Viva Wyndham Maya
Accomodations and staff were excellent with beautiful beaches and pools. The drinks were excellent as were the hamburgers, pizza and breakfast. The speciality restaurants were excellent. The main cafeteria type dinning room was without air-conditioning there were overhead fans but it was hot and the food was fair.
The best part of the hotel was the beach. Employees were not very friendly especially when they tried to pitch you the sale of a timeshare with the pretense of explaining the hotel amenities. The food was fair. I have had better food and cocktails at other all inclusive properties. There was no swim up bar or staff bringing drinks out to you at the pool or beach. You had to go make a line to get your own alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. 8'm quite surprised at the lack luster service. I will say that the hotel was clean and the rooms were cleaned at least 2x per day. They even disinfect mattresses which was a big plus. The beach area was perfect.
We had a great experience at Viva Wyndham Maya. Very clean maintenance, friendly staff, amazing food and drink selection, and entertaining evenings.

Hotel staff was excellent and always helpful.
The only complaint I have is the rooms on the site are not the rooms you get.
You have to belong to the Hotel's "club" to get the nicer rooms with extras, like coffee pot. Micro wave and mini bar.
The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Always something going on to keep you entertained .

This resort is just okay
This resort did not give me a vacation feel. First off, we were limited to 2 complimentary reservations for the restaurants on the resorts. After the 2 complimentary reservations had been used, we had to go back to guest services between 2pm-3pm to see if there were other openings for restaurants on a daily basis. This was such a hassle and felt like such an inconvenience. Secondly, our toilet in our bathroom stop flushing and maintenance did not come to fix this issue until after making a request twice. Thirdly, the housekeeping failed to leave us face towels the entire time we were there(which was 5 days). Not to mention that 2 of those nights we were not provided with the large towels either. Therefore we had to ask housekeeping while cleaning other tenant's rooms if we could get towels, which was also irritating. The room felt moist and not very comfortable and soothing. This resort did not give me the full vacation experience as I intended to say the least.

This was our 2nd trip to Viva Wyndham Maya. The Service and staff are excellent and the beach, pool, and facilities are extrememly clean and well taken care of. We will gladly visit here again.
This is a very nice (all inclusive) resort. The room was nice although a little noisy. The hotel services were very adequate. I was surprised that there were no wash cloths. Had to use a hand towel for that purpose. The food was generally good. Enough selection to please most tastes. The Ala Carte restruants were very good.
Dirty...Worst FOOD ever...people SMOKING everwhere
This is the worst resort I have EVER stayed at. From the moment we checked in it was awful. The front desk staff was rude. We were put in a downgraded room from what we paid for (and not reimbursed) because we wanted a king size bed (which we requested ahead of time and I doubled check we were going to have prior to our arrival). No elevators and people smoke everywhere. The rooms are VERY small, dated, linens are rough, pillows are small, and beds are old, squeaky and disgusting. Some bathrooms are updated which was my saving grace. But, limited towels with no shampoo or conditioner. Bring your own. Expect to be haggled for everything. Nothing is really "free". They are always trying to upsell you and depending on who you talk to, you will get a different price for everything. I think most employees are getting some kind of kick-back...even the taxi drivers. This is hands down the worst food I have ever encountered at a hotel and I travel A LOT. It's virtually impossible to get a reservation at one of the "nicer restaurants" which they only seat at 50% but don't worry, its not worth the wait. It's the same food just plated differently. Oh and the wine tastes like vinegar and the meat look like SPAM. Several in our group got sick. I stayed away from all dairy, fruits and vegetables (anything washed with water) and was ok but I STARVED. The nicest people are the bartenders and employees who work around the pool. Drinks are OK...very watered down. Expect long lines for a drink. We booked through Apple Vacations and they rated this 4 apples...It's barely a 2 star resort. On a positive note, the beaches are beautiful and guests (if you don't mind a fairly foreign crowd) were friendly. Wyndham should be ashamed to have this resort in their portfolio. After this, I will probably not ever stay at another Wyndham resort. Very disappointed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS HOTEL.

It could be better
Buffet is decent, but restaurants on site is excellent for food quality and service is excellent. Only 2 bars, no cocktail servers at lobby bar, only 1 beach cocktail server, no poolside servers. Hotel staff is courteous, maid service is excellent, massage service is excellent. Service in buffet breakfast is excellent.

Pleasant stay in this resort
We had a wonderful mini vacation at this resort. Great services, friendly people, amazing team!! Kudos to the entertainment team, every single one of them are putting 100% effort to make lives better! To Kuko and the trapeze team you guys rock, although my little one and I didn’t do well, but hey we had so much fun because of your help and hard work!!! Oh and the SHOW....just so fun to attend all the shows, great work, love you guys!!! To Tony, gracias por la lección de español todos los días!!

Relaxing holiday at Viva Maya
We spent 2 wonderful weeks at the Viva Wyndam Maya from Dec 30- Jan 13. Great food, tremendous staff, fabulous beach! We were able to visit all 4 A La Carte restaurants, all were very good. The buffet at La Tarreza was amazing. We enjoyed the energy and professionalism of the dancers in the evening shows.
Check in took a little bit of time, I noticed that it was more efficient at other times. The only negative I had was poor wifi reception, but hey, we were on holidays!
This was our 2nd visit the Viva Maya, the 1st in 2003. We highly Reccomended it.
Little Cool but Made best of it
This hotel was really great for travelling with children. It was a little cool due to winter time there but our kids still played at the beach and in the pool. The service was really good especially in the buffett restaurant. They could use a little more variety for the food on the buffett.
Week of Relaxation
Wonderful people, so accommodating and excellent food. We say hello to Deter the drink master! We snorkeled in underground cenotes, and swam with whale sharks. The beauty of Tulum is unique and the story of Tulum is mindblowing. If you've not visited Playa del Carmen, you're missing out on a truly beautiful holiday.
Excellent hotel but does not recognize repeat clients
We stayed at this hotel from 27 Sep to 11 Oct 2017. This was our fifth consecutive stay at this hotel. We asked if it was possible to have a room in the 3000 building, where we usually have our room, and we were told that we would be charged an extra $40 US for every night. I asked why it was not like that in our previous stays and I was told that this is how it was now. A week later, friends of ours arrived at the hotel (this was their second trip to the hotel in 3 years). They did not like their room and asked to change room. They were offered a room in the 3000 building at no extra cost. That really made us feel like choped liver. We will return to that hotel, but we will not expect to be appreciated for our returning business as it does not appear to have any value for this hotel. A la carte restaurants are excellent, staff is great, registration staff and policies are not designed to make you feel welcomed.
