at best, the a la carte restaurant is precooked food not fresh and the buffett rather dull...for the price the stay was enjoyable and well worth the cost.
