We decided to escape to Punta Cana this year and Riu Palace Macao was our destination! From Dari at check in to FrNces from apple we were off to a good start. Maid service was exceptional however hotel maintenance was poor; our phone was broken the entire week, we were told the man that repairs that was on holiday. Air conditioning in the rooms was hit or miss with our last night a total miss when the room hit 88 degrees. Again we were told nonchalantly that the entire building was without ac and they hoped to have it repaired that day(as we checked out). So a few bumps in the road but back to general service like Francisco who took his personal time to help us obtain a bulb syringe from town and Juan who kept my glass full (most often with ice water). The area is beautiful as is the resort! Food was mediocre as were drinks but cerveza was nice and cold! We would go back, probably earlier in the year when not as hot! Great time!!

10 year anniversary We had the absolute best vacation ever!! Our anniversary trip could not have been better. The room, staff, beach, pool and the animation team was simply the best! SuperMambo was our favorite of the animation team but we loved Aleesa too! We really loved the whole team because they were amazing. SuperMambo definitely brought the party every time he entered the room! He taught us how to salsa and made us crack up the whole time. We adored SuperMambo!! He made our trip so fun!! I have nothing negative to say at all! The resort was gorgeous and relaxing. I read so many mixed reviews when I was researching resorts and I have to say the negative ones are just RIDICULOUS!! I mean I don't think this vacation could have gone better! We enjoyed every second. The food was great and there was a huge variety. I tried grouper for the first time and that's my favorite fish now. We are planning our next vacation back to the Macao as soon as possible. Even though there are many resorts in Punta Cana I can't see a need to try any other when we obviously found the best! When you go look up SuperMambo for a good time!

The hotel and staff is just what we expected with Riu. We have stayed in Riu Hotels in several countries and it has always been a pleasant experience. The resort was well maintained and overall the staff was courteous and attentive (there is always one or two that don't make you fell like you are at home). The entertainment staff did an excellent job, along with the bar and service staff. The maid service did a fabulous job with taking care of our room and the resort. The food was excellent, a lot of variety and different selections each day. The dessert bar was out of this world. Our only dull spot of the trip was with the front desk on check in day (our room was not ready at 3 pm) and the staff did not seem as though they knew how to handle it. Once the Front Desk Supervisor was called over he was able to straighten it out. The worst part of the trip was SPIRIT AIRLINES, they nickle and dime you for everything, it cost my family an additional $305 just to get our luggage and seat assignments. I would never fly Spirit again and Apple Vacations should not even include them in their packages.

upon check in we were told our room wouldn't be ready until the next day, at this point we were offered a upgraded suite for 1 night. the lady at the desk said it was free for 1 night and if we wanted to stay in this room it would be 80 dollars more a night. the next day at around 9 am we checked and were told to check back later, at 12 noon was told the room wouldn't be ready until after 2 pm, I complained about having to unpack and repack and missing time at the beach but was told there was nothing that could be done at that time I asked for the manager and got the same run around, after about 10 mins of complaining and threating to write bad reviews the manager pulled a room key from somebody else's envelope and told me to go pack our bags and call the desk and they would send a porter up to move us. before we could even finish without us calling he was at the door. my recommendation to any body wanting to stay at riu macao is to not accept any temp upgrades unless you want to spend some of your vacation moving from room to room.

From the moment we arrived, you feel like royalty. The service staff was amazing, always serving with a smile. The staff works endlessly to make everyones experience one to remember. The ocean was absolutely amazing, you won't be able to take your eyes off of the vibrant blues and the ocean breezes are perfect! My husband and I would wake up each morning, eat a big hearty breakfast, suit up and go from beach to pool all throughout the day. We never had trouble finding two chairs and a beautiful view. In our suits we would have lunch at the Krystal Fusion overlooking the ocean. I would highly recommend this restaurant. After lunch we spent more time relaxing by the pool and the ocean. The pool and beach side drinks were A+ In the evenings we would dress up and enjoy a meal at one of the specialty restaurants. We tried all them going back to our favorite- the steak house several times. It was a perfect getaway!

Here’s how our experience went: The four of us received 20$ to place a bet on this Roulette type table with the possibility of instantly winning 640$ if we hit 100 points. The first roll of balls into the Roulette wheel vested us about 40 points. The game is progressive so you can keep you points and continue. We placed another 20$ bet and got another 40 points! We duplicated this bet and got 10 more points! So now the four of us are now out $20 each and we have 90 of 100 points to win $640….. We continued to bet and the pot doubled then tripled and we now had 95 points….. The Bet at this point is 320$ and the pot is now at 12,800$ with just 5 points to go. They pit boss told us how awesome our odds are to go home for the night and we could continue this exact game tomorrow night as they would write the state of the table down and we could continue! We were somewhat skeptical as none of us are gamblers so we went to my room and looked this up on Google but we could find nothing that would lead us to believe that anything shady was going on…. The next night we continued and they offered to just let us my credit card because we were ‘SURE’ to win and they would just take the bets out of the jackpot….. After about 30 minutes we were at a Jackpot of 51,200$ with a bet of 1280$ and they wanted to run my card for my current tab of $4800. They DON’T tell you that this is a cash advance…so your card is doomed to fail immediately! Amongst the 4 of us we were able to come up with the $4800 by all of using our reserve cash and whatever we could put on our cards as cash advance. We had another couple coming down in two days and after begging and pleading with the Casino Owner for several hours of threats they agreed to wait until my other friends could bring us some more cash to satisfy the remining $850 we still owed. This scam is plundered in several ways…..first of all we had no intentions of even going in the Casino until someone from the RIU invited us in and literally LED US BY THE HAND…… Second any attempt to Google this Casino is BLOCKED by their ‘FREE INTERNET’ Third this whole ‘Credit Card’ then try cashing advance is also scandalous….. Glad we came back even though Irma tried to spoil it :)

Arrived at reception and after 2 minutes we were on our way to our room with David bringing our bags shortly afterwards, and after a quick shower we were in paradise again. The team here really do try to make you feel special our room had been decorated for us and it was beautiful. Our two weeks were great even if Irma did try to spoil it but there was little or no disruption from the hurricane apart from shutting the bar at 21:30 the night before lol so no real hassle. There are some renovations going on next door at the Naibo hotel so the guests there are allowed to come to the Macao for drinks only BUT as ever there are those who have spoilt the atmosphere by abusing the privilege by trying to use ALL the facilities at the Macao while only paying for the three star prices of their hotel which has caused some upset with the regular Macao guests. They have even turned up in the evening to the entertainment at the inside theatre, again causing upset to those of us who paid more for the Palace facilities. Although having said that we will still come back because we love the staff and we love the hotel as we love the location. I would not let the behaviors of the few spoil my holiday. I believe this is going to be a short term disruption and as soon as the renovations next door are complete the Palace will have its exclusivity returned. To Teo, Smarlin, Raul, Fredrick Bermudez, Karen, Angel and all the bar staff thanks for driving while we were there To Victor, Tony, Maria and all the staff in the restaurants thank you for looking after our every need while we ate ourselves silly. Special thanks to the chefs who provided such fantastic food. To David and all the front of house staff you do a wonderful job in keeping us happy To the chambermaids and the barmen who fill up the mini bar, what a team, you are amazing and 3109 will always be remembered by us by the way you took care of us.

Loved our stay, the time was between two hurricanes... thankfully Hurricane Irma did not cause any damage ... now Hurricane Maria is scheduled to be here in a couple of days... registration was fast and without any problems or delays. the service and staff are top notch! So friendly and always ready to make our vacation a special and memorable one. The best! The food was excellent... we recommend the Japanese and Fusion (Krystal) , those were our fav! The Buffet at all times with a great and delicious variety of food types! Rooms clean and comfy. I love how everything is close by and accessible... We have found the place that we can always come back to! Thank you to all the members of Riu Palace Macao 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

This was the best holiday me and my boyfriend have ever been on! We are reviewing this a bit late but we loved it so much we had to write something about it. Staff are amazing rooms modern and clean pool area spotless lovely big walk in shower, mini fridge in room and you can drink everything inside of it! Vodka and whiskey on the wall for you to use as much as you want! All inclusive food was lovely never got bored! We tried the speciality restaurants too which were lovely. Can't be bothered going down for dinner? No problem, free 24 HOUR!! Room service whenever you like. We always had a stash of bottles of bubbly in our fridge. Whenever the drinks man would come around to restock fridge he would always give us a bottle! Pools were lovely not too cold we really liked chilling by the swim up bar and on the beach. Beach was the best I've ever seen. Would we go back? Definitely, but prices have gone up since we went!!!

We have just returned from a great holiday at the Riu Palace Macao, the hotel was excellent from the cleaner to the management team. The manager was rather young looking and in fact he was only in his mid 20's but he really did a fabulous job in the run up to the hurricane Irma's arrival ensuring that the hotel, the guests and his staff were fully briefed and kept safe during what turned out to be a serious storm. Lets now look at the rest of the holiday, the hotel was really great with plenty of choice in the restaurants the food was varied and excellently cooked and presented by first class chefs, the bars offered a varied selection of both local and international drinks with a good selection of cocktails. The cleaners were extremely efficient keeping the entire resort in a1 condition. The flight out was fairly good except the food which was not up to scratch as the only hot meal was chicken and mushroom piewhich on an aeroplane is probably my worst nightmare, never chicken on a flight too many bad experiences of sickness, so only managed a bread roll and 2 cheese crackers with cheese. The return food was just as bad but also included soft chees so I didn't even have that with the dry crackers. My private taxi transferfrom the hotel turned out to be a shared taxi ride but at least they turned up.

Excellent holiday despite the hurricane!

Room The room was a good size and the bed and shower were huge! There is a minibar and a liquor dispenser which are all included in the price and are restocked every other day. The towels are replaced everyday. There is a safe available to use where we kept our valuables most of the time. Our room (3002) was very quiet most of the time and the wifi was excellent. The door to the balcony was a bit dodgy and the floor could have been cleaned more often but these things didn't cause any problems. Food There is a main buffet restaurant and four speciality restaurants; Japanese, Italian, Steak and Fusion. We enjoyed all the restaurants apart from the Japanese one which wasn't to our taste. There is a lot of choice in the buffet and the food is high quality, we always found something to enjoy. You can also have any drink of your choice and the staff are very attentive. Pool and beach The pool is a lovely size and has sun beds in it which are excellent for cooling down from the hot sun! There are many sun loungers and it was never a problem finding one in a convenient place. The beach is directly in front of the hotel and also has many sun loungers. There is quite a lot of seaweed but this was cleared away everyday. There is also a small restaurant at the beach where you can have lunch and get drinks without going back to the hotel bars. Other information It is possible to visit both the Rui Bambu and Riu Naiboa as part of the all inclusive package between 10-5 everyday. You can have lunch and drinks and use their pools. There is a sports bar in Bambu which we enjoyed. You can also use the spa at Riu Bavaro which was good quality. There is a water park at Rui Naiboa which is quite small but a lot of fun and only a short walk away. There is a lot of entertainment available but we didn't participate. The hotel is like most others in Punta Cana and isn't close to much apart from some shops along the side. I would definitely recommend the hotel but if you want to do anything else apart from sunbathing and relaxing you will have to be prepared to spend a lot as the excursions are very expensive and it is difficult to do anything independently.
