Departure taxes are generally $15.00 US Rental Cars: In order to rent a car in St. Kitts or Nevis, you will need to purchase a permit from the Traffic Department (approximately $11 U.S.), and remember to drive on the left-hand side of the road. On St. Kitts, the only major agent is AVIS (869-465-6507, 1-800-331-1084). A & T Car Rentals offers affordable four door vehicles, they are on Parkrange Street in Brasetterre (869-465-4030). The currency in St. Kitts is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar.
Required Proof of Citizenship:
Valid US passport or state-issued birth certificate with photo ID.
Traveling with minors: Minors traveling with only one parent or adults other than their parents must have a notarized letter from the absent parent(s) authorizing them to be taken out of the country. If the parent is deceased, a copy of the death certificate will be required for check in at the airport.
Tips: A 10% service charge is added to most restaurant bills. Additional tipping is not expected, but is appreciated.
