Gorgeous facility. Staff could use training
MICHAEL S.
Jan 21 2018
Grounds well maintained, room was beautiful. Staff was not friendly or personal. We did not feel welcome, were not told anything about the facility and wait staff at the Palms were inattentive. We constantly had to refresh our own water and coffee.

We really enjoyed our time at Couples Swept Away. The ocean was incredibly clear and beautiful. The resort is outdated and not much to do after 6 pm but we enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly.

We've been to many nicer resorts for a lot less money. Seemed run down for the rating. Needed much maintenance. Pool and pool bar was disappointing. Main pool was very small.

This resort was awesome. The beach was beautiful and the sun set over the ocean with powder sand. The resort staff was wonderful and helped with all questions and amenities. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the service as much as the food.

Swept Away Review

We were here back in 2008. I believe the quality has gone down. Housekeeping times were widely different times sometimes not until 4:30 pm and no special touches or differences each night like they used to. Bars had no real fruit and fruity drinks were watery. There is a strict no tipping policy. We usually tip anyway but this time the staff were all over you hinting for tips. Not like it used to be.

Hotel Renovation Disclosure It was terrible.
BRENT T.
Jun 22 2017
Apple Vacations failed to inform us that there was renovation going on during our honeymoon! We were awakened everyday by the LOUD ANNOYING sound of jack hammering. The facility was working on a block of rooms right next to the beach and our room! We sat on the beach and listened to this crap all day everyday! It was terrible. I will not book with you again.

Entertainment for a retirement

This resort should have more entertainment for a younger crowd. Any dance or music for the younger crowd didn't start until 1130pm. We are in our 40's and after a long day of sun and water activities not to mention the drinks and outside excursions we lulled to sleep by the dinner music that is meant for the elderly. Don't get me wrong I thought the resort was good and most of the staff were great! I would like to see the other side of the resort to have a more vibrant nightlife.

The food and drinks were amazing! The beach is great and you’re able to walk it. Daily/nightly activities and friendly people who work there! I would definitely recommend going to this resort! Also they have chairs with rafts on them that you can take in the water 😁

Christmas Swept Away Part IV
jneil, Boston
Wed Jan 17 14:09:00 EST 2018
We were at CSA for both Christmas and NYE. It was our 5th trip, 4th Christmas, and 2nd NYE. I’ve written very detailed reviews in the past and for sake of not repeating myself, I will try to stick with the Pros and Cons, starting with the not so good. Cons: -Room: We love the atrium room (we stayed in one behind a beachfront-3rd time in this room), there were still places for improvement. Once again the lighting was very poor and the closet is horribly designed. It only had one door so to get to one side of the closet, you had to slide the door. If one of two drawers or the cabinet for the minifridge wasn’t closed all the way, the door wouldn’t slide. It was a pain. Our biggest issue was the water pressure. It was virtually non-existent in the sink and would fluctuate so bad when taking a shower that sometimes, we had no water at all. The mattress is still the old, uncomfortable one and the linens could be better. -Food: Our only issue was with Lemongrass. We have never been fans of their food but they changed their menu, and it was even worse than previous visits. We only went one time during our 9 nights. -Pools: The pool by Palms looked like it had be renovated but the one by the pool bar is still gross. The hot tub in the middle of the property only worked for the first part of our vacation and the ones by the pool bar were never warm.(I have never seen the one by the Palms working in all my visits). -NIghtly Entertainment: we just wish there was more music on property. You can only go to the piano bar so many times. While we did see some good music at the Palms, some nights it was over at 10. A larger area to hang out at would be nice with some music (Aura Lounge does not cut it) The Patois bar is so underused and has a lot of potential. -Refurbish: Feathers, the Grill, Aura Lounge, and the Pool Bar (and Pools) are in desperate need of an facelift. Supposedly some was done but we didn’t notice it (except Feathers had new cushions) -No Repeater’s Dinner: it fell on Christmas and New Years so they did not have it our week at all. -Bars: more fresh fruit!!! They really should have more fresh fruit to make their drinks. All they have are bananas and pre-made mixes -Water: I get the point of the water bottles, but once again, we arrived late and it would have been nice to have water in the room upon arrival. -Romance Rewards/pre check-in: yes, it is great they even have it but once again, they had none of our information when we checked in. I had to go to the concierge in the morning to get all my reservations (and couldn’t get one I wanted). Despite booking with the resort, they didn’t have my $250 booking credit (good thing I had a copy of the email). Just annoying. -Need a new croquet set Enough of that, here is the good: Pros: -Room: we love the shutters and overall set up of the atrium suites (we don’t miss the tv at all!) Housekeeping was excellent all week. -Staff: Service this trip was a lot better. We never had an unusally long wait for any meal. Although we noticed a lot of new faces (and missed some of the old ones), we thought the staff seemed happier this trip and more social with guests. -Food: Besides our awful meal at Lemongrass, we enjoyed all of our other meals. We are not big breakfast eaters but did eat at Patois a few times. Lunch was split between Seagrapes, the Cabana Grill, Patois, and Palms (when we were craving the salad bar). We had two good meals at Feathers, multiple good meals at Patois, and even a good meal at Palms (and I’m not a huge buffet fan but they had a pasta station which was very good). We love morning room service with the danish and coffee. -Spa: We had repeater credits so did the couples massage (upgraded it) and we had a wonderful experience. Both of us were very pleased with our massages (although the spa pool was not warm) -Gym: They have one of the best gyms you will find at a resort and we would start a few days here in anticipation of all the eating and drinking ahead of us. Check out their workout area (including pool, health bar, and tennis courts) -Christmas: They know how to do Christmas from the fabulous Christmas Eve cocktail party (and that lamb) to Santa’s arrival on the beach on Christmas day. -NYE: Once again, they put on quite a spread. We only had two disappoinments, they ran out of lobster (had to wait over 20 minutes for it) and the wine I drank all week (a decent sauvignon blanc) was not available. They really try to push you to buy bottles that night. -Bars: We were very happy to see more top shelf including Patron and Grey Goose at all the bars (and shout out to Marvin, our favorite bartender). -Included: It’s great to be able to paddleboard or sail (I am one of the few who love their solitary Sunfish) whenever you want. Although we didn’t use as many inclusions as we usually do (tennis, catamaran cruise, snorkeling), the included extras really set this resort apart. -Beach: As others have stated, the beach is their BEST asset and why we truly keep coming back. Although they had recent storms which took some of the beach away, it is still beautiful and we had crystal clear water for the duration of our trip. We didn’t notice an issue with loungers except for NYE day when the resort was at capacity. CSA provides the relaxing, laid back vacation that we are both looking for. Walk the beach in both directions (we walk daily and yes, you can walk all the way to Sandals). Do things at the beginning of your trip because that sand gravity is a real thing! (Although we did make it off property twice including dinner on the cliffs). We’ve already booked for next year!

Best beach ever!

My husband and I decided on Jamaica for our 20th anniversary celebration. We booked Couples because of the good reviews and all of the extra inclusions and the fact that there is no class system as seen at other AI chains. We were absolutely thrilled with CSA. We had an atrium suite and loved it! We used the hammock on the porch every day and fell asleep so easily to the symphony of tree frogs every night. The bed was a little hard for us, but I called housekeeping and they came and added a foam topper that was perfect. We had a couple of issues with the water, which we know was not the resorts fault. My husband did speak with Mr. Malcom, the ops manager who handled our concerns and addressed the issue. We really felt that we were a top priority and that they did everything possible to make sure our stay was above expectations - thank you. The tennis and sports complex was our favorite part of the resort aside from the beach. My husband and I took full advantage of the drills and lessons offered. Jermaine gave us each lessons and he was fantastic! So knowledgable and he really has a way with explaining technique that is easy to understand. You have a real gem in Jermaine and we were grateful to have some time with him - thank you! The beach was incredible - softest sand we have ever felt in our lives. We didn't think the vendors were that bad. A simple no thank you is all it takes and they are on their way. They remember you day after day and won't bother you unless you approach them. We did buy a few things and the security on the beach stands by to make sure that the transaction goes smoothly - which was very nice to have. The grounds are exceptional. So clean and well maintained. We loved meandering through each day to find a different path to our room. We ate at all the restaurants and thought they were all good. Patois and banana stuffed french toast for breakfast was a favorite of ours. The service at the Palms was not always consistent, but this is the buffet so it was not a huge issue. The staff was all wonderful - I wish I could remember all their names. Andrea in Patois, Natasha and Tanesha in lemon grass. Feathers was great too. Loved the bar tenders at the martini bar - so fun and they made fantastic martinis! Lastly, the water sports team was awesome. We snorkeled a couple of times - Julian and Kevon were great. We also night snorkeled which I highly recommend. We saw a sea snake, sea turtle and a few other cool things. All the staff at water sports were so fun and we loved that they make protecting the reef a priority. We are already planning our next trip back to CSA. Thank you for an amazing anniversary trip and we can't wait to see you again next year.
