Barcelo Bavaro Beach is great!
My wife and I stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach for our honeymoon. The place was very nice, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was really good. It was especially nice because the Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort is adults only and not overly crowded, but it comes with access to everything that the Barcelo Bavaro Palace resort has to offer (they are attached to each other and just a short walk or trolley ride from each other). I hope to go back and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice getaway!
Shoddy and Worn Beach Resort
Barcelo Bavero Beach hotel is well past any prime. Rooms are old, bathrooms are a 1050's cast off, and daily room maintenance is undependable and incomplete. Room description was deceptive (ocean front is without any view of ocean).
Did not have correct room ready, put us in another building, away from the group. moved us to a unclean room. One bedframe was broken, never had wash clothes not enough water. No swim up bar in pool, no drink service on the beach.
Staff make all the difference. Adults only means "Quiet only"
Been to Punta Cana many times. This is the only resort where staff did not seem happy and rarely smiled. Despite tipping. No beach service is unacceptable. No beach bar is a major bummer. No swim up bar in adults only area is not acceptable. If I had realized how far the only swim up bar was from the adults only section never would have booked here. Beautiful beach and hotel. There are way better out there. Prefer Iberostar
I would recommend to anyone to go here
The only thing I would change is the acoustics in the theater at the Barcelo Palace. The one show was extremely hard to hear or understand.
Musty room..Horrible food.
My first complaint is regarding F9 airlines. Your air prices are out of sight. Charges for 1st bags, carry on bags, soft drinks, gasoline surcharges,....you are gouging your clients. On top of charging all of these charges; the final "blow" was the "gratuity" section on the charge pad! I kept hearing that F9 is the low cost airline. I would advise you to strip that line from your description. I have sold Apple Vacations since their inception (Thompson vacations) what happened to Apple using charter planes? Fuel surcharge? Please...gas is the lowest it has been in years. About the food at this hotel. I have always enjoyed the food at EVERY hotel buffet I have eaten at since your inception. This truly was overdone, dry meat, pale watermelon, hard French toast etc. The Japanese restaurant (at $15 addt'l per person), was our only decent meal during our stay. I will continue to sell Apple land. But, I am afraid I cannot include your air. Southwest is truly the "low-cost airline".
Room and level not what I booked
Enjoyed my stay overall. Alacarte restauarants were better then buffets. Main disappointment was that I booked an ocean front sun deck and was given an ocean view room. Was told at the hotel that the ocean front rooms were for club premium members which is what I booked and paid for. I was given some apple perks as a vip, but only got premium level through Barcelo. The apple rep told me we were club premium. We did not get the perks of a club premium member nor did we get the room we booked and paid for.
Not the Happiest staff.
Check in for the hotel is at 3 pm, so if you arrive before that you will not have a room ready. However, even after our 3 pm check in they only had one of our rooms ready and we didn't get the second room for almost 2 hours. The staff at this hotel aren't the kindest, mainly the guys we had two occasions were two different guys gave us attitude for something that was out of our control. They have a little gift shop in the hotel but you can't pay with cash, they charge it to your room and when you check out you pay for it, or you can go across the hall pay someone else get a receipt and walk back to the gift shop to pick up your items. This was one of the reasons one of the guys gave us attitude, no one explained this to us when we checked in so we were confused. Our balcony door broke the first night we were there. We had someone come up and "fix it" but he said he would come back tomorrow with a set of wheels, so the door could slide easier, that never got fixed. We called again they sent the person to the wrong room, we went downstairs gave them our room number and that didn't help. We left and our door was still not fixed.
Recommend for adult only travelers, golfers, beach dwellers (watch for high wind days due to blown sand). Great food, will brag up "la brisa" on the beach (lunch and dinner), mexico lindo (dinner) and Chez Gourmet (dinner) (need dinner reservations). Don't miss the sports bar or the restaurant at the Golf course (beef rib). The golf course was designed by that no good bastard Pete Dye so bring extra golf balls and play within your game.
This resorts sits on one of most beautiful beaches we have been to. The beach is a good mile long. The resort is one of the cleanest we have stayed in.
We had a great stay!

Best resort i ever stayed at.
Everything is perfect. Not a single mistake. Perfect beach, activities , friendly staff , excellent restaurants , huge variety of restaurants. Excellent food.
We had a problem with our bathroom and on same day they changed the room and apologized.
I will return back there for sure.
We upgraded to the premium level and it was well worth it. You can duck in and sit in the A/C after hanging at the beach and have fresh fruit, champagne and desserts any time of the day. Also, check-in and check-out were a breeze and we were immediately accommodated if we needed anything from housekeeping or just had general questions. We stayed in the 3000 building (room 3015.) Buildings 2 and 4 are closer to the beachfront but our room was great. It was less than a 2 minute walk to the beach. Room was cool, bed was comfortable, there were two chairs and a table to play backgammon at and a mini-fridge. There is a safe in the room and plenty of hanging space for clothing. Outside the sliding glass door are two chaise lawn chairs and a table in between hedges which give you privacy. What we love most about this resort were the people. Always friendly, helpful and happy. Jose was our favorite bartender in the main lobby.
There were live shows every night in the theater and we super enjoyed the circus and Michael Jackson tribute. The best way to describe this resort is like being on a cruise without the ship and small cabins. There were so many activities every day - everything from Zumba to crazy games on the beach, bingo, beach volleyball, soccer (foot ball), bocce ball, outside pool tables and ping pong tables and even a life size chess board outside. The pool is large with plenty of room if you don't want to go to the beach. There is another bar at the pool and attached to it on the lower level is where you exchange your orange beach towels for clean ones. This is also where you can borrow a book to read or a game to play.
The sister resort the Palace is just a short train ride away (train runs every 10 minutes and is free.) Pick it up in front of the lobby. There at the Palace is the casino which is small but very clean and no smoking. The palace also has a theater with live shows every night that alternate from the Bavaro beach theater. Although we didn't go, there is also a bowling alley. However, I would not stay at the Palace - it's too big and chaotic. Unlike the buffet at the beach, the buffet at the Palace is air conditioned - if you are lucky enough to score a table. And whatever you do, don't get up and leave to get more food without someone guarding the table or you will lose it.
If you want rum punch, please be sure to ask specifically for Bavaro Rum which we found to be the best. Also, we were sort of the envy of the place as we took our tervis cups and the bar tenders were more than happy to fill them up (rather than going back 100 times for the small plastic glasses.)
The food was great at the buffet but our favorite by far was at Le Comedie in the palace. It's a French restaurant with some of the best service and food we have ever had. Be sure to order the crepe with asparagus and salmon. The sauce surrounding it is to die for. Another great appetizer is the shrimp cocktail which is 5 large shrimp served with Thousand Island sauce in a pineapple. We also had chateaubriand, salmon in a dill sauce, sea bass and beef wellington - all very good. Champagne and wine come with dinners at all of the restaurants as well as beer and soft drinks. It was great fun starting every day with a couple of glasses of champagne :0) We also ate at Chez Gourmet which was a little disappointing. The restaurant had quaint, intimate seating but the wait staff was stiff and somber. Food was ok - we had lamb and lobster. Lamb was better than the lobster. We also went to the seafood restaurant in the palace - Coral. They bent over backwards to make sure we were happy but food is just average. Not super impressed. We also had the romantic dinner on the beach on our last night at the Bavaro Beach. My husband enjoyed it but I couldn't see the food so was leary to eat it. We had the seafood martini appetizer but I think the fish was ceviche style. The Lobster bisque is very different from the US - thin and oily. Lobster was good but again, the setting was the best part. The waiter took a bunch of pictures with my phone which seemed a little cheesy as we aren't part of the honeymoon generation anymore.
All told I think we spent about $2,000 for 8 days which we thought was really reasonable for two people considering all of the food was delicious and the drinks were non-stop.
Super location just 10 min away from Expo i atended
This is an all inclusive hotel and the room was ok we went to a Expo and stayed there for 5 nights so we spent most of our time in the hotel, food was very good and the waitreses very kind and would answer to all our request with a big smile on their face and this makes a diference allways !!!!!! keep up the good work
Great place!! The staff are great and activities are awesome!!!! Love the beach and grounds!!! A lot of activities, restaurants and pool are is great! Rooms are very nice and restaurants and bars have a lot of selection. Domarias and Alex at the bar/ activities are amazing!!!
We stayed at the resort for our honeymoon and this happened to unfortunately coincide with Hurricane Irma, the staff were very efficient to ensure the visitors safety and the whole trip was a success even with a night hunkered down to avoid the storm.
Everyone was very friendly and the food was great quality. I would highly recommend
