This was our second visit. I can’t say enough how wonderful the hotel staff are. So accomadating. Hotel needs a little updating
I have stayed at Riu's previously. This was as expected from a service and food/drink quality perspective. The whole resort decor is in need of updating. Room was very brighy and unable to dim lights for a warmer feel. Found cocroaches and small bugs in the room. Reallu hate the 2 beds pushed together concept. Took any romatic feel away.
noise out side our room and bathroom.
The way the rooms are set up inside, The toilet has a door, but the shower is open with a glass door with a very small wall. If you aren't staying with a spouse, there isn't privacy. It is very noisy outside the rooms. The doors are very heavy and slam LOUD!!!! We also heard the couple next door screaming at their kids up until 2-3 am. Everything echo's due to tile and cement.
Great trip to Playa del Carmen
Great hotel. Room a bit musty but no problem with that. Clean grounds, very well taken care of. Workers are constantly cleaning everything. All of our servers were top notch, smiling all the time, and happy to help with anything you need. Bottled water readily available. So many choices at buffet's for food, and plenty to drink. Beach was beautiful, seaweed definitely there, but they are always working hard to get rid of it--just seems like an endless battle, but that's the ocean for ya! Beach not rocky at all, that's the main reason we chose this resort.
Hotel needs work........
Hotel in general seemed to be lacking in general maintenance upkeep. Our shower door would not close completely, door handle on closet kept falling off, had friends that their air conditioning didn't work at all. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. Would not be a place that I would go back to......
Hotel was clean but could use updating and was not luxurious. It was very average.
Really liked this hotel.. The grounds were nice especially for a somewhat older facility. There were plenty of vegetation around so didn't seem too commercial. Beach was nice and a very good location from the pools, bars and restaurant. Food was just okay... Must get up really early to get a reservation for a couple of the restaurants. The highlights for us; proximity to the beautiful beach, excellent service, it's just a short walk down the beach to a totally uninhabited area.
We had a wonderful time. Everything was of very high quality. Will definitely go back again in the future.
On our first day the shower was broke
Staff were amazing, food ok, hotel clean abd nice grounds
Thank you Apple Vacations
We have used Apple for the past eight years. Your service is great and you are responsive. We would suggest that you really evaluate the hotel rating and stay on the hotel grounds to offer a transparent level of expectations for our stay. We really trust the Riu brand of hotels and this Riu Yucatán could use some attention. The staff is what would bring us back. They work six days a week and are completely devoted to ensuring tourists and guests have a wonderful experience. With some small corrections this hotel would be aligned accurately with the Apple rating.

Sunbeds can be hard to find as well as space if your a
beach or pool person there are always people right on top of you. Gym could do with an update plus i got told off by the Spa lady for "clanking the weights" ffs dont put the spa on top of the gym then. Majority of the staff friendly and helpfull. Would recomend the
Great hotel and beautiful beach
Second timein this hotel and we felt like home (we spent first holiday in January 2016 and we decided to go back ).We totally enjoyed our second visit at this hotel and I would like to bring special thanks to Karen and Polo ,from the front desk(reception) for all the help and guidance we got from them, and the rest of the staff of the hotel including the housekeeper who did a great job,and do not forget the bar staff and the waitresses working hard to keep all customers happy.i would like to mention about the improvement which they done it about free wi-fi being available even on the beach and even in some rooms close to the lobby bar or pool.Highly recommended for couples or family's .
Stayed at the Riu Yukatan from 3/1/18 to the 17/1/18 ,the service was excellent the room was lovely and the cleaners did an excellent job .the beach was beautiful ,the pool area was lovey and clean only one down side the pools were very cold Our Reps Richard and Jess were very helpful through out the holiday nothing was to much trouble .Food was amazing and would highly recommend the Chinese restaurant .All in all a brilliant holiday .The monkeys were very vocal but lovely to watch
My Fiance and I Just returned from a 7 day vacation at the Riu Yucatan. The whole trip was excellent! Check-in was very easy and quick. Our room was situated in building 3 and we had very close access to the lobby and the pools/beach. Room was in good condition and house keeping was always up to standards. The grounds are kept very clean and manicured. The beach is breath-taking and that is where we spent majority of our time. Lots of daily activities and fun things too do. This resort is more of a family/older-crowd, not ideal for young couples. Food was amazing with a lot of variety. We did not eat at the A La Carts but did travel to 5th ave for some authentic cuisine. The gentlemen on the beach do hassle you to buy their jewelry as well as substances but will retreat if you say "no thank you". Excellent vacation would highly recommend!
Yuck-a-tan - hotel rooms very very tired
hotel is need of a major reno if it wants to keep 5 star... not even a 4 in my books. dated room, pilled sheets, flat pillows (only 3 on a king bed), sewer smell in room (came and went), worst margarita - thank goodness for senor frogs down the beach. great staff though
