We enjoyed our stay at Couples Resort! Charles the bartender is the BEST!!
Awesome resort, 4th visit
Couples Negril is the best resort we have visited. Food, beach, people, facility, and included amenities are all the best.
They do everything well here!
Wish there would've been more entertainment. Would've also liked daily housekeeping services instead of every other day. Otherwise, no complaints. My vacation was fantastic.
My wife and I love Couples resorts. This was our first time at Couples. We were initially surprised at how small the resort was compared to Swept Away, but we enjoyed that it was an older crowd (mostly 40s and up) that wasn't real wild and crazy. We come to enjoy the sun, sand, water and enjoy each other. This was the perfect place. We truly enjoyed all of the activities, watersports, excursions and meals provided. My wife needed some medical care while there and the nurse and doctor at the resort were so nice and professional and took great care of her. It was a great trip. Like everyone, we were sad to leave.
Couples Negril staff is top notch! Everything was beautiful, food was plentiful, alcohol in our room was wonderful for the mornings, bar options were endless with tasty drinks. We're hoping to go back in the future!
We were married there. Our experience was wonderful! Everything was stress free and beautiful.
Everything was excellent and the service was great. Very friendly and welcoming!
Both my wife and I very much enjoyed our second stay, as we did our first. The service is excellent and I wanted to give special thanks to two of your staff who stood out. Both the trainee, Leonardo, and veteran Ingrid, did an excellent job for us, were very friendly, and represented your resort very well. Please extend our thanks to them. We will definitely return.
We had one very big disappointment this trip ... we were not put in a room category that we paid for! We paid for ocean deluxe which meant partial ocean view however we were placed in a garden deluxe room which had no ocean view at all. The resort was only 35% occupied so this was a major issue for us. I feel the resort owes us the refund of the price difference with the two room categories.
Can't wait to return!
This place is magical! Amazing staff, great food and an awesome place to spend quality time with a loved one!

Decent stay for our 2nd visit but probably won't return
This was our second visit to CN (first time as four years ago). We realize that this isn't the most luxurious resort and really returned with friends because of the staff and location- love that beach. We used the arrival lounge at MBJ which is always the first indication of what to expect....blah. Very worn and could use an update but the coordination of the shuttle service was great. Check-in was smooth and we enjoyed the champagne welcome. What is missing is that they truly just give you a key and you're on your own. Since we were repeaters we knew the lay of the land but other friends with us didn't have a clue. A quick orientation of the layout, where to find activities, etc. would be most helpful for new guests. The rooms haven't changed and also could use an update. They're pretty bare and just "fine", like I said nothing luxurious but we knew that going in. Careful if you stay near the tennis courts as you'll either hear road noise or the leaf blower really early in the morning. Food wasn't as great this time. Still a nice selection and we enjoyed the addition of the veggie bar (the ladies there are so friendly!) but the buffet gets old and the quality is ok. We had dinner twice at Otaheite which was pretty good. Make sure to request the "dome" table if you have a large group. Just as last time, the staff didn't disappoint! Everyone was very friendly and we enjoyed running into the same people throughout (Theodore always remembered our names and chatted with us). A few additional things the resort could improve:
-limited communication on activities- there is no central spot for ALL daily activities including the classes at the gym, daytime activities, and evening entertainment. There was zero communication about the New Year's Eve party and finally at 5pm that night we got an answer on what time it all started. A simple daily flyer for the room or create an app would be great.
-consistency with maid service. our friends (2 other couples) received creative designs on their beds every night and we never did. Also, a couple of days our rooms weren't cleaned until late in the afternoon (after 4pm).
We were definitely in the minority of age demographics (we are late 30's/early 40's), as in more than 90% of the guests while we were there seemed to be in the 60+ age range. That's fine but definitely changes the vibe of the resort.
Overall we had a decent stay but have all agreed that we will look for a different resort next time.
My wife and I went to couples Negril for a friend's wedding. We were pleasantly surprised with the class of service this resort offered. We had been to Jamaica before and visited a different resort. The experience that the Couples Negril staff gave us makes us want to come back! There is a lounge in the Montego Bay airport for waiting on the shuttle to the resort. The front desk at the resort met us by name after getting off the shuttle. We were taken to our room and told of all the amineties the resort offered. The only complaint that we had, the wedding area is right next to the nude beach. Our friends were exchanging vows while the nudist were walking into the ocean. It makes for a great story but not for good wedding pics. Overall, we recommend Couples Negril to anyone looking to relax, sit by the beach, and have some good cocktails.
Great Place for a real All Inclusive Vacation
Hats off to the owner/developer/managers who had the long-sightedness to create a resort at which you don't feel nickel and dimed. So many resorts now try to squeeze in as many people as possible, and they charge for amenities that should be included in an all inclusive vacation. At Couples Negril we got all that we expected and more. The Couples lounge at Montego Bay airport was one such unexpected added touch. Much appreciated after a long day flying to have a bathroom, a Red Stripe beer (or Pepsi or water), and a guide all waiting for you.
The shuttle to the resort was only about 15 min wait, clean and the drivers were very professional and safe.
The resort itself is spacious and mostly grass, sand or wood boardwalks. I can’t walk or stand very long on concrete, and was so glad to be able to stretch my legs on the softer surfaces. We requested a ground floor room in building 5 and were accommodated. I’d recommend guests who require a wheelchair to request a building closer to the main, where there are concrete paths and tile. We loved our beachfront room 5106. It was updated and compact. Our patio had a lovely view of the beautiful gardens, the water sports hut and the ocean from just a bit of a distance. It was quiet. The only noise was happy laughter coming from a hot tub nearby.
The room itself had an excellent (firm but not too firm) king size bed. Pillows were just average. Flat screen TV (with lots of channels) was a nice viewing distance from bed. Both the air conditioning and the safe worked perfectly. The rainfall shower head had enough pressure to work very well, and the bathroom had a makeup mirror, yay! Housekeeping did a good job, with just a few little glitches. The mini-fridge was not stocked to our pre-order, and there were no water bottles when we arrived late Friday night. Once we asked the next day (and used our door card), everything was rectified. We also always seemed to arrive back from morning beach activities to take a shower, just when housekeeping arrived (I know, poor us!). We just waited on our lovely patio. Also know that if you request wine, Vodka and Champagne for your mini-fridge, they bring full bottles. I actually got a little tired of Champagne on this trip, never thought I would say that!
The food and its service were consistently great! We tried the room service Continental breakfast, and it arrived right on time. Very good coffee and very relaxing to have it on the patio. The breakfast buffet is much more extensive. Highlights were the scrambled eggs, muesli and baked beans for this pescatarian. They had a lot of vegetarian options and things like gluten free baking. They had an awesome Veggie bar (very appreciated touch!) that opened at 11am. Thank you to Veronica and others who make those smoothies, the ginger and everything was so fresh! The Heliconia grill is open air and all wood, so we mostly ate there. It is still full menu and excellent service. Loved the snapper, pizzas, and coconut and chocolate mouse desserts. Highlights at the Lychee (seafood) restaurant were the sushi, coconut/chickpea soup and the peanut brownie. Make sure to reserve one day in advance for fine dining at the Otaheite restaurant. The red velvet double chairs are very romantic! We also used the free exchange shuttle (leaves at 10am, return at 4pm or they will call a cab for you, 10$) to visit Couples Swept Away about 4km down on 7 mile beach. Their lunch buffet has the most beautiful presentation of desserts! There are similar confections at Couples Negril, but it took visiting Couple Swept Away for me to really notice them. We still preferred Couples Negril overall, for its grounds with more sand and grass.
We paid the extra cost to have a private breakfast on our patio, and for a private supper on the beach on my birthday. We had the same server for both, Aiesha? (sorry if I spelled that wrong!). She was friendly and obviously very high trained. She had the knack for being there when we needed her but also gave us lots of alone time for special moments. Thank you again for such great service! We also had a couples massage in the tree house. It seemed a little over priced for an average massage to us, but it did the job of getting all the kinks out from the previous day’s airport travel.
The sand in Bloody Bay seemed just ever so slightly less fine than that on 7 mile beach, but there were hardly any vendors which more than made up for it. We were there Jan 5 to 12, and yes the water activities are all included. My partner said the free scuba diving was good, people saw brain coral, many angel fish, a turtle, a shark, a dolphin etc. The beach toys (hobie, kayaks etc) looked to be in good shape. We had fun in the kayaks. There was a life guard and plentiful life jackets. We saw a snorkeling boat leaving with lots of people, and also saw them taking people water skiing. There were always plentiful beach chairs in sun or shade, without having to rush in the morning to claim them. The chair cushions float, so you can go lay right on the water if you like. We really enjoyed the free Catamaran sunset cruise. The crew was fun! The boat was clean and had bathrooms. The life jackets looked a little old, but it looked like they did the trick for everybody who swam in the cove. Free drinks were served but nobody got obnoxious, it was just a great time!
Overall the guests at this resort seemed to be a nice fun bunch, not snobby. Mostly slightly older, but still active adults. The entertainment seemed to be local, and it was good. We heard some amazing singing voices. This was our first time at Couples. I understand why there are so many repeat visitors. There are 2 other Couples resorts in Jamaica, just wish there were more throughout the Caribbean!
If you notice I gave couples an excellent rating. To continue on. Our flight was delayed for 12 hours. We were supposed to arrive at Couples around 2 pm. Instead we arrived at 2:30 am. Not a great start. What was great was that Couples was in the airport lounge ready to help us check in and get us a red strip. Shuttle was ready and waiting. When we arrived they were waiting again to check us in and give us sparkling wine if we wanted, I did want. lol Brought our bags to the room where our fridge was stocked with our pre-order. Drank a red stripe and fell into bed. Woke up to rain and a red flag. This was going to be a trend for our week. Not a green flag for the week we were there. Quite a bit of rain and a tad cooler than normal. Couples has no control over the weather so they are not to blame. We did have a wonderful time anyways. The entertainment crew kept us busy. The food was still fantastic. The nights at the piano bar was always a good time especially because of the bartenders. Timar was one of the great crew. We had excellent service at the pool bar also.We didn't run into any crabby workers. From the front desk to housekeeping. This has been our 6th time at a Couples resort and we will be back even though this was the worst trip. But thanks to Couples Negril we still had a great time. Talking to people on the plane on the way home many said they will never return to Jamaica. We told them they should try Couples next time.
Definitely coming back
We had a lovely time here and staff were friendly. Clean resort and we didn’t want for anything. GrEat jerk chicken at the beach bar. Reliable wifi. Au natural beach was a highlight and the guards make sure you are safe from people taking pics. We saw them stop someone so they take your privacy seriously. Evening entertainment is hit and miss but suspect that is driven by crowd involvement. Good is good and we always found something good. The only reason it’s not a “5” is because it’s a little more laid back as opposed to high end service you expect from a 5 Star. But it was perfect for us- We can’t wait to go back!
