I've been to this hotel twice, two years in a row. There were a bunch of reasons for me to return the year after, some of them were:
- Amazing beach, I definitely think this is what lifts the hotel up.
- Big variety of restaurants and food. The main buffet has lots of good food, although it had actually declined from the past year.
The burger- and pizzarestaurants around the pools make you feel like you're at a BBQ-party. But it's quite simple and they aren't always too good at refilling.
- Cute bungalows for rooms, which aren't too luxurious but they are charming.
- Many good drinks! Some of the drinks taste a bit cheap and easy, but they make very good mojitos.
Sadly I don't feel like returning because I was quite disappointed in the change from the year before. One example was the Italian restaurant that I've heard so many good things about (and that guests used to order table every night because of the amazing food) we were a group of 6 and there was no way we would get table for everyone in the whole week that we stayed there. Only 2 of us got to go one night, and that was quite disappointing for the 4 others. And the weird thing was there were maybe 10 tables, and only 3 of them were used. It looked like they had cut back on the employees..
The pool sometimes had dirt in it, which looked quite unflattering.
The AC in our room didn't work..
And this is not a quiet hotel btw. People speaking in the microphones and lots of music all day. This can be fun and a bit exhausting.
This is our 2nd time to this resort. I had hoped it would have improved with new ownership. Sadly, it has declined.
Front desk: unpleasant and arrogant.
Remainder of staff were great. Maids, waiters an bartenders were awesome, especially Humberto at the buffet.
Food: good to very good, this is a moderately priced resort so you can't expect
lobster and filet mignon. what we had was very good, however, one morning there
was a fire at the buffet. I greatly appreciated them preparing gluten free food for
my granddaughter, everything they made for her was excellent and she loved it!
Drinks, ok for what I had, the mojitos were very good.
Beach, perfect.........absolutely one of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean.
Now for the bad: I am not prissy and did not expect anything other than a basic clean
room with adequate air conditioning. this was our issue last year, it took 3 rooms to find AC that worked. this year, the same thing. it was unbearable in our room. we reported it to front desk staff and nothing was ever done. I found the beds to be very comfortable, it was just too hot to sleep. Resort was very quiet at night.
Grounds, very nice.
The pool, DISGUSTING! for our first 2 days it looked like vomit floating on top
of the water. There is no excuse for something like that to go unnoticed by
I will never return. a working AC and clean pool are minimum standards regardless
of the price of the resort.
I booked 2 weeks in this resort.
When we arrived in the early morning we had our first surprise: AC in the small room ( 4 people) did not work. I am here throught an Italian tour operator and only after the assistance from them the resort replaced our room. But...cooler on the ceil not working and not properly fixed. I called a supervisor who order to replace with a new one..still waiting for 4 days.
Let see food...ridicolous..the takeaway below my home has more options and here are always the same. It is an all inclusive formula with no food during the day. They mentiomed extented breakfast until noon at swimmimg side come on..today someone told me that breakfast is only in breakfast area above the reception unitil.10.00 am. How can i define this different from not serious?
And hope you dont get thursty after 10pm.

Last but not least yesterday night i had a colitis eating alway that food not good
We ignored the negative reviews and just focused on the positives. On arrival check in was quick and easy, got out wristbands and went straight for dinner as we arrived about 9pm, receptionist said our cases would be taken to our room to which they were there once we returned from dinner. You cannot fault the staff and the grounds immaculate. The room was not superior as advertised but the bed was massive and so comfortable, air con and fan worked perfectly without any noise. The rooms are being renovated at the moment so hopefully past reviews about the rooms will be put right. A few things wrong with the rooms.... 1. Not enough plug sockets, no kettle only a coffee maker to which we had to plug in the bathroom as only availble plug socket for the coffee maker to fit, not ideal having electricals near water, i did ask for a kettle but staff did not understand what i meant, but we coped. A nice little touch was having tea and coffee making facilities by the pool so for the first part of the holiday we went down there in the mornings and brought a drink back to the room, but then it disappeared !!! 2..the shower curtain could have been a little longer as water did go over the floor when showering. Thelma the maid restocked our fridge everyday we never ran out of water,beer or coke and loved the art with the towels, bed was changed when we requested it, i didnt feel the need to have it changed everyday, the towels we changed everyday.
The grounds.... where to start, perfectly clean and tidy they work constantly cleaning, mowing planting and nothing that disturbed our stay,the wildlife amazing, beautiful birds and butterflies the lizards were lovely some large some small and they looked like they were sunbathing. The adult and baby agouti's are adorable and so used to people.
We spent our days either on the beautiful beach or near the quite pool, the noisy pool was not for us but the music and activities never interfered with us, think they must have lowered the music from past reviews. Only on one occasion they had music on the beach and people doing aerobics which i felt lowered the tone of the hotel, my advice keep the music and activities by the pool. The pool did get a bit grubby around the edges but this is due to sun cream and maybe they should have a better filtration system in place. We only went to the evening entertainment once... just too tired of having a full day everyday, i think they should look at one song in particular that they played which was very inappropriate, Gary Glitter is a NO, the hotel need to research this person.
The food..... i am a picky eater but everyday i had something different so much to choose from and finally have found a country that can do desserts !!! Plenty of choice and breakfast,lunch and dinner, we ate once in the italian and once in the mexican again couldnt fault the food or the service. Food always availible anytime of the day.
The internet, yes in this day and age internet should be free we bought it for one day and that suited us at the end of the day your on holiday, but for the youngsters its their lifeline so maybe in the future they will include it somewhere in the price.... hint hint, good idea????.
They are refurbing the rooms at the moment and again didnt interfere with us but im excited to see them once they are finished.

So to sum it up we had a great holiday at a great hotel and once its been fully renovated we would love to return... cant wait to see how it looks. Thanks for having us Allegro.
I read all the negative reviews and have one conclusion- if you are prissy or expect perfection this place not for you. I LOVED IT, friendly people, beach was great, food was ok( some nights really good other nights average).. For the price it was fantastic.. I will go again if I find the same deal.. The rooms are rooms that's it. The hammock was a bonus touch.. If you think you are royalty this place is not for you!
