Apple Vacations Traveller Reviews

We vacation with another couple and have high standards for our final choice of vacation spots. We were so thrilled with the laid back, quiet, simplicity of Sunset at the Palms. Because there weren't 500 people staying at this resort we received excellent personalized service. The staff was went out of their way to accommodate our needs, but did not hover, allowing us our privacy. The facility is small and gave us the feeling of being in the rain forest with our individual cabins. Highlights include Paul, "the piano man" in the martini bar sharing his talents. Alvin, a personable hard-working young man we enjoyed talking with everyday. Finally, the beautiful white sanded beach and turquoise water with not a wave in sight. This resort isn't for the "party all nighters, but for the adults looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation.

It was decent but I would not stay here again. My girlfriend was eaten up by bedbugs and had to go to the Dr to diagnose and get something for the itching. The choices of food were not the greatest and was not available all day. Been to much better places. Was disappointed.

Not Impressed with Apple Vacations.
Jan 15 2017
Apple website was misleading, hotel is not on the beach and the beach that it has access to is not "7 mile beach". Bathroom had NO bathroom door, had to change rooms. Room had view of a concrete slab construction site. AC in the room did not work properly, room fridge was not restocked by staff. The restaurants were rarely available for us to use, and we had to eat at the buffet (which was average). Food at the beach bar was disgusting. Had problems with the water sports office, charged us for a sailboat lesson that we didn't take and wouldn't refund the charge.

We really did enjoy the facilities. Thought there could have been a few more bells and whistles for the 5 golden apples. However the Apple staff at the airport was extremenely unorganized and uniformed. They really had no idea what was going on.

Me and my wife's vacation to Sunset at the Palms for our birthdays was our second trip there. It was everything we expected, exceptional vacation. The staff was so friendly, the food was dliscious, and the beach was clean. The only complaint we have, which we should have expected do to the dense garden surrounding the rooms, were the amount of lizards and bugs in our room each day/night. This often caused us to lose much sleep hearing them scattering around and often waking to get a few bugs out of the room. Also, we will try not to fly Delta again, the trip home was on time, but on the way down the pilots were 45 minutes late on our first flight causing us to miss our connection out of Atlanta by fifteen minutes and forcing us to wait an additional 5 1/2 hours to catch the next connecting flight. Overall it was a great trip, this being our second time to SATP.

A Wonderfully Unique Hotel
Dec 25 2013
We have traveled to many countries and hotels around the world but, never have experienced anything like Sunset at the Palms. The bungalows are nestled in the gardens of the property, making it feel like you are staying in the jungle. You are always surrounded by trees, palms, flowers, and tranquility. Falliing asleep and waking up to nature was truly amazing. The rooms are clean, fashionably updated, making you feel like you are staying in luxury. The property is always well manicured and the hotel itself is well taken care of. I highly recommend Sunset at the Palms.

The resort was beautiful. The only issue we had was on the beach the close contact with the locals who were constantly allowed to hound you to buy products. It gets frustrating quickly.

Things to know about Sunset at the Palms
Mar 13 2012
The property is gorgeous--lush plants that really make you feel you're in a tropical paradise. The rooms do not have glass windows, rather, screens w/ wooden slats. That means you hear loud tropical birds, traffic and other noises during the night (and others can hear you). Although the hotel info mentions movies at night, they no longer do that. The food is good and plentiful. Fun having a grill at the beach so you can spend all day relaxing there if you choose. And the nicer restaurant that's only open 4 nights a week is wonderful. We did a couple's massage, and only one massage therapist was good. The other was so bad the hotel ended up not charging for that half of the price (though it would've been nice to have the whole thing free). If you're looking for a VERY laid-back experience, this is a great property.

Staff is Amazing... Made the stay VERY personal

What I liked about this resort was the experience of being in a very private rain forest type setting, and being able to walk across a street and be on a semi private (resort dedicated) white sand beach. Absolutly stunning! Our first room did not have any hot water, and the staff was happy and helpful in switctchin us to a room with hot water. This was THE only hiccup in our experience. Special shout out to Mr.Bee for taking special care of us. Choco-Man for the DELICIOUS informative cooking class. Oneal for his efficient help with our luggage. Novlette for the super RELAXING massage outdoors. I recommend this resort if you want a personalized experience with Jamaican rain forest/ white sand beach experience, with a happy-to-help, friendly staff.

We went to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. The Palms in Negril is a small resort where all your needs are met. As soon as we arrived at the airport we were greeted like VIPs by Mobay. There was absolutely no pressure. We hired a private car to take us to the resort. This property is surrounded by lush gardens of green palms, flowers, birds singing, goats calling and views of the mountains it's really breathtaking. Our room 205 had a beautiful view of the mountains and the morning sunrise. The rooms are well-equipped comfy bed, air-conditioned, fridge, lots of water, spacious and each has their own porch. They're like little cottages off the ground and separate from one another. The food was wonderful there was never a repeat of the same old, the French pressed coffee, the fresh ground pepper were an added touch and much appreciated thank you Malcolm and Vanessa. The Lotus Leaf restaurant was divine. Paul the piano man entertained us and made my husband's 50th birthday memorable, thanks Paul. We took advantage of the spa for couples massage, thanks Novlette, Angela and Evelyn. The gym is well-equipped, there's a quiet area to practice yoga or whatever your into. The grounds are well-maintained and the gardeners are happy to tell you about the palms that are growing and the flowers that are blooming, thanks Hedley for the fresh bouquet of flowers it was appreciated. The mosquitoes are unavoidable, bugspray I don't know if it really helps, they do spray the property twice a day. I brought my own mosquito coils and kept one burning outside by the door. We have them worse at home. The beach is a short walk across the road but you were escorted safely and by a handsome young man. Everything you need is at the beach washroom, food, bar, water sports, lounge chairs and you want for nothing, just put up your flag and they will be right with you! The vendors on the beach can be a bother, some are more aggressive than others. Just smile and say no. The security on the property are always around for anything that you need for any problems or just to chat they are happy to. Thanks Lynette you rock, respect from the Backhoe chick! I could go on but that about covers all of the positive that this resort offers, don't be afraid to leave the property and go explore, Jamaica is a beautiful country with beautiful kind and generous people! At the palms if you leave feeling as though you didn't get what you wanted, then you didn't ask for it! My one negative is the wristband, they suck! these things are outdated they're uncomfortable they're sharp and ugly! Please consider something new, there has to be a better alternative then the wristband. Thank you to everyone at The Palms Jamaica you made our seven days memorable to celebrate Paul's 50th birthday!

This was our first time staying here and it was great! The location, beach and the staff are awesome. We were greeted upon arrival and quickly had out "Cabin" in the trees. The units are situated in pairs and scattered in the palms trees and landscaping. Every night was a pleasant walk too an from dinner, drinks entertainment etc.

just okay

I was hesitant to try this resort because of its location which is across the street from the beach. This did cause issues for me. I have knee and back issues and I should have realized what a problem that would be! my husband had no problems at all so it was my fault for agreeing to go. that is all I will say about something that the resort had no control over. About the resort, the cabins were very interesting, The steps going up and down the stairs were not really a big deal this upstairs were no big deal. The rooms were outdated and the floors squeaked so bad that if someone walked across the room when someone else is trying to sleep it will most definitely wake them up. The air-conditioner unit was not able to keep up with the heat in the room during the day. The room was not very clean. You could tell where the maid only swept around the bed and you and under the bed was full of dust bunnies UGH. the bartenders were very nice and the drinks were just OK. The food was just average. It was the same things over and over again. if you are wondering if I would go back to this resort, No Way! One good thing is using Joe Cool Taxi for transportation to and from the airport in Montego Bay and if you asked them to take you to nearby attractions they are glad to accommodate. Sorry to be negative but the Sunset at the Palms is not for me!!
