Awesome place to stay!
Great place on the beach! Would love to stay again!
The only con about this hotel was the bugs in the room. I saw about 5 total, but the staff came right always to kill the bugs for me! The entertainment staff was amazing!
A few suggestions and comments on a great experience!
It would be appreciated if the 'no smoking' signs were enforced. Loved the resort and staff were over the top nice to us, every person we made contact with was great. Wish the pool and hot tub would have the option to be open later. I don't want to use the hot tub in the day time but it was closed at night when it was cool enough to get in! I would highly recommend this resort and look forward to coming back.
Everything is fabulous when you go somewhere that is familiar, you are treated with kindness and everyone works to make your stay wonderful! The staff is friendly and take care of everyting. The resort is clean, comfortable, not too big to get lost or overwhelmed. Having to pay for wifi would be my only critique!
Good not great!
I loved a lot of things about this hotel! Service and food left something to be desired. The people were nice and friendly. Entertainment was great! Hotel was clean and beaches were lovely. Excursions were easy to schedule. Room was cleaned well each day. Getting beach towels and renting snorkel gear was irritating as you had to have a card or some such nonsense. Could only get snorkel gear 30 minutes at a time... Weird... Overall the good definitely outweighed the bad. I had a great time and drank the best strawberry daiquiri I've ever had. Lifeguards were very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Wait staff was always on top of things and were very friendly.
We have stayed at this hotel several times while in Jamaica. It is our favorite. Small enough you don't have crowds to deal with and every room has a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff is always very courteous and the hotel is maintained very well. This is one of the oldest resorts on the island and is so close to the airport it takes just minutes to get their upon landing. Always greeted with a smile and a drink. Would recommend this to any one wanting a quiet, restful vacation.
Hotel needs new beds and pillows. Pillows are hard as rocks. Food is good, had to wait additional time for restaurants to open.
The place, people, and amenities are always consistent. You can depend on the service, the food, and the friendly nature of the staff.
Great hotel for the price, we would go back in a heartbeat.
If you are looking for a great place to relax, this is it. If you are looking to do it in the lap of luxury it isn't. Don't get me wrong, it was nice and the service and food were great, but it was not five star. We loved that it was a five minute ride from the airport. The public areas were nicer than the rooms, but everything was slightly dated. The beds and pillows left a lot to be desired but the air conditioner was great. The bartenders and entertainment staff were super friendly and always willing to help. Drinks were local well brands and Red Stripe beer. other guests were laid back and just looking for a good time, not trying to impress. Make reservations every morning for the Jamaican fusion restaurant for dinner. It is awesome and the way to go for dinner, especially the steak and mashed potatoes. The buffet was great for breakfast, made to order omelets, waffles, and French toast and much more. Lunch was good, and dinner was ok. The snack bar was very good, but I wish the hours were longer. The bread everywhere was wonderful. The pools were small, but there was always more than enough chairs to go around. Same for the beach, no fighting over chairs like at some other all inclusives I've been to. It's nice that the hotel is on the hip strip, but if you go out be prepared to be hounded right away and for the entire time. They have nightly buses to and from Margaritaville and Pier One if that's your thing. Looking forward to going back.
Good service overall...
I talk to the Apple Vacations rep at the hotel every time I go to Royal Decameron, but I never get the information under my door the day before, for shuttle pick-up time to return to the airport. And, the shuttle never comes, so we have to get the concierge at the hotel to call a taxi to take us to the airport.
From the moment we arrived the customer service was OUTSTANDING!. We were very pleased with the facilities, the staff, the island on a whole. It was the best vacation I ever had and we are already planning our next trip to the same place. We were a little apprehensive given some horror stories we had heard, but were very pleased when we arrived!

If Ryanair had an All Inclusive...
Having stayed at the Royal Decameron Cornwall last year, I was looking forward to staying at its counterpart RD Montego Beach. Iâm not a big fan of writing negative reviews and I ignore the âand this and this this and this was wrongâ type of reviews, but I do think people shouldnât be surprised. To be fair, if Iâd read the Trip Advisor reviews I might have chosen something different, however my expectation was a similar experience to the RD Cornwall - it was not.
At the RD Cornwall, you have full use of both hotels. We were informed at checking that that is not the case with guests at RD Montego. The room was not ready when we arrived, but the rum punches were! And we were put in the penthouse - some minor glitches, dirty patio and no hot water were put right the next day.
The beach is lovely and the location in Monday is fantastic!
The food is good with a nice variety. Six months later, they still have not sorted out their âfine diningâ restaurant. Again, the food was no where close to where it should be and we retreated to the buffet as the meal was not edible.
The wine was undrinkable. If youâve ever had a bottle of wine that has sat in the rack for a couple years too long or has been exposed to too high a temperature and itâs gone off, youâll know what I mean. The light golden colour of a chard, Pinot Grigio or Sauv Blanc darkens to almost a caramel colour and the fresh scent sours to hints of vinegar. The wine being served had gone off and unfortunately the staff didnât realise or simply didnât care. The bartenders response was, âNobody likes this wine.â And looking around the restaurants, anyone with a glass of white left it unfinished. I can understand receiving a bad batch from a distributor, but to fob it off on your guests is the worst of bad practice.
Combine that with a $2 per day charge for a fridge, $20 per day WiFi charge and some very unhappy staff members made for an experience we wonât repeat.
Captain Poly is very knowledgeable, definitely made us feel comfortable and I would recommend to anybody visiting Jamacia. He also save us the opportunity to feed tropical fish by hand! Not to mention the glass-bottom boat is extremely clean! Anybody visiting MUST visit Captain Poly.
Very good vacation overall despite some negative comments on tripadvisor.
Location is perfect as it is a good combination of city so close and beach right near you.
Rooms are not very modern but clean. This never stopped me as I am travelling for the ocean and experience and not so much for the room itself. This hotel has a unique face very caribbean and this is nice about it.
For me the main attraction is the beach and swimming and both of these are perfect here. Personnel is all friendly and they managed to learn your names and talk to you. I am a white person but never saw any difference of treating me. I did give tips but that is expected as people are working for minimum wage here.
Food is also good in buffet and also in a la carte. The variety was good enough for me.
It is always fresh and service at the buffet is good too.
The nice touch is an live music at 6 pm and at 8 pm.
The entertainment is good for such small size hotel.
The other good point - you can cross a street and go shopping. Vendors are annoying but you just need to say thank you and ignore them.
You can get cheaper internet access just across the street for $15. So it is no need to pay high hotel price for it. Bars are all good and drinks are stronger than they are normally at the caribbean.
They are always some activities at the beach or lobby.
The other thing - the nearby Cornwell hotel is not as good as this one but more expensive and I honestly do not know the reason for it. May be rooms are more new but I do not care about it as I already mentioned.
This is my third time in jamaica and so far the best experience. I stayed at Bahia before and Sand Splash hotels. The beach and swimming there is not even comparable.
You can find anything in this hotel by follow signs. I do not know of that was so confusing for other people.
I used sauna quite few time this week during he rain time.
I understand now of why other people call this hotel as home away from home.
My special thank you for the animation team - Kevin, T.J., Prince, and Danusha for making our experience wonderful.
Many thanks for live band playing at the lobby. It brings nice touch to the experience.
Great hotel, great people, great food
I was just with my family at the resort from April 29 to May 6 and loved every second of my stay there. The staff there is super friendly and nice, especially the guys that take care of every day activities and entertainment. The food was very high quality with a reasonably high variety to choose from. The beach was nice although the Cornwall beach is nicer(hotel right beside) and I reccomend using that beach instead. Overall I loved my stay there and would come back in a heartbeat.
Wow where do I begin, firstly I would like to say the staff and the hotel itself is incredible, most amazing holiday I have been on so far, Jamaica for me is breathtaking, never been before we are currently on honeymoon and already thinking about bringing the children back to this most amazing place, I am a massive fuss pot about food, and when I say I eat breakfast lunch and dinner it is amazing the food is incredible, WARNING be prepared to put on weight lol,
They clean your room daily, clean towels etc, no kettle in the room but u have tea and coffee whenever u like in reception day/night
only thing I would suggest is when pouring your milk into your coffee/tea just check to see if itâs not curdled with the heat it turns very quickly,
The beach is amazing clear blue sea and white sand a lot of little fish in the sea but there fine,
It is safe going out of your resort but if u do decide to wonder down and see the sights stay on the right hand side as to ur left u will have locals approach u to come look in there shops but there is a little mini market place down a little alley, I felt very uneasy about going down here but be careful as they insist on putting jewellery and items from there shop on you and then take your money we were there 5 mins and cost us 50 dollars on 2 necklaces and 2 bracelets which are in fact for sale in your onsite shop much much cheaper, just a friendly warning there
Timing for lunch and dinner, there never on time but after seeing and eating there amazing food it wonât even bother you,
Overall the service in this hotel is probably the best service by far, iv been to a few holiday resorts but this one is perfect for me and my husband we definitely will be returning, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about Jamaica for a beautiful holiday destination,
Dunnâs river waterfall is a must do, breathtaking feel very accomplished when getting to the top,
We have a couple more excursions to do for the ramaining part of our honeymoon,
I rate this hotel 5* in my opinion, you want to chill out this is the place to come just amazing.
Any questions just ask Iâll happily answer them.
