The all inclusive doesn't meet standards
GEORGE N.

The room and hotel itself was pretty much what we expected, however the food was not good at all. There were very few choices for meals. Breakfast didn't include any breakfast meats at all. No bacon, sausage or anything like that. Not even any chopped ham for omelets. No scrambled eggs, no yogurt, no bagels or English muffins, fruit that was served for breakfast was very limited (3 kinds). This could easily be fixed. Lunch was OK, but the evening meal was very poor. All inclusive at the bar didn't even include most of the kinds of drinks that they actually poor. No rum cream, no Hummingbirds or Tequila sunrise etc. They made them, but if you wanted them you had to pay. The beach area was small, but live able. The security on the beach was Excellent, thanks to Micheal the security guard. Beach chair cushions could be upgraded. There was no entertainment except for the bartenders dancing at times. The wait staff was very good as were the bartenders with the exception of a couple of them that wouldn't even look at you, never said thank-you when you tipped or anything. They could update their lock box system and replace with in room safes. The lock box does work, but just not as convenient. Not sure if it the hotel ownership or the way the hotel is managed, but most of it's problems could be fixed! The breakfast cook at the egg station was friendly and nice for 6 out of the 7 days. But the back up person on Wednesday couldn't even make two eggs at the same time causing huge back ups in the breakfast line. With such limited choices for breakfast most people opted for eggs. The water for tea wasn't even hot enough to steep tea. Had hotter water in the bathroom in our room that what you got for tea, and only 1 kind of tea available unless you brought your own.

The pictures for this hotel are old. My first overall impression was dissappointment. We paid extra for superior beachside. DO NOT do this. The view is over a dirty roof, from a balcony in bad need of repair. Garden side will be just fine. Also what you do not know is that Superioe beachside is up 2 flights of concrete stairs. You will wait at least 5 to 8 minutes for a shower. Then it will be freezing cold, then scalding hot again. The beach is TINY. There are never enough chairs, and very few umbrellas. But who wants to lay in a row and back to back with all the other guests? There are several hotels close by - where the beach is much more accomodating and spacious. The food was just ok. The bar tenders lack any personality for the most part. You will get served - but I often felt like I was bothering them. This is not a place that you will need to bring any dressy clothes. The restuarant next door is good - but very overpriced, with small portions. There is a good place to shop across the street - buy your stuff there...not along the beach! I would not go back to the Legends. Jamaica has a beautiful beach - but enjoy from some other place.

Not at all what we expected from the write-ups and descriptions.

We were very disappointed that the room had not refrigerators in them. Prices at the restaurant were relatively high although that was typical of all the restaurants on the beach. We paid extra for the superior beachside room and the only thing that was beachside about it was that it was on the beachside of the road. The hotel could have offered more amenities with regards to activities and helping with excursions. The staff was friendly and courteous and the rooms were adequate, bathrooms need some work. I doubt that I would visit Negril again, you could not walk on the beach without being approached by the native Jamaicans asking you to buy this and that or to get you to come into their establishment.

The staff was very friendly, they took care of any problems we may have come across. Michael the gaurd does an mazing job at keeping rif raf out of your hair as well. As for apple vacation it's self. I will never book a trip through you ever again, nor will I recommend your travel agency either. After numerous times of asking for beachside room we didn't receive one. Among other problems I had while booking.

Over all the trip was ok. We spent alot of time off site as the staff was not very friendly and there was no entertainment or activities offered. The biggest disappointment was upon our arival to the airport in Montego Bay. Our trip included tranport to and from our resort. We could not find anyone from Apple to take us to the resort. It cost us a $100 cab ride to get from the airport to Legends! Two day before our departre, we were checking with the front desk to make sure we were not going to have to also pay to get back to the airport. An Apple rep happened to be there. When we told him about having to pay $100 for a cab instead of the transport we were supposed to have received, his only response was "Are you serious?" I was very dissapointed. I feel we should be reimbursed for our added expense.

Legends Resort - Negril, Jamaica

Legends Resort was a rated 2-star. This is accurate. The hotel room was clean, but bare-bones. There were few amenties. The lighting in the room and the bathroom was very dark, so these could have been improved. The bed was very comfortable. The beach at the hotel was very small, but Michael (security guard) was very tenacious about keeping the riff-raff out of the area. It was nice that we could go to Samsara (sister hotel) and use their facilities. It took out out of the fray for a day or two. The cook (Mama) prepared basic, but good meals. We knew this would not be a 5-star resort when we booked it. We checked out the reviews on Trip Advisor, and many of them were negative. We had an excellent time, but we are very adaptable people. All we wanted was a clean room. Although the room was a little shabby, it was clean, so this satisfied our needs. As far as recommending this resort to friend/family, we could recomment it to some. Others would not find it up to their standards. We wanted more of a local experience, and we got it at Legends.

I also asked for extra towels, which the office said there's a procedure and the maid would take the 1 towel in am noit return till almost dinner time, no hand towels or wash rags were given. The toilet broke, I had to reming them several times, the AC leaked water all over my clothed, hotel never offered to clean them or never fixed it, they gave me after a few days and I slipped many times, large beacj towels to soak up water, I will certainly make sure next vacation hotel supplies things that I tought were standard.

The Legends Resort hotel dining/bar/beach area is staffed by the most caring and friendly people I have ever come across. Within 24 hours of our arrival the staff made it clear by their actions that taking care of the guest was very importtant to them. The facility was very child/family friendly, and the service staff in the dining/bar beach area made it more so by learning quickly what tha childrens names were, and who they belonged to. We felt as if we had half dozen helpers looking after the kids, that makes life much more relaxing for mom and dad. The hotel rooms, food etc. is not five star, but everything is clean, very good value for the money paid. Everything regarding connections went as smooth as silk, but the bus ride to and from the airport is a little longer than I liked.

I would never recommend this resort to anyone. The only good thing about it, is the lovely beach next to it. This is a rundown motel by the beach. They are many other reasonable price nice hotel Along the beach strip that I enquire about when I found out about the slump my travel agent book me for which they refused to refund back my money. The Bar Close at 10pm which was very upsetting & ridiculous. People go on holiday to have a drink & relax, not to go bed so early like school children or pensioners in their 80"s or 90" . The price for their miniature cocktails is a ripoff, you better off get some drinks/ alcohol in the local shop or supermarket & have in the room. The sea view room is like your sitting in a grave waiting for it to be sealed. It's a bar rooftop view. Their dirty brown spotty towels make you wanna be sick, how can the owner expect someone to dry themselves off with those filthy towels, they should put them outside to wipe feet or puppies to lie on. I see absolutely no reason to ever return to that resort ever again in my life, the only thing that keep me from crying so much was the friendly staffs , I've paid so much money for my vacation, it wasn't worth it for that slump hotel. All the other guests that I spoke to while I was there had the same feeling & experience I had, the dirty filthy towels that they wait for the entire day to be left in their room & no drinks after 10pm & their list just goes on. This hotel needs to be closed down & build over with possible new owners.

There's lots to like here. It did feel more like a hotel than an actual resort as there were no real services or entertainment, but we knew that going in. Enjoyed the local folks selling patties, lobsters and fruit for sale on the beach. Felt very safe leaving things on our chairs as Michael did a great job taking care of the guests and their belongings. Any aggressive vendors were sent on their way. Rooms were kept clean and the walkways were very tropical. Air conditioning worked well on the ground floor rooms. Some of the dinner offerings were very good but we were disappointed with the fish dishes. We had been looking forward to fresh fish. As well, desserts............... not great. We took the shuttle to Samsara a couple of times. The water was crystal clear and a little cooler than the beach. Easy to get in and out, even if you're not up to jumping off the cliffs. The pizzeria across the road was so hot and it took over an hour to get a vegetable pizza to our table. One suggestion I would make is that the rooms have more than two towels per day. As well, the water temperature in the shower goes from cool to scalding in no time at all. That's dangerous. There was a young lad at the hotel that showed me the burn marks on his arm from the shower. The pool at the beachside could use a couple of umbrellas too, but otherwise fine. I was glad to have booked the beachside as the garden side was a bit of a hike for meals and bar service. Worth the little extra to stay beachside- especially considering crossing the busy road at night.

We had a good vacation in Negrill. Kenrick is a good guy who takes care of you. The rooms are sober but clean. Restaurant is ok, maybe a little more sorts of fruits would be nice. The beach is perfect but maybe more sun umbrellas an less broken beds would be better. There are not enough beds when people are coming from the sister hotel samsara. Overall perfect

Rooms are clean with nice balcony. Emplyoees are all friendly. You gwt what you pay for as far as the restauraunt is concerned. Woldnt want to pay for thw all inclusive as it is extremely limited Go eat around town for better experience. NO BEACH TOWELS OR BLOW DRYERS. We had to go across thw strewt and buy cheap beach towels for $10 apiece. You can buy Red Stripes for less at little beach bars down the beach.
