Great for the money.

If going to Negril on a budget, you must understand that you get what you pay for. I went to Negril and Samsara knowing that I had gotten a deal by general standards. If you want a 5 star hotel, then you had better get your wallet ready to pay twice or three times the money of Samsara. The staff as a whole were great, the location was really different and unique with the cliffs and the laid back attitude. However, there were constraints; like the road being hard to cross and access to other activities hard to get to. Having said this, with a realistic attitude, we had a great time and intend to go back again.

Great views, great staff, and it's not a rah rah hotel it's off the 7 mile beach so don't expect to be entertained it's a chill spot and that's what makes it cool. Within walking distance are a number of restaurants and places to hang! Also, the pool is good but the ocean is right there so who cares about the pool, nobody.

Staff are friendly, accommodating and fun! Drinks flow continuously and home cooking made for a great visit! I would like to mention we didn’t have hot water for the majority of our trip? We told front desk and staff several times...never fixed it. The pool is lovely with updated lounge chairs, but the rest of the resort needs attention...from rusty chaise lounges to limited cabanas. This was a great trip if you didn’t mind roughing it a bit! Hats off to the excellent staff for always smiling and making us feel at home!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We just returned from a week stay at Samsara and had the best time! Quaint, low key boutique style resort with very friendly staff, great home cooked food, yummy drinks and beautiful views. If you’re expecting Sandals, this place is not for you. Top tips for your visit to Samsara 1) bring your own beach towels - they do not supply. The gift shop has a nice selection for $10 and makes for a nice souvenir! 2) bring a small extension cord as outlets are limited. 3) Ciao Jamaica has terrific pizza! 4) Ricks Cafe is a good time. Have an amazing lunch at. Ras Rody Organics and then walk about a block to Ricks. Wear your suit if you want to cliff jump! We had a great time and loved Samsara. Missing everyone already!

As previous reviews, the property is old and outdated but very clean and you have what is needed. Beds were comfortable, linens clean, AC worked very well, shower was tricky had to adjust a few times during the shower but worked well. The bathroom light went on the fritz but it was quickly fixed when we advised reception. They could use an update to the shower heads as but was a slow steady flow. We enjoyed the views, ocean and peacefulness. The snorkelling was okay, we saw dolphins and a big manta...lots of catamarans scooting by for their sunset cruises...good chuckle when the Hedonism boat came by as there were some bathing suits lacking and really there was nothing nice to see...lol. Would recommend an upgrade to the main lower ladder as it was quite rusty and gave your hands an orange tinge..yuck...recommend they upgrade to stainless steel. The Pool was clean and cooler than the ocean but all was very enjoyable, lots of chairs and spots to lounge/sit. We did the All Inclusive and were happy with the food and drinks provided and value for money, as it really is quite expensive if you do al a carte for everything, it can add up fast. The breakfast itself was worth the upgrade and you could always find something to eat for lunch & dinner, they had limited options but always basic and jamaican options, very good food. The staff...just amazing, from bar (Marcia & Owayne) to restaurant (Kerri-ann + 2 jokesters (sorry can't remember all the names), maids and front desk (frick & frack) everyone is so very nice and friendly. We had some storms blow through which made it quite exciting to have the waves come up almost into the bar area...crazy but fun! Then it can be calm, hot & sunny..weather was hot and very humid...got heat stroke one day when walking over to Seven Mile..should have taken more beer breaks..lol. The West End is sweet, you get the flavor of the Jamaican culture and can talk to the locals...we even got a small tour with some flora & fauna, history up to the lighthouse and Whoopies from Dilbert, who we just happened to meet along the way. He asked for a donation for the tour which was whatever you chose to give for a meal & a drink. Love the local food..we thoroughly enjoyed Ivan's (Falling Star), Push Cart (Rockhouse), Murphy's and Ciao. One day we even got beef patties brought over to the resort during the afternoon between meals which was an awesome treat. If you are open and willing to experience true life in Jamaica...just go for a walk but make sure you keep on the shoulder and walk towards the traffic...would not recommend during the night as they drive crazy! Fantastic experience and would definately return one of these days! I would recommend this resort for the value and the location...of course the wonderful people!

First time in Jamaica and very glad we chose the cliffs. Fantastic views, we upgraded to a pillar room and weren't disappointed. There is a storage problem in the pillar room, no drawers and one wardrobe? No where to store your suitcases but waking up staring at the ocean is well worth any inconvenience. We opted for all inclusive, wouldn't next time. The food is home made but I am very picky and am allergic to peppers so it limits what I can eat. The drinks are bar grade only, great If you like sweet blended drinks or beer on tap but doesn't include wine or any name brand alcohol even with dinner. Hint buy a bottle of wine from convenience store and they will keep at the bar for you. It is an5 dollar cab ride pretty much every where you want to go and ivans restaurant just 5 min up the road is a must. A massage is a must? She was very good and knew exactly what she was doing Overall I was very happy with our experience and would stay here again because staff, owners are fantastic and the views are out of this world. Value for money can't be beat but I would opt for not all inclusive. You can still buy food and drinks at the resort at reaso nable prices and great Italian right across the road and this allows you to try different restaurants They also have a daily shuttle to 7 mile beach and full privledges at sister resort. We did that but were happy staying at the cliffs.

Trip in November, Alone Female.

Stayed here back in November for a week. Female alone. Not much to do on this resort and even if you were looking for peace and quiet, this is not the hotel. One of the poorest place I have been to.Not well maintained. It needs a major makeover. During the day you could hear the jack drill going on and on ( for the restoration of the pool ) ...and in the evening, parties down the street. On the resort no animation, no nothing. The front desk were unhelpful when asked for places to scuba dive. The dive shop ( that used to be on the resort) moved not far away at the German Bar. Following an argument between the two. They will not point this out to you. Secret my friends ! Please do your research, it is called marine life divers. A lovely team that will go out of their way to make you appreciate your experience. stress free. some equipment needs a little TLC but beside that... great place. Spent 3 days diving with them. $$ price reasonable. They will come pick you up in front of the resort and even bring you back.I did not like the food at the hotel. Not much variety. Breakfast looks the same every morning. Be prepare to wait; they are not in a rush to serve you unless you TIP them well. Same thing at the bar ! My room was always cleaned at the end of the day :( often the lady came during my nap and I told her to never mind. The view is nice, I love the cliffs ( different from being on the beach ), you can jump right in the water and snorkel. If you do end up going there, make sure you fill up your day with activities outside the resort, do not take the all inclusive, use this place as a place to stay overnight and that's it. They do have a few helpful staff here and there. Thanks to Peter for being present and to the girl at the cafeteria who has found my cellular ! Shuttle to the sister' resort, Legend, is nice if you are looking to go on the seven mile beach for a day.
