I like to focus on the positives such as this resort's spectacular beach and ocean, a good first club facility and a fun pool area. We really enjoyed the first club area and its small pool-- you can't beat that view. Santi behind the bar was top-shelf and just a great guy. Good eats in the FC every day. The service everywhere on the resort was great. The buffet food was acceptable but I don't go on vacation to eat myself into oblivion. Don't expect 5 star food. We did a day-trip to Cozumel via the ferry and had a great time with two other couples snorkeling and touring the "wild-side" (Coconuts & Bob Marley's) in a large van taxi. We found a guy at the pier to drive us around all afternoon (6 peeps) for $80. I view the resort rooms as a place to sleep and change my clothes as you really should be out and about enjoying the resort and beach. That being said, the basics in the room should work (such as hot showers and toilets that work) and ours didn't. (In a FC room). It wasn't enough to make us change because we liked being right next to the FC but again, the basics should be in good repair. Overall, a great time and a great value. More>

Brilliant Stay, No issues, good times!

A really pleasant hotel to stay at. Stayed at the Allegro for 10 nights with my girlfriend. Food: As it is an all inclusive hotel, you get buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner at set times during the day. The breakfast was I feel probably the best out of all the meals as you had everything you could ask for! Every night was a different theme dinner theme. We only had lunch at the snack bar due to it being close to the pool. You also have a snack bar opposite the drinks bar with a selection of food during the afternoon, which was good. The Burger bar was always busy, with a selection of either beef, chicken or fish burgers. The Pizza snack section had a selection of pizzas. There are two Al a carte restaurants, The Mexican, serving Mexican cuisines and The Italian, serving Italian cuisines. Both were very nice! The Steak that they serve in The Mexican was the softest, tender steak I have ever had and it was delicious! Be warned, you can only visit these Al a carte restaurants once a week (each). Drinks: There was a bar by the entertainment pool, which served people drinks via the swim up bar and opposite the snack section. I can't comment for the alcohol but my misses was happy with the alcoholic selection. The soft drinks were on tap. Also done really good lemonade and virgin drinks. Pool: You have two pools, a quiet one and an entertainment pool, which features a swim up bar. Was always located at the entertainment pool, didn't use the quiet one once. Entertainment: The entertainment was really good at the entertainment pool. From I gather, there were two entertainment teams that worked together, an international team and one focused for the Italians (who booked via Eden?). Both were great, especially at the entertainment pool. The night time shows were great too! The entertainment stuff will make you learn the Occidental dance, which is a laugh. Rooms: Basic room with bathroom and wardrobe area. Very clean! Yes, slightly dated but nothing to cry/moan about. All you need as you won't be in the rooms for most of the day (just to sleep, shower and getting ready). We had first floor room (that is the floor above the ground floor, for the Americans), with a high thatched roof ceiling. We had air conditioning and also a ceiling fan (using both at the same time had the best affect). Location: The hotel in located in the gated community of Playacar, 20 minutes walk to Playa Del Carmen or 30 minutes walking on the beach. It is only a few minutes walk from the shops in Playacar where you can buy attraction and tour tickets, hats, etc, even a Starbucks with free WiFi. The beach is very nice! White sand! Lots of activities to do on the beach like jet skiing, paragliding, etc. Spa: Received two massages by the sea and loved it! Well worth it! Cons: No free internet. Would suggest that they should make the internet free as a lot of people find it to be a necessity. Was a really nice and delightful holiday, would stay there again when I return to Mexico in a few years time. Shout out to Humberto in the buffet and all his colleagues, they were great! The restaurant/catering manager/supervisor was great. The guys and girls at both restaurants were great. The amigos at the bar, were great! Everyone was friendly. The entertainment team were great people and a shout out Eric (I think he's called Eric, the main host on the entertainment team) he was great too! We took part in a few activities and quizzes, which were all funny/entertaining. Last note, when you arrive, they'll get you to buy into a timeshare of 25 weeks. If you don't care about the hassle of finding good deals or have a decent size family, it maybe a good option, but doing the basic calculations and the additional cost of all inclusive (35-115 dollars per night per person), for us it didn't make financial sense as if we were to use it for the exact same holiday it would have cost more. But it make be OK for other people in different position to ourselves. But a great hotel, great experience, no problems whatsoever. When we return to Mexico, this will be the first hotel we look at, hopefully it'll be just as good! More>

Re-evaluate customer service skills...

This was my third time visiting the Allegro Playacar and I went with my 20 year old friends. From the start, I felt un-welcomed and uncomfortable because they couldn't find our names on the list. After sorting this problem out, we finally go to our room, by ourselves, and there was one bed for me and my friend, who is also a male. I booked this trip 7 months prior specifically making sure we had two beds. I went down the lobby and was told the place was full and nothing would happen. I argued it, 5 minutes later we had a different room. These people are complete sleeze balls. While checking out, the main women manager claimed we owed 500$ for the excursion we went on while we had already paid it. SHE WAS NOT LETTING US LEAVE FOR THE AIRPORT. It was problem after problem and this staff needs to seriously reevaluate customer service because unfortunately, this really scared me away from this resort, and I've been coming my whole life but it has changed so much since I went last year. The entertainment staff last year was great- this year, they were awful. With that being said, the resort is beautiful. The beach, music, and bar are all perfect and the rooms are very well cleaned each day. If it was not for the poor hospitality of the people in the lobby who are supposed to make you feel at home, this would've been perfect. More>

Playacar a Paradise!
Sat May 21 11:23:56 EDT 2016
The hotel was lovely and Playacar is a paradise in a secure gated area, we felt very safe at all times! The staff are friendly in the resturants and bars! Housekeeping works tirelessly and do a great job! The odd member of staff in reception can be a bit rude and very much a stickler for the rules and they do things one way which sometimes can over complicate things, the hotel needs to look at the customer experience instead of making things difficult I.e resturant bookings perhaps should be able to book at reception when out of booking times 9.09 - 4.00! The food in the AI buffet was ok, just ok! Had worse in other AI's so a bonus there, the flavours to most foods were there but the quality of meats were not good so the buyers need to adress that, the veg was always raw and cold and the potatoes were never cooked through and not seasoned at all! All in all I had a great holiday and didn't want to leave Mexico defo will visit Mexico again the people were really friendly and welcoming! More>

Had a great time at this hotel, in a Very beautiful setting, the beach was out of this world, truly 🌡🍹🌞 The buffet was great for the first week, but did get a little fed up with it by the second week, breakfast was good lost of choice. The Italian and Mexican restaurant where beautiful, food to really enjoy and the staff where great, helpful and could not do enough for you, these where manual, george , migel and alonzo on the bar, believe they all need rewards, unlike some, such as Antony on reception very rude and dismissive Then there was the short fat Italian lady on the entertainment crew who was even ruder, turned her head away when I asked her a question, but believe it was because I was English, only witnessed her speaking to people from her own country, very pig headed 🐷 The rooms where ok, yes they needed a little updating, but nothing to serious. I truly enjoyed myself and was glad I picked this hotel, got a good deal from love and it was worth every penny, in fact it's the best all inclusive I've ever been to, if you wanted cocktails all day, that's what you got I would also like to mention erika, David and Alex waiters around the pool and lobby, and off course migel and baby face πŸ‘on the pool bar at night wonderful people, they put the rest of staff to shame You will all be missed ❀️ Would I go back, the answer is a big fat yes Only complaint no free wifi, but go to Starbucks two min walk from hotel and you get it free Have a lovely time πŸŒ΅πŸΉπŸŒ…πŸŒ΅πŸΉπŸŒ…πŸŒ΅πŸΉπŸŒ… More>
