Apple Vacations Traveller Reviews
the hotel and staff were great. No issues getting to and from by walking or Train. Beach had no issues getting a chair, but the loose seaweed was everywhere. Pool was large and clean, but too deep in most places 4.75 feet average. could not get from swim up bar with drink. Was looking forward to the teen club, but it was closed. No Arcade. grounds were beautifully maintained. Food was good at all restaurants and buffet.
June 2017 Visit - Please read before you book
This hotel was a complete let down from the ratings. you can't get anywhere without a golf cart ride or on the train that goes by. Nothing is easily accessible. The Apple Representative at the Hotel - Alex was the rudest person i ever dealt with. It is a shame that he even wears a badge representating a company like Apple. His customer service skills definitely need to be refined. Very difficult to get the room consistently cleaned with towels daily. I was very disappointed in the hotel. The pool and the beach along with the weather were absolutely the best. I would not go back to this resort, you can't get anywhere without usinga golf cart that they drive around.
Melia Caribe Tropical is an excellent resort hotel. From the beginning to the end of my vacation I received nothing but excellent service!
Everything was so nice, Staff so friendly and nice. Would absolutely recommend this place. I just had two things I wasn't happy with. Could not get washcloths and no one came to clean our room the last day. We had no clean towels. We spoke with other families when leaving, and those were the only complaints they had also. Loved the trip.
Very Nice Grounds but food/service lacking
Grounds were very nice and well keep. Unfortunately the food quality was subpar and lack of service at pools and beach was frustrating and allowed the plastic cups to become garbage. After complaining the service and pool/beach was much better but the food quality was still only average. Spend the extra for the Level or better yet go the Hard Rock (which is more) where the food and service will exceed expectations
Took to long to check in
Beautiful grounds and room. Service unsatisfactory
Our room and the general appearance of the hotel was excellent. However it was very disappointing the lack of service from the wait staff and the quality of the food at the buffets. The wait staff was unresponsive and acted like we were bothering them when we asked for a beverage. At one point my wife and I had gotten our food from the buffet and proceeded to complete our lunch and not one waiter came to see if we wanted anything including water. Also the food was cold everyday. The food in the Italian restaurant was much better however the wait staff wasn't any better.
a GREAT time!
The hotel upgraded us to a room by the beach for our 25th wedding anniversary which was so nice of them. Loved that there were golf carts to take us up to the main lobby all the time. Even if none available, it's only a 10 minute walk and it's a very pretty walk. The place is beautifully landscaped. The beach was plenty big enough to accommodate all of the guests. A great little artesian market about 1/4 mile down the beach with anything you wanted to buy for souveniers....jewelry, shirts, hats, sunglasses, pottery, paintings, rum, chocolate, cigars just to name a few. Very friendly people at the market and hotel as well. Love the excursion to Catalina Island. Scuba people were very nice and I felt very safe snorkeling while my husband dove. Meal on Catalina was fabulous! Bring extra money so you can buy the lobster to be grilled for you at the meal. Just a wonderful experience in the Dominican!
The Apple/AmStar representatives don't communicate with each other. When my wife was injured the representative arranged for a special transport to the airport but never let the representative at the hotel know. It took a day and a half to get that straitened out. Although it a rarity, you should have transportation to and from the local medical facility. Our stressful event was only compounded by having to figure out how to get to and from the those facilities.
First time at Melia in Punta Cana
The Apple rating is not accurate on the Melia. The staff lost my daughters pants that contain her medicine. They were not very helpful in finding the pants. It cost my daughter $46 to have a brew prescription filled. The food was average compared to other resorts that we have stayed at in the past. The best food overall was the lobster and steak that cost us $39 dollars each. We had to call twice to have her luggage picked up on the day we were leaving. We held the bus up 30 minutes because of this and the slow check out process. Overall, this was an average resort and needs improvements in food quality and entertainment activities.
We arrived at our hotel before 1:00pm. Nobody told us our room is not ready until 3:00 and we were told to be in line for check in. After waiting in line for 30 minutes, we were told our room won't be ready until 3:00. We asked if we can go to lunch. They said yes. Then we came back around 2:45. The room was not ready until 3:45. They sent us to our room without giving us keys or any other information. During our stay, it is impossible to reach the apple vacation representative, we didn't know the pick up time for our airport ride. We could not find the rep before our last day or on our last day. The hotel found a different apple rep who hung up on us. We had to take a taxi to the airport. We stayed in the family suit and was told there are children amenities but none.

We came during Hurricane Season and ended up leaving after a few days due to Hurricane Maria. During our time here we enjoyed both pool areas and the beach. The pools have plenty of areas for kids. We did the all-inclusive and enjoyed delicious meals. And we had a large, 1 bedroom suite in the Club Melia villa. Very bummed that we have to leave early.
Hurricane blew away crouds
We visited Melia during hurricane Irma so my experience is probably a lot different from others due to low census. The hotel and staff were so wonderful however I still felt the need to write a review. Hurricane Irma passed the second day we were there and had almost no impact on our trip. Except the resort would not provide alcohol the entire day of the hurricane and we were in a shelter for 12 hours(the hotel's convention center) while the hurricane passed Punta Cana. While the day of the hurricane was not enjoyable I felt that the hotel did a fantastic job handling the situation and making guests as comfortable as possible.
Overall I really enjoyed the stay. Our room was gorgeous, the grounds we're beautiful, and the staff was extremely accommodating. Check-in and check-out only took a few minutes. The resort is massive, but there are shuttles to help people get around the resort. We walked everywhere and didn't have an issue with the distance though I know many people would. I got my 10,000 steps everyday no problem.
Staff was extremely nice and accommodating, however most of the staff do not speak very good English. There were times when communication could be an issue but for the most part you can get by. We would tip a couple dollars for pretty much any service we received and in turn we were treated like celebrities whenever we went to dinner or the bar. I definitely recommend tipping even a dollar it is clear it means a lot to them. I would also really recommend learning some basic Spanish it is extremely helpful.
The food was very good but one of the reasons that I did not give a five star review is because over half the al a carte options were closed for remodel which was never explained to us. We only discovered this while we were looking for somewhere to eat dinner. So we only had three choices other than buffet for dinner. The food was good at each and we did not need to make reservations which was probably due to such a low census.
Overall we had a great experience hurricane and all. I have already recommended this resort to my friends.
Amazing vacations! 😍
I went on vacation with my baby and it was the best experience i could ever had. The service was great the people the food in the restaurants was delicious and the beach was pretty impresive, we recommend this resort for sure!!!
Great time on our honeymoon, loved the hotel and excursions. On our first day we went horse back riding and to the blue hole lagoon and the second excursion we swam with sting rays and sharks. The resort was. Dry cleaned and we recieved great service. The beach area was clean and the water was clear and beautiful.
Do not waste your money
Stayed hear for one night after staying at the Hard Rock for 3 nights. You definitely can see the difference in the attention to detail, the overall lack of care and friendliness by all of the staff, quality of food as well as size of rooms and decor were piss poor in comparison. Will definitely not stay here again.
