Flamingo resort is very nice
The room we had was excellent, so were the people serving us. The food and drink is good. Gorgeous beach.
Great beach stay & resort
Resort was clean and neat. Food was good. Family room was very good. Very good location for shopping restaurants and transportation. Dance dive show at flamingo resort main pool. Beach has red flags, rought sruff. Swam North Playa Isla of Mujeres and snorkeling from catamaran...
Great place to stay!
Flamingo hotel is a great place to stay with family or alone. It is perfect if you are looking for something reasonably priced. The beach is right outside your door. the rooms are very clean. The people are wonderful and very honest to work with. Its across the streeet from the mall and doors away from Tacun Resturant (excellent food ). The beach is clean and even the rooms that overlooks the bay and streets ( which is what we had) are very quiet at night. A/C was great and we will be back. Terrific place to stay for all ages.
not a relaxing place to stay
Our room wasn't ready so they gave us an upgrade with a king size bed and told us they'd bring us an extra bed, but never did. We asked for an ash tray, never got one. Only one bar at night to drink at and it sucked. Food were all sides no real main corse. The restaurant you had to make a reservation at food was good either. Little bugs infested out room. Shower head was like a pressure washer and hurt when it hit you skin. People would bother you on the beach constantly to buy CRAP off them and never took no for an answer. Maybe 3 of the staff members we actually a pleasure. Head lady kept bugging us to sit in a meeting for a free massage, WE ARE ON VACATION, LEAVE US ALONE WE ARE TRYING TO RELAX NOT GO SIT AND LISTEN TO CRAP! Even the lady with you guys who met us at the airport was trying to get use to go check out a resort and if we did we'd get money towards something. Its really annoying! I'll never go back to Cancun, not relaxing at all!
It was a great place to stay. I loved it so much that I was crying to the people who worked there because I didn't want to leave. It was a great place to stay and will definitely tell my friends and family to stay here.
The hotel was a rating of 2 in another vacation booklet by Apple the one I used stated it a 4 apple..
If Flamingo is 4 star I would hate to see a 2 or 3 star hotel.
We had never done all inclusive before, it was a big disappointment. Everything was self serve. No pool or beach service. No service getting food or drinks. Up to you to get your food, buffet very repetitive and all had the same complaint "food was never hot and barely warm" The "all inclusive drinks" were so below standard you might as well not be drinking. They stated 3 pm check in and it was past 430 to get a room and then it was double beds and not the King requested. Everyday we noticed luggage in the lobby while others waited for rooms. It would be after 5 pm and they were still waiting. Finally to be able to relax and enjoy our vacation we went out every evening for drinks, dinner and entertainment. Our hotel only had one "show" the Friday night we arrived and we happened to stumble upon it. Nowhere was the entertainment noted for us to join in. Besides the daily Bingo and pool banter the hotel had nothing else going on for it's customers. Maybe we just had higher expectations than we should have. We paid for all inclusive and ended up buying dinner and drinks each night away from the hotel. I picked it because it wasn't a high rise, thinking better service, less people. The dining room and food areas were too small which lead to smaller offerings and very repetitive. I told our apple representative that Flamingo is not a 4 star and should not be in Apple brochure as a 4 star. It is misleading.
We have no problems with Apple in handling our trip. They were with us all the way and got us transported as promised. It was just a wrong pick with hotel.
Flamingo Resort Cancun
The hotel was nice and clean. Maintenance was working daily to update and make changes to the hotel. The room was fine, although the beds and pillows were not comfortable. The maid staff was great and friendly. The food was pretty good at both the restaurant and the buffet. The bar was unsatisfactory. We could only choose certain drinks all bottom self alcohol and the bar service was poor and the bartenders were not friendly. Overall I was satisfied with the hotel especially for the price.
my 8 days at flamingo cancun hotel
My ocean front room was clean but no coffee maker or cooler,ac quit working got warm.Waited three hours for a room on checkin . They plant a mexican time share sales crew in the front lobby who try to hi-jack you the moment you arrive to check in,very unprofessionaland sneaky. The buffet is a very limited buffet which is a very below standard compared to most apple hotels,i have been to five apple hotels already in Mexico. The restaurant (buffet)waitstaff is very lazy . I had to bus my used plates many many times and was never offered water or drinks when i first sat down or waited 20 minutes even when the place only had maybe 10 customers .They will work fast though when their manager is present.Evenings forget it, managers arent there! The reservation restaurant only is dressed up buffet food. Beach is clean but there is not hardly any chairs to lay out, in fact there arent any . Pools are feezing . I cant beleive Apple even has this place for suggested business. It is old ,service is lousy, the food is very slim pickins and un-entertaining.It should be rated as a one red apple. Apple tour representative is never at this hotel for help !!!!! I could have paid an extra 150 dollars and been treated like royalty at a golden apple rating, bye bye Flaming Cancun !
Never ever goig again at this hotel
It was OK
Overall it was a pretty good experience. The food was usually good and the staff was also usually good. The whole hotel looks well maintained. The pools were very nice. The cons were - We arrived at 11am but they would not let us check in until exactly 3pm - even though I think our room was ready earlier. Many hotels well let you in earlier if it is ready. So we had to change into our suits in a bathroom and we were exhausted from an early flight. We went backa few times to check to see and they said "no not until 3" when we went back at 3 they went through a pile of cards to find our room was ready. Our room was noisy. A loud machine turned on and off constantly and it did not seem to be the air conditioner. That along with room by the street made it especially noisy. Also the maid would often not get there until 5pm or after to clean it - but they did clean it well.

A nice place to relax…
My wife and I, my daughter, her infant son and one of our daughter’s girlfriends went to Cancún January 11-18/18 and stayed at the Flamingo.
We arrived in the early evening and check in was fairly simple. We had booked two standard rooms and when we arrived, we upgraded one room to an oceanview room. It was no hassle but came with a small up charge, which was expected. Our daughter’s fourth floor standard room came with a king sized bed and our fifth floor ocean view room had two doubles, a coffeemaker (which we didn’t use) and a fridge with beer, water, and soft drinks replenished daily. The view was definitely worth it to us and we spent many mornings and evenings sitting on the balcony watching the sunrise and the waves crashing onto the beach. Both rooms came with a free safe which was easy to use. The beds were firm but comfortable enough. The pillows were too flat for my liking but the rest of the family thought they were fine. Just my personal preference. The bathroom in my daughter’s room was recently upgraded and had a nice shower but our bathroom was a little older and had a bath/shower combo. We did have an incident where our hot water in the shower suddenly stopped working but that was fixed quickly once we let the front desk know about it. My biggest gripe was the wifi card/key to the room. We had to have our cards reprogrammed many times during the week long stay. Our daughter’s cards were sometimes reset three or four times a day! We were told during the stay to keep our cellphone away from the card as this would render it useless. If only we’d known this beforehand. So my warning to all who read this is:
⚠️ Keep the room-card away from your phone! ⚠️
Please management, come up with a better way. I saw many guests getting their cards reset. It’s only a natural thing to keep one’s keys/cards and phone together.
There are two restaurants and a snack bar in the resort. The buffet restaurant is good; no one got sick. It does get a little repetitive though. The à la carte restaurant, The Albatross, is nice and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Dinner is by reservation and should be done at 7 am, either in person at the buffet restaurant or, and this is the easiest way, by calling 2624 from your room phone. Spots fill up quickly. It’s right on the beach and the view is beautiful.
There are two pools, a jacuzzi, and a kids pool. Beware though, the water is very cold. The ocean is warmer and much more fun. There are nice beach beds around the main pool, great to let your little ones to stretch out on. There are plenty of deck chairs too both around the pools and on the beach. It was strange to me (I’ve been to many Mexican resorts to know but this might seem like a first world problem) that there is no poolside bar service. We had to go to the bar ourselves instead of having wait staff taking drink orders for us. The music is weird zen-like. It kind of makes me think I’m in the Titanic movie. If you hear it, you’ll know what I mean. On our last day, a Thursday, at lunchtime there was a synchronized swimming show in the main pool. It was very well done. Sadly, for the most part, the entertainment is lacking. It is a quiet resort which is great if you want to relax and just forget about the real world. However, if you are in your 20s or 30s and like to party, this isn’t the place for you. There are the clubs like Coco Bongo nearby if that’s your thing. There is a kids’ club for the little ones too. There are some theme nights like Mexican night with a Mariachi band and a Yucatan night, but these aren’t well advertised and it was only by accident that we found out where these were in the hotel.
The staff are friendly and helpful. There are some that went out of their way that I’d like to mention: Jamie, Eduardo, and Ricardo at the poolside bar, Miguel and Miguel Angel at the buffet restaurant, and Adrian, Ismael, and Ignacio at the main bar. Perhaps the biggest thanks and commendation I can give is to Servideo in the buffet restaurant. He truly made us feel welcome. We introduced him to our grandson, Phillip, and ever since, anytime he passed us, he would chant “Filipe, Filipe, Filipe!” He made sure that our grandson had anything he needed to eat, even if it wasn’t out in the buffet. He is really an outstanding member of the wait staff and I hope that someone from management will reward him for his hard work. 🏆
The hotel is well located. There is a mall across the street along with a bank (where we took out pesos from the atm), a pharmacy, and a great store for all your souvenirs called Plaza La Fiesta. Best prices too but they are fixed. If you want to haggle, go into the mall and visit the shops in there. The bus stop for the city bus is right outside the hotel too. It costs 12 pesos per person, per trip. There is a small store inside the hotel for all your odds and ends too.
All in all, this is a nice hotel to stay in to relax. It’s good for young families or older ones who are tired of the party scene. If you are wanting to be constantly entertained, then maybe try somewhere else.
Remember to keep your room card away from your phone!!!
Bought the all inclusive and we regretted it so much. The food was horrible and it was more or less the same breakfast, lunch and dinner. It wasent better in the a la carte restaurant. It was served in something that reminded me of a school cafeteria. My room Key was recoded 5 times before i Got a brand new one, which needed to be recoded 1 time. The wifi didnt work in the rooms or in the middle of the hotel by the pool. The serving, valet and bellboy staff was trying their Best and were friendly, but the frontdesk staff werent very welcoming or helpful. Paid extra for the seaview just to see the couple after us get upgraded for free.
Average for the price we paid
The hotel wasn’t very helpful. It has an excellent location and beautiful pools and restaurants. However, their ATM and spa were both broken. We tried to book a chichen itza tour through the hotel and they ripped us off trying to charge their paying guests 90 USD as a “discounted rate”. We walked down the road to a travel agency and they offered the same VIP deal for 55 USD. I couldn’t believe they tried to rip off their hotel guests like that just so they could get an extra commission. It’s a horrible experience.
They charged my credit card for 3 nights mistakenly when they should’ve charged for 4 so made me go down again and re charge my card which they then charged in pesos instead of USD. An inconvenience for me with no compensation even offered. The food at the restaurants is expensive except for the snack bar which has reasonably priced cheeseburgers and hot dogs. The rooms are nice.
we have been there three time all ready an we are going back again this year, small hotel very clean, food is excellent, the beach is very nice, quiet no disco if you want to relax it is the place to go,the bus wright in front of the hotel, real easy to go everywhere around by yourself
Dishonest hotel payment policies
Like other reviews for Flamingo Cancun, there were significant issues with actually reserving the hotel. Despite sending payment information with my initial booking, Flamingo Cancun refused to confirm my booking.
Given the bad reviews here, and that I was not going to risk my trip on a missing booking, I decided to cancel my reservation. At this point they had already charged a deposit for the reservation. They however, claimed a 100% refund policy before a certain date, and that the deposit will be refunded.
Needless to say, despite cancelling well before the 100% refund date, they refused to refund the significant deposit. Calling the hotel, which is difficult enough to get someone who spoke English, merely gets one redirected to a "reservation desk" number which seems to be separate from the hotel itself. The service from both were terrible and no resolution was forthcoming. With this, I am forced to seek other avenues to get my deposit money back.
Do not deal with this sketchy and dishonest hotel, and book at your own peril.
