was not informed before hand of $100.00 deposit. I chose this hotel because I was on a budget, I did not bring credit cards.
The all inclusive doesn't meet standards
The room and hotel itself was pretty much what we expected, however the food was not good at all. There were very few choices for meals. Breakfast didn't include any breakfast meats at all. No bacon, sausage or anything like that. Not even any chopped ham for omelets. No scrambled eggs, no yogurt, no bagels or English muffins, fruit that was served for breakfast was very limited (3 kinds). This could easily be fixed. Lunch was OK, but the evening meal was very poor. All inclusive at the bar didn't even include most of the kinds of drinks that they actually poor. No rum cream, no Hummingbirds or Tequila sunrise etc. They made them, but if you wanted them you had to pay. The beach area was small, but live able. The security on the beach was Excellent, thanks to Micheal the security guard. Beach chair cushions could be upgraded. There was no entertainment except for the bartenders dancing at times. The wait staff was very good as were the bartenders with the exception of a couple of them that wouldn't even look at you, never said thank-you when you tipped or anything. They could update their lock box system and replace with in room safes. The lock box does work, but just not as convenient.
Not sure if it the hotel ownership or the way the hotel is managed, but most of it's problems could be fixed! The breakfast cook at the egg station was friendly and nice for 6 out of the 7 days. But the back up person on Wednesday couldn't even make two eggs at the same time causing huge back ups in the breakfast line. With such limited choices for breakfast most people opted for eggs. The water for tea wasn't even hot enough to steep tea. Had hotter water in the bathroom in our room that what you got for tea, and only 1 kind of tea available unless you brought your own.
not what i expected.
The pictures for this hotel are old. My first overall impression was dissappointment. We paid extra for superior beachside. DO NOT do this. The view is over a dirty roof, from a balcony in bad need of repair. Garden side will be just fine. Also what you do not know is that Superioe beachside is up 2 flights of concrete stairs. You will wait at least 5 to 8 minutes for a shower. Then it will be freezing cold, then scalding hot again. The beach is TINY. There are never enough chairs, and very few umbrellas. But who wants to lay in a row and back to back with all the other guests? There are several hotels close by - where the beach is much more accomodating and spacious. The food was just ok. The bar tenders lack any personality for the most part. You will get served - but I often felt like I was bothering them. This is not a place that you will need to bring any dressy clothes. The restuarant next door is good - but very overpriced, with small portions. There is a good place to shop across the street - buy your stuff there...not along the beach! I would not go back to the Legends. Jamaica has a beautiful beach - but enjoy from some other place.
Not at all what we expected from the write-ups and descriptions.
We were very disappointed that the room had not refrigerators in them. Prices at the restaurant were relatively high although that was typical of all the restaurants on the beach. We paid extra for the superior beachside room and the only thing that was beachside about it was that it was on the beachside of the road. The hotel could have offered more amenities with regards to activities and helping with excursions. The staff was friendly and courteous and the rooms were adequate, bathrooms need some work. I doubt that I would visit Negril again, you could not walk on the beach without being approached by the native Jamaicans asking you to buy this and that or to get you to come into their establishment.
The staff was very friendly, they took care of any problems we may have come across. Michael the gaurd does an mazing job at keeping rif raf out of your hair as well.
As for apple vacation it's self. I will never book a trip through you ever again, nor will I recommend your travel agency either. After numerous times of asking for beachside room we didn't receive one. Among other problems I had while booking.
Over all the trip was ok. We spent alot of time off site as the staff was not very friendly and there was no entertainment or activities offered. The biggest disappointment was upon our arival to the airport in Montego Bay. Our trip included tranport to and from our resort. We could not find anyone from Apple to take us to the resort. It cost us a $100 cab ride to get from the airport to Legends! Two day before our departre, we were checking with the front desk to make sure we were not going to have to also pay to get back to the airport. An Apple rep happened to be there. When we told him about having to pay $100 for a cab instead of the transport we were supposed to have received, his only response was "Are you serious?" I was very dissapointed. I feel we should be reimbursed for our added expense.
Legends Resort - Negril, Jamaica
Legends Resort was a rated 2-star. This is accurate. The hotel room was clean, but bare-bones. There were few amenties. The lighting in the room and the bathroom was very dark, so these could have been improved. The bed was very comfortable. The beach at the hotel was very small, but Michael (security guard) was very tenacious about keeping the riff-raff out of the area. It was nice that we could go to Samsara (sister hotel) and use their facilities. It took out out of the fray for a day or two. The cook (Mama) prepared basic, but good meals. We knew this would not be a 5-star resort when we booked it. We checked out the reviews on Trip Advisor, and many of them were negative. We had an excellent time, but we are very adaptable people. All we wanted was a clean room. Although the room was a little shabby, it was clean, so this satisfied our needs. As far as recommending this resort to friend/family, we could recomment it to some. Others would not find it up to their standards. We wanted more of a local experience, and we got it at Legends.
toilet broke took 2 days to get fixed, air condition leaked water all over my luggage, never got fixed
I also asked for extra towels, which the office said there's a procedure and the maid would take the 1 towel in am noit return till almost dinner time, no hand towels or wash rags were given.
The toilet broke, I had to reming them several times, the AC leaked water all over my clothed, hotel never offered to clean them or never fixed it, they gave me after a few days and I slipped many times, large beacj towels to soak up water, I will certainly make sure next vacation hotel supplies things that I tought were standard.
The Legends Resort hotel dining/bar/beach area is staffed by the most caring and friendly people I have ever come across. Within 24 hours of our arrival the staff made it clear by their actions that taking care of the guest was very importtant to them. The facility was very child/family friendly, and the service staff in the dining/bar beach area made it more so by learning quickly what tha childrens names were, and who they belonged to. We felt as if we had half dozen helpers looking after the kids, that makes life much more relaxing for mom and dad. The hotel rooms, food etc. is not five star, but everything is clean, very good value for the money paid. Everything regarding connections went as smooth as silk, but the bus ride to and from the airport is a little longer than I liked.

Good location, but definitely needs some improvements.
Spent a week at Legends, staying on the beach side. The beach area is extremely tiny, and there are definitely not enough chairs (which had to have been the most uncomfortable beach chairs ever!)- people were placing towels and reserving chairs as early as 8am, so if you got up later than 9:30, forget about getting a spot! I was happy to see that new chairs had been bought for the beach, so hopefully the discomfort won't be an issue much longer - although the overcrowding is!
The room was comfortable, although horrible water pressure in the shower. On arrival, we were given two thin towels in our room - we asked for more towels, and were told they only provide one per person - Then we were brought washcloths as well - No problem with one per person, but it should at least be a bath towel and washcloth!
Staff were extremely friendly and sweet, definitely the highlight of the hotel. We only ate at the resort one morning - very limited and pricy menu - I would not have been happy to have paid for an AI package - we attempted to get ice from the bar one night at 9pm as we got ready to go out, and everything was closed up.
Overall, the location is good, staff is great, and if the price is right, I might stay here again -
Single night stay
Spent a day/night in Negril and Legends was great. Hotel staff all very friendly. Rooms were very comfortable. We stayed on the “garden view” side which is basically 15 steps from the beach just a quick way across the road. Very safe and easy to get around. If using the legends beach & beach chairs just make sure to get out early & stay within the property line (between the fences) otherwise the neighboring properties are fussy and ask you to move. Also bring your own towel as they’re not supplied by the hotel. Would stay here again.
Average place, good location
Great location, it’s okay for its price. If you don’t have a beach side room crossing the busy road constantly Is a pain. There is a friendly guide that does assist with road crossing.
The rooms are mediocre, the showers have very little pressure and hot water. The maids spray everything down with insect repellent without warning.
The food is very underwhelming and overpriced, The alcohol is very dry and expensive. Walk down the beach for 2 minutes and get the same drinks for half the price.
The hotel only provides beach chairs and spots for half the capacity of the hotel, unless you go early and claim a spot and leave your things like everyone else does, you won’t have a spot for the rest of the day.
When we first arrived, we went to get food and the hotel staff said our food was free. We accepted it thinking it was a complementary free first meal or something. After the meal they said they messed up and labeled us as all inclusive and made us pay for the meal after we ate it and told it was free. It ended up being 38 dollars for a 2 mediocre plates of mash potatoes, veggies and stir fry. Last meal we had there and not a good first impression.
This is the type of place you go for a place to sleep and explore everything around it as it’s a great location and close to the beach.
After a 9 and a half hour flight and hour ish taxi ride to Legends we had an easy smooth check with a cheerful and friendly receptionist. We were given a bottle of water but would have preferred a red stripe 😜. We were shown to our room - sea view , above the restaurant up three flights of stairs. The room was large clean and dated , just as expected. Good WiFi connection and lots of tv channels. It was Christmas Day so we quickly changed and headed straight to the beach , one minute walk and enjoyed our first sunset with a cold all inclusive beer! We have been to the Grand Pineapple before so my review is comparing to there . The sunset is equally as good! The drink quality is the same but lacks in choice. The rooms are of similar standard but the grounds are not as tidy. The all inclusive food is tasty and fresh but lacking in choice. Not self serve to avoid waste I expect but you can go back for more. Beach area cramped. Only missed out on beach chairs towards the end of our holiday as we were getting up later due to time difference to uk , so worked in our favour as the weather had also changed so we didn’t mind too much. I don’t like the idea of beach chairs being reserved for guests from samsara , the bus only arrives at 10.30 some days that was half way though our day and was quite annoying seeing empty beds in the sun whilst we patiently sat on our shady bed ! We spent a day at samsara that was enough , too quiet for us. The vibe of the beach , long walks , beers at interesting beach shacks is what it’s all about for us. We chose Legends as a cheaper all inclusive base so we had spare money to go out and mingle with the locals as and when we felt like it. The staff make this place a pleasant holiday place really , friendly and helpful and have time to chat and get to know you , not like in the big resorts which I hate , special mentions to Kendrick, Giovanni, Notoya, Shauney, Jennifer, Latoya, Kes , Jean, and Michael without you guys the place is nothing . ONE 💕 LOVE 💕 would we stay again , prob not as prefer GP more space ! But will deffo call by to say hi to my new friends.

Check in was a breeze. Very friendly & accommodating. This a small mom & pop type of resort which is why we picked it. What's really nice you have Legends which is on 7 mile beach & SamSara on the cliffs with a free shuttle back & forth daily. Beach at Legends really small no room to accommodate all the guests. If your not an early riser forget about getting a lounge/umbrella. Heard guests complain about that. Spent most of our days at SamSara lots of room there, could always get a lounge plus a nice breeze & views. The food was ok at both places. There are lots other restaurants close by to go off the resort for dinner. Any drinks like a Dirty Bananna, Margs, Hummingbird & other frozen cocktails are not part of the AI. Rooms are dated, beds a little hard, amenities are limited bars of soap only. Our room was very clean, coodos to the housekeepers they do a great job, air worked well. All the staff just wonderful, polite, courteous, smiling & very personable like family. A lot of repeat guests. Says a lot about all the people working their. I would recommend this resort. Just one more thing bring bug spray.
