This was our second visit to this resort

We stayed at Allegra Playa Car in 2015. Since then there have been some updates, which were all very nice with the exception of the removal of the grass umbrellas on the beach. They were replaced with palm trees. We appreciated not being attacked by time share people. They now approach it as a vacation club, with much less aggression. The entertainment staff is not as good as back in 2015. The resorts in the area usually put on a nice super bowl evening. All the bars on 5th avenue were running the super bowl on an English speaking channel. They really dropped the ball on it this year. Victor chose to run the biggest night of American football in Spanish. All of the audience with the exception of about six people spoke English. During the commercials they would turn up the lights so you could not see the screen so Victor could play football trivia games with the audience. One time, they turned up the lights while the kicker was going for the extra point. Some of the entertainment staff were much friendlier than others. Some would not even make eye contact.

Review of Allegro Playacar

The wait-staff was excellent. The great ones remembered us from day-to-day. The beach was awesome!!! The front desk staff was not all that helpful. The "concierge" only wanted to sell us a timeshare. Our bathroom smelled like a sewer and the bath water came out brown each time we turned it on. There were certain areas of the grounds that always smelled like sewer and the public bathrooms were gross. The buffet was ok but we did not enjoy any of the restaurants. The entertainment was so-so; there was even a time when they stopped translating in English because there weren't enough Americans and Canadians in the audience. That was a little frustrating.

we had trouble with our room the first and second night. once we overcame the room issues the resort was great. I understand the resort had some remodeling done. the room I was in should not have been listed as available. The resort was able to find me a more accommodating room.

Facility was worn and dirty, swimming pools were filthy and had no filtration or water treatment, swim up bar was controlled by ignorant parents with toddlers sitting at the bar all day, the food service was poor quality, nothing like our previous trips to this area, witnessed a child pissing in pool after parent removed diaper, air conditioned spaces weren't air conditioned, entertainment was lousy, people overall not courteous at all, just a cheap resort overall, wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!!!!!

bed bugs after being upgraded

Jun 21 2016
My wife and I arrived at our hotel the lobby was very aged the marble countertop sticky and the particular person checking Us in someone unattentive. After checking in we went to our room very dark had a smell we took a look at the sheets and there was hair on the sheets and disdain. I went to the front desk complaint about this they were very apologetic he said we will upgrade you it will be the same kind of room only closer to the beach ok. The room in the condition of the room still not good stains on the tables on the floor we had twin beds this time one had hair when did not. I told my wife I would sleep on the air bed she could have the other. She needed to leave immediately however we could not make arrangements with Apple fo leave. During the three-day period my wife experienced a lot of bed bug bites we know these are bed bugs because they're not sand fleas and looking at the conditions of the mattress how healthy they looked under the sheets with the cheap foam cushion on top it was bed bugs not mosquitoes and gnats and fleas bed bugs we even looked it up online and there were some sample pictures that matched what my wife had exactly this was pretty much torture for her. On the fourth day we were able to speak to an Apple representative and make arrangements to get out of that place we transferred next door to the Royal Hideaway Hey sister Resorts of where we were staying. We did have to pay significantly for the upgrade but it was well worth the money it was good to leave where we were. As for the Royal Hideaway perfect. Donn ovshak Oklahoma City Oklahoma USA

Great beach and resort

The beach is one of the best. The food is adequate but we didn't come here for a food trip but for the sun and surf. The staff is amazing. We had to change rooms and Ivan and Ivonne were so kind and helpful and exceeded our expectations with a complimentary message. The room we were in (5711) was outstanding. I like the small feel of the resort and that it doesn't feel like a "cattle call". You get to know others because you run into them regularly.

Overall we liked the hotel, as we stayed in similar hotel in Cozumel 1.5 years ago.. however we didn't like the constant hassle off being asked to goto a viewing off the more luxurious hotel, and every person who we talked to offered something different. Even though we agreed to go it wasn't 90 minutes it ended up being 4 hours, and we were with our autistic son. When we went to collect the day trip at the Allegro in Cozumel we were told its full and we can't get the day trip, and even the supervisor was surprised why the representative lied to us. Also the sink was leaking all over and there was mold and rust on the walls all our things were wet. We felt that this should have already been addressed thru the maid service that this was an issue. I was also not able to enjoy any diving excursions with my husband as play place staff were only available for 2 hrs.

Visited Allegro Playacar at the end of October. Beautiful resort, great staff, food was decent too. Very hospitable, and my family and I had the best time. We will absolutely return some day, highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting the Mayan.

I visited the Allegro for the 2nd time and was pleasantly surprised that it had recently been renovated. Beautiful, quaint and on a great stretch of beach that takes you to Playa del Carmen for some great shopping and across the street a Starbucks with even more great shopping. Love this place!!

Would go back in a heartbeat

We have stayed at a few different places in Playa and this was our favourite. Reasons why: -Beach! The beach was amazing! Beautiful sand and seaweed free. The water was warm and beautiful. -Service! Special shout out to Miguel who was our server every day on the beach. Knew our orders and kept us happy. Also kudos to the entertainment staff who worked hard to ensure everyone was having a good time -Location! A cheap quick cab ride into Playa meant lots of trips into town. -Size! This is not a monster resort so everything is close by your room. The only real thing that stood out as a con for us was the time share staff in the lobby. They are relentless. But this is at every Mexican hotel I have stayed at. Loved every minute at the Allegro.

Hello , let’s start by getting the bad outta the way first. My room had a hole in the ceiling I didn’t have water at one point for quite some time my room smelled of mold so bad I couldn’t close my windows it was making me sick so. Also I payed for two all inclusive packages for my trip and traveled alone so I was intending on using the second reservation for bringing visitors with me I also asked if that would be okay to my first club concierge at wich time they said it would be okay to do and so to my understanding I was okay to bring someone else with me to my resort if I so chose to. Well I do one night and ended up paying an extra 128 bucks. Come to find out they had canceled my second reservations and supposedly refunded me the money for the second full week of stay of wich it has been a week and half so far and I still have not received my reimbursement . Now for the good when I asked to be moved they moved me with not fight at all and into a non vacation owner studio to my surprise it was updated and very nice compared to the members suits wich seem backwards to me we pay thousands to be first club members and our rooms are sub par at this establishment compared to none members rooms. The service for the staff is exceptional though everyone is very friendly the bar tenders are great! They do try very hard to keep you entertained during your stay and their evening shows were exceptional especially the burlesque show my favorite . Also the pool shows and entertainment staff do such a wonderful job. The buffet is wel.. just that it’s a buffet it was good not over the top but it was not horrible. The food at the restaurant where you have to get reservations however was actually very good. Not: this establishment is under continued construction doing rienivations so at least they are improving. So would I stay here again? I think I may it just depends on what the reason and my aim for the stay is it is very close to playa del Carmen so that is a big plus.
