Beautiful Resort Little to no English Spoken
Resort was Beautiful. Be prepared for little to know English being spoken. Front Desk did know English however that was about it. We did manage through the week. BE careful what you eat. Meat is undercooked and not kept hot leaving food contaminated. Flies were not noticeable at first but by day 3 we did notice the flies. We did also see mice running outside the buffet. With all that food, I can understand. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, drink the water, not even rinse your toothbrush. They do not treat it. Be careful even if you cut your leg and take shower. Bacteria can enter your body. I was fine all week until the last day. I came down with terrible cramping and uncontrolable bowel movements every 45 minutes for 3 days straight. No sleep and was miserable. Went to Dr. and was placed on strong antiobiotic. They blamed food contamination. Not sure I will go back.
Grand Palladium Palace & Resort
The resort was very clean. I don't have any complaints on the food, but the earlier you get to the buffets, the better. The pools were beautiful & clean. The drinks were great! The room was always clean, the maids were always on top of making sure you had fresh towels. Only recommendation, has to do with how the place was constructed. The showers, Leak everywhere. We had to create a wall of towels around the shower/bath in order to not get our entire room flooded. Also, the doors to the rooms slam, very loudly. Which makes it difficult to sleep past 8am. The beach was also beautiful, I saw reviews before going of people complaining about the sea weed- there was some sea weed. But it's because of the side of the island the resort is located on, and they do try to keep it maintained. The language barrier was frustrating after a couple of days, very few people spoke fluent English. Ordering at the sit-down restaurants and asking specific questions was very difficult. Overall I would recommend this resort; giving it 4/5 stars overall.
Weekend get away
Overall the place was beautiful, food was good.. the only issue I had was I booked for two inbeds, instead I got one king bed and sdifa. Ed that was hard plastic!!!!! Also, it was hard to get help from the staff unless I went back to

This was our first experience booking with Apple Vacations and we were very pleased! There were apple representatives to greet us at our departing and arriving airport as well as at our resort to give us details about Punta Cana and excursion options. Grand Palladium was an excellent resort! We went as a couple, but this might be a resort you would pick to go with family or friends. There weren't too many people who were there just as couples. This isn't something that bothered us, but if it is something that would bother you then you may want to look into a different resort. The buffet's offered good quality food and had many different varieties. My boyfriend is very picky and he was very satisfied with the food options. If you want to eat at a restaurant be sure to get there early as they fill up quick! Make reservations for the japanese restaurant the day you arrive at the resort if you plan on eating there. We were disappointed when we were not able to make a reservation because it books up so quick and we had no idea. One complain I have is about the maid service. We wen't out for dinner one night and when we returned to our room at about 9:30 the room to our door was open. There was a maid inside of our room cleaning. To me this was definitely not ok since there was already a maid in our room earlier in the day to clean our room. I was a little thrown off by this. Also a few times in the morning a maid would knock on our door, barely gave us enough time to wake up, and would just walk in. After that we kept the top lock on our door so that wouldn't happen again. The maids should just be more courteous of people's privacy. The hotel staff and bar staff were excellent and very friendly, especially inside the sports bar. This resort is huge, so definitely plan some time to explore the resort and see all the different options they have to offer. We got lucky because our room was very close to one of the many pools as well as the beach. If you are looking for a fun place to stay that offers good food, excellent service, and a lot to do I would recommend staying here!
We had a roll a way bed in our room all week after asking 3 times to have it removed. Three of our four rooms had showers that leaked into the room. Phones that didn't work. Restaraunt reservations weee horrible, it was an all week thing. My husband couldn't wear a tank top to the buffet but I seen a woman in a thong with a see through cover up.
Was late in the afternoon before room was cleaned, 2 times did mot receive wash cloths and one night did not have top sheet on bed.
The property is beautiful, there was some construction going on but I appreciate the improvement. The Apple reps were great. The resort is big, that was good for our group. Plenty of room to explore and we were able to get rides most of the time. The rooms are nice, shower is poorly designed as I've read many say, but it was just an inconvenience, nothing major. Service can be spotty in the buffets but very good in the restaurants. It gets better after a few days when we became more familiar faces. We enjoyed the buffets with many things to choose from. The Steakhouse was our favorite restaurant. The beach is beautiful, clean white sand, clear blue water, the best I've seen. Overall a great trip, relaxing, no major problems to report, we would definitely go back!
Upon check in..the manager on duty wouldn't listen to me and I was trying to ask if an upgrade was available and what the price would be. There were 9 of us in our party and we arrived early so they weren't busy. As one of the rooms were not close to others we did ask for room change and a young lady did take care of that. But upgrade wasn't offered nor was I able to ask. He just wanted to hurry us off. The rooms were all good and we were please with the locations. However, I asked for specifics for my minifridge and even left a note in spanish to have only coca light, cerveza and agua. For 2 days still did not get my request. We finally caught the drink boy and explained to him what we wanted and he complied. However it was not on a daily basis. I was lucky if I even got one soda. Had to take from our other party's rooms. Rediculous for a simple request and I left him a tip which he gladly took on more than one occasion. Most of the staff is not friendly. We travel many times to resorts and I was appalled at how lax the staff is here. Pool service was horrible. No enthusiasm at all. We ordered from pool server (pina colada) not sure what we were given but def not a pina colada. No smiles just mopey all day. The bar staff was ok just depended on who was there. Ramon took care of us several times and was always friendly. The beach bar staff was the same. Just there no enthusiasm at all. The only place we ever felt wanted was the buffet..Nico was our morning waiter and he was always friendly and nice and so Mulena(Brazilian). The Brazilian steak house bar was amazing. Kelvin was exceptional. He went above and beyond for us so we went to see him every evening just to have some friendly service and drinks that were consistent. Mervyn, Freddie and Paul in Japanese restaurant were outstanding. They made us feel so welcomed and appreciated to be there. We loved being around them. They had wonderful personalities and always smiling. The rest of the staff could take notes from Kelvin, Paul Freddie and Mervyn. The mexican restaurant was very good. Horrible experience at the Italian. Service was extremely horrible as was the food. We ended up leaving. Couldn't eat the food. Couldn't even get our water filled. Upon leaving the blame was on the kitchen staff. No way was that the case other than the food be inedible. We took 7 people on this vacation that had never been to an all inclusive resort. Sad to say they may never go again due to the lack of service and bad food
Will not return!
We went as a group of 11 and from the very start the service was terrible. Starting from the airlines who lost one luggage and broke another. The transfer from the airport to the hotel was ridiculously long. We waited 2 hours on the bus. The resort was clean, beautiful and big which was great. The employees were not very friendly and at times very rude. The restaurant reservations was a joke, on average 1 hour wait. We even had a wait to get into a buffet. The beds were terrible, hard as a rock. The bathroom was very strangely done. We had a family of 3 and it made showering and going to the bathroom complicated because of the glass wall. Also the inside of the shower didn't have a door so it remained as a pool. The food was mediocre compared to other resorts we've stayed at. The best part of the trip was the beach. Punta Cana has great beaches and we love it there but this resort missed the mark.
Amazing grounds (4 resorts in one). Amazing staff and food. Pools are abundant and there was always a chair available (however going early is best practice). My very first all inclusive and trip out of the states; I'd do it again tomorrow!

A lovely complex on the beach
Ideal for weddings. The accommodation is second to none. Very clean and well maintained.. Only down fall nothing much to do in the evenings. The entertainment was very limited. The bars seemed to play the same music endlessly. Not ideal if you are European. Good choice of restaurants and swimming pools. Staff very friendly,but beware everyone was after being tipped.
Things to aware off
Very nice Resort with a lot to do when visiting the other properties. There is always something going on at one or the other. very important information " It is not Accessible" no elevators, bathtubs and showers impossible for many with disabilities.
10th Anniversary Trip wish Food Allergies
My husband and I were married in Punta Cana 10 years ago and decided to return with our family and friends to celebrate our anniversary. There were 20 of us.
We now have two kids and decided to upgrade to a loft suite. We were in building 96. It is right across from the adult pool. We bought a cheap wifi video camera from Amazon and after the kids would to go sleep we would go hang out at the adult pool with our group for an hour or so. It was great to help us get some adult time and we could view the kids from our phones. The loft was overall very nice. The showers are weird and are a bathtub with a shower and leak all over the bathroom floor. We also had to wedge a towel by the glass and all around so it didnâ€™t leak. Minor but annoying. The maids were excellent and always left plenty of towels and put the kids blankets in cute shapes for them.
We mostly hung out at the Palace pool bar. William is the main bartender there and he is amazing! He saved chairs for our large group every morning. The drinks are delicious. William collects pins so bring him one! The
The food was better than I had expected. We typically ate at the beach buffet by the pool for lunch, but discovered the main buffet had a bit of a better selection, but continued to use the beach one as it was so convenient. We ate at the steakhouse, Bamboo (Asian fusion), the Japanese and the Italian. The Italian was my favourite and the pizza amazing. The guy who cooked them was fabulous. My daughter has a dairy and peanut allergy and the resort was pretty good at accommodating her needs. The language barrier was challenging but they give you cards that have the allergies on them. Honestly she is not anaphylactic so traces of dairy were not a big deal and I didnâ€™t worry a lot about cross contamination, but if she was anaphylactic Iâ€™m not sure how much I would have trusted the resort, or I would have asked more questions at least.
My children only utilized the kids club for one day, but overall enjoyed it. I wish they had more lol! The staff were super friendly.
The grounds are massive and the trains were helpful to get to the Bavaro side for meals. The Punta Cana area is very close. The smaller teams will take you directly where you need to go and the large ones go through the whole resort. Overall the staff were amazing and bent over backwards for us. The Dominican people are truly wonderful. The beach was amazing and always had plenty of chairs available.
My biggest compliant is the resort needs to do a better job sanitizing areas children touch, like high chairs and such. My 2 year old daughter came down with hand, foot and mouth disease. As most parents know, itâ€™s highly contagious and spreads like wildfire. It starts as a low fever and progresses to a blistery rash all over the body. Another member of our group also came down with the virus, but as an adult she got a much milder case. Luckily this was contracted the day before we came home and though inconvenient, we did not let it ruin our trip. But the resort does need to use bleach or disinfecting spray on high chairs and other areas as to stop the spread. We saw at least one other child with the virus.
Overall we had a fabulous trip. I would return to this resort in the future and Punta Cana is always an enjoyable vacation destination.
I love this resort and I stay here every year. The staff is amazing and always willing to help. I have even met some wonderful guests and kept in touch with them. I highly recommend this resort it is so big that you will always find some place to go and enjoy your vacation.
Wow ... just wow!!!!
What an incredible trip. Ok so the weather was not that great but everything else was for us. We have been to the Dominican multiple times and always loved the friendliness of the people there but this was outstanding. I'll say sorry for the long review now but there is plenty of tips in here if you are travelling to the DR.
We arrived late at night on Nov 11, 2017 - almost took a cab from the airport but our rep said why spend the money the resort is 20 minutes away and we are leaving now - hint saved us $25 - good start.
We pull up to a beautiful lobby and were greeted by Yolodani (Dani) - what an incredible first impression walking into this resort - he was, from the time we arrived, until our last day, just a fun person to be around. He brought us to our room, made sure we were very happy and asked if there was anything he could do for us. We walked the resort for a bit and then wanted to get something to eat so we decided to go to the sports bar (open 24hrs). We walk to the lobby and Dani pops up in front of us all smiles like he had known us for 20 years. What can I help you with?
He then took us to the sports bar -what a great place - food available 24 hours - different sports on all TV's - some game tables and all - the drinks were ice cold and the people who worked there are super friendly as well. Service was great - we went there several times across the week. Tell any of the bartenders what you like, including special drinks, and they will make it every time after that like they have done it for years.
Mornings brought us to the buffet just outside our room (we were in 9117) near one of the pools. Had an fantastic omelette and so many choices of fruit, buns, sweets etc and again incredibly friendly people. We had breakfast at both buffets throughout the week and it was always great - didn't matter where you went and there was plenty.
Mid day we were at the buffet to a whole new spread of food. We always found something whether it was something light or a full meal depending on how our day went. Drinks always cold and plenty - the attentiveness of the staff was outstanding.
Dinners were the creme da la creme and honestly we never ate at any of the ala carts. We had meals at 2 of the 3 resorts we were allowed to and again always great food.
However, there is one among the many, that in my humble opinion, was outstanding and should be commended for his above and beyond meals he created for my wife and I. His name is Nathaniel. On our second last night I was looking for something a little different and asked what he could make me at the pasta bar. He asked if I had a couple of extra minutes - he made me the BEST pasta meal I have ever had at any resort I have ever been at - I had to battle my wife to keep as much for myself as I could once she sampled what I was raving about. Our last night we were leaving at 7:10 - the buffet opened at 6:30 - bet you can guess who were one of the first couples in line. Could he do it for us again - at the drop of a hat I actually think it was even better if that was possible.
Near all rooms they have ice machines that you can fill up ice buckets to make your fridge drinks even colder. We would put the fridge drinks into the sink in the bathroom and pour the ice over them for about an hour - super cold that way
The foam party - was soooo much fun and again the staff were what made the party great. Drinks in the lobby in the evenings was awesome as well.
My wife arranged a secret anniversary surprise through the smile services - Octavio and David blew us out of the water - they set up in the lobby, a setting with rose petals, champagne and a huge cake along with music, took a video and multiple pictures and when we returned home they sent everything to us at no charge - incredible!!
There is nothing I can say bad about this resort and most importantly the people there - what a fantastic holiday ..... we will return for sure.
