We vacation with another couple and have high standards for our final choice of vacation spots. We were so thrilled with the laid back, quiet, simplicity of Sunset at the Palms. Because there weren't 500 people staying at this resort we received excellent personalized service. The staff was went out of their way to accommodate our needs, but did not hover, allowing us our privacy. The facility is small and gave us the feeling of being in the rain forest with our individual cabins. Highlights include Paul, "the piano man" in the martini bar sharing his talents. Alvin, a personable hard-working young man we enjoyed talking with everyday. Finally, the beautiful white sanded beach and turquoise water with not a wave in sight. This resort isn't for the "party all nighters, but for the adults looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation.

It was decent but I would not stay here again. My girlfriend was eaten up by bedbugs and had to go to the Dr to diagnose and get something for the itching. The choices of food were not the greatest and was not available all day. Been to much better places. Was disappointed.

Not Impressed with Apple Vacations.
Jan 15 2017
Apple website was misleading, hotel is not on the beach and the beach that it has access to is not "7 mile beach". Bathroom had NO bathroom door, had to change rooms. Room had view of a concrete slab construction site. AC in the room did not work properly, room fridge was not restocked by staff. The restaurants were rarely available for us to use, and we had to eat at the buffet (which was average). Food at the beach bar was disgusting. Had problems with the water sports office, charged us for a sailboat lesson that we didn't take and wouldn't refund the charge.

We really did enjoy the facilities. Thought there could have been a few more bells and whistles for the 5 golden apples. However the Apple staff at the airport was extremenely unorganized and uniformed. They really had no idea what was going on.

Me and my wife's vacation to Sunset at the Palms for our birthdays was our second trip there. It was everything we expected, exceptional vacation. The staff was so friendly, the food was dliscious, and the beach was clean. The only complaint we have, which we should have expected do to the dense garden surrounding the rooms, were the amount of lizards and bugs in our room each day/night. This often caused us to lose much sleep hearing them scattering around and often waking to get a few bugs out of the room. Also, we will try not to fly Delta again, the trip home was on time, but on the way down the pilots were 45 minutes late on our first flight causing us to miss our connection out of Atlanta by fifteen minutes and forcing us to wait an additional 5 1/2 hours to catch the next connecting flight. Overall it was a great trip, this being our second time to SATP.

A Wonderfully Unique Hotel

We have traveled to many countries and hotels around the world but, never have experienced anything like Sunset at the Palms. The bungalows are nestled in the gardens of the property, making it feel like you are staying in the jungle. You are always surrounded by trees, palms, flowers, and tranquility. Falliing asleep and waking up to nature was truly amazing. The rooms are clean, fashionably updated, making you feel like you are staying in luxury. The property is always well manicured and the hotel itself is well taken care of. I highly recommend Sunset at the Palms.

The resort was beautiful. The only issue we had was on the beach the close contact with the locals who were constantly allowed to hound you to buy products. It gets frustrating quickly.

Things to know about Sunset at the Palms
Mar 13 2012
The property is gorgeous--lush plants that really make you feel you're in a tropical paradise. The rooms do not have glass windows, rather, screens w/ wooden slats. That means you hear loud tropical birds, traffic and other noises during the night (and others can hear you). Although the hotel info mentions movies at night, they no longer do that. The food is good and plentiful. Fun having a grill at the beach so you can spend all day relaxing there if you choose. And the nicer restaurant that's only open 4 nights a week is wonderful. We did a couple's massage, and only one massage therapist was good. The other was so bad the hotel ended up not charging for that half of the price (though it would've been nice to have the whole thing free). If you're looking for a VERY laid-back experience, this is a great property.

Wonderful time at SATP

From check in to check out they treat you as family. We were greeted by our concierge Kadian and quickly checked in. Our room was in the 400 block near the back of the resort. Beautiful room with comfortable bed, well appointed balcony with daybed and nice bathroom with large shower. Restaurant options were a buffet and two al a carte. Food was very tasty. Two bars at resort proper and one at the beach across the road. Beach is on Bloody Bay and it is beautiful! Once in the water it has some of the softest sand I have ever felt. There are numerous trees and palapa to provide shade. There is also a grill area behind the bar. Staff are outstanding! Our main standouts were David, “Captain” Kirk, Craig, Estoy, Kerry, Nepaul and lastly “Troublemaker” Sharon. Give yourself a treat and stay at this resort!

Great resort. This was my second trip to Sunset. It’s everything I want in a low-keyed, relaxing vacation. We were upgraded to a two story suite. King size bed and full bath on the top floor. Two double beds that can be used as couches, mini-bar and full bath on the bottom floor. Both floors had porches. The top porch had a rope hammock and was great when it rained one afternoon. We didn’t mind the rain at all because the suite and porch were so nice. The food was excellent, although a little repetitive, which is true of most all-inclusive resorts. The beach is on the other side of the road to Negril but a crossing guard is there all day and it’s a short walk so it’s not a problem at all. Great beach bar and grill. The beach itself is great if you don’t mind a few people trying to sell you stuff all day. I didn’t feel harassed at all as I did when we were on the Seven Mile Beach in Negril years ago. Nice pool and pool bar. There’s not much to do at night. They have entertainment at the pool bar but that’s it. It’s perfect for partying at the beach all day then having dinner and turning in early. The only complaint I have is they only have instant coffee in the rooms. The coffee bar is great but I really want to have some Blue Mountain Coffee in my room first thing in the morning. I will definitely go back to Sunset.

Very enjoyable trip. Stayed in room 717, the size and location (near the back) were great. Had a bit of rain one day and spent the time reading and relaxing on the porch. The staff is beyond nice and very helpful at all times. The beach is excellent, very clean with all the necessities and very friendly staff there also. The food was mostly very good, we enjoyed the differences in dining from an American type buffet. The Jamaican foods were quite good, Jerk Chicken in both the restaurant and beach grill were delish. All the fish dishes (snapper mostly) were very good. The facilities, gym and spa are lovely, we took a “yoga” class that was a nice stretch with a very helpful instructor. Would highly recommend Sunset at the Palms. This was not our first trip there and we will surely return again in the future.

Great place, superb service, tree houses are amazing. Adult only experience a bonus. Don't be afraid of the beach across the street, it's private, great service, anything from beach chairs to food to drinks. Property looks like a jungle with plenty of hummingbirds. One of my favourite places jus far, and we are well travelled. Loved the jerk everything...food. A definite competitor to Mexican food.

Enjoyable until our last night..

We chose to stay at SATP because of its size (small) and because it was adults only. We don't usually do all inclusives, but we were only in Negril for 3 nights and wanted the convenience. We were in room 106, which was towards the back of the resort. It was clean and spacious, and the fan and A/C worked well. The mini fridge was also stocked with bottled water, some soda and Red Stripe. Things we loved: 1) The SATP section of the beach was by far the cleanest on Bloody Bay while we were there (the week before Christmas). We walked the entire length of the beach and the sections in front of Couples was the worst for seaweed and garbage. 2) The coffee bar - we appreciate quality coffee and americanos here were great. 3) Small size of the resort allowed us to get to know some of the other guests. 4) Spa attendants were fantastic - she got all the knots out of my back muscles! 5) We felt very welcomed when we first arrived - literally every staff member said welcome or hello. Things we didn't love as much: 1) Despite our room location, we could hear traffic from the road at night. The property isn't set that far back from the road, so this is likely an issue for most of the rooms. We weren't too bothered by it though. 2) The late afternoon fogging of the property. I understand the thinking behind it, but it's really unpleasant to be around while it's happening. I'd avoid the pool area at this time. 3) Wifi didn't work in our room the first half of our stay, but it was fixed and mostly worked after that. Things we could have done without: 1) House wine offerings were terrible, even the sparkling. I'm more fussy than my husband, but even he couldn't stomach the wine offerings. We aren't big cocktail fans, so we ended up drinking rum and Red Stripe most of the time, which got a bit tiring. The other option was to pay for upgraded bottles, which we didn't do. 2) Questionable food quality at the buffet - we had the seafood feast at the buffet on our final night and I ended with a very upset stomach later that evening, which carried on throughout the next day. My husband also had issues after eating at the breakfast buffet the following morning so not sure what it was (we only ate food at the resort during our stay so it wasn't outside food). I usually expect stomach issues to come up when eating at a resort buffet, but the timing was terrible as we had to travel home that afternoon. SATP is located in a beautiful part of Negril and we really enjoyed the beach, but unfortunately our last evening/day was spoiled and so I can't say that we would stay here again.
