Viva Wyndham Maya
Accomodations and staff were excellent with beautiful beaches and pools. The drinks were excellent as were the hamburgers, pizza and breakfast. The speciality restaurants were excellent. The main cafeteria type dinning room was without air-conditioning there were overhead fans but it was hot and the food was fair.
The best part of the hotel was the beach. Employees were not very friendly especially when they tried to pitch you the sale of a timeshare with the pretense of explaining the hotel amenities. The food was fair. I have had better food and cocktails at other all inclusive properties. There was no swim up bar or staff bringing drinks out to you at the pool or beach. You had to go make a line to get your own alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. 8'm quite surprised at the lack luster service. I will say that the hotel was clean and the rooms were cleaned at least 2x per day. They even disinfect mattresses which was a big plus. The beach area was perfect.
We had a great experience at Viva Wyndham Maya. Very clean maintenance, friendly staff, amazing food and drink selection, and entertaining evenings.
Viva Wyndham Maya
Hotel staff was excellent and always helpful.
The only complaint I have is the rooms on the site are not the rooms you get.
You have to belong to the Hotel's "club" to get the nicer rooms with extras, like coffee pot. Micro wave and mini bar.
The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Always something going on to keep you entertained .
We will return!
This resort is just okay
This resort did not give me a vacation feel. First off, we were limited to 2 complimentary reservations for the restaurants on the resorts. After the 2 complimentary reservations had been used, we had to go back to guest services between 2pm-3pm to see if there were other openings for restaurants on a daily basis. This was such a hassle and felt like such an inconvenience. Secondly, our toilet in our bathroom stop flushing and maintenance did not come to fix this issue until after making a request twice. Thirdly, the housekeeping failed to leave us face towels the entire time we were there(which was 5 days). Not to mention that 2 of those nights we were not provided with the large towels either. Therefore we had to ask housekeeping while cleaning other tenant's rooms if we could get towels, which was also irritating. The room felt moist and not very comfortable and soothing. This resort did not give me the full vacation experience as I intended to say the least.
We love Viva Wyndham Maya!!!
This was our 2nd trip to Viva Wyndham Maya. The Service and staff are excellent and the beach, pool, and facilities are extrememly clean and well taken care of. We will gladly visit here again.
This is a very nice (all inclusive) resort. The room was nice although a little noisy. The hotel services were very adequate. I was surprised that there were no wash cloths. Had to use a hand towel for that purpose. The food was generally good. Enough selection to please most tastes. The Ala Carte restruants were very good.
Dirty...Worst FOOD ever...people SMOKING everwhere
This is the worst resort I have EVER stayed at. From the moment we checked in it was awful. The front desk staff was rude. We were put in a downgraded room from what we paid for (and not reimbursed) because we wanted a king size bed (which we requested ahead of time and I doubled check we were going to have prior to our arrival). No elevators and people smoke everywhere. The rooms are VERY small, dated, linens are rough, pillows are small, and beds are old, squeaky and disgusting. Some bathrooms are updated which was my saving grace. But, limited towels with no shampoo or conditioner. Bring your own. Expect to be haggled for everything. Nothing is really "free". They are always trying to upsell you and depending on who you talk to, you will get a different price for everything. I think most employees are getting some kind of kick-back...even the taxi drivers. This is hands down the worst food I have ever encountered at a hotel and I travel A LOT. It's virtually impossible to get a reservation at one of the "nicer restaurants" which they only seat at 50% but don't worry, its not worth the wait. It's the same food just plated differently. Oh and the wine tastes like vinegar and the meat look like SPAM. Several in our group got sick. I stayed away from all dairy, fruits and vegetables (anything washed with water) and was ok but I STARVED. The nicest people are the bartenders and employees who work around the pool. Drinks are OK...very watered down. Expect long lines for a drink. We booked through Apple Vacations and they rated this 4 apples...It's barely a 2 star resort. On a positive note, the beaches are beautiful and guests (if you don't mind a fairly foreign crowd) were friendly. Wyndham should be ashamed to have this resort in their portfolio. After this, I will probably not ever stay at another Wyndham resort. Very disappointed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS HOTEL.
We loved the resort and staff, had a great vacation there!
It could be better
Buffet is decent, but restaurants on site is excellent for food quality and service is excellent. Only 2 bars, no cocktail servers at lobby bar, only 1 beach cocktail server, no poolside servers. Hotel staff is courteous, maid service is excellent, massage service is excellent. Service in buffet breakfast is excellent.

Fun and enjoyable experience for the whole family; worth it for the price
What I noticed about many one star reviews of this resort is that people are extremely specific, picky, and want everything handed to them. I would not specifically call Viva Wyndham Maya a paradise or a luxury resort but instead an enjoyable experience for everyone in the family; especially with younger children. This resort allows for a pretty good experience for the price you pay i.e. the food is pretty well prepared with a wide variety of choices, the entertainment staff is absolutely wonderful with any age group, the rooms are what you would expect any mid-class resort to be, and the beach was gorgeous (went in late July so no seaweed). I think the pictures on this site do a very good job of detailing the resort. I decided on four stars instead of five due to the fact that this is not a resort you come to if you want to be catered and have your *** wiped like most of the people reviewing. That being said, the staff does a great job of attending to your needs (some people just "need" too much) and they work hard to try and satisfy you and the only thing this resort lacks is the quiet and relaxed atmosphere of most adults-only resorts. This is a place to come have fun with your family, meet a bunch of people from all over the world, and let your kids enjoy their summer.
DO NOT STAY HERE
Lets just say we checked in and out. I am not a picky person trust me I have stayed at other viva wyndham and loved it while others didn’t.. I am not high maintence however cleanliness is a must for me. We walked in and our room and immedidalty my sinuses started to act up, I couldn’t breathe ok, generally if this happens to me its due to me being near mold or mildew. So I happen to check the bed and there was mold growing on the mattress. I called the front desk to please move us, she didn’t believe us and came to the room to see, not only did she see mold she then saw the whole beds marked of yellow and took pictures of it for her staff. She said she understood and would want to move if it was her too. Needless to say they moved us to a 2nd rom and that one also had mold on the mattress; I was like this can’t be happening. She said she only had one room left but they just got done painting in it, we tried to go in there but even she couldn’t stand the smell. We go back to the front desk, SHE SAID HOPEFULLY MY MANAGER WILL MOVE U TO OUR SISTER PROPERTY BECAUSE WE HAVE NO OTHER ROOMS LEFT, SHE COMES BACK THE MANGER TOLD US IF WE DONT LIKE IT TO LEAVE! I WAS LIKE HUH.. IS THIS FOR REAL.. S0O NOW I HAVE BEEN IN THIS LOBBY FOR 4 HOURS WASTED WITH MY 11YR OLD WE HAVEN'T EATEN SINCE BREAKFAST AND IT IS NOW 8PM . I JUST BROKE DOWN IN TEARS. WAY TO HAVE A VACATION. I called expedia and they were willing to offer refund because we then booked to stay somewhere else where I can breathe and not have to sleep on moldy beds. But the supervisor said “I can loose my job if I say anything” so when expedia called to talk to her she denied everything about the room with mold. Thank god I took a few oictures otherwise it would just be my word against theirs. Sucks that we didn’t get to enjoy the property but at the same time even though u ended up paying more at allegro a few propertys away, the hotel was much better, atleast for the room I can say. The service at viva here I can imagine wouldn’t have been good just from the front desk and management it was already crapp and made us loose a day of our vacation.. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR U CANT FIND ANOTHER RESORT AT THIS PRICE JUST SHOP AROUND, AND EVEN IF U CANT FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE UNLESS UR OKAY WITH MOLDY BEDS
Front desk bad attitude
I visited the hotel as a day pass, I am mexican and living currently at Playa del Carmen, we made a reservation, and upon our arrival at 10am, Arely from front desk with the worst attitude she just said she did not have any reservation, and we shall wait for her supervisor, whom would be arriving at 11am, after calling whoever, she agreed to charge us, we wanted to pay in USD, and she did not explain why it was not possible to do so, just denied and gave option to pay with credit card or mexican pesos. She gave us a different fee of the one in their price list at their front desk, and as we asked why the difference, she called whoever again and quoted «is just that they are mexicans ». It is just unacceptable to be discrimined by your own people. We did not want to keep dealing with her so just paid what she said and left for breakfast. Breakfast is ok, our coffee server was so nice that he made us forget our awful check in experience.
We spent the day at the beach and at the pool, all the bartenders are super nice, we had lunch before leaving, and I must say the food was not great, we tried some sushi, which tasted as if was from older days and the lasagna was overcooked so it tasted horrible. Eitherway there are plenty options like nachos, burgers, hot dogs etc and they are fine. We had a nice day after all
I am disappointed with this resort to say the least. I have traveled a lot of all- inclusive resorts and this one is not one I will return to.The rooms are not bad, they are clean but you get one bottle of water in your room for the week. This resort is a green resort encouraging everyone not to use straws and to use water from the bar areas. (our fridge was empty all week no pop or water). They will not let you refill your water bottle, you have to fill a glass then put it in your bottle. You are not allowed to drink in the pool which is something I have never seen before. It is a quite place so not much goes on in the evening. On a positive note, the a la cart restaurants are very good , the beach is beautiful and staff are friendly. It is close to town which I loved. There are nicer places for the same price so, I will not return to this one.
Coming back again !
We were very happy with our stay at your beautiful resort ! We attended a family wedding and were impressed with the ceremony and your staff ! The staff worked very hard to ensure the guests have a pleasant stay. Beach staff, servers, housekeeping , bartenders and management are all to be commended. We will definitley be back next year. Thank you all !
