Here, at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, land ends and the Sea of Cortez wrestles with Pacific Ocean. Breathtaking beaches line the resort area of Los Cabos, making it the trendiest of the west coast destinations. Two towns, lively Cabo San Lucas and laid-back San Jose del Cabo, are bridged by the 20 mile "Corridor", lined with world-class oceanfront hotels; a golfer's Nirvana, with course after championship course to perfect your swing.
While the nightlife in San Jose del Cabo centers around the restaurants and large hotels, Cabo San Lucas is the party capital of Los Cabos, where you'll find a wide variety of nightclubs as well as casual and fine dining options, and not a few celebrity sightings.
Known as the Sport Fishing capital of the world, Cabo is home to many big game fish, particularly marlin. The marina at Cabo San Lucas hosts sailfish, swordfish, marlin and dorado fishing tournaments yearly.

Avis, Hertz, National, Thrifty and Dollar all have representatives in the area, and the most popular car of choice is a convertible Volkswagen, invariably in white or in red, made in Mexico, and surprisingly tough on dirt-rutted, unpaved roads. It is best to choose the unlimited mileage options as distances can be considerable. Special offers and bargaining make it possible to find a good deal. You don't really need a car unless you want to go into the wilderness or drive outside the two Cabo towns.
