We went to this hotel not expecting way too much, we did get it at a GREAT price and of course did our research and the reviews made us a little skeptical. We did get put in a room that is on the second level but it had two queen beds as we preferred one king bed, so on our third day they did move us to another room which was on the bottom level of the villas and I really preferred this to our other room. The first room was 3315 and it was decent enough and nice and quiet, the second room was 2802 which was a little better and still quiet definitely recommend this section of the resort. As for the food it was very good and decent for the price, we ate at the Italian and that was also very good. The only little complain is there was no bacon but all the buffets, lunch and dinner were very good, not to mention the AWESOME service of the staff Erika and Jacoba were the best servers!!!!! they really made our stay so pleasant and wonderful!!!! The other wonderful thing about this resort is the location it is only a 15 to 20 min walk to Playa Del Carmen either on the street or the beach, I really loved the Playacar area!!!! So we really loved this smaller and very quaint resort!!!

in booking this trip for my birthday we deliberately chose a smaller resort complex. The Allegro is small enough that although we only stayed a week staff knew us and knew our preferences for coffee, drinks etc. This was impressive service and all bar and dining staff were so helpful.
As other reviews state the facilities are getting outdated. We had a great room on 1st floor with view over the pool and the ocean but the lock didn't work 3 times so needed to get the card reset at reception and the safe locked us out twice. One bedcover seemed to be infested as we got lots of bites that night, but better once we removed it and left a note for the maid to let her know.
Location; fabulous - one of the few places I have been to where the actual reality is like the pictures on the brochure. The beach was clean and white, sea clear, pelicans diving for fish, pool area never too busy. (although the entertainment team insist on having loud music from 9.30am which you hear at both pools at at the beach - they turned it down when requested briefly but it was an irritant to a relaxing beach experience)
Food and drinks - food at the buffet was plentiful and always a wide choice - theme nights were good with staff working hard to ensure service was efficient without being too pushy. Food not always hot though. We ate at the mexican - food and service OK and at the italian which offered nice food but service was poor. As an all inclusive package though it was an excellent variety and choice of drinks at the bar was impressive.
Our main issue was with the reception staff - who you would think would be the friendliest of the staff but this was not the case. On arrival after long flight and journey (arriving 7pm) we had little welcome and whilst porter took our luggage for us we were told the wrong room - they are hard enough to find in the dark so this didn't help! When we needed keys resetting, safe resetting and other enquries I felt overall the staff were not interested in helping out and this was such a contrast to the staff at the bar and dining areas it was really noticeable. Slyvia in customer services was however so helpful but maybe she should work more closely with the reception staff as a role model rather than working alone in her own office?
Overall the holiday was fabulous and we will return sometime and choose to stay at this hotel again. Much nicer atmosphere and relaxing experience than the larger complexes we saw here.

We stayed here from the 22nd October for 10 nights, 4 adults and 2 children aged 14 & 12. We came for my 40th birthday and boy did they make it special and also made sure everyone knew it was my birthday in the hotel. The hotel itself was in a perfect position just a 25 minute stroll along the beach to 5th ave or £3.50 in a taxi. The staff couldn't do anymore for you and also got to know your name ( nice little personal touch we thought) food was fine , nothing wrong with it for the adults maybe a bit more variety for the fussy children but that's it. Mexican and Italian was lovely and nice to be waitered on. Entertainment staff as well as customer service team was great

Our 3rd time in the Mayan Riviera. Allegro is a well maintened small resort with a really good service. The resort was clean. We really liked the location, we could walk to Playa Del Carmen from the beach. (30-40minutes) We were in the building A-43 second floor with a partial vue on the ocean. We were in the Fisrt Club section in a one bedroom suite. The workers were very friendly, happy and gave us a good service.
+:location, beach, staff, food, lot of chairs at the beach
-: because we arrived on an early flight, we had to wait till 15h for the room
-We booked our shuttle at home on internet, it's cheaper. $120US/return
-We used Cancun Shuttle, somebody was waiting for us at the airport. When we left, the shuttle was even a couple minutes early at the Allegro.
-My wife and I went for a massage at Playa Del Carmen. Good clean place for $20US/person/70 minutes.
-Stay at the beach, don't go to a Timeshare meeting.
-First time travelling on fall time, we got some rain but it was still warm.
-We like to give some tip to the different workers on the site like the pool guy or to the person who rakes the beach. Sometime they are surprised but very happy!
Yes we will go back to this resort.

We picked this Allegro as being within our budget and yet offering everything we wanted. Our flights meant we arrived early and had to wait five hours before being allocated our room. We were with friends and had booked together, yet we were put in different 'houses' - which we refused. After some argument, we were given two rooms within the same 'house' and these were fine and everything worked well ( we had been warned by others to check everything before accepting our room!.)Wonderful beach, warm water and plenty of sunbeds -ideal!
Food and drink plentiful if a little repetitive.
The last couple of days we hit rain like you've never seen before. Our room key had always been temperamental. That night, soaked to the skin, we couldn't open our door. Twenty long, cold minutes later, neither could the hotel staff. Thirty minutes later, with us still standing outside, dripping, neither could the engineer. Eventually he brought a complete new unit and fitted it!
This was our first all-inclusive experience. Value for money, you couldn't knock it!
