Awesome place to stay!
Great place on the beach! Would love to stay again!
The only con about this hotel was the bugs in the room. I saw about 5 total, but the staff came right always to kill the bugs for me! The entertainment staff was amazing!
A few suggestions and comments on a great experience!
It would be appreciated if the 'no smoking' signs were enforced. Loved the resort and staff were over the top nice to us, every person we made contact with was great. Wish the pool and hot tub would have the option to be open later. I don't want to use the hot tub in the day time but it was closed at night when it was cool enough to get in! I would highly recommend this resort and look forward to coming back.
Everything is fabulous when you go somewhere that is familiar, you are treated with kindness and everyone works to make your stay wonderful! The staff is friendly and take care of everyting. The resort is clean, comfortable, not too big to get lost or overwhelmed. Having to pay for wifi would be my only critique!
Good not great!
I loved a lot of things about this hotel! Service and food left something to be desired. The people were nice and friendly. Entertainment was great! Hotel was clean and beaches were lovely. Excursions were easy to schedule. Room was cleaned well each day. Getting beach towels and renting snorkel gear was irritating as you had to have a card or some such nonsense. Could only get snorkel gear 30 minutes at a time... Weird... Overall the good definitely outweighed the bad. I had a great time and drank the best strawberry daiquiri I've ever had. Lifeguards were very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Wait staff was always on top of things and were very friendly.
We have stayed at this hotel several times while in Jamaica. It is our favorite. Small enough you don't have crowds to deal with and every room has a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff is always very courteous and the hotel is maintained very well. This is one of the oldest resorts on the island and is so close to the airport it takes just minutes to get their upon landing. Always greeted with a smile and a drink. Would recommend this to any one wanting a quiet, restful vacation.
Hotel needs new beds and pillows. Pillows are hard as rocks. Food is good, had to wait additional time for restaurants to open.
The place, people, and amenities are always consistent. You can depend on the service, the food, and the friendly nature of the staff.
Great hotel for the price, we would go back in a heartbeat.
If you are looking for a great place to relax, this is it. If you are looking to do it in the lap of luxury it isn't. Don't get me wrong, it was nice and the service and food were great, but it was not five star. We loved that it was a five minute ride from the airport. The public areas were nicer than the rooms, but everything was slightly dated. The beds and pillows left a lot to be desired but the air conditioner was great. The bartenders and entertainment staff were super friendly and always willing to help. Drinks were local well brands and Red Stripe beer. other guests were laid back and just looking for a good time, not trying to impress. Make reservations every morning for the Jamaican fusion restaurant for dinner. It is awesome and the way to go for dinner, especially the steak and mashed potatoes. The buffet was great for breakfast, made to order omelets, waffles, and French toast and much more. Lunch was good, and dinner was ok. The snack bar was very good, but I wish the hours were longer. The bread everywhere was wonderful. The pools were small, but there was always more than enough chairs to go around. Same for the beach, no fighting over chairs like at some other all inclusives I've been to. It's nice that the hotel is on the hip strip, but if you go out be prepared to be hounded right away and for the entire time. They have nightly buses to and from Margaritaville and Pier One if that's your thing. Looking forward to going back.
Good service overall...
I talk to the Apple Vacations rep at the hotel every time I go to Royal Decameron, but I never get the information under my door the day before, for shuttle pick-up time to return to the airport. And, the shuttle never comes, so we have to get the concierge at the hotel to call a taxi to take us to the airport.
From the moment we arrived the customer service was OUTSTANDING!. We were very pleased with the facilities, the staff, the island on a whole. It was the best vacation I ever had and we are already planning our next trip to the same place. We were a little apprehensive given some horror stories we had heard, but were very pleased when we arrived!
TripAdvisor Traveller Reviews
My husband and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary here this year. Each year we celebrate someplace we've never gone and each year we leave feeling like we had the best time ever ... until this year!! This vacation was so terrible that my husband and I decided to fly home early!! Yes, that's what I said, we ended our vacation early to go back home. the young lady who checked us in (Showayne Johnson) was unbelievably rude. I asked her questions regarding things she should have mentioned while checking us in (breakfast hours, WiFi, transportation) and she was obviously bothered by the questions. She even lied about a manager not being on duty. The first room we checked into was disgusting! Everything you could think wrong was present: hair in bed, floors dirty, smell of mold in bathroom, unidentifiable location of standing water on floor. The food quality was terrible and because all of the food halls are located outdoors, flies were everywhere. There was nothing in place to cover the food which left it completely exposed to flies. No one seemed to care that they were landing all over the food. Another issue was the yellow caution tape that ran from the start of the second pier to the end of the property. Very ridiculous!
The only thing going for this place is the beautiful scenery. The view is amazing and the blue water is breathtaking. Most of the staff was indifferent or just plain rude! All but a few.... Dave, Leon Poiteir, and Andrei... thank you!! All three of these gentlemen stood out.
I would not recommend this properly to anyone !
My Birthday treats
After travelling in a rush last year, my hubby would like me to choose a "sit back & relax" trip as my Birthday present. There were quite a lot to choose, however, while I was browsing on my choices, the "All Inclusive vacation" caught my eyes on the above Resort. I've read the review about the resort prior to make reservation, comments were half and half...as a frequent traveller, I would just take that as an advice, and have to be more generous and happy to go, your happiness will affect everyone!!
Most staff are really trying hard to provide their best customer services, especially thanks to Tamara-who always had a great smile on her face, Adrian, who sand the Happy Birthday song to me right away when he knew that day's my BD, which made my day, Ryan-who made a special fruit platter treats for my Birthday and the beautiful girl on front desk-Remeena and Jo-Ann, who really accommodated our needs for extending check out an hour so that we could have enough time to bring luggage after we have our lunch.
Last but not least, have to thank for our Air Transat lady-Ann Maria, she's professional and dual-diligent to customers :)
Freedom 55 !!!
Well. I had a wonderful time, the food was great. the staff was amazing and the weather was perfect with outstanding sunsets. just enough rain to cool the air occasionally. I had to pay to rent a fridge.( a first for me. and I travel frequently. not cool). Make sure when booking this resort. ask for the Cornwall is the new side. this side has fridges and other amenities you don t get on the old side The older side is still very nice. six feet from the water. I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. The location is perfect. close to the airport, shopping and on the beach. Freedom 55.
Average hotel, great beach
This resort is good but depends what you are looking for. If you are a picky person, probably not the resort for you. We booked through Air Transat, and our rep, Annemarie, was absolutely amazing.
- awesome beach - while small, it's pretty private
- only went to Cornwall Decameron beach once- can use beach there just not facilities, also a nice beach
- water is incredible and clean
- great location: close to 'hip strip' and 20 min walk to downtown Montego Bay
- free shuttle to Pier One and Margaritaville - ask front desk for days it goes
- both 'a- la carte' is excellent - liked it more than buffet
- buffet is alright
- ocean view is great from balcony; spectacular sunsets
- liked the hammock's at the resort - nice feature
- Lobby bartenders are amazing: Mr. Gray and Mark were awesome
- 10 minute drive from airport
- authentic experience
- rooms are really outdated and unclean
- need to update them and cleaning needs to be better
- buffet is ok - but wish there was more Jamaican cuisine
- breakfast options were limited
Just know it is 3 star and if you are picky or like extreme cleanliness and lots of amenities, this is not the resort for you. The safe is $2/day - reasonable.
40th Wedding Anniversary
Sorry but our staying in this resort was very unpleasant. The resort is very old and it needs a lot of maintenance. Our mattress were old and stain. There were a couple of shower curtains hooks missing. The Buffett wasn't great also.
