Good Deal for Price

I thought the hotel was a nice place. Staff was friendly except for some of the waiters. The food was mediocre but everything else was pretty great. The bartenders were amazing and probably the friendliest people in the whole place. Overall a decent place to stay.

Watchout for the "non-staff" staff

Great place is you can navigate the sharks selling excursions or "vacation shares" (new timeshare I guess) Hotel staff is EXCELLENT, and super friendly. The time share folks that assaulted us while waiting for our room even told us not to waste our time checking in with the Apple vacations rep because they were just going to try and sell us stuff. Ha!

Pretty good experience overall at the hotel. It was a beautiful destination and good weather. Food was good but nothing mind blowing. If I had to say anything it would just be that Apple told us to meet their rep at a specific time/location to schedule our transfer home and they didn’t show up. We had to call directly to schedule and we were under the impression that it was booked. But on the day of our departure , no one showed. The hotel graciously provided a cab to take us to the airport or we would have missed our flights.

The hotel does not match Apples stated claims. Hotel is run down, dead flies everywhere. Check in staff is less the friendly. Property is overcrowded and checking is difficult when it is busy. A wedding is held daily at the Hotel and makes for chaos. Pool area does not accommodate amount of guests booked. Constant battle for chairs at the pool. Our towels were stolen and security constantly at the pool patrolling . Indicates a problem. We have booked many vacations through apple and have never been disappointed until this time.

We love the Grand Palladium in Punta Mita. Although the resort is a little older than the other resorts in PV, the staff does an excellent job of keeping the facilities clean and up to date. Any issues (non-functional TV remote) were handled immediately and with a smile and an apology. The staff are what makes the resort what it is. Always a friendly 'Hola' as you pass by and an eagerness to help in any way possible. We love Matias at the adult pool bar! Thanks again for a wonderful trip!

We were asked if we wanted to upgrade to the Royal Suites, we accepted the offer for additional monies. Once upgraded, the rooms and service were excellent. There was a problem of communication of when a room would be ready. We were told 3PM then packed our stuff and met at the lobby, ( we stayed one night in regular room) it was a few hours before our room at the Royal was ready. The shows were so-so....but maybe we are spoiled. We liked the Grand Palladium, Riviera Maya MX much, much better

Very Lovely Stay

The lovely welcome with a fresh juice beverage at the reception desk was so nice. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful for our whole stay. We loved the free boogie boards and sandcastle buckets, etc. Loved playing in the waves on the beah and swimming in the saltwater "pool" for our daughter. Just a nice, relaxing place to stay. The food at the Mexican restaurant was excellent. The other restaurants we tried were fine, with the fresh-pressed juices at the cafeteria being exceptional. The only downside for us was the beds were quite small, more like a double than a queen. That was probably stated in advance and I overlooked it. Otherwise great stay! Highly recommend a daytrip into Sayulita by cab (about 25 minute drive) to check it out.

Wonderful, restful vacation.

Our recent vacation to the Grand Pallidium in Riveria Nyarit was above and beyond what we expected. There were no problems with our direct flight or transportation to the resort. The Grand Palladium is a beautiful, unique resort. The rooms are lovely, but most of our time was spent outside. There are 3 pools, our time was spent at the adult infinity pool. I can't say enough about the service at this resort. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The check-in staff called our room at least 3 times to make sure everything was fine and to see if we needed anything. I would definitely return to the Grand Palladium and would recommend a stay at this resort.

The staff was amazing. They were courteous, helpful and always positive. Loved them all. Our room left a lot to be desired. In the 21st century, we now require outlets by the bedside and a few more than a couple throughout the room. Our patio door was stuck and the curtain was unhooked at the hanging rod. It took them 2 days to correct this. They came by every day but always after 8:30pm when we were getting ready for bed. The shower floor was so slippery, it was very difficult to relax when showering. The beach...well there was none on our side of the hotel. It was all slippery rock. It was not all we had hoped.

Best Honeymoon Ever!
SammyBradwell, Sheffield, United Kingdom

I visited Grand Palladium with my new husband in November for our honeymoon and it was brilliant. Being rollercoaster fanatics we usually holiday in places near theme parks but after all the busy times we had leading up to the wedding, we chose to honeymoon here in order to relax - and how relaxing it was! We LOVED the spa and the kayaking that was available at the beach. The adult pool was fun for socialising and the entertainment at the main pool was good too. The food was very tasty and the choice of drinks included with our wristbands was endless. As a treat, we did the Romantic Moonlight Couples Massage on the beach which was fabulous. We had a bottle of champagne included and some chocolate covered strawberries. I'd highly recommend it to anyone on honeymoon. Also, when we first arrived, because we were on honeymoon, the hotel had put a free bottle of champagne and a fruit basket in our room. We loved this. Thank you. I'd also like to give a big shout out to Bernardo and Saul at the Secret Bar. A big, big highlight of our holiday! Not only do they make the best drinks, but their customer service is top notch. Thank you for all the brilliant nights at your bar guys! All-in-all a brilliant trip. We were sad to go home.

The Bad: This resort has some good qualities but falls way short of bring rated five stars. The rooms are basic and the walls paper thin. You could literally hear the people breathing in the next room. There are no drawers in the rooms so there was no place to put most of our clothes. There were two shelves in the closet but the space was insufficient. We asked for a room on the ground floor through our travel agent Sunwing and got placed on the third floor. Our group of 7 are all over 65 and we were not impressed. You also have to be a mountain goat to traverse the resort. The beach is small, rocky and I would rate as one of the worst beaches we have ever encountered at a resort. There were never any lounges available on the beach We stayed at the Riu Jalisco last year. it was not rated as high as the Palladium and it was better in all areas and a $1000.00 dollars a couple cheaper. The Palladium is also in a remote location so accessing Puerto Vallarta and other areas was difficult and expensive. The Sunwing Rep ripped us off. He said he would save us a trip into Costco to bye a particular medicine we needed. We had purchased it before so we knew the price. We gave him 1500 pesos and he bought us 500 pesos of the medicine and pocketed a 1000 pesos. He offered no receipt and said he did not have one when we asked.. He should be terminated immediately!!! As for the restaurants the only one worth going to is the Oriental. Good service and great food. The Mexican restaurant was disgusting although I will admit the Taco soup was good. I ordered the Mahi-Mahi and it was so over cooked it would have made a great hockey puck. The steak restaurant server cowboy steak that was so tough a chain saw would not cut it. The fillet was good but all side dishes were cold i.e. the potatoes, the broccoli and the carrots. The Good: The support/service desk run by the hotel had knowledgeable and helpful staff. The Hemmingway Bar was the best. Both Ismael and Juan were out standing bar staff. The buffet had very good food. The pools were also very good. The staff made the hotel. They were polite and friendly and worked very hard. With out such great staff this place would be rated a one star by me. I had to visit the hotel doctor and she was outstanding. 1

A Surfers Paradise-Every Day Magnificent Sunrise & Sunset

Palladium Our second visit with family and appeared to up the quality of customer service, friendliness of all staff and family activities. For surfers, excellent positioning and waves for enjoyable surfing. Safe ocean pool for all levels of swimmers. Sufficient restaurants that do not require reservations but you might be required to wait during the busy seasons. The Mexican restaurant is the best for outdoor eating under the stars. Ask for Luciano as he will provide top level customer service. The steakhouse is next in line and a wait is worth it with delicious and tender steaks. Here, look for Alejandro Matre’d and friendly Felipe, Bryan and Fernando for excellent courteous service. For a pleasant lunch at the pool buffet, look for a wonderful server always with a smile, Irene. The breakfast buffet is really good and at the egg stations you are always greeted with smiles. The main buffet for dinner is good but after awhile the same food gets tedious and it needs some creative thinking by the sous chef to up the ante. Sunday, paella on the beach 1 pm sharp. Bars stocked well and look for Hemingway’s Coffee bar for after all all day coffees, drinks and up environment. The beach is great, clean with very pleasant staff providing happy continuous service. Look for Raymundo and receive very friendly, courteous service. The surfing shack is well equipped with all size surfboards and bogey boards for the use of guests. Reminded me of the Beach Boy days in California. Great waves and surfing community spirit. Nightly entertainment for children and adults especially over the weekend, excellent. All around, a good hotel and looking forward to my return next year.

Great Vacation!

Tue Dec 11 16:19:52 EST 2018
We stayed Nov 28-Dec 8. The first four days was our family of four and the remaining days we were with a group of 60 for a wedding. Overall our vacation was fantastic! After reading a lot of the reviews about the wedding beach parties I requested that our room not be close to that area. Turned out we were probably the closest room to the beach parties and so glad we were!!! The view we had from our room was amazing. The beach parties are done by midnight and honestly weren’t too loud. There are lots of stairs and hills around the resort but it wasn’t an issue for our group. One issue we did come across was the resort seemed to run out of certain types of alcohol. At one point there was no plain vodka, only flavoured. As well as they ran out of red wine. The Mexican and Asian restaurants were fantastic!! However one thing that was never told to us was that some of the ala carts close on certain nights or you can only get in via reservation. But we were also told that reservations were not necessary so we found that a little frustrating. The staff throughout the whole resort were great! Very friendly and helpful. The two bartenders at the adult pool bar were our favourite! Bernardo and Santiago. It was only Santiago’s fourth day working at the resort and he was awesome! Bernardo makes wicked drinks and always made sure we were taken care of!!! They never let our drinks go empty and they were very funny!! We had lots of fun with them. The food at the snack buffet by main pool wasn’t the greatest. We found the food was dried out and not a huge selection. The main buffet had lots of selections and is very big so there was never a wait to eat. The wedding was amazing and very well organized! Overall we had a fabulous time and would definitely come back!

Best/Worst Vacation Ever?

I am not quite sure how to put this place into words! The views are amazing, the rooms are very clean and the staff was excellent! All of those good things, and yet 5/6 of us became violently ill at the Resort. After about 24/36 Hours after arriving we all experienced at least some kind of diarrhea. Not wanting to blame the Resort, we assumed it must have been from adjusting to the food, or just our alcohol in take. Not wanting to continue to be sick, several of us stopped consuming alcohol only to have most of the symptoms get worse. We tried a combination of not eating from certain Restaurants, not drinking, or avoiding certain foods, and one by one we all got worse, eventually ending with 4/6 of us spending at least 24 hours with a fever, chills, terrible vomiting, stomach pains, and some seriously painful diarrhea. Now we would love to take some of the blame, but to put our group in context, 2 of us have traveled around Africa and drank homemade beer from a paint can and didn't get sick. 2 of us were firefighters, and are well aware of the dangers of heat exhaustion and proper hydration and all 6 of us have traveled the area before and have never had a problem. Once we started to feel ill we started to notice some items that drastically needed improvement on the resort. If you would like to see a thrill of your life, I recommend seeing how long the Pre Cooked Chicken Wings will sit on the counter for in the Sports Bar before being reheated in the deep fryer, sauced, and served. I would also recommend observing the raw meat at the teppanyaki station, the fridge that it is in doesn't appear to be working, and many of the buffet tables at the resort don't appear to have any proper temperature controls. Most of the Fruit from the buffet would often be warm from sitting in the sun or on incorrectly chilled buffets. We also noticed a lot of cross contamination, specifically a cooked meat and uncooked chicken being prepared with the same cooking utensils. If you look in the last review, the dishwashing procedures leave a lot to be desired. More than once we seen a paper towel being used to clean the rim of a cup and then it being served to the next customer. You can really tell how poorly the cups are cleaned because almost every cup will contain little red flakes in it. The red flakes are the rim salt they use for Bloody Mary's. The last days of our trip we used our own glasses for everything and if it didn't come out of a package out of a store we didn't eat it. Another thing that we weren't expecting and really got tired of hearing was "we are out" "we are out of bottled water, we are out of Red Wine" the very first night we arrived we sat down for dinner and we all asked for a glass of Red Wine. We were told the resort was out of Red Wine and more would arrive tomorrow. Taking that at its word, we became very confused seeing several people around us drinking red wine, telling us they were getting it from other bars around the resort. To us it appeared that they would only have so much stock at certain times and instead of ensuring enough for demand they would just say "we are out of that" If at the beginning of your dinner service you have already run out of Red Wine, you have some serious management issues. More than once we were told the resort has no more bottled water, only glasses of water. Well after we stopped drinking out of the resort cups this became a frustrating experience. For almost a day and a half they said they had no bottled water on the beach and adult pool bar. I would also recommend stocking up your room if you do come across bottled water, as toward the end of the night the bartenders either tell you they are out of bottled water, or they just don't want to find you some. Lastly, we found the restaurant times very confusing. It wasn't ever told to us that some places would be closed completely for weddings on random nights at random times and that we would not have access to certain areas at certain times. The schedule on the check in desk rarely matches what the staff tells you, and the materials provided at check in were incorrect by almost an hour. To try and displace some of the confusion we asked to make reservations. We were told that we either have to be Travel Club Members or a Family to make reservations. I am fine with their Travel Club Members and Families with young Children having access to better times for reservations, no one enjoys a hungry grouchy child, but it was frustrating to try and get to a place early only to see it was empty and everything "was reserved" we were then told we would have an hour and half wait or more. Luckily we only ever waited 20-25 minutes tops for a table. What was also frustrating, was we would ask for a table for 6 and be asked to split into two groups. Several times we would point out to staff tables that could be joined or ideas to accommodate us only to be told no. After being told no, we would agree to wait for a table that would fit us, and then be buzzed back to the restaurant to find they had just done what we recommended! I mean thanks? In all honesty this Resort has some great qualities and some of the staff was really really good to us. This was our second trip to a Palladium Resort and we had such a good time at the one in Cancun it was disappointing to follow it up here. If we had to rate it, it will be a good memory of a bad time!
