We stayed from sept 7 th- 14 th. This was our second stay at this hotel.i want to start by saying the staff at this hotel are a what makes this place! they make you feel welcome. and they will try to accomadate your needs or requests with no fuss. just visit guest services, or contact prior to arrival for any special requests. they are awsome!
the food was great, there was always something to eat at the buffet, good selection. the italian, and mexican resturant were both of good quality, and service was great. i would rate the food a 8-10 overall.
the beach, is very clean , lots of sun chairs, nice sandy beach, great for swimming , no rocks, clear blue water, and shallow, the pools are great as well, 2 in total, one being the loud pool where they do all the activities, and one being the quiet pool, both are large and clean. and lots of sun chairs.
we were fortunate enough to have a ocean view room located in building #57, it was amazing, thanks to the ladies in guest service for making that happen, building # 56 is also a great vew. all rooms have balconys with hammocks.makes a great place for a nap.
the nightly entertainment was pretty good, worth a look.
the hotel is located a 20 min walk south of playa del carmen on the beach, or a 5 min cab ride.
we really enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed at this hotel from 8-30-14 to 9-6-14. It's true that the air conditioner did not work just like I read before going there. I called front desk and they sent a technician. After trying to fix it, he told me that the AC works. I however did not feel the cold air, but how could you argue with the tech. Then a day later, the ceiling fan died. The weather was hot and humid and with no AC, no fan, we were pretty miserable. After suffering for 3 days, we asked for a room change. We got a room with a full blast AC. Alleluia!
Although there are plenty of selections to choose for dinners, the food they serve is average. Breakfasts and lunches are just the usual. The last 3 bookings with Apple Vacations to Cancun and Playa Del Carmen were great, but not this trip. We were very disappointed.

We just returned from another great two week vacation at this resort. We will continue returning to this resort. The staff service was nothing less than just awesome. The food was very good and we never left hungry. All the staff personnel were very friendly but there were a few who went above and beyond to ensure that our vacation was a great one. At the First Club, these two young ladies were so wonderful and helpful. Thank you Sarai and Jessica. The bartenders, Carlos, Jose, Santiago and Aldo, were just great to talk with. These employees always had smiles and when you ask them a question, they had the answer or would get one. They went out of their ways to ensure we enjoyed our stay. When eating at the Buffet, make sure you find these employees as they are very special. They can not do enough to make your meal delightful and you leave feeling that people really do care about you. Issac works in the Italian Restaurant, Humberto and Erika work the Buffet. Again, we have stayed at this resort several times and each time, we feel like we have been spoiled. We feel these people have become our friends and will always have a special feeling for them.

Our 2nd time here. We stayed August 23 to Agust 30.
We got there a little early so our room was not ready. 30 minutes later it was ready but it was not a room we asked for, we asked for an upper. Waited two days to get an upper.
Both rooms we had, 2501(down) and 2705(upper) were smal but comfortable. Yes the beds are a little hard but it did not bother us. Both rooms and good AC. I was worried about the upper being too hot, not so.The AC work well with a little help from the ceiling fan. The vaulted ceing made the room feel bigger. Loved the balcony, with the roof overhang, made it feel rustic. Sat out there every day. TV is an old tube TV with limited cable TV. A few english channels but most were spanish, don't forget, it is spanish speaking Mexico.
Breakfast and lunch were pretty much the same everyday with some variations. Some items were good while other items are not the greatest. Dinner was a different theme each night and again some items good and some items so-so. Mexican restaurant was very good. Italian we did not go because we did not care for it last year. The waiters were great. They would remember what you drank the day before.
It is small, the way we like it. Not to far to walk to beach, pool, restaurants or lobby. There are about 30 buildings containing 4 lower and 4 upper rooms. We were in the middle of the resort.
What can I say, drinks were good. They do serve mostly cheap liquor with the option of name brand booze. Beer was Dos XX. Bartenders were fast at serving, even when the line was long.
Both were warm as bath water, remember there is a sun over head heating the pool all day everyday. They were dirty but that is because there were storms almost everyday. The winds were strong and blew a lot of dirty and tree debris into the pool.
The staff was great. At least five staff members remembered us from last year, that says a lot about a resort. They always joked around with us or talked to us when they had time. Some of the staff gave us hugs the day we left.
They worked hard to make everyone happy and involved. They did a lot of things with the guests during the day and put on great shows at night. They did have a few acts come in from outside the resort to perform.
William,Humberto,Ernesto,Isreal,Jesus,Keni,Victor,Lidia,Sylvia and others that I forgot their names.
Overall we had a great tiem and will return again next year, especially when the staff makes you feel like family. Also, if you do have problems, just remeber to be patient and calm when letting them know about a problem, we had a few and were taken care of right away.
nothing special but good value for the price paid

We stayed as part of a longer trip for 6 days and chose this hotel because of the size (its small in comparison with lots of Cancun) the great price, location and beach. All of the above were great. The staff are very friendly. The rooms are basic, quite tired, but very clean and our first room in block 15 had no working AC. We got moved without a problem but we shouldn't have been allocated the room in the first place as the management knew there was a problem in the whole block. Would recommend a 1st floor room as these are more light and airy. The buffet restaurant was nicely decorated, perhaps too hot at times but there is an ac room. The food was universally varied and of a good standard. The Italian restaurant was very good. Nice pools and a great beach. Our kids enjoyed the kids club which ran for a couple of hours each morning and afternoon. The entertainment was just about ok - lots of activities in the day and a show or something in the evening.
Shame you have to pay extra for Internet access and shame you get harrassed about the vacation club/trips everytime you go for a meal or venture to the lobby or outside of the hotel.
TIP: Walk outside, turn left and walk for about 10mins and you get to a shopping area. Free wi-fi at Starbucks, a tour organiser (we booked on a trip to Tulum/Coba for £25 each) as well as general shops.
